00:00We perfectly hit the halfway point of the season today.
00:03This was game 81.
00:06So we are halfway through this thing.
00:08There's plenty of time.
00:10I think the Giants have the roster to compete.
00:12I think they will compete.
00:14I think they're probably a playoff team.
00:17And then we'll go from there.
00:18Yes, they've made wonderful moves.
00:21Rafi Devers is on the team.
00:22Did you see how far he hit that ball today?
00:25Multi-hit game, including a 400-something foot home run.
00:29Wonderful.
00:31Absolutely wonderful.
00:32This is more about the behavior of the last 24 hours.
00:37You know I hate using this word in sports media and sports reaction.
00:42I hate it because I think it's so overused.
00:45But this was kind of embarrassing.
00:47And I don't mean the final scores.
00:49I find it absolutely unfathomable.
00:55Unfathomable.
00:56That a couple of guys would get hit by pitches in the ninth inning of a 4-2 baseball game.
01:03You rallied to tie the game.
01:06You killed your own rally by sending a guy home when the ball was already in short left field.
01:13And then because that rally was started by two hit-by-pitch situations,
01:19you go into the locker room after the game and tell the world that you're mad and you're about to hit the other team.
01:26And then you do it and blow the next game also largely because of it.
01:31That is wild behavior by a veteran team.
01:35Right.
01:35That's absurd.
01:37And it's out of character for what you think and expect from this Giants team.
01:42And last night, the way that thing unfolded in front of your eyes where you had another base running situation,
01:50another guy gets cut down, and then you go out and you blow it.
01:53And I think Butch is right about Doval.
01:56What happened to the fastball?
01:57Kid, you used to throw 99 and 100, and now you're just slider-rific.
02:01All you do is throw that slide piece.
02:04It's like last year all over again where he has lost confidence in his number one pitch,
02:08and so he's not even pitching backwards.
02:10He's not throwing the fastball.
02:12Then today, you're all mad, and so you take it out on them in the first.
02:17You fall behind, and you get embarrassed by a young, not very good team.
02:22They put up a 12 spot on you, Mark.
02:24That's embarrassing.
02:25Yeah.
02:26Yeah.
02:2724 runs in three games.
02:30And I still haven't heard of any of their hitters.
02:33None of them.
02:34That's the youngest team in the league.
02:36And they have no one who scares you.
02:39Well.
02:40No one.
02:40They do now.
02:42No.
02:43You should be scared.
02:44They put up a 12.
02:44They put up a dozen on you today.
02:46That's on you.
02:47I'm not giving them credit for anything.
02:50That's you getting in your own head and throwing a bunch of meatballs up there.
02:55And maybe this is unfair, but watching Sean Jelly give up four runs on five hits,
03:01like essentially this game was still in the balance,
03:06and he went out there and turned a close baseball game into a complete laugher
03:12over to the Miami Marlins.
03:13So maybe this is unfair, but the last few times out, he has looked very shaky.
03:18I'm going to put Sean Jelly over here on the whatever list until everything surrounding him
03:26has been figured out.
03:27Because I get it.
03:28He is probably wildly distracted right now.
03:32I understand.
03:34I have no idea what the hell is going on with him and his family situation,
03:38but when it ends up on social media, that is a grab your Adam's apple moment.
03:43And either one of two things is true.
03:47Either Sean has done some things that are completely inappropriate or, quite frankly,
03:53his wife has.
03:55Like, either he did something or she's upset and put it on social media when he's a public figure,
04:01and it's just, it's all bad.
04:03It's all bad.
04:04And now you're out here gas canning games against the Marlins in the eighth inning.
04:08It's just, like, dude, let's go find someone in the minors until we figure this out.
04:14Because I get it, dude.
04:15It's super distracting to be at work when stuff like that's going on with your family.
04:19I don't know how you go about doing your job when you've got that level of distraction.
04:24And I'm just thinking about what broke while we were talking to Butcher Boy,
04:28that Justin Tucker has been suspended the first ten games of the upcoming NFL season.
04:33And I'm not comparing what Sean Jelly is alleged to have done to Justin Tucker
04:38because Justin Tucker's allegations are closer to Deshaun Watson.
04:42But the distraction factor, Justin Tucker had a bad year last year,
04:46and we didn't know why until the news broke later in the year.
04:50And it's like, yeah, how do you perform as a professional athlete
04:53when you have all these things going on in your life?
04:56That's an interesting comparison.
04:57I have no idea if Justin even knew that this was coming.
05:00Like, Justin Tucker, you compare it to Deshaun Watson,
05:02and it is that kind of a situation.
05:04Maybe he knew it was coming, and that was distracting to him.
05:07He's also getting a lot older.
05:09So, you know, maybe he just kind of hit a wall.
05:12Maybe.
05:12But by the way, he doesn't have to worry about kicking field goals anymore.
05:15That career's over.
05:17That's going to be over.
05:19Yeah.
05:19And nobody's signing a kicker who's on a ten-game suspension
05:23for, you know, massage gate round two
05:27and, oh, by the way, wasn't kicking the ball very straight anymore anyway.
05:31That's a wrap.
