00:00Let's take a look and see what family we've got here this week.
00:05Hi, I'm Lisa Jackson. My husband Terry and I have triplets.
00:10They're five. Ethan, Will, and Isabella.
00:14Five-year-old triplets. Now that's a handful.
00:18My husband Terry works out of town.
00:21He comes home usually at least one day a week, and that's on Sundays.
00:25And the rest of the time, I'm here with the kids.
00:28No whistles in the house.
00:31I think the biggest stress with him being gone all the time, it is them against me.
00:36I don't feel like I have a break.
00:39Why don't you play a different game?
00:42No! Never!
00:45My life is pretty much work.
00:47I work here in Kansas City for a car sales company,
00:50and it's about three and a half hours away from home.
00:53I work until night, come home, watch a movie or something, and go to bed.
00:57There are weekends that he doesn't come home.
00:59I think it's definitely unfair to the kids.
01:01You're supposed to come in today.
01:03What am I supposed to tell the kids?
01:05Why?
01:06Dad!
01:07The frustration and tension levels in our house are very, very high.
01:10I'll be honest, sometimes I feel like I don't want to go home to that.
01:13Dad won't come home today.
01:15Not much daddy time here.
01:18Isabella has the worst temper of the three.
01:21Sometimes she's very physical.
01:23Take your hands off!
01:26Isabella, stop it!
01:27I have a real difficulty relating with Isabella.
01:30Will?
01:31Ethan?
01:32Hello?
01:33Ethan is the oldest triplet.
01:36When Ethan doesn't get his way and he's throwing his little tantrums,
01:42he's been known to kick me or hit me.
01:45Will is the middle child.
01:47Will tends to get very clingy when my husband comes home.
01:50You're gonna kill somebody!
01:52I used to think that when they were babies, you know, that was the hardest thing
01:56and that it would only get better.
01:58And now this is so much more emotionally tiring.
02:03Daddy is working on the house, not you!
02:06Super Nanny, we're out of ideas. We need your help.
02:10Super Nanny, with five-year-old triplets and my husband being away,
02:14I'm completely overwhelmed. Please come help me.
02:18You could definitely do with some help. I'm on my way.
02:37Hello.
02:38Hi.
02:39How are you?
02:40Well, hi.
02:41This me, I'm Cho.
02:43Hi, I'm Lisa.
02:44Hi. Hello. What's your name?
02:46Ethan.
02:47Hi, Ethan.
02:48Pleased to meet you. I'm Jojo.
02:50Hi, I'm Terry.
02:51Pleased to meet you.
02:52Nice to meet you.
02:53When I first met Jo, obviously, she was very focused and observing.
02:56I found that it was very intimidating for me.
02:58And what's your name?
02:59Will.
03:00Hi, Will. Pleased to meet you.
03:01Are you gonna shake my hand? Pleased to meet you.
03:03This is Isabella.
03:05Pleased to meet you.
03:07So what would normally be happening now, Lisa, this morning?
03:11Um, this is about it.
03:13They kind of run around and do whatever.
03:16Just survive the day.
03:18I wasn't there long before Isabella and Ethan started fighting over a stick.
03:23Hey!
03:24Hey, guys.
03:25No fighting.
03:26No fighting.
03:27No fighting.
03:28No fighting.
03:29Take it away for now.
03:30No matter what Dad said, the kids just weren't listening.
03:33Hey!
03:34Hey, Belle?
03:35No!
03:36I want it!
03:37Why do you want it right now?
03:38I want it!
03:39Never!
03:40Okay.
03:41Let me go!
03:43Hey, hey.
03:44Stop following me!
03:45It was definitely very embarrassing to have Jo standing there watching me.
03:50Would you like to see it or anything?
03:52No, I think I'm going to stand and carry on watching.
03:55It was a situation where I fell out of control.
03:59No, you're not climbing up there.
04:01Hey.
04:02Ethan.
04:03That's it.
04:04I want it!
04:05No.
04:06Terry couldn't manage these kids.
04:07Stop hitting.
04:08Really.
04:09Stop hitting.
04:10I was mad at Daddy because I was hitting him and kicking.
04:14Stop.
04:15Enough.
04:16You're staying in your room.
04:17No.
04:18Five minutes.
04:19Five minutes.
