00:00Rocky Mountain, let's go racing, live from Southwick.
00:06And Jett Lawrence and Plessinger battling for it.
00:11Lawrence on the 18th has the whole shot with his brother right behind him.
00:14Yeah, big old pileup in that first corner, almost called Jorge Prada.
00:17He was up there, barely missed it, but that's my keys to the motor.
00:21These guys did not hear me, it's Jett Lawrence out front, like you said, followed by his brother.
00:25It's going to be tough for these guys.
00:26But Plessinger right there, knocking on the door as well as Cooper Webb.
00:29And Prado in green, watch him on the outside.
00:32Yeah, Jorge Prada was almost two and a half seconds faster than all these guys in that second practice.
00:37So we'll see how he goes, but good to see the Cowboy.
00:40They know they need to make some passes to get up there with that 18.
00:43Once he gets comfortable, it's going to be difficult to get around him.
00:46And Eli Tomac is back in 11th, the multi-time champion, who's so good at this track.
00:51He has work to do.
00:53Prado, see him there on the left side, trying to get the number two of Webb.
00:57Yeah, Jorge wanted to get to that line where Cooper Webb was, but sometimes it funnels into one line.
01:02But it's good to see the number seven, Monster Energy Kawasaki, being super aggressive.
01:06He should maybe have the power on the inside of Cooper Webb if he can get to the inside of him.
01:11Plessinger working on Hunter Lawrence for a second.
01:13Not able to make it happen.
01:18No, Aaron's going to try to slingshot around this outside.
01:21He's going to funnel back into one line.
01:23But here at Southwick, you've got to be careful of being so close to the guy.
01:27You're going to run out of vision, and it's hard to do that when you see the number 18 out front.
01:31You want to get going.
01:31But as quickly as we say that, we can see the gap already growing with Jett Lawrence.
01:36And the reason Prado there in that green machine is such a story, this is the multi-time MXGP champion from Europe,
01:42who is expected to contend for race wins and podiums this year.
01:45And it has not gone that way at all this morning in qualifying, the first real show of speed in America for him.
01:52But those fast qualifying times could today be a turnaround.
01:55He needs to get Webb, and he's trying again.
01:57Yeah, he's trying to get it.
01:58And one thing that we haven't seen all year, really, is Jett Lawrence.
02:01Once he's out front, he's been out front a lot.
02:03But him being able to pull away from these guys, he must have been working on that.
02:06So you can see the sense of urgency in all the rest of these guys trying to get around.
02:11Jorge's maybe getting a little frustrated, but good to see him.
02:13And you can see that number three behind him, a couple of positions behind him.
02:16Will?
02:18James, you said it.
02:18Good to see Jorge running out front there with that front pack.
02:21And the team, no doubt, will feel exactly the same way,
02:24because they have been working very hard.
02:27We had the off weekend after High Point last weekend,
02:30and they have been at it just testing.
02:32They've been on the sand, trying to find good sand settings for Jorge.
02:36And I asked Oscar Villeman there, the crew chief for him, what's made the difference?
02:41He said, well, one, a little bit of gaps made up with this being sand.
02:44No, it's not European-style sand track, but it is more familiar.
02:48Everything this year for him is new.
02:50So a bit of familiarity will take it.
02:53And he said, on top of that, it's just adjustment to the bike.
02:56There's a lot of things he said that the Kawasaki is just different.
02:59They've worked to sort of bring that familiarity back to him.
03:02And Jorge, they said, it's just kind of like he's got this attitude of just adjusting to the bike, too.
03:07So those things coming together, we're just seeing a stronger start to the day, too, according to James.
03:11Yeah, no, I agree, and I had a chance.
03:13He was my, Oscar was my mechanic, so they got a lot of experience over there at Kawasaki.
03:17So Jorge needs to just continue fighting the game, and he'll continue to get better.
03:21It's hard being the champion that he is.
03:23He wants to win, and, you know, when you've got the number three, Eli Tomac coming behind you,
03:27makes things really difficult.
03:28But Eli made a lot of passes early, Jason.
03:31And we said he was outside the top ten, for him to be up, making moves.
03:34That's a good sign to see number three.
