00:00Today, Rupert goes looking for Goosegog and finds a rope in Rupert and the Rope Trick.

00:16There's a little bear that you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.

00:23Children everywhere, know to love him more and more, he's the number one.

00:30There's a million stories to be told of the things that he's done.

00:37And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.

00:43Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.

00:50Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join.

00:57In all of his name.

01:05Rupert is trying to draw, but...

01:08Oh no, the point of my crayon has broken again, he wails in dismay.

01:14Look, Mummy, how short it is now.

01:17I won't have any blue left for the sky at all soon.

01:20I don't know what's gone wrong today, Mrs. Bear sighs, staring at the potatoes in utter bewilderment.

01:27I know I peeled those potatoes just now.

01:34Now the wet crayon's broken, cries Rupert crossly.

01:38Something's wrong.

01:40It can't be the crayons.

01:43I don't understand it, I really don't.

01:50Why, that's Goosegog's giggle.

01:53I thought as much, shouts Rupert, leaping up.

01:57Just wait till I catch him.

01:58Rupert flies slowly over the common, examining every bush below.

02:05Rupert!

02:06Hey, Rupert!

02:08Shouts Bill.

02:10Edward's stuck in that tree.

02:13I know it sounds crazy, but the branch just seemed to bend down and grab my coat, gasps Edward,

02:21swaying dangerously to and fro, several feet above the ground.

02:25Keep still, and I'll unhock you, says Rupert, holding the chariot steady under Edward's feet.

02:33Oh, thank you, Rupert, puffs the poor little elephant.

02:38Oh, that was a nasty shock.

02:41That's one of Goosegog's tricks, I'm sure, says Rupert.

02:45We'll help you look for him, says Bill.

02:48Poor Raggety is in trouble, too.

02:51Oh, help, help me, somebody, it's all gone dark, he cries, pulling frantically at an old bucket stuck over his head.

02:59Oh, Raggety, eagles Rupert.

03:01I'll get it off.

03:03He pulls.

03:04Oh, ow!

03:06I'm sorry, Raggety, but it, it won't come off, pants Rupert, pulling as hard as he can.

03:14Ow, ow!

03:16Oh, look, there's Mr. Grimnasty.

03:18Maybe he can manage it.

03:19Hey, Mr. Grimnasty.

03:22But much to the little bear's surprise, Mr. Grimnasty turns and hurries away, for he too has his problems.

03:31Rupert shouts even louder.

03:33Mr. Grimnasty, please, please, can you help Raggety?

03:37He's got a bucket stuck over his head.

03:40Ow!

03:40Oh, ow!

03:42Cries the little creature, bumping into a tree.

03:45Mr. Grimnasty reluctantly turns round.

03:49Oh, right, I'm coming.

03:50Wizardy whiz!

03:53Yes, exclaims Rupert.

03:55Your beard's gone as red as my jumper.

03:58I know, sighs Mr. Grimnasty, as he carefully extricates Raggety's head from the bucket.

04:05You do look funny, giggles Raggety tactlessly.

04:09Mr. Grimnasty is furious.

04:11I, I, I...

04:13It's Goosegog's fault, says Rupert.

04:16Well, just wait till I catch that young varmint.

04:19And Rupert, please, can you give me a lift home?

04:22He continues.

04:22I don't want people seeing me like this.

04:25It looks ridiculous at my age.

04:27Why, of course, Mr. Grimnasty, hop in.

04:30And Rupert zooms off.

04:37Quick, walk in front of me, says Mr. Grimnasty, as Rupert lands outside his home.

04:41And nobody will see.

04:44Unfortunately, neither of them notice Goosegog.

04:47He chuckles as Rupert and Mr. Grimnasty disappear inside the tree.

04:55And he runs towards the chariot.

04:59He giggles, fiddling with the controls.

05:02That'll give Rupert a surprise.

05:04And he runs off, just as Rupert reappears.

05:12Bye, Mr. Grimnasty, shouts Rupert, hurrying towards his chariot.

05:16He climbs in, takes off.

05:19But, oh, oh, eh, what's happening?

05:24For the chariot flies upside down and then round and round in circles.

05:29Rupert wrestles desperately with the controls as it dives

05:32and just manages to pull it out before he hits the ground.

