00:00Hello there and a very good morning to you on this Thursday morning which is fine for most
00:05but showery rain coming in from the Atlantic. In fact across Scotland and Northern Ireland
00:09you're under the influence of an Atlantic air mass and that means stronger winds from
00:14time to time showers and then more persistent rain as we head through to Friday. A ridge
00:18of high pressure extends across much of England and Wales. We've lost a lot of the intense
00:22heat that's moved down towards more central and southern parts of Europe. But notice the
00:27winds on Friday across the north west they will pick up some strength. That rain will
00:32be persistent so some high rainfall totals particularly across the highlands as well
00:36as the islands. And in fact this morning you're seeing some showery bursts extending
00:39across western and central parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Brighter skies
00:43across eastern Scotland, the bulk of England and Wales. A pleasant start to the
00:47day. A little fresher than what you're used to relative to the beginning of the
00:51week but certainly some lovely sunshine through the first part of the morning.
00:55Now through the day we watch as this showery rain and also some strong winds extends from
01:02western Scotland, the north and the west of Northern Ireland and pushes ever eastwards
01:06and south eastwards. It does mean for the bulk of England and Wales you may find the
01:11cloud building through the middle part of the day. There's a small chance of a shower
01:14but most places will be dry and warm in that sun. But that showery rain does move across
01:19towards more eastern areas where it would be fairly sporadic but you could catch a heavier
01:24shower and moves down also towards the Isle of Man. Perhaps one or two showers just clipping
01:28the far north and northwest of Wales. Now in the sunshine temperatures across mid Wales
01:3323 Celsius, 26 for the home counties, 18 or 19 for the central belt of Scotland as well
01:40as Northern Ireland. And that wind will continue through the afternoon particularly across the
01:44north as well as the west of Scotland. Showers continue into this evening away from more central
01:49and southern parts of England and Wales. And then this filament of rain just pushes across
01:54western Scotland through the night. So again some wet weather to come here. It turns milder
02:00across Northern Ireland overnight and mostly dry and drier further south with some starry
02:04skies and some sunshine to start the day. But look at this rain on Friday. It's going
02:08to be persistent. Some high rainfall totals accompanied with a strong wind. And that wet weather does
02:13just push down across Northern Ireland, patchy across the far south of Northern Ireland, far south
02:18of Scotland but more cloud. Temperatures then probably 18 or 19 across Scotland and Northern Ireland
02:23but up a notch across England and Wales probably 23 to 27 degrees Celsius. Feeling warm in that
02:30sunshine. Remember UV levels will be high if you catch any brighter moments. Now on Friday evening and
02:36overnight all of this cloud and rain will gradually track southwards. So an increasing amount of cloud
02:42the winds will also pick up a little strength across England and Wales leading to a cloudier day all
02:48round in the south. Showery rain continues in the north particularly towards the west. There will be
02:52some broken clouds allowing for some brighter skies. At the same time showery rain never too far away
02:57as temperatures arrive around 23, 24 across England and Wales. 18 to 21 for Scotland and Northern Ireland
03:03so some warmth in the air particularly if you catch any brighter interludes in shelter. But it will be a
03:09breezy day wherever you are. Now for the 10 day trend this week it's with Ada McGiven. Check it out on our
03:15YouTube channel. I'll see you later.