04:20I kept waiting for Dad to show some authority.
04:22Stay in your room.
04:23No!
04:24But it just never happened.
04:29Don't kick your door.
04:31I'll see you guys.
04:34Later on in the afternoon, Terry went off to do an errand and left Lisa with the kids,
04:39which was nothing new to her.
04:41You can share it.
04:43Yeah.
04:44Ethan was very quietly playing his own little basketball game.
04:49I know what it's called too.
04:50Slam dunk.
04:51Slam dunk.
04:52Slam dunk.
04:53Yeah.
04:54And Isabella decided that she wanted to join in and play with him too.
04:58But the way she approached the situation was very aggressive.
05:02Let me play!
05:04Let me play!
05:06Let me play!
05:07Play basketball!
05:08Now!
05:09She becomes very forceful where she physically lashes out.
05:12Ethan, take it!
05:13Talk!
05:14Mom's role when this is all happening is of a spectator.
05:18Ethan, you need to let her play too.
05:19Ethan!
05:20Isabel gets mad, then I run away because she's really mean.
05:32I lock the door and push it.
05:35Help!
05:37I hate him because he locks me on my wheel.
05:46My mommy always get the key to open it.
05:50And the key is a hanger.
05:52We're in trouble now.
05:55She's found the coat hanger.
05:56So help me bend it.
05:58Well, I just grab a hanger and then I sneak up and then I try to open it,
06:06but it's hard.
06:07Can you help me bend this?
06:09I'm sorry, I can't.
06:10I'm afraid.
06:11Maybe I could ask Mom.
06:14I was thinking, oh no, I'm not getting involved in this one.
06:20Can you bend this hanger?
06:23Be very careful.
06:25When your child comes downstairs and asks you to straighten a coat hanger,
06:29you've got to question, what does she want the coat hanger for?
06:32But instead of going upstairs and seeing what exactly is happening,
06:36she doesn't.
06:37I think this little girl's seen someone do this before.
06:39Why do you not want to come out of your bedroom?
06:42Because it's all dirty.
06:44I'm about to go in my hallway.
06:47Ethan, I'm not.
06:49Let's be quiet so he doesn't know we're here.
06:54Is Ethan in there?
06:56Finally, Mom came upstairs to check on the children.
06:59Ethan, why don't you open your door?
07:02Unlock your door, Ethan.
07:06By the time Mom decided to intervene...
07:08What are you doing in there?
07:09Everybody forgot why the door was locked in the first place.
07:12Casually laying on the bed.
07:13Hey, come on you guys.
07:21Ethan.
07:22The kids had some time to play and then Mom decided it was time for them to come in.
07:26Isabella, what are you doing?
07:28Inside right now.
07:29Isabella, come on.
07:30Now.
07:31Will, come on.
07:33Ethan, now.
07:34Mom talks to the children like she is telling them off all the time.
07:40Ethan, no.
07:41You know what?
07:42You're going to spend the afternoon in your room if you don't get over here.
07:45Get inside, take your shoes off and go wash your hands.
07:48Ethan, now.
07:49You're a monster.
07:53I've noticed that Lisa doesn't have a schedule for the kids.
07:56So I was curious what she had planned for them next.
07:59What do you do with them?
08:01They kind of run around.
08:03They watch a lot of TV.
08:10I think if I sit on this sofa any longer I'm about to doze off myself.
08:20You need to turn it off right now.
08:22No.
08:23Go.
08:24Finally, Mom turned the TV off.
08:26But Ethan, he wasn't in agreement with that plan.
08:29Ethan.
08:30No.
08:31No more game.
08:33Hey.
08:34Oh my God.
08:35That was not nice.
08:36Stop it.
08:37Ethan, stop it.
08:40Ethan, stop it.
08:41These kids are really aggressive.
08:42And watching Ethan punch and kick his mom makes me realize how much he tolerates.
08:47Stop hitting me.
08:50Ethan, stop it.
08:52I felt a little bit of helplessness with Ethan throwing the tantrum because I really didn't
08:58know how to handle him.
09:00Don't touch me.
09:01Stop it.
09:02Sit down.
09:03It seems to me like Mom's just given up when it comes to dishing out discipline.
09:09You feel like you're being defeated.
09:11I feel more like it's just that it's them against me sometimes.