03:36Yeah, James, 11 to 6th now.
03:38He's gotten around Cornelius Pondola at 417, a visitor from Norway.
03:43Just a guest appearance today.
03:45Tomac has gotten around him, and Tomac, you see him in that yellow gear,
03:48looking to make the move on Prado.
03:50Yeah, you can tell his sense of urgency with Eli Tomac,
03:53and I believe if he's going to be able to make a pass, now it starts opening up.
03:57If he can get alongside of Jorge right here, he might have an opportunity,
04:00because a lot of parts on this racetrack, you have to funnel back in.
04:03It's going to be difficult to pass the Munster to Kawasaki number seven
04:07as he tries to go back.
04:08Eli's teammate, Cooper Webb.
04:09Yeah, he's trying to get around Webb.
04:11He's used his outside line a few times, side by side, not enough.
04:14A battle for fourth.
04:17Yeah, you've got to see these guys funnel back in towards the same line.
04:19Eli's going to switch around, and I love here at Southwick.
04:22When you see the opportunity, you've got to really strike on it
04:25because, again, vision, it becomes a problem here.
04:30Prado's still working on the two of Webb with Tomac in hot pursuit, JT.
04:36Yeah, Tomac's trying to make a move here, Jason,
04:39and it's so important that he doesn't get stuck into their pace.
04:42He's fallen into that trap a couple of times this season.
04:45The same thing Prado's dealing with.
04:47He needs to get really urgent and really aggressive
04:49because I'll tell you what I think.
04:51I think he's looking around for where is Jet Lawrence,
04:53and you wonder why is Jet Lawrence being so aggressive early?
04:56He's worried about Eli Tomac as well.
04:58Those two know that if they were out front together
05:00that they might be able to get away.
05:02So Eli Tomac, if he wants any chance at getting to the front of this race,
05:06he's got to make a quick pass.
05:07And you see the urgency, JT, with Prado.
05:10Motorcycle was completely sideways.
05:12He was trying to get Webb.
05:14He holds him off.
05:15And now Tomac is through as well.
05:16Yeah, that's what you have to do, Eli.
05:18When Jorge strikes, you know,
05:20I don't think Cooper realized that Eli was that close,
05:22so he made that pass.
05:23But the problem for him, I mean,
05:24Jet Lawrence is seven seconds up front right now ahead of his brother.
05:29So Eli would look around and see he ain't looking for the 18
05:32because the 18 is gone.
05:33He's got a lot of work.
05:34And James, you made this point earlier.
05:36This is not normally the way Jet Lawrence does it.
05:38Yes, he wins nearly every time he's out there,
05:41but doesn't normally build the big early gap.
05:43No, Jet's very patient,
05:45and he just kind of allows the racetrack to suit in
05:48and settle in for him to go.
05:49But I think what JT said was an excellent point.
05:52He wants to get away from that number three.
05:54There's no sense of battling with him
05:55because we know how strong Eli is.
05:57So a lot of these races,
05:58I felt like Jet could have put the race away
06:00if he would have been like this.
06:01So I believe he worked on that during this off weekend,
06:05and it's showing for sure.
06:06And it's 1-2 for the Brothers Lawrence.
06:09Also teammates on the Honda HRC Progressive Team.
06:13Out of Australia.
06:15Little adjustment to the motorcycle
06:17at the beginning of this championship,
06:18but now into round five,
06:19they have certainly solved any of those problems.
06:22But listen to the crowd cheering the Cowboy on.
06:24They love Plessinger.
06:25Yeah, they love the Cowboy,
06:27but I think what they love is that number three coming up.
06:29And you can see Jorge starting to close back in on air.
06:32And you can hear that Yamaha of Eli Tomek wide open going.
06:37And he knows what time it is.
06:43This is another battle that everyone wanted to see.
06:45Where would Prado slot in on a good day?
06:47They have not been the type of results expected the first few races.
06:50He's up front now.
06:51Let's see how it shakes down between he and Tomek.
06:54Oh, Jorge almost went off the track right there.
06:58You can see the front end dancing around.
07:00And this track, even though it's a sand racetrack,
07:01it has a really hard base.
07:03So you're going to see a lot of movement from the bike with these guys.
