Ingredients:
1 cup whole wheat flour 2 tbsp cornflour 1 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 tbsp raw sugar
1 cup / 250 ml lukewarm milk 2 tbsp melted butter 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Method:
- In a bowl, add the whole wheat flour, cornflour, baking powder, salt and raw sugar and stir well until all the ingredients are mixed together. - In a glass, add the milk, melted butter and vanilla extract and whisk all the ingredients well. - Make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and then pour the wet ingredients into it. - Mix both, the wet and the dry ingredients and beat very lightly. Make sure you do not over-beat the batter. - Add little water, if required. Different flours have different water absorption capacities and hence you need to adjust the amount of water used until you get the right consistency. - Allow the batter to rest for about 5 minutes. - Brush the pre-heated waffle iron with melted butter using a silicon brush. - Pour the batter right into the centre of the waffle iron and distribute the batter at the sides evenly. - Let it cook for about 5 minutes. - The waffles are ready to be served. You can serve them with jam, fresh fruits, maple syrup, whipped cream or honey.