09:15Do you know why you're in your room?
09:17What?
09:18Because you were hitting me.
09:20You're not the boss of this house.
09:22Daddy.
09:24In the middle of Mom struggling with Ethan, Dad came home.
09:29Hey, ma'am.
09:30Dad.
09:31What were you playing?
09:32I played a game.
09:33What was the game?
09:34Terry didn't even bother to ask Lisa what was happening with Ethan.
09:38He was up there because he was hitting me.
09:41So, you guys, when it comes to discipline, are you on the same page or not on the same
09:47page?
09:48I didn't realize what was going on.
09:50I guess we didn't communicate very well.
09:52Terry, that doesn't matter.
09:53What matters is he was hitting me.
09:55That's why he was in his room.
09:57In the evening, I spoke to Dad about his work schedule.
10:06How much time do you get?
10:08With these guys?
10:09Yeah.
10:10With work and stuff.
10:11With work, it's been like this for almost seven months.
10:14My schedule is very difficult for the family.
10:16It's been very strained for us, me and Lisa.
10:19It's been very hard for me and the children.
10:21But do they ask?
10:22Do they say, you know, is Daddy coming back soon?
10:23How many days?
10:24Yeah, they do.
10:25They ask how many days and what day and so I go through the days with them.
10:29What today is, you know, how many days it is until you're coming home.
10:33He tends to think that I just want him to come home so that I can have a break.
10:38And that's not the case.
10:40I want him home because we miss him.
10:43We want him here.
10:44The kids miss him terribly.
10:45What about with Isabella?
10:46Do you get much time with her?
10:47Do you get much quality time with her?
10:49Just the pair of you?
10:50Just two of us?
10:51Yeah.
10:52No.
10:53I believe Isabella has had a hard time developing a relationship with me.
10:57Where I probably do fail is I think she likes little girl things and I don't bring
11:02that to the picture very well.
11:03There's a lot of times I feel Isabella doesn't like me.
11:05She's always distant with me.
11:07I mean, there's a definite distance there.
11:08Terry's the parent here.
11:10If he wants his relationship to change with Isabella, then he's going to have to make
11:13more of an effort.
11:14And that's just one of the things I'm going to be working on with his family.
11:21Let me say, your three children have intelligence, have a fantastic sense of humor.
11:28And it's an absolute delight because they're all so different.
11:33But, commitment, enthusiasm, it's not here.
11:43Somewhere along the line that's been forgotten.
11:46Let's talk about discipline.
11:49Where is discipline in this house?
11:52I'm not very good at it, so I just don't know what I'm doing.
11:57I try.
11:59I mean, I'm only here on the weekends, so.
12:02Punching, kicking, slapping.
12:06Why do you guys tolerate that behavior?
12:10Well, I don't think it's acceptable, but how do you deal with it?
12:15You don't deal with it.
12:17Ethan was playing with his basketball, and Isabella thought it was okay just to go over
12:26and say to Ethan, I want to play.
12:29Mm-hmm.
12:30I heard you turn around and say to Ethan, let Isabella play.
12:35Well, I have told her when, you know, that she needs to ask nicely.
12:38I didn't realize that that is how she approached him about playing.
12:41But you were in front of her when it happened.
12:43No, I wasn't.
12:44Well, I was there, and I know you was there.
12:46I was in the kitchen.
12:47I didn't hear what was going on.
12:49I beg to differ.
12:50Okay.
12:51I beg to differ because I think that actually what is happening is that you're seeing a lot
12:56of things, and you're ignoring it.
12:58And I think you are as well, Terry.
13:00The routine, well, there isn't one, that creates any time for the children to be creative.
13:06They do that.
13:07You can't say you didn't see that because they had paper here.
13:10They had crayons.
13:11They were drawing.
13:12And what were you doing?
13:14I don't know.
13:15That's my point, Lisa.
13:18They want to sit down with Mummy and say, look what I've done, and you make one as well,
13:23and why don't you do anything like that with him?
13:26I don't know.
13:29I guess I'll start.
13:31Why don't you do it, Terry?
13:32Sit down and draw with him?
13:34The kids are bored.
13:36I was bored.
13:40Terry, you go to work all week.
13:44How many hours away?
13:45Three and a half.
13:46Three and a half hours away.