07:05And the key is to have the movement,
07:07but not to slam into these corners
07:09and get so deep into it and lose all your momentum.
07:11So, so far, it's going pretty good.
07:14You're going to see a lot of back and forth.
07:16Guys starting to get away.
07:17And it looks like they're playing that cat and mouse game.
07:19But a lot of that happens
07:20because the guy wants to stay out of his ruse.
07:22So, you know, there's only a certain part of this racetrack
07:24where you have to strike.
07:25So right now, Eli is probably setting up that move.
07:29So you think Tomek actually will strategically drop back enough
07:31to not catch the sand off the back of the bike?
07:34Yeah, 100%.
07:35Like there are certain parts where he won't be able to pass him.
07:37So you don't want to eat that ruse.
07:39It not only messes your vision up,
07:40it messes your breathing up as well.
07:42So you'll probably see Eli close back in
07:44up on the end of this lap.
07:46But JT.
07:46Just watching Jorge Prado there, James.
07:50You know, so much of this season
07:52just looks like he's lost some confidence.
07:54This is a guy who's really never lost much in his entire career.
07:58Like he went on a four-year run
08:00of winning championships in Europe.
08:01He comes to America, really hasn't seen the same success.
08:04And part of that has to be believing in himself.
08:08And you see he's pulling back out of gap on Eli Tomek.
08:11The longer he can stay up here,
08:12the longer he can see the lead,
08:14the more that confidence is going to come back
08:16and it's going to unlock all of the great things that he's capable of.
08:19Yeah, I completely agree.
08:21And I think with Jorge, as you just said, it's the confidence.
08:23So he might be in fourth place right now.
08:25And you would think, like, he wants to win.
08:27But this is a huge step compared to what we've seen the last few weekends.
08:31And just what you saw with Jorge right there,
08:33lifting the front end, jumping around,
08:34that's the guy that we kind of expected to see.
08:37And we haven't seen that these first four motos, but four motos, four races.
08:42And they've left Webb behind.
08:43There goes Tondal.
08:44Again, the rider out of Norway.
08:46It's Jason Anderson out of New Mexico.
08:48That's the teammate of Prado on the Kawasaki.
08:50Great Koulos coming by.
08:53And Justin Barsho welcome back to racing.
08:55First motocross race of the year for him.
08:57He's in 10th, coming off a knee injury.
09:00Jen Lawrence doing what he has done quite incredibly.
09:03He has only lost one race on a 450 motocross
09:08and starting it out well again today.
09:10Enjoy the sounds of motocross as we go to break.
09:13If you're watching on Peacock.
09:15All that happens, much like the ghost.
09:31Only a couple seconds back off at the next.
09:50So he's making some adjustments.
09:51He's making some adjustments.
09:52All that happens, much like the ghost.
10:22All that happens, much like the ghost.
10:52is better than that.
10:54So he's making some adjustments.
10:55Let's take a look.
10:56There's something we need.
10:58Love it.
10:58You go to the времени.
11:00Yeah, and what you did, it says.
11:01Let's go to the flag.
11:02So what happened?
11:02Come on is coming on the side.
11:03You go to the flag.
11:04You have to look all the flags.
11:05Come on.
11:06All these flags,усǎ言 it Glazzi nets lining.
11:08¡Sugú pues!
11:09You slide!
11:15Yes!
11:15Obrigado.
11:45Obrigado.
12:15Obrigado, Paulo, Paulo, pueblo.
12:21Battle for the podium heating up live motocross from Massachusetts.
12:26Aaron Fessoeskhor in the orange Red Bull KTB has third place on the number seven,
12:31but Jorge Prado, the Spaniard,
12:33really starting to show his form now in the United States.
12:37By far his best race of the year, and he is closing it.
12:41Oil lust really good to me, you know,
12:58de kind of let this race settle in and at least get on the podium and maybe get Hunter
13:01Lawrence and just worry about Jett Lawrence's second race.
13:03But nonetheless, good to see number 70 out here.
13:06It's going to be a three-rate battle for this podium spot.
13:09Time for the Oakley Rider check-in because a couple of them are battling right now.