05:32And it might be a wrap on his Hall of Fame candidacy,
05:35depending on how this all comes out.
05:37Because very few kickers get in,
05:39but he was going to be one who got in, for sure.
05:42I mean, he was, by metrics,
05:43the most accurate kicker in the history of ever.
05:45I don't know if he still is.
05:47But, yeah, you're right.
05:48You know what I mean?
05:49The line is very fine when you're a kicker.
05:52Because it's just easy for people to kind of dismiss and forget.
05:55Like, you're a kicker.
05:57You're not, you know what I mean?
05:58You're not an NFL player that creates memories for people.
06:02It's just like, dude, like, kick the ball straight.
06:05Nobody needs, nobody wants a distraction on special teams.
06:10Like, coaches are like, no.
06:13No.
06:14We've watched them, you know, the Kaepernick situation.
06:17Nobody wants a distraction, a quarterback.
06:19You don't get to be a distraction if you're a kicker.
06:23You know what I mean?
06:23Right.
06:24What'd the Niners do with Tabor Pepper this year?
06:28Exactly.
06:29Gone.
06:29And I think there's a lot of people who think that that was Deebo's fault.
06:33But Kyle Shanahan came out and was like, eh,
06:35Pep overreacted a little bit.
06:37And, gone.
06:40Both of them, quite frankly.
06:42But, yeah, like, they're not doing that.
06:44So, that's the end of that.
06:46But, anyway, I don't know, man.
06:48I find this whole thing really frustrating,
06:50and it's not because the Giants just lost another baseball game today.
06:55I just, like, I'm having the hardest time understanding how a group that's
06:59this veteran just kind of handled it this way.
07:03This is like, I mean, look at the Padres and Dodgers from a week ago.
07:07This thing finally came to the forefront because the managers came out
07:11and started belly bumping each other.
07:12But, meantime, for four games, they're hawking the ball at each other
07:17to the point where it got to Tatis and Shohei.
07:19This is the highest levels of the game.
07:22And I don't think that people in the public knew what was going on.
07:26Not until game four.
07:27Not until it happened and the managers started belly bumping each other.
07:31And then we had press conferences about it.
07:34And then Schilt was like, this is ridiculous.
07:38We're not doing this anymore.
07:40But that was all after the fact.
07:42Can you imagine if Schilt was like, all right,
07:45so we've had a few hit-by-pitches over the last three weeks.
07:50We're probably coming to Shohei at 7-10 tomorrow night.
07:53Stay tuned.
07:54Everybody be ready.
07:55Exactly.
07:56Can you imagine?
07:58It would have been thrown out before you even started the game.
08:00And we're doing this with the Marlins?
08:04Yeah.
08:05I still don't even know the name of the guy we threw at.
08:08What's his name?
08:11Exactly.
08:12It was Otto Lopez.
08:13Otto Lopez.
08:14That's right.
08:15Used to play for the Warriors, right?
08:17Yeah.
08:17Otto Lopez.
08:19I mean, what?
08:20Good God.
08:21Is he the guy who's a former Giant?
08:23The Marlins have a guy who was with the Giants but never.
08:26He was in spring training and he never made it to the big club.
08:31Really?
08:31I heard Phlegm talk about it in the opener of the series.
08:33I was like, ah, that's something I should remember.
08:36The Marlins have somebody who used to be with the Giants but never made it to the big club?
08:41He got cut right at the end of spring training.
08:45Was he a pitcher?
08:46I'm not sure.
08:47Maybe a hitter.
08:48He was a Marlin.
08:49I know that.
08:50One of those tidbits I caught earlier in the week and tried to remember it but didn't.
08:53Actually, it might be Otto Lopez.
08:55He played with the Sacramento Rivercats in 2024 for two games.
09:01There you go.
09:01Otto Lopez.
09:02There you go.
09:03So that's why they dotted him.
09:04It's all making good sense now.
09:05Yeah, they've had it with him.
09:07Taylor Swift has a song called Bad Blood.
09:09And I believe the blood was bad going back to those Scottsdale days.
09:13Coming up next, we're going to read names from the dictionary.
09:17Or I'll tell you what, we'll get a roster from, I don't know, the G League and the Marlins.
09:25And then we'll play Marlin or not.
09:27This could be fun.
09:29Marlin or 2025 NBA draft choice?
09:32I like that.
09:34Second rounder or Marlin?
09:37I mean, hell, we could do first rounder or Marlin.
09:42Eric Weggeman.
09:44I think he was a small forward at Tulane.
09:49Okay, I did that on purpose.
09:51God, Grandy.
09:53Eric Weggeman.
09:54Super annoying week.
09:57It's not over.
09:58No.
09:59And I guess today is the best day of the week.
10:01Hey, you gave up a 12 spot and you dotted a Marlin.
10:04It's a great day.
10:05I get to go home and make cheeseburgers for the kids and we don't have to watch the Giants
10:09and get mad at their at-bats with runners in scoring position.
10:13And the Warriors have two picks tonight.
10:15That's right.
10:15Two picks inside.
10:17Kids, stay up late.
10:19We got two people you've never heard of are about to be Warriors, not just one.
10:24Here we go, everybody.
