Who would not love to munch on some crunchy, crispy snacks while there's a downpour outside? Monsoon is the time when there's no end to your cravings for warm and spicy flavors. Food blogger Tarika Singh is up with a recipe which is just perfect for this season. It's called onion rings to which Tarika has added her own twist that makes this dish even more delectable.
Ingredients:
1 & 1/2 cups panko bread crumbs 2 onions – 250gms 2 tbsp corn flour/corn starch 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 cup buttermilk salt & pepper to taste paprika/chilli flakes (adjust to taste)
Method:
To make the batter: - In a bowl, add the cornflour and the all purpose flour and give it a nice mix. - Add half of the buttermilk to the flour mixture and whisk it vigorously. - Add the rest of the buttermilk and whisk it until there are no lumps left.
For coating: - Season the Panko bread crumbs with salt, pepper and paprika and mix them well.
To make the onion rings: - Cut the onions in a ring shape. (about 1/2 inch rounds) - Pre-heat the oven to 220 degrees celcius. - Line the baking tray with a parchment paper. - Dip the onion rings in the batter and then coat them with the bread crumbs, using a separate hand. - Repeat this procedure for the rest of the onion rings and place them on the parchment paper. - Put the baking tray in the oven for about 15 minutes for the crispy onion rings to bake. - Halfway through the baking time, rotate the tray and flip the onion rings so that they cook evenly on both the sides. - The crispy baked onion rings are ready to be served.