13:49Every week.
13:50Mm-hmm.
13:51And you finish when?
13:52Saturday.
13:53Exactly.
13:54Why do you choose to come home on a Sunday when you could be home on Saturday night?
14:05I don't know.
14:07Maybe I would make some bad decisions or been selfish.
14:11Sometimes it's hard to hear the truth.
14:13When Joe broke down a lot of the problems, it hit home.
14:17It was very hard.
14:18Where are you making priorities to make sure that the pair of you have some form of a family life?
14:29Who's suffering here?
14:31The kids.
14:32The little time that we do have together, all five of us, you know, we're not making the most of it.
14:39I do agree with some of what Joe said.
14:44However, I would have appreciated for our meeting to be more of a meeting instead of the confrontational tone that she used with us.
14:55Are you both willing to put in 100% commitment?
14:58Mm-hmm.
15:00Yes.
15:01Okay.
15:02So, let's start work.
15:09Hello.
15:10With the family meeting behind us, it was time to move on.
15:13And the first thing that I wanted to deal with was discipline.
15:16So I brought in the naughty stalls.
15:18This is your naughty stall.
15:20And I'm going to put it here.
15:22Once I explained what they'd be used for, I could see their little wheels in motion.
15:27And I knew they would catch on.
15:29It will be whoever heard you and whoever they did.
15:35Well, it will be one of those most definitely.
15:38When Joe brought out the naughty stalls, I thought they were really cute.
15:41I really wasn't sure how that would work with my kids.
15:46Later on, Lisa was getting lunch ready for the kids.
15:48But Isabella, she wasn't happy with what Mum was offering.
15:52I'm not eating that.
15:54No, because it's not mixed stall.
15:57No!
15:58Mommy is not going to do it because you are a big girl and you can do it yourself.
16:03Well, this is what I made for lunch for you.
16:05Isabella wasn't giving up.
16:07So I told Mum, give her a straight warning.
16:09If you don't stop this behaviour, you'll sit on the naughty stall.
16:13Mommy is not talking to me.
16:16Okay, she's having a temper tantrum.
16:18But she ignored Mum.
16:19So it was off to the naughty stall for her.
16:21Come on.
16:22No tone voice, remember, you're not pleased.
16:26She's not listening.
16:27You need to stop this behaviour and that is why you are on the naughty stall.
16:32Mommy, come back!
16:35And in the meantime, Will started to play up and then she had to follow through with him.
16:40Will, I want you to eat at least three pieces of ravioli.
16:44And if you do not, you will be sitting on the naughty stall.
16:48Here's your ravioli.
16:49I wanted one!
16:51Ignore it, we're not going there.
16:53So at one point, both of them, Isabella and Will, were on the naughty stall.
16:59Eye contact!
17:00Because you have refused to eat your lunch, you're sitting on the naughty stall.
17:05Having both Isabella and Will on the naughty stall at the same time,
17:09I got a good crash course in what Joe is trying to teach me.
17:13Mommy puts it on the naughty stall. Makes me mad.
17:17And now with Isabella.
17:20I want an apology from you.
17:22Why are these in the hair?
17:25She's not going to apologise, she wants to negotiate on the naughty stall.
17:28This is non-negotiating.
17:30Mum finally stepped up with the discipline and she stuck with it
17:33and got apologies from both children.
17:36I want you to say you're sorry to me.
17:38I'm sorry!
17:40It was nice to get an apology from Isabella where she wasn't screaming.
17:44I want you to say you're sorry to me.
17:46Sorry!
17:48Come here.
17:50Before Joe's instruction, I would have just said fine and I would have given up, given in.
17:58I knew that I had to stick with it in order for it to work and eventually it did.
18:02Over here.
18:06There's no excuse for tearing up to have a close relationship with Isabella.
18:10He just needs to take the time to find out what she's interested in.
18:13So that's what we're going to do together.
18:15Okay, arts and crafts.
18:17Uh-huh.
18:18Alright, I do opportunity because Isabella is normally roughhousing with all the boys.
18:22Dad spends more time with the boys because he knows what they're interested in.
18:25Whereas with Isabella, he's not too sure.
18:28So I wanted him to have some quiet time with Isabella so we could get to know her.
18:31What's your favourite colour?
