18 June - national forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Wednesday morning which is bright or sunny for
00:03most. However, let's start our forecast across the north of Scotland where we are seeing some
00:08showers this morning and a bit of a brisk breeze. They're fairly scattered though with some sunshine
00:12in between. Over the highlands, more on the way of cloud, the odd spot or two of showery rain but
00:16mostly dry and a fine start to the day over Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland, England
00:20and Wales. Although we're seeing one or two mist and fog patches which will burn off
00:25very quickly through the next few hours. So through the morning, not a lot of change. However,
00:31notice towards the west. This is a weather front which will run in towards high pressure which is
00:36sitting across the UK, weakening all the while but you'll find more clouds for Northern Ireland
00:41through the morning into the afternoon. Even the odd spot or two of rain can't be ruled out towards
00:45the north, also for Western Scotland. Elsewhere, it's a sunny afternoon especially across England
00:51and Wales. Brighter skies across Scotland as those showers fade away across the far north
00:56and you'll see some sunshine coming through. Now temperatures rising very nicely through the day.
01:01It's going to be warm particularly across England and Wales. Temperatures around 26, 27 degrees Celsius,
01:0721 towards the west country, 19 or 20 for Northern Ireland, 16 for the central belt but in shelter across
01:13the eastern side of Scotland we're likely to see around 18 or 19 Celsius. So let's pick up on that
01:19cloud and that little rain which is going to skirt Western Scotland overnight. Clearer skies then for
01:25Northern Ireland. Elsewhere, we'll see some starry skies overnight. That cloud gradually just moving
01:31northwards into Thursday. So a brightening picture across much of Scotland. The cloud eventually breaking
01:37up because of the strength of the wind. Strong sunshine for most as we head through the afternoon. We may
01:42hang on to a little bit more cloud across the far north of Scotland. Temperatures though 22 for the central
01:48belt of Scotland, 21 for Northern Ireland, 29 for mid Wales, 25 for South Wales, 22 for the west country,
01:5425 central southern England as well as eastern counties of England. Although for the northeast
01:59you could see temperatures just the high teens. Still warm though. Now through Thursday evening and
02:03overnight into Friday, one or two showers could gather towards the west. They may have a thundery
02:08element to them but through Friday it's another fine day. Warmer across the board. Quite a breeze
02:14coming in this time from the southeast and one or two showers through the afternoon as well. Generally
02:19speaking though temperatures will be high. 25 in the north, 30 across the Midlands, East Wales, 25 towards
02:27the far south there. So a very warm if not hot day. Now that's the picture on Friday. As we head through
02:34the weekend we'll see some good sunny spells. It's going to be a fine day with lots of sunshine and
02:39temperatures on the up. So yet again the temperatures will reach the mid 20s to the low 30s. So 32 degrees
02:46Celsius could be your highest temperature wherever you are. Have a lovely day and I'll see you again soon.