13:13These are the riders running the Oakley Goggles, Plessinger third, Tomac fifth, working Prado.
13:19Marsha, we mentioned his tenth, Justin Cooper, fast qualifiers back at 11.
13:23RJ Hampshire is 13th and Tomac nearly had a wheel on Prado but could not make the pass.
13:29Yeah, Eli wanted to get in but as I mentioned that some of these parts are really off camber
13:33and so he's just sliding into Eli, I mean sliding into Jorge right there
13:37so he had to make the decision just to settle back and this is what I mean, that ruse as you can see,
13:41Eli just got a face full of ruse, had to pull a tear off, now he'll drop back
13:45and to hopefully get another opportunity to be able to get around Jorge.
13:49Now, James, you can pull the tear off and get clear vision with a new lens on the goggle
13:52but is there a point sometimes where you're just going to have to accept a few seconds of just blindness?
13:57Yeah, absolutely, especially if you get in a spot where you get roosted where you're not expecting it
14:02and then you see that, hey, I can make this pass so I'm going to have to just stay with there
14:05so you should go blind, man, for sure, out there.
14:08And keep it wide open?
14:09Yeah, just to do it, just hope and float.
14:12Tomac and Prado might be in that position right now.
14:15They're catching a lot of sand off the rear tire of Plessinger.
14:18A great three-rider fight for third.
14:21The Lawrences have checked out.
14:23Jett to the lead, Hunter in second.
14:25Yeah, one of the difficult parts for being in there, not only just the vision, as I mentioned,
14:30but even the sand going in your mouth, this is a sand racetrack,
14:34so these guys are breathing out of your mouth, trying to breathe out of your nose.
14:37So once you get clogged with sand, it's not just your vision goes,
14:40then it starts affecting your breathing and then it affects how your whole body functions.
14:44So this guy's got a lot of elements to deal with here today at Southwick.
14:48Have you reached the limit of how much sand you can intake into the mouth a time or two in your life?
14:52I mean, I can eat a lot of sand on there, but, you know, eventually it will take a toll on you.
14:57You can see Eli start to, everyone's limits are a little different.
15:01Well, Tomac's one of the toughest out there, but you see right there,
15:04had to go for the clear vision and give up the attack on Prado.
15:09Yeah, and I know that's frustrating for Eli because I feel like one of the opportunities to pass was right up here.
15:14So this is where a lap ago he got really close to Jorge, but couldn't make that pass and see what he does.
15:21He'll settle back down and try to go after him again.
15:24Halfway through this first race of the day.
15:27Reminder, Monster Energy available.
15:29Now go grab some, but keep watching this action because Tomac definitely has some spots on the track
15:35as he resets and goes back after Prado.
15:39Hammering through that corner.
15:41Yeah, that's what Eli's really known for, really charging into a lot of these sections.
15:45And the hard part is he can charge into it and get into a one-liner racetrack,
15:49and then he's got to follow him and just eat that sand.
15:52So he's got to pick his spots, JT.
15:54He does.
15:55And, James, you were talking about this before the race where it's so important for Eli Tomac to get out front.
16:00And that doesn't mean he has to get the whole shot, but if he can just be with Jet on the first lap,
16:04that would help him avoid all of these things because you look back over this championship
16:09at Colorado, at High Point, he gets stuck behind guys.
16:12He falls into their pace, and he cannot find a way around him.
16:15And the guys he really wants to be battling with are riding off into the distance and taking points with him.
16:21And the team manager of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing couldn't agree with you more, JT.
16:26Rich Simmons was talking about exactly that subject with me earlier.
16:29They said, you know, they really want Tomac out there in that top five.
16:33And one of the things that he added to that, he said, past top five back there, he starts getting crowded.
16:38It starts getting a little risky.
16:39There's a lot of elbows in there.
16:41Everyone's packed in and sit kind of forward of that top five.
16:43There's more room, more room to be aggressive and more room to chase up front there.
16:47To your point, JT, and not let Jet Lawrence get away the way he has.
16:52You didn't get that start here.
16:53Maybe you'll try again now.
16:54He's usually stronger at the start of the moment, too.
16:57Thanks, Bill.
16:57And Prado is now the runner on the move.
