9th June - National weather forecast presented by Aidan McGivern.
Transcript
00:00Hi there. Later this week we'll see humidity climb and the chance of some very heavy thunderstorms.
00:07But for the time being we've started the week with areas of persistent damp weather moving across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:13and during the evening spreading into parts of Northern England, the Midlands and Wales.
00:18As this weather system sinks south it weakens and the rain turns lighter, more patchy.
00:24But it stays drizzly and in fact there's extensive low cloud associated with it that tends to sink across England and Wales overnight.
00:32Whilst clearer spells break out across Scotland and Northern Ireland with some showers, most notably Northern Scotland and some brightness.
00:41First thing Tuesday for Scotland and Northern Ireland increasingly heading into Northern England as well.
00:46But we see a lot of low cloud remain through Wales, the Midlands and the south of England.
00:54In some cases it will persist, mist and hill fog as well as some patches of drizzle here and there.
00:5920 degrees or 22, 23 in the south, high teens further north despite the sunnier skies returning.
01:08And actually those clearer skies do spread more widely across the UK during Tuesday night.
01:14With the exception of some western fringes where North West Scotland will see a little weather system skirt by with some patchy rain for a time.
01:22And for the far south and south west there will still be some mistiness and low cloud remaining.
01:28But where we see the clear skies temperatures will fall into the single figures.
01:32A fresh start to Wednesday but plenty of brightness first thing.
01:36Certainly across much of central and eastern UK we'll see clear blue skies from the word go.
01:42Still some mist and low cloud around the south and the west.
01:45And some patches of light rain for the west and north of Scotland.
01:49But for the vast majority it's dry.
01:51On Wednesday it's bright and it's increasingly warm.
01:54Temperatures up to 27 degrees in places.
01:58And it's going to get hotter and more humid still as air is drawn north from Iberia.
02:05And that air is going to be most notable for its humidity.
02:09But also with low pressure approaching from the west there's always the chance of that hot and humid air becoming destabilised through Thursday.
02:19And more especially into the weekend with the threat of some very lively thunderstorms in places.
02:25So a lot could take place at the end of the week but at least a quiet few days coming up in the meantime.

02:35Bye bye.
