26 July - national forecast presented by Clare Nasir
Transcript
00:00Hello then and a very good morning to you on this Saturday morning.
00:04We'll see some fine weather coming through today but always the chance of some showers.
00:08Let me take you through the bigger picture.
00:10This weather front here has introduced more cloud across much of England and also some showers through the day.
00:17Into Saturday evening you can see this area of cloud and rain moves in.
00:21So we could see some wet weather across Scotland as it pushes southwards through a Sunday afternoon.
00:26Again some showers in its wake towards the north-west before a ridge of high pressure extends from the south-west.
00:32Bringing with it the chance of some fine and mostly dry weather into Monday.
00:37But if you are stepping out first thing this morning you can see brighter skies towards eastern counties and southern parts of Scotland.
00:43A few showers across Scotland towards the north there and some drifting across the sky across more western and central areas.
00:49One or two to start the day for Northern Ireland but some brighter skies emerging across northern England.
00:54As we see this cloud and also a little bit of patchy rain across the north of England again.
01:00That's that weak weather front pushing its way eastwards.
01:03So it could be a bit of a cloudy start to the day across some parts of England and Wales.
01:07But brightening skies coming in from the west.
01:10Showers always across more northern and western areas of Scotland.
01:13Extending further east there will be fairly scattered and some developing across northern Ireland as well as northern England.
01:19Eastern England seeing some sharp showers through the afternoon.
01:22A similar situation across Scotland.
01:24One or two could actually turn heavy with the risk of thunder.
01:27But some fine weather to end the day across more western and southwestern areas.
01:31As temperatures arrive around 23 degrees Celsius here.
01:3325 down towards the southeast.
01:35And across Scotland probably 20 in the sunshine.
01:38A similar situation for Northern Ireland.
01:39So some pleasant weather coming through but showers never too far away particularly across northern and eastern areas.
01:46Now into this evening and overnight the clouds and the rain ramp up associated with this weather front.
01:51Winds will pick up also across western Scotland.
01:54Now further south you could see one or two mist and fog patches.
01:57Certainly a dry night here with some starry skies.
02:00But into Sunday morning this showery rain continues to edge southwards.
02:05It's a slow process so a fine start to the day across the southern parts of Scotland.
02:10Showers then fire in across northern Ireland.
02:12And we'll see some better weather across the north and the west of Scotland as we head through the afternoon.
02:16Now for England and Wales the cloud will build through the middle part of the day.
02:20You can't rule out one or two light showers.
02:22And towards eastern counties yet again the chance of a heavier shower with the risk of thunder.
02:27So all in all a bit of a mixed bag through the weekend but it will feel warm certainly where you catch some sunshine.
02:34Temperatures through Sunday coming in around 20 across the north 22 to 24 degrees Celsius further south.
02:40But quite a breeze across western Scotland and Northern Ireland and a bit of a breeze just coming in across the south west of Wales as well as the west country.
02:47Let's take you through Sunday into Monday.
02:50Well, showery rain tends to fade away and that means as the ridge of high pressure extends from the south west we'll see some fine conditions.
02:57Some sunshine coming through, one or two light showers but generally speaking it will be a dry day and temperatures peaking into the 20s.
03:04See you later.