16:59He's got a line on Klesinger.
17:01And he's up to third.
17:03Yeah, nice move.
17:04You can see that one coming.
17:05You can start to see Aaron starting to stand up a little bit.
17:07And again, it's Southwick.
17:09And Aaron's getting in a tough spot because he's 10 seconds behind Hunter Lawrence.
17:11So he doesn't have that rabbit to chase.
17:13And it's easier when the guy behind you, Jorge, he's getting confidence by every lap.
17:17Now comes the number three.
17:20Quickly, his arrow is in third.
17:21Now he's in place.
17:22That just happened instantly.
17:24Now I expect Eli, since he's got it.
17:26Sometimes when you make a pass on a rider, you kind of relax a little bit.
17:30You know, if you're Jorge.
17:30So maybe Eli can try to shock him.
17:32But now as soon as I say that, the number seven, Aaron's trying to get him now.
17:36Plus, you're trying to get him back at the bottom.
17:38That's a battle for ninth.
17:39Harry Kulas, the rider from Estonia, has it.
17:42But the rider with those orange pants on the blue bike.
17:44That is Justin Cooper, one of the favorites today.
17:47But a rare bad start for him.
17:50Kulas right now, his season best in a moto is 12th.
17:53He is in ninth.
17:54Cooper trying to get him.
17:56That is Tomac.
17:57This is big.
17:57If he can get Prado for third.
18:00Because in motocross, the overall win for the day is two races combined.
18:04You're watching the first one here.
18:06They'll race again in an hour.
18:08And if Tomac could maybe get to third, you go out and win the second moto.
18:11A 3-1 could still get the overall for the day.
18:15Yeah.
18:15No, it'd be important for Eli.
18:16But you've got to give Jorge a lot of credit because he's riding really good as Eli got another face full of roots.
18:21And, again, that just demoralized you as a rider.
18:25You just eventually just like, man, I can't deal with this.
18:27So, you know, yeah, it's going to be important for Eli to try to continue to move forward
18:31because right now it's easy to get stuck in that position.
18:35And the next thing you know, you're riding in fourth place.
18:36And I know for him, he wants to be out there with Jett Lawrence,
18:40but he's always 22 seconds behind the guy.
18:42And all that was done that first couple laps.
18:44Yeah, Jett Lawrence in complete control up front.
18:47Ken Tomac has Jason Thomas mentioned at the top of the show, third all-time in wins at this racetrack.
18:54Any stat you want, Supercross in the indoor stadiums, motocross here outdoors, all-time starts, wins, podiums, you name it.
19:02He's in the top three in nearly every statistical category all-time.
19:05That's how strong Tomac is.
19:07Right now, though, one of the first face-offs between he and perhaps Europe's best, the Spaniard, Jorge Prado.
19:14And the fans try to will Tomac toward the podium.
19:21Yeah, Eli is actually going a lot faster than what his lifetime say.
19:24You can tell, like, with him how quickly he can catch Jorge.
19:28It's just certain parts of the racetrack.
19:29Like I said, he backs off and then tries to avoid that ruse.
19:32But what Eli is starting to do now, he's starting to pivot his motorcycle and run straight into the corners.
19:37Like right here, he doesn't lean the bike.
19:40Instead of being on that angle, because that's one big sweeper, he's starting to straighten the motorcycle up and doing that point and shoot.
19:45And it's really easy to catch a guy like that, especially at this racetrack.
19:48But the problem is, if you don't get him to beat him to the corner, now you're stuck behind him again.
19:53And not able to find daylight yet.
19:56Tomac and Prado, it might be the last battle left for the podium.
19:59But the Lawrences just continuing their run up front.
20:03One, two.
20:03Hunter Lawrence in second place right now on that 96, deep in lap traffic.
20:13And one of the stories of this racetrack is all the locals who race here consistently, they know the lines around this track.
20:20So you'll have a lot of unfamiliar names to deal with, both on the lead lap and when passing them.
20:26The lap down, Hunter able to make it happen there.
20:28And you can see the building of his results as the season has gone on, Will.
20:33They've just been getting better and better, Jason.
