AccuWeather forecasters warn that there could be explosive development of severe storms in and around North Dakota on the night of June 27.
Transcript
00:00But as of right now, just severe storms across parts of Kentucky, Ohio, and Virginia.
00:04But as we zoom out, the main area that we're going to be watching out for as far as the overall threat
00:09and potential of severe weather is going to be across parts of the Northern Plains,
00:12especially the Dakotas and Nebraska.
00:15You can see a couple of severe thunderstorm warnings ongoing there across parts of South Dakota right now.
00:20But overall, as we head into this evening, take a look at this.
00:22This is an updated look at our AccuWeather exclusive storm zone.
00:25And this storm zone is going to extend from the High Plains of Colorado all the way through into southern parts of Canada as well.
00:31But overall, this is what we're mainly looking at, this bullseye here across North Dakota.
00:35That's where it looks like we'll see the highest potential of severe storms.
00:39Large hail, damaging winds, flooding rainfall, even an elevated tornado threat will be possible across this entire region.
00:45In fact, we have two separate severe thunderstorm watches in effect there across parts of South Dakota and Nebraska.
00:51But for that AccuWeather exclusive storm zone level two on our risk impact scale,
00:55this is where we have a tornado watch in effect here until 1 a.m. central time, midnight mountain time.
01:02So that's what we're going to be tracking there, especially across parts of North Dakota.
01:05Future track radar is going to be showing how the development will happen.
01:09But overall, we're still tracking some of those, yes, severe storms there across the I-90 corridor between Rapid City and Sioux Falls.
01:15But future track radar, once again, showing the continuing development and potential explosive development of these storms,
01:22especially across parts of Nebraska and South Dakota.
01:25But as after 8 o'clock, after sunset, we're mainly going to be watching this area, the storm zone to the north.
01:31That's where it looks like we'll see the most explosive development, the strongest storms,
01:35as we head into about 9, 10, 11 p.m. right around midnight.
01:38You can see those storms working the way along the I-94 corridor between Bismarck over towards Fargo.
01:44So we're going to be watching out for some very powerful storms developing here as we head into tonight.
01:48Even as we head into the overnight hours, these storms will continue along the I-94 corridor there into western parts of Minnesota.
01:55And you can see the storms will continue there even through Minneapolis for your early Saturday morning.
02:00So in Minneapolis, even if you have some early morning plans there on Saturday, expect rain,
02:05expect some storms to be moving in right around sunrise there for your early Saturday.