18:32The yellow and pink.
18:33I love to make joy because it's my favourite.
18:36You cannot use a lot of yellow.
18:40I'll take off these ones here for you.
18:42You can.
18:43Here, hold on.
18:44Terry and Isabella were communicating a lot more.
18:46How does this look?
18:47This kind of needs more.
18:49More?
18:50What's key here is to be able to interact with your children to start asking questions
18:55and find out about each other.
18:56Actually, some of these.
19:00Here's one.
19:01This is the first time where I've sat down with Bill and attempted to build communication
19:06and that was very exciting.
19:08You know what I made this for?
19:09I made it for you.
19:10It was fun that Dad made joyous me.
19:13You want to do this again with Dad?
19:15At another time.
19:17At another time?
19:18Yeah.
19:19Okay, JoJo has got something very exciting here.
19:26What it's going to do is allow you all to speak to Daddy via the webcam.
19:33These children need to be speaking to their Daddy more during the week.
19:36So I've set up a video phone which is going to be absolutely fantastic
19:39so they can let their Dad know what's been going on.
19:42Okay, so when Daddy's in Kansas working, you'll be able to talk to Daddy on this laptop
19:48before you go off to sleep.
19:51Exciting?
19:52Is it very cool?
19:54Really, really cool.
19:56What is it?
19:57Even though the video phone was for Dad when he was in Kansas City, the kids just couldn't
20:01wait to try it out.
20:03Okay, say hi, Mom.
20:04She's talking to you.
20:05I'm watching you.
20:06I think the video phone is going to be very successful, very excited.
20:15I like the concept of us being able to see each other.
20:18I think facial expressions will be huge for us to maintain a relationship.
20:27It was time for Dad to go back to Kansas City for the week for work.
20:31And he did say goodbye to his family.
20:33Can I talk to you this week on the phone?
20:35Yeah.
20:36Okay.
20:37I'll see you next week.
20:38I love you.
20:39I love you.
20:40Confident voice, Dad, okay?
20:41It's not a bad thing, is it?
20:42I will call you on the computer this whole week, and I will call you when I get there
20:56tonight, okay?
20:57Now I have to go.
20:58I really hope that Dad uses the video phone, because if he does, it's going to make a huge
21:04difference to his family whilst he's gone.
21:06I wanted to surprise the children, so I told them that JoJo was taking them on an adventure.
21:12Any guesses?
21:13Yes.
21:14We're going to learn gruddy.
21:16The children have got lots of energy, but they use it to be aggressive with one another.
21:21So I thought it would be good for them to get them involved in martial arts, so that they
21:25could use their energy in a positive way.
21:27I decided that I would suit up as well to get the kids motivated.
21:31We're going to learn about Taekwondo today, which is a Korean martial art, and we teach
21:35a lot about respect, and we'll talk more about that later.
21:38Very good.
21:40Ready?
21:41Taekwondo.
21:43Whilst the class was carrying on, Will lost concentration, and he wanted to come over to
21:50Mum and hug her and stay with her.
21:52Come here, buddy.
21:53I'm going to teach you how to kick and punch, okay?
21:55It's frustrating and a little bit heartbreaking, you know, to see him wanting me and me having
22:00to tell him, you know, you need to go back to your spot.
22:04Yeah!
22:05Ha-yah!
22:06Taekwondo!
22:07Ha-yah!
22:08Ha-yah!
22:09Awesome!
22:10Let me see.
22:11Ha-yah!
22:12Oh, right here!
22:13Will tried to escape and come over to Mum again, but this time she wasn't giving in.
22:17Go have fun.
22:18Go.
22:19Go and have fun.
22:20Come on, Will.
22:21We'll be back in a minute when the class ends.
22:22If you have children that don't concentrate as much, teachers will always recommend that
22:27parents leave the room because it allows the child to focus on the sport.
22:32What part of the fist do you break with?
22:34Ha-yah!
22:35Whoa!
22:36Everybody give a big hand!
22:37Whoa!
22:38You want to try that or you want your sister to go first?
22:40I want to go first.
22:41Okay, come on up, Isabella.
22:43I get to punch and then I just did this to break the wood.
22:48Ha-yah!
22:49Whoa!
22:50Without Mum there, Will wasn't distracted.
22:52Give it a great big whack!