20:35And we talked about the top of the show, their second overall at High Point a couple of weekends ago.
20:40Their best result of the season.
20:42And that is testament to all the work that has gone in to get this Honda machine in the place that it is now.
20:49And that's not just work from Hunter.
20:51He's talked about it multiple times, how much the team has worked.
20:54And I was talking to Johnny O'Meara, their trainer, earlier on today.
20:58And he said, look, that comes right from the very top.
21:00HRC in Japan.
21:01He's like, what they give us, the things they've made available.
21:03And that filters right the way through, through the teams, mechanics, everybody down to the riders.
21:08And, of course, himself as a trainer as well.
21:10He said, I've never seen such work put in to get them to where they need to be.
21:15And it's starting to show.
21:16And, Will, that speaks volumes because Johnny O'Meara, who is the coach for them, raced for that team.
21:21One of the greats of the 1980s in Honda's powerhouse days then.
21:24So he has seen how Honda Racing Corporation works at every angle.
21:28And you don't impress him easily.
21:30Tomac continuing to work on Prado.
21:32That's the battle for third you're watching here.
21:35Again, if you're watching on Peacock, stay with us during the break.
21:39Continue to watch and listen to this battle.
21:41Tomac looking for a wheel on the number 70.
21:52Have the inside.
21:54Not enough.
21:54Oh!
21:55And Prado tucked into the corner.
21:57It goes down.
21:58Yeah, you can see that.
21:59And I think a lot of that was caused by Eli putting that pressure on him.
22:02And as I mentioned, really, the inside of these corners is really slippery.
22:07So, Horan, he got in there.
22:08He lost that front end and then hit that sand.
22:10And he just went over to Hannah Bars.
22:12Tomac pushing it and pushing him as well?
22:15Yeah, because you could see Eli was closing in on Jorge.
22:18And he tried switching it up.
22:20Jorge felt that pressure and just pushed that front end and went down.
22:22So, bummer for him.
22:24But still a good rider.
22:25Good ride by him.
22:26That will drop him behind Plessinger as well.
22:28Watch Prado the lead rider here in this duo.
22:30Yeah, you can see Jorge going.
22:32And he starts losing the front end.
22:33And it just hits that sand.
22:34And it just swallowed you up.
22:36And with them bringing that extra sand on this racetrack,
22:38the berms on the outside are getting a lot deeper.
22:40So, easy crash to happen, but a costly one for Jorge.
22:44Caught in the sandbox.
22:45Jorge Prado now back to fifth.
22:48Plessinger and Tomac pass him.
22:49It's still the Lawrence's second.
22:51Hunter Jett out front.
22:53All right.
22:53And it's still the Lawrence's second.
22:54Maybe fewer to five-inch, but a cambiasta ahead.
23:03Well, that's it.
23:13Thank you.
23:16Thank you.

27:17e a ele é muito bem ativado e ele é muito feliz e ele é muito bom e my whole point é eu
27:22vei que ele veio a essa race track mais concentrado e essa é a knockout punch
27:28para um ali tomak e as a athlete jett lawrence at eles tentar beat ele
27:34at best on the best surface and unlike the other sports you're not relying on
27:38anybody else to accomplish except for yourself so it's cool to see jett lawrence
27:41Let's go out here and do this.
27:43And, you know, so far, what, two and a half minutes to go?
27:46Man, the kid's got it going, JT.
27:48He certainly does, James.
27:49And I'm wondering, so the setup for you in 2008 was very similar to this.
27:53You come back really quickly from an ACL surgery.
27:56And you go on a streak of winning.
27:57You won every overall, every race that year.
28:00But Jett's done the same, minus two motos.
28:03But at some point, did you feel like, okay, now I can start to actually ride by myself.
28:07Now I can actually be 100% an uncork one.
28:10Because when I watch Jett, that's what I'm seeing.
28:12But I wonder for you, did you feel that way?
28:15Yeah, no, I did.
28:16And I think, like, the difference between me and where Jett is right now, in 2008, after I showed up and I'm like, I won that first moto,
28:24I felt like, look, I got the speed and I can beat these guys.
28:27I just got to stay up.
28:28So my mentality was a little bit different.
