00:00Today, Rupert travels through time in Rupert and Tiger Lily.

00:15There's a little bear that you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.

00:23Children everywhere, go to love him more and more, he's the number one.

00:30There's a million stories to be told of the things that he's done.

00:36And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.

00:44Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.

01:07Come on, Rupert, aren't you ready yet?

01:10Cries Podgy, hurrying up the garden path.

01:12What for? Asks Rupert, surprised.

01:16Don't you remember? We're going to Tiger Lily's for tea.

01:24Edward and Bill have come to tea with Tiger Lily, too.

01:27And it is a very good tea.

01:29Oh, that was scrumptious, says Edward.

01:34I can't eat another thing, sighs Podgy.

01:39Oh, dear. Is that the time?

01:42We'll have to go soon, says Rupert reluctantly.

01:45But first, wait. I have something special to show you, Tiger Lily announces.

01:53This is my father's magic wand.

01:56And I have been practicing conjuring tricks.

01:59Watch. Abra.

02:01Cardabra.

02:03And Podgy's handkerchief changes into a bunch of flowers.

02:07Podgy isn't very pleased.

02:08That's my best hanky, he protests.

02:13All right, I change it, giggles Tiger Lily, waving her wand.

02:18And this time, the hanky completely disappears.

02:22Poor Podgy is horror-struck.

02:26It's all right, chuckles Edward.

02:28It's round my trunk.

02:31But alas, all too soon, it's time to go.

02:35That was smashing, says Rupert.

02:46Tiger Lily is so busy saying farewell to her friends

02:49that she forgets all about the wand

02:51and goes back into the house, leaving it lying on the grass.

02:56She leaves the gate open, too.

02:59Raggedy is out on the common nearby.

03:02Oh, I'm hungry. I'm hungry, he says.

03:04I love a nice, juicy bit of wood.

03:07Something really special.

03:09And there it is, he cries happily, and pounces on the wand.

03:14Whee! Whee!

03:21It tastes horrible, cries the little creature in disgust,

03:26and he hurls it away.

03:28The wand lands, splash, right in the middle of a puddle.

03:32Tiger Lily, where's my wand?

03:35I shall need it tonight.

03:37I've got a show in town, says her father.

03:40Oh, exclaims the little girl.

03:42I remember.

03:44I left it in the garden.

03:45I'll get it.

03:47But it isn't there.

03:50That's strange.

03:51I'm sure I left it here.

03:54Oh, dear, oh, dear.

03:55Daddy will be cross.

03:57What shall I do?

03:59I know.

04:00I'll ask Rupert to help me look, she decides, hurrying through the gate.

04:05Rupert! Rupert, come back, shouts Tiger Lily, waving frantically.

04:10Why, what's the matter?

04:12Asks Rupert, hurrying back.

04:14You remember my daddy's wand?

04:16Well, I've lost it, and he needs it tonight.

04:20Please help me look, she begs.

04:29Look at those flowers growing round that puddle.

05:03And he holds it up triumphantly.

05:06It's only a bit wet, that's all.

05:09Oh, Tiger Lily's worried.

05:12Wands no good in water.

05:14I try it.

05:16Abra, kadabra.

05:18And she points it at a bush.

05:20What happened?

05:22Oh, the bush should have flowers.

05:25But nothing happened, sighs Tiger Lily.

05:29Oh, dear.

05:30The magic has all been washed away.

05:32And daddy's conjuring show will be so dull with no magic.

05:36And daddy will be so cross, she sobs.

05:40Oh, please don't cry, says Rupert sympathetically.

05:44Perhaps Willie will know what to do.

05:46Cheer up, I'll call him.

05:49Willie.

05:50Hello, everyone.

05:52Why, Tiger Lily, what's the matter?

05:54Asks Willie, appearing suddenly.

05:56My father's wand doesn't work anymore.

06:00All the magic has been washed out, sobs the poor little girl.

06:03And he's got a performance tonight.

06:06Hmm, that's not so easy, says Willie thoughtfully.

06:11The only person I know who can help is Merlin.

06:14And that will mean going back in time.

06:16Whizzerly whiz, gasps Rupert excitedly.

06:20Can I come?

06:22All right, says Willie.

06:24Now put your hands over your eyes, Rupert, because this is going to be rough.

06:31And it is.

06:33Rupert hurtles round and round like a spinning top in the middle of nothing.

06:38Twisting and twirling, whisking and whirling, back through time he goes.

06:43Swerving and swirling, curving and curling, to an earlier century.

06:54Rupert removes his hands, but he's so giddy, everything still seems to be going round.

06:59And the poor little bear sits down with a bump.

07:02Are you all right?

07:03Asks Willie.

07:05Oh, yes.

07:07Rupert gets to his feet and looks around with interest.

07:10For they're in a large cave, full of the most extraordinary apparatus.

07:16And at a table sits an old wizard, reading an enormous book.

07:21Hello, Willie Wisp.

07:23I didn't see you arrive.

07:26Good evening, Merlin.

07:27How's everything at court these days?

07:29Asks Willie.

07:31King Arthur still busy?

07:33Oh, my goodness, yes.

07:35Sighs Merlin.

07:36He keeps me at it.

07:38Morning, noon and night.

07:40This is Rupert, Willie explains.

07:43And he has a problem.

07:45Look.

07:47Please, could you re-magic this wand?

07:49Rupert asks, holding it out hopefully.

07:52Oh, goodness me, exclaims Merlin.

07:55It's soaking wet.

07:56You shouldn't wash wands, Rupert.

07:58But, but I...

08:00That's the trouble with you people in the 20th century.

08:03You will wash everything.

08:04Grumbles Merlin, grumbles Merlin as he wipes the wand dry.

08:08Fiddle-ly-dee.

08:09Now listen to me.

08:10And make yourself magic as quick as can be.

08:14Cries Merlin, giving the wand a good shake.

08:16He drops the wand.

08:17And for a second it lies still.

08:21And then suddenly it starts to quiver and shake all by itself on the floor.

08:26There, says Merlin triumphantly.

08:29I think you'll find that it will work all right.

08:33If not better, chuckles Willie.

08:35Thanks, Merlin.

08:36Be seeing you.

08:37But we must be off.

08:38Well, goodbye, Willie.

08:41Although I can't think why you want to live in the 20th century.

08:45It's so noisy.

08:48Goodbye, Rupert.

08:49Good luck with the wand.

08:55Rupert is already whirling round and round again.

09:00Twisting and twirling.

09:02Whisking and whirling.

09:03Forward through time goes he.

09:05Swerving and swirling.

09:07Curving and curling.

09:09Into the 20th century.

09:14And when he finally opens his eyes again.

09:17He finds himself once more back on the common.

09:20And Willie has gone.

09:22Oh, Rupert, you work quick.

09:25Exclaims Tiger Lily.

09:26Come on, says Rupert.

09:28We can take the wand back to your father now.

09:36Tiger Lily's father's show is a great surprise.

09:39He makes Rupert disappear from his seat.

09:41Much to Mrs. Bear's alarm.

09:44Oh, where's Rupert gone?

09:46She cries.

09:47Here he is.

09:48Exclaims the conjurer.

09:49As Rupert reappears beside him.

09:51Everyone enjoys themselves.

10:00And it's a very sleepy Rupert who stumbles back into his cottage that night.

10:04He's the best conjurer I've ever seen, declares Mr. Bear.

10:10Yes, it's the magic wand that does it, says Rupert.

10:13Glad that he's been able to help Tiger Lily.

10:15It makes everything special.