22:53Three!
22:54Ha-yah!
22:55It was exciting to see my kids participating in the Taekwondo class.
22:59They could see that they were enjoying it.
23:01And then I got a surprise.
23:02The master called me over for a turn.
23:04Come on up, Nanny Jo!
23:07Nanny Jo, break the wood!
23:10Hi-yah!
23:11Hi-yah!
23:12Whoo!
23:13He looks good for a big hand!
23:15The kids had a lot of fun and now they have a way to channel their energy into something
23:20positive.
23:21Thank you very much.
23:23We're very excited.
23:25Thank you, JoJo, for taking a Taekwondo!
23:28So who's got green fingers?
23:31I've got green fingers.
23:32Have you got green fingers?
23:33You've got green fingers?
23:34The children can get bored very easily and that leads to them fighting and squabbling
23:39with one another.
23:40What we're going to do now is to build and plant your own garden.
23:47This project's just a fun and easy way for mum to get involved with her children.
23:52Okay, am I going to have to get my hands in dirt?
23:54They're not ready!
23:55Yeah.
23:56Okay, this is good.
23:57So mum, look, they've got their own watering can and spade there.
24:02Do you want to give one each to them?
24:03Okay.
24:04Ethan, you would like the green one?
24:06Isabella, which one would you like?
24:07I'd like this one.
24:08Yes.
24:09So what I'd like you to do is to delegate them each a job.
24:12That's the second step.
24:13Okay.
24:14Now, first of all, you know what we have to do?
24:16What?
24:17We have to put some soil in here.
24:19Let's bring this right over here.
24:20Okay, I'm going to come over here, mum.
24:22And the third is to make sure that you supervise what's happening, but allow yourself every
24:26now and then to step back to watch them.
24:29Why not?
24:30We have to get the whole bag done.
24:33This is hard work.
24:35They got a kick out of it.
24:38Lisa, you need some for these rocks.
24:40Yeah!
24:41I wanted to show Lisa that this activity would be a great way to show how they could all work
24:45together as a team.
24:46Oh, good job, Isabella.
24:48I did the dirt to put in a bucket and I take the flowers out and I plant flowers.
24:57I put a root in and it's growing.
25:01We're all finished!
25:04The community garden, they really enjoyed.
25:07I thought it was a great idea.
25:08They really worked well together, so that was really kind of neat to see.
25:12Hey, well done, guys!
25:14Yeah!
25:15Well done!
25:18That evening, the kids were really excited for Dad to make his first video phone call to
25:23them.
25:24Here we go.
25:25Come on, Daddy!
25:26Let's hear from you!
25:27Let's hear from you!
25:28Let's hear from you!
25:29Let's hear from you!
25:30Let's hear from you!
25:32There it is!
25:33Daddy!
25:34There!
25:35Yay!
25:36You're big!
25:37You're huge!
25:38You're huge!
25:39You're huge!
25:40Hey, Dad!
25:41Hey, Will!
25:42What are you guys doing today?
25:43We didn't cry!
25:44I broke the wood!
25:45I broke the wood as a hammer smack!
25:46Me too!
25:47Me too!
25:48Me too!
25:49Me too!
25:50Me too!
25:51The kids are really excited to try out the video phone.
25:52I think it's going to really help their relationship with Terry.
25:56Hey, guys!
25:57Can you hold the board up that you broke?
25:58See?
25:59There we go!
26:00You broke that?
26:01Yep!
26:02I did!
26:03I did!
26:04I showed him how I break the wood like this!
26:05Bah!
26:06What did we do today?
26:07We-we breaded flowers!
26:08We-we breaded flowers!
26:09Dad threw a crab and flower!
26:10I liked Daddy when he calls us on a video phone.
26:13You can just see they're very excited.
26:14They're like, Oh, Daddy's on the computer!
26:16So, it went very well and, uh, Oh, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just, it's just
26:21I like Daddy when he calls us on the video phone.
26:28You can just see they're very excited.
26:30They're like, oh, Daddy's on the computer.
26:32So it went very well.
26:34And, oh, it's just a neat way to communicate.
26:38Bye, Dad.
26:39Bye, Belle.
26:40Bye.
26:41I'm going to eat.
26:42Okay.
26:43And we'll talk to you at 7.30 tomorrow night.
