00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning. We're talking showers
00:04today and heavy thundery showers across southern counties. In fact, the Met Office has issued
00:09a warning for those thunderstorms through this morning and into this afternoon. A weather
00:14front across Scotland continues to bring clouds and also some outbreaks of rain. This weather
00:19front here skirts more southern counties through the day, bringing with it the risk of those
00:23thunderstorms, really ramping up the risk of some heavy torrential downpours, hail as well
00:30as thunder and lightning. Through this morning, if you are stepping out, some heavier pulses
00:35of rain across Aberdeenshire. Rain just clearing Shetland and some outbreaks of rain and drizzle
00:40across the North West Highlands. Dry skies across southern counties of Scotland and Northern
00:44England where you'll see some sunshine. A few light showers running in across Northern
00:48Ireland but an improving picture here. And then we can pick up on that cloud and the rain
00:52of course central and southern parts of England and Wales. Fairly sporadic through this morning
00:55so some drier skies around as well. Let's just pick up on the detail of those thunderstorms
01:01then as they develop through this morning. Anywhere across the M4 corridor to be honest. And
01:08you can see there's some heavy downpours likely. Frequent lightning and hail extending through
01:13the morning into the afternoon and evening time. This warning expires at 9pm. So expect some
01:20quite heavy weather and some tricky driving conditions. Particularly if you're travelling
01:24through today and into this evening rush hour. Now across more eastern parts of Scotland where
01:31you've seen that heavy rain this morning. Quite a keen breeze. It will tend to ease. Still
01:35a little bit of patchy rain across the Highlands. Showers will develop across Northern England,
01:39northern parts of Wales. Heavy showers turning thundery through more southern areas through this
01:44afternoon. But notice towards the west. So as we head through the afternoon, the air will
01:49turn a lot more stable across more western areas allowing for a mix of cloud and sunshine. Some
01:55fine conditions. And that will also be the case for West Wales and later on across the
02:00west country. Although along the south coast we continue to see those thundery downpours clustering
02:05together together giving some high rainfall totals through the day. So through this evening
02:12the thunderstorms will rumble on. The other aspect of the weather through today will be how
02:16humid it is across England and Wales. Temperatures 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. A bit fresher in the
02:22breeze across the north and the west of Scotland on the north coast of Northern Ireland. Here
02:26temperatures 19 or 20 degrees Celsius. Now through this evening and overnight those showers continue
02:32across eastern counties. Some light ones running in on a keen breeze across the north as well
02:36as the west of Scotland. But some clearer skies across much of the Midlands, central southern England,
02:41eventually the Wales as well as the west country. And into Friday morning a bit of a breeze to start
02:47the day across this east coast. Again with the risk of those showers continuing through the morning.
02:52The cloud will build through the middle part of the day and these showers could turn heavy
02:56anywhere from the east Midlands down towards east Anglia as well as the southeast. And still one or two
03:01light ones further north. But it will be a drier day all round elsewhere. Again with the cloud breaking
03:06allowing for some sunshine and temperatures typically the high teens across the north, the low 20s further
03:12south and southeast. So that's the picture on Friday. As we head into the weekend it really is a
03:19tale of two halves. This ridge of high pressure brings with it the prospect of some fine conditions
03:24on Saturday. A great day for being out and about and enjoying some sunshine. However this weather front
03:30here will move in on Sunday bringing clouds and also some outbreaks of rain. And it will track eastwards
03:36through the day. So your outlook through Saturday, your temperatures through the afternoon
03:40rising nicely into the 20s with some sunny spells coming through. And then that band of rain which
03:48could be heavy in places will extend from western parts of Scotland to Northern Ireland down towards
03:53Northern England, Wales eventually reaching the southeast but much later on. And then come Monday
03:59things turn even more unsettled with some heavy rain and also some strong winds wherever you are.
04:06Take care and I'll see you again soon.