28:30I was trying to motivate myself in different ways where I feel like with Jett, even though he's got, you know, Eli Tomac, his brother out here,
28:37it almost makes it easier for him to stay focused because he knows every week he has to show up.
28:42As dominant as this kid is right now with a 10-second gap, Eli Tomac is riding really good.
28:48He's just caught behind these guys.
28:49And so, for me, I think it's easier for Jett knowing I got to show up here and bring my A game.
28:54Because otherwise, I'm going to get beat.
28:56And I've been beat twice this year.
28:57So he's really, as an athlete, you're watching probably the best he ever has written in his whole career because of the competition
29:04and him knowing that he's got to step his game up.
29:07So to answer your question, I just realized, I know he realized how good everybody else is, and he has to bring it to win.
29:13He's not having to imagine these threats.
29:16They are legitimate threats.
29:17They are legitimate threats.
29:19Where I feel like with this race, there's a difference between how he attacked this race.
29:24You know, some of the paths where Eli and all these guys, we've been talking about, you've got to get in front of Jett Lawrence.
29:29Well, Jett got a start, and Jett put in opening three laps that I haven't seen him do in the motocross here,
29:35really like sprint laps or other things, like, you know, really trying to get out.
29:40And he's been able to break those guys and get that gap.
29:43And then what happens is now he's riding this whole race on his own terms.
29:47And what he's really good at, now he's been able to do that, you know, on his own.
29:51And so, really impressive the way he's going to attack in this whole racetrack and this race in particular here today.
29:56The 21-year-old phenom out of Australia who is rapidly moving up the all-time charts statistically
30:02and rapidly moving up in this race is the veteran out of Florida here, the 24 of R.J. Hefshire.
30:09He crashed in the first turn of this race.
30:11He was essentially last around 40th, and he has come all the way up to 8th now.
30:16Show you the start again.
30:18Yeah, this is that right-handed first corner I was talking about.
30:21And it looks like somebody in the middle, they start sliding because these guys can't get on their brakes.
30:26And, yeah, when you've got a right-handed first corner and you've got guys going left, it's not good.
30:33So, well, you mentioned why that, you said that right-hand is, right-hand first turn is very rare.
30:39Why is that so tricky?
30:40And why do we not see it more often?
30:41Well, it's one of the reasons it's difficult because the guys can't get on their brakes, you know,
30:46so they can't hit the rear brakes to slow down.
30:48So once you decide to put your foot out, you've got that roll speed.
30:52So that's when you have a lot of issues.
30:54But here at Southwick, it is an uphill start.
30:57So you have that momentum.
30:58As soon as you let off the gas, the bike slows down a lot quicker.
31:01And with that sand, so I think it just catches these guys out.
31:03They're running into it.
31:04The bike slows down.
31:05And the next thing you know, they can't hit the brakes and all the things go haywire up here.
31:09Yeah, the right foot controls the rear brake, but when you stick it out for a corner, you can't use it out.
31:14Caught several riders.
31:15Hampshire has made up a ton of ground.
31:17He's going about as fast now as he did in the opening laps of the race.
31:21Shot gets rougher.
31:22There's fatigue.
31:23It has not stopped the 24.
31:25He's been very good.
31:27Moving up to the bigger 450 bike.
31:29The 250 class will be up next.
31:31We're going to watch on Peacock or the SMX Video Pass.
31:34It'll be a full day of racing even after this moto concludes.
31:37Now up ahead, Cooper Webb and Justin Cooper fighting for sixth.
31:42And that can have big numbers when it comes to calculating the points.
31:48This is that battle.
31:49Justin Cooper and a lap rider between he and Webb.
31:51No, he has caught Webb completely.
31:53And at the end of this summer, they're going to take the points from Monster Energy Supercross
31:57and the Pro Motocross Championship to create seeding for the SMX playoffs.
32:02And these are the riders' 1-2 in the combined rankings right now.
32:05And Justin Cooper is looking to make a move and steal more points from his teammate.
32:10Yeah, I'm not sure what happened to Justin Cooper in that opening off the start.
32:13Because normally he's a good starter.
32:14But he was really far back.
32:15And he's going three seconds a lap faster than his teammate.