05:36The chariot shoots up into the air again and makes straight for Rupert's cottage.

05:41Oh, I'm going to crash, moans the poor little bear,

05:44covering his eyes with his hands.

05:48Rupert cautiously removes his hands from his face and looks round.

05:54Phew!

05:55At least I didn't crash into the roof.

05:58But where am I?

06:00Rupert, don't move.

06:04Whatever you do, don't move, shouts Mr. Bear anxiously from the garden.

06:09Your chariot is balanced on the chimney, he continues.

06:14And every time you move it rocks the chariot.

06:17So keep very still.

06:19What?

06:20Oh, oh!

06:21Don't move a muscle!

06:24And Mr. Bear hurries off to fetch his ladder.

06:27But, oh dear, it's too short, he cries.

06:32I'll have to fetch the fire brigade.

06:34Now don't you move, Rupert.

06:36No, no, I won't.

06:39Poor Rupert peers cautiously over the side.

06:42The ground seems an awfully long way away.

06:44Mr. Bear, Mr. Bear, we've come to help, cries Tiger Lily, running up.

06:51I'm afraid that...

06:53No, wait.

06:54This is Mr. Mohammed, the Indian fakir.

06:57How do you do, says the Indian, bowing politely.

07:01But, but...

07:02Oh, please listen, Mr. Bear.

07:04Mr. Mohammed can get Rupert down.

07:07Please, just to relax and to watch, says the Indian calmly.

07:11And he waves his arms over a coil of rope, chanting,

07:14Rope, rope, climb up into the air, to the rescue of Rupert Bear.

07:19The end of the rope suddenly seems to come alive and lifts itself up.

07:23Make yourself grow tall and long.

07:26Make yourself grow straight and strong.

07:28As he speaks, the rope climbs up and up and up until it's level with Rupert.

07:36Now, would you please swing yourself carefully onto the rope, Rupert, says Mr. Mohammed.

07:41Carefully now, adds Mr. Bear anxiously.

07:45That's right.

07:46Now slide gently down, but not too fast or you'll hurt your hands.

07:50Rupert clutches the rope and slides easily down, landing at the fakir's feet.

07:57Phew!

07:58Thank you, Mr. Mohammed, says the little bear gratefully.

08:01And he and Mr. Bear watch in amazement as the Indian claps his hands and the rope recoils itself at his feet.

08:11Oh, Rupert, Rupert, are you all right?

08:14It's Guzgog.

08:14The poor little creature is most upset.

08:18I only meant to play a trick on you, but...

08:20There are tricks and tricks, says Mr. Bear sternly.

08:24And that was a very silly and dangerous one.

08:27I know, and I'm truly sorry, wails the little creature miserably.

08:31But I didn't mean any harm, honest.

08:36The chariot sways and slides down the roof into the flower bed.

08:42Look at my chariot, cries Rupert indignantly.

08:45And my flowers, sighs Mr. Bear.

08:50I'll mend it.

08:51I'll mend it right away.

08:52Really, I will, Guzgog promises.

08:55And your flowers too, Mr. Bear.

08:57And I won't play any more tricks, never again.

09:00Well, for a long time anyway.

09:02Thank you, Mr. Mohammed, says Mrs. Bear.

09:05And I should be so pleased if you would both stay to lunch, she continues.

09:10Oh, that is most kind, says Mr. Mohammed politely.

09:13And now I shall cheer you all up.

09:16Watch.

09:18He claps his hands, and the rope immediately obeys.

09:22It uncoils and holds out a bunch of beautiful roses.

09:26For you, Mrs. Bear.

09:28Oh, how lovely.

09:32And now for my grand finale, announces the Indian,

09:35as the rope straightens itself out and up into the air.

09:38Mr. Mohammed catches hold of it and pulls himself up and up.

09:43Right to the top.

09:46He disappears.

09:49Wizardy whiz, that was smashing.

09:52Well, I never, says Mr. Bear, hardly daring to believe his eyes.

09:57But Mrs. Bear is most upset.

10:00Oh, what a pity he's disappeared, and just as lunch is ready too.

10:05Do come in.

10:06As I couldn't get the potatoes peeled, I decided to make curry and rice instead.

10:13Mr. Mohammed would have liked that.

10:16Oh, curry and rice.

10:18How very nice.