26:46Okay.
26:47Bye, guys.
26:49Bye.
26:51I'm feeling a little apprehensive with Jo leaving.
26:59Give Jojo a hug.
27:00Now I'm going to be on my own trying to remember, you know, what she's taught me.
27:05The naughty stools, we know about those.
27:08Will.
27:09Oh.
27:10Hey.
27:11Okay.
27:12Will, come here.
27:15Stand up.
27:15If you cannot listen to me, you will sit on the naughty stools.
27:19All right, good, Mom.
27:20Mommy.
27:21Hey.
27:22Oh, okay.
27:23I just said no more hurting.
27:25I don't like this hitting.
27:27Well, I almost made it out of the door.
27:29Explanation on the stool, Mom.
27:31You're here because you're hitting.
27:34I'm going to leave you to deal with the naughty stool.
27:37You seem to be doing a good job there.
27:39Make sure we keep that up.
27:40Okay.
27:40I hope that Mom stays motivated while I'm gone.
27:43And Dad has got some work to do, but we'll see how they get on.
27:47Take care.
27:48See you soon.
27:49Okay.
27:49Bye-bye.
27:49Bye-bye.
27:50Bye-bye.
27:50Bye-bye.
27:50Bye-bye.
27:51I want to make something.
27:58I want to make a paper hat.
27:59You need to think about how to make a paper hat.
28:02What color do you want?
28:03That's terrific, Mom.
28:04You set the kids up with a project.
28:06Take two pieces of paper, fold it.
28:10Oh, wow.
28:11I love that you're getting involved with them.
28:14Mom.
28:15What?
28:16I'm making a paper hat.
28:18Look at that.
28:19It went all the way into the kitchen.
28:20It was really neat to see them, you know, enjoying spending time together.
28:24I definitely want to keep up with this.
28:27Mom.
28:28What?
28:29Don't poke it by not asking.
28:33I want cats.
28:35You took it because I wanted it first.
28:41You took that by stealing.
28:44There is another truck over there.
28:46You can use that one and then you two can take it.
28:49It has no traffic.
28:51Isabella is starting.
28:52Okay.
28:53You know that I don't like hitting and I'm not going to deal with this anymore.
28:57You wait for me.
28:59You continue to talk to me that way.
29:01I'm going to add five minutes for every time you say that.
29:04You know that's not the rule, Mom.
29:05It's all pain.
29:09Don't argue with her.
29:11Just walk away.
29:14Up for me.
29:15Just go away.
29:16I don't like you because you're not nice.
29:19And now you lose it because you're not nice.
29:22She's trying to wind you up.
29:23I would like an apology for the names and the hitting.
29:27It's done.
29:29Come here.
29:30No hitting and no name calling, okay?
29:33Okay.
29:38Dad?
29:39Yes.
29:39Ah, dad's home.
29:40Why is Isabella playing on her own?
29:49We're supposed to be spending time with her.
29:52Terry, if you don't make the effort, your relationship's not going to get any better.
29:56Yep.
29:57I'm on my way back.
29:58Okay, so let's take a look and see what we've got here.
30:14Yellow.
30:15Pieces of paper.
30:16Fold it.
30:17That side up.
30:21Look at that.
30:22It went all the way into the kitchen.
30:24Did you have fun?
30:25I did.
30:26I'm working on, you know, the creativity.
30:29They're having fun.
30:30You're having fun.
30:32You're engaging with them.
30:33And, I mean, it was just a very pleasant afternoon to see.
30:37Well done.
30:38Oh, good.
30:39You know that I don't like hitting and I'm not going to deal with this anymore.
30:46Okay.
30:48When she's on the naughty stool, you ignore her.
30:50What she's trying to do is to wind you up and get your attention.
30:53She's annoyed.
30:54What you've ultimately done is taken away the power and control that she wanted.
31:00You don't have to interact with her to make you feel better.
31:04Okay.
31:05Because that's what it's about, really.
31:07It's about you feeling, I will get the last word because I'm the mother in the house.
31:11But she already had the last word.
31:12She's on the stool.
31:13Okay.
31:14You definitely came to me with concerns of your relationship with Isabella.
31:29And that's what you're going to need to work on.
31:32And working on that takes time.
31:34But it means you've got to put that time in.
