00:00Today, Rupert makes a house for the White Rabbit in Rupert and the White Rabbit.

00:30There's a million stories to be told of the things that he's done, and he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.

00:43Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name. Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join.

00:57In all of his games.

01:05Oh look, it's stopped raining at last, Mummy, says Rupert happily. Can I?

01:11Rupert looks out through the door.

01:14Oh Raggedy, do look where you're going!

01:18For Raggedy has stepped right into the middle of a huge puddle outside the back door.

01:23Well, I can't get much wetter, and I brought the White Rabbit with me, because his burrow has been flooded out, Raggedy explains.

01:31My goodness, you poor things, you are wet, says Mrs. Bear sympathetically.

01:37Now just you sit in front of the fire, and you'll soon be dry, and I'll get you a nice warm drink.

01:43The fire and the hot drink soon revive the White Rabbit.

01:47Oh, that was delicious, Mrs. Bear, he says.

01:51You know, this is the first time I've ever been inside a house.

01:55It's much nicer than my burrow.

01:58Really?

02:00I know, I'll make you one.

02:02I'll make it on stilts, like this one, Rupert adds, showing him the picture.

02:08Then you won't ever get flooded again.

02:11That is a good idea, Rupert, says Mr. Bear.

02:20Oh look, there's Podgy and Bill and Edward.

02:23Hey, shouts Rupert, come and help me build a house for the White Rabbit.

02:28Crumpety-crumps, says Edward eagerly, hurrying up the garden path.

02:33That sounds fun.

02:37After a long time, and several sore thumbs later, the White Rabbit's house is finished.

02:43We must have a proper opening ceremony, Podgy decides, with a ribbon to cut,

02:48and a bottle of champagne to break on it like a ship.

02:51I know, I'll ask Margot for a hair ribbon.

02:54You can get the champagne, he calls as he hurries through the gate.

02:58And I'll meet you on the common.

03:00Dear me, laughs Mrs. Bear.

03:03I'm afraid I haven't any champagne.

03:06Will lemonade do?

03:08Rupert and Edward pull with a will.

03:11Come on, push!

03:13But I am, cries Bill.

03:15Pulling and pushing and on they race.

03:18Oh look, cries Rupert.

03:20That's the place.

03:21So the chariot gaily trundles on, right to the spot where the house will belong.

03:27Oh, there's Margot and Podgy.

03:30Come on, calls Rupert.

03:31We're all ready.

03:33By the time Margot has tied her hair ribbon round the house and given the White Rabbit a pair of scissors,

03:40and Podgy has hung the bottle of lemonade from a string on the roof, everyone is feeling very excited.

03:46You'll have to make a speech, Podgy tells the White Rabbit firmly.

03:51Oh.

03:52Um.

03:53Well.

03:54This day I proudly named this house, um...

03:59Say no?

04:01Suggests Podgy.

04:02No.

04:03Something simple, I think.

04:09He swings the bottle, which breaks in the most satisfactory manner, and he cuts the ribbon.

04:20Shouts Edward, and they all join in.

04:29Well, open the door, urges Rupert excitedly.

04:33But before the White Rabbit can move, Raggety is on the ramp, dancing excitedly up and down.

04:40Oh, what a lovely house!

04:45But, but...

04:46Oh, hey, come out Raggety, cries Rupert.

04:50Too late.

04:52Raggety is in, and doesn't intend to come out.

04:57Not for a while, anyway.

05:01Cries the poor White Rabbit.

05:04My lovely new house!

05:06Trumpety trumps!

05:08We'll have to make another one!

05:11Exclaims Edward.

05:12And I banged my trunk twice with the hammer.

05:16He sighs.

05:18Says Rupert firmly.

05:20We made it for White Rabbit, and White Rabbit shall have it.

05:23Oh, do come out!

05:25Begs Podgy, peering in at the window.

05:27I've got a lovely piece of wood here, too.

05:30Not hungry!

05:32Raggety yells.

05:34I'm not coming out!

05:36Not ever!

