00:00Cal Raleigh is going to join the home run derby and goodness knows he should.
00:04He's been incredible in the home run department.
00:07Just incredible.
00:07Just carrying that offense of the Mariners.
00:10His dad actually is going to be set to pitch him.
00:12That's a pretty fun story.
00:13Gray, I made a case a couple of weeks ago that Cal Raleigh should be more in the conversation for MVP and everybody thought I was nuts.
00:20It doesn't look like Vegas thinks I'm as crazy as I was at least a couple of weeks ago.
00:23If he sets the record for home runs for a catcher,
00:26let's say he goes over Sal Perez's 48 from a couple of years ago.
00:30Do you think there's any chance that Cal Raleigh could unseat Aaron judge?
00:34I mean, let's be honest.
00:35Cal Raleigh is also catching, calling games.
00:38He's wearing the equipment.
00:40I'm not saying what Aaron judge isn't doing is spectacular.
00:42It is, but isn't what Cal Raleigh is doing pretty spectacular too.
00:48I'll also, I'll add in with Cal Raleigh,
00:50something I don't really hear that much about is his home stadium isn't anywhere close to a hitter's park.
00:57It's actually a pitcher's park.
00:58So what he's doing is just so incredible.
01:02Yeah, I would actually, I mean, you know,
01:04I might be a little bit biased because, you know,
01:08I'm so entrenched in this stuff that I feel like a catcher is worth,
01:13you know, is worth more than an outfielder.
01:16And I, you know, I feel like his homers are, you know,
01:21it's just like, I don't know.
01:23I feel like Cal Raleigh is actually the MVP right now.
01:26I, I know that's probably a little bit of a crazy take.
01:29I know Aaron judge is, you know, having a great season.
01:33I just don't know if Aaron judge really does it for me when you throw in the whole catcher position eligibility and everything.
01:40So I really love Cal Raleigh.
01:44Now, will he end up being this good for the rest of the season?
01:48I don't know.
01:49We haven't seen this before.
01:50I mean, he's about to pass his career high in homers and it's, you know, it's barely,
01:56it's going to be July, but barely, you know,
01:58so we have a basically a half a season left and he's usually a two 20 hitter.
02:04So I don't know.
02:05We haven't seen the slump yet from Cal Raleigh.
02:07Now, if we see him, if he goes into a prolonged slump,
02:10something that Aaron judge just doesn't do, then, you know, Aaron judge could still win this.
02:15I think it's still early enough where there's, there could be some movement there,
02:19but right now I'm going Cal Raleigh over Aaron judge.
02:24Great.
02:25Joe and I talked earlier in the show.
02:26We got about two minutes, by the way, that, you know, the Mets,
02:29their pitching staff, so a little bit of a shambles here,
02:31but Frankie Montas was terrible in his rehab, pitched real well against the Braves.
02:35If he pitches real well tomorrow, I know it's against Pittsburgh,
02:38but it's not going to matter if he has two good starts here.
02:41Do you see him being a popular ad on the wave of wire this week,
02:43assuming he pitches well against the Pirates tomorrow?
02:47Yeah, actually, I might be giving away some information here,
02:50but I put in bids already for Frankie Montas to get him tomorrow.
02:55So if, you know, if I can, I'm not really, I'm not bidding heavily.
02:59I think he's at best a, probably a number five in a 12, in a 12 team league,
03:06maybe a number six.
03:07Like he's, he's a definitely a backend starter.
03:10He pitched well in his first start as far as ERA goes, but he had a few walks.
03:15He gave up, you know, I think he's probably, he gave up some hard hits.
03:20I think he's likely a number six in a 12 team, maybe a number three to four in a 15 team or deeper.
03:30I don't mind them.
03:31I just would put my expectations in check and probably, you know,
03:35maybe a roughly a five to $7 bid in a thousand versus like, you know,
03:42what I was saying earlier with Chase Burns.
03:44So yeah, he's fine though.