31:36Here's, I guess, my question.
31:39When I'm home, Will demands my attention.
31:43I mean, do I say, okay, I'm playing with Belle.
31:46Or do I somehow push him away?
31:48He does have to understand that you're home and that you want to play with all of them.
31:52But that doesn't mean that somewhere throughout the day, you can't just have 20 minutes with just the one child.
31:59I was happy to hear some positive reinforcement from Joe.
32:05And I appreciated the constructive criticism.
32:08Do I have two parents on board for some more work?
32:11Yes.
32:12Definitely.
32:13Okay, let's get going.
32:14Belle and Daddy are going to play the favorites game.
32:18Okay?
32:19Terry's relationship with Isabella still needs work.
32:23She's five years old, and he still doesn't really know what she likes.
32:27See all these envelopes?
32:29This handle?
32:30They've all got questions on them.
32:31What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
32:34What animal would you like to cuddle the most at the farmyard?
32:38This is a fun little game that's going to help Dad get to know Isabella a lot better.
32:43Okay.
32:43Quite close.
32:45You can put it down.
32:46Right here?
32:47You found it.
32:48This one?
32:49Yeah.
32:50The elephant?
32:52Wow.
32:53You're now going to place it on the pink card.
32:56They stick them onto a board to make a collage, so they know what each other's interested in.
33:01Just getting to know her, getting to know a little bit about her personality, just getting a chance to learn about my daughter.
33:08I was very excited.
33:10Vanilla.
33:11Yeah.
33:12Wow.
33:14Brownies?
33:14I love brownies.
33:16Oh.
33:17No.
33:18Is that nearer?
33:20You got it.
33:20She was very affectionate.
33:22There were lots of big smiles.
33:23Yeah, strawberry.
33:25Daddy was getting to know his daughter Isabella a lot better.
33:28And Isabella was getting to know her daddy better too.
33:30I had a good game, Dad.
33:32That was a very good game.
33:33I could tell if I was enjoying my company and, I'll be honest, it made me feel wonderful.
33:39This is mine.
33:40I gotta keep this one.
33:41I gotta go show all the people at work what you like.
33:43I like Daddy.
33:44When he sees the things that's my favorite.
33:48That would be good.
33:49Okay.
33:49And you could see it.
33:51And when some people come in, they could see it.
33:54That's true.
33:55I think really for Lisa and Terry, it's been a real realization of what they need to put
34:04first.
34:05Well, our nanny's work is done here.
34:07They're children.
34:10Catch.
34:11Catch.
34:13You got it?
34:14When George is gone, I'm going to miss her.
34:17Bye-bye.
34:19Bye-bye, dog.
34:20Keep going to that Taekwondo, because you were very good at it.
34:26Bye-bye.
34:28Bye, Jojo.
34:30Thank you again.
34:32You're more than welcome.
34:33The biggest impact Jo had on my family was not just that she made us believe that these
34:39things are possible at this time, but that she showed us how to do them.
34:44Yes, Ethan.
34:45Will you have your glasses on to the next house?
34:48Will I have my glasses on?
34:49Yes.
34:50When I first arrive, I'll have my glasses on.
34:53Why?
34:54Why?
34:55That's because Jojo can get a very good look down her spectacles at exactly what all the
35:00children are doing.
35:03Definitely, I'm a better parent today with the tools that I have than I was before Jo came.
35:08I wanted to leave you with this.
35:10Oh, wow.
35:11Okay?
35:12A calendar for the photos, the kids from different months.
35:15Oh, wow.
35:16And yourselves.
35:17Because I do feel it will be a marvellous idea for you, Dad, before you go, to write
35:24down on the weekend the things that you may do with the children together.
35:27It will allow the children to look forward to doing those things for when Daddy comes home.
35:31All right, so there you go.
35:33And you've got the good work.
35:35I think Jo has had a very good impact on our family.
35:39I think we have a better understanding of discipline and some boundaries have been established.
35:46Take care.
35:47Bye-bye.
35:48Bye-bye.
35:50The Jacksons have made a lot of progress.
35:53Mum spends more quality time with the children, and Dad has a better relationship with his whole
35:58family, especially Isabella.
36:01I'm proud of the changes they've made.
36:02I'm proud of the changes they've made.