05:37So fair!

05:38The trouble is, when he does get hungry, he'll eat the house!

05:44Sighs Bill worriedly.

05:46Just then, Mr. Grimnasty hurries up.

05:50What's that monstrosity doing here?

05:53He asks.

05:54Rupert's most indignant.

05:56That's the White Rabbit's new house!

05:59Oh, my goodness!

06:00Whatever is the common coming to?

06:02Why can't he live in a burrow the way rabbits should?

06:05And what are you doing in there, Raggety?

06:09Come out at once.

06:11Mr. Grimnasty is really cross now.

06:14You woke me up with all that cheering, he thunders.

06:18And who has been breaking glass?

06:20Well, we, um, we named the house like a ship, stutters Rupert.

06:26I...

06:27I'm just going to get a dustpan and brush, says Margot quickly.

06:30And she runs off, glad of the excuse to get away.

06:33I should think so too, says Mr. Grimnasty, storming off.

06:38Come on, Raggety!

06:39All right!

06:41I'm coming, squeaks Raggety, scurrying down the ramp.

06:47Phew!

06:48gasps Bill.

06:49The White Rabbit is most indignant.

06:52Hootsy, think he is.

06:55And you'll just have to get used to my house.

06:57Because this is my house, and that's where I'm going to stay.

07:03Well, we'll leave you to settle in, says Rupert.

07:06Yes, it must be long past lunchtime, says Podgy anxiously.

07:11I'm hungry too, Edward agrees.

07:15And me, adds Bill.

07:27Rupert, Podgy, Bill and Edward all decide to visit the White Rabbit that afternoon to see how he's getting on.

07:34There's Margot coming too, says Rupert.

07:38He asks curiously.

07:40I've made some curtains for the White Rabbit's house.

07:43Margot proudly holds them up.

07:45Shhh!

07:47Whispers Rupert.

07:48We mustn't forget to knock.

07:51Funny.

07:52There's no answer.

07:54No, he's not in, says Podgy, peering through the window.

08:00Perhaps he's gone to find something to eat.

08:03Or collecting his belongings from the burrow, suggests Bill.

08:07Hey!

08:08White Rabbit!

08:11He shouts down one of the White Rabbit's many entrances.

08:15Hello!

08:16Says the White Rabbit, popping up out of yet another one.

08:20Why aren't you in your house?

08:23Well, it was very kind of you, Rupert and Podgy and Bill and Edward.

08:29But you see, my burrow's dry now and...

08:32Well, living in a house isn't for rabbits.

08:36We live in burrows.

08:38There's no draught, you see.

08:40But come in and have tea, he adds, looking round at the disappointed faces.

08:45It's really very cosy.

08:47You can get in over there.

08:49The rain has washed so much out of the way.

08:51The hole's enormous now, he adds.

08:57Oh, yes, exclaims Margot.

09:00It's very nice in here.

09:02And so clean and tidy.

09:05But what shall I do with these?

09:07She adds, holding up the two small curtains.

09:10Hmm, I know.

09:12I'll have a pretend window, the White Rabbit decides.

09:15They'll go on that hall nicely.

09:17Thank you, Margot.

09:19As Rupert and his friends emerge from the burrow...

09:22Cries the crow, flying down to inspect the house.

09:28He cries excitedly, which means I like this very much.

09:35And in a few seconds, he's back with a beak full of straw.

09:40Wizardy whiz, he's going to live there, says Rupert happily.

09:45Oh, I am glad, sighs Edward.

09:48And everybody agrees.

09:50I'll make him some curtains too, Margot decides,

09:54as the crow returns with yet another beak full of straw.

09:57Let's go and tell Daddy, suggests Rupert.

10:00Mr. Bear is delighted.

10:03Well, I'm glad our hard work wasn't wasted, he chuckles.

10:08I wonder what it would be like in a burrow, says Mrs. Bear thoughtfully.

10:13It must be rather cosy.

10:16It is, agrees Rupert.

10:19Rupert, Rupert, the bell.