32:19So the pass was going to happen at this point.
32:21And being our Monster Energy Pass qualifier, you know Justin Cooper has some speed to play with.
32:25So for him, he's going to be another moto where he's fastest in practice.
32:29But the results don't show it.
32:30But overall, with two minutes, a little under two laps to go,
32:34it's good to see Justin Cooper with this much speed and looks pretty fit to me.
32:38Oh, and Hampshire has joined the party on that white Rockstar Husqvarna.
32:43He wants Webb as well.
32:44Yeah, RJ's got some good pace.
32:46And I had a chance to talk to him in between practice.
32:49And he said they made some changes on the bike.
32:50He feels really comfortable.
32:51And ever since he's been on this 450, he feels like this bike suits him a lot better, his riding style.
32:57So some of the wild things that we used to say with RJ,
33:00maybe some RJ-ish things where he might hit the ground.
33:03He doesn't feel like that sketchy on this motorcycle.
33:05So it's good to see he's definitely got some pace if he can work this number two.
33:09But we know the defending Supercross champion in Cooper Webb is not an easy guy to pass,
33:14especially when he realizes he's only got a lap left.
33:16He's going to try to hold that number 24 off.
33:18It's going to be grit in that battle for seventh and eighth as Justin Cooper looks to get away.
33:23The rider out of Long Island, New York, but did not come to Southwick that much when he was growing up.
33:28There's a weird situation where the New England riders race here all the time.
33:32And the people from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania rarely enter their territory.
33:37Oh, and Hefshire dumps it on the last lap.
33:40RJ, come on.
33:41I was just talking about you being a lot smoother.
33:44So I'm going to just chalk that up.
33:45He was trying to make a pass on Cooper on that inside, just easy to fall out.
33:48But still a good ride by him.
33:51And I want to keep an eye on this battle right here for fourth place with Aaron Plessinger, Jorge Prada.
33:56Because we saw Jorge go down early in that race.
33:58Well, he's catching the number seven of Aaron Plessinger for four.
34:01So just shows you how much confidence Jorge has gotten in this motor.
34:06And he might be able to get him.
34:07Meanwhile, no one is catching Jet Lawrence.
34:13Just an incredible start to his career in three years.
34:17He has only been beaten one time in motocross on a 450.
34:21Now, missed the title last year, went out with injury.
34:23Rumors that last year's champion, Chase Sexton, might return to action next weekend at Redbud.
34:29He's been out after a big crash at the opening round.
34:34And there's that battle in the bottom box between Plessinger.
34:38He's on the orange KTM and the green machine, the Kawasaki Prado.
34:41That is for fourth.
34:43Yeah, Jorge knows Aaron's stuck behind his lap rider.
34:46So you've got to try to get him.
34:47You've got to get him now.
34:48But, yeah, what can you say about Jet Lawrence?
34:50I mean, at this point, you hope when a guy has this bigger lead, you're Eli Tomiak.
34:55You're like, man, maybe he was riding really hard.
34:57But you see him.
34:58He's recovering right now.
34:59So it's almost like he's going to be just as fresh as he was when he first went out there because of the lead he's got.
35:05And he's going to be trouble for these guys.
35:07Yeah, Moto2, he's definitely saving something for the end.
35:11Continuing to build a legacy even early in his career.
35:14He just keeps on winning.
35:16Jet Lawrence takes the first Moto at Southwick.
35:20Prado.
35:22Leaving it all on the racetrack as he tries to get Plessinger.
35:25Yeah, if he stays close, he might have another opportunity.
35:29I think if it would be, it would be right here.
35:30So Aaron, you've got to give him number seven credit.
35:32He heard him and he stepped it up.
35:34But, yeah, he might have that gap right now.
35:36Jorge's not close enough for him.
35:38But still a great route for Monsanto de Kawasaki, especially what happened in these first four rounds.
35:42Oh, yeah, still going to tie his season best with a fifth.
35:46But remember, he was running further up than that for the first time this year in this Moto.
35:50But now only one turn remains.
35:52The Lawrences have gone 1-2.
35:54The brothers from Australia, Tomac third, fourth to Plessinger.
35:59And for the first time this year, some noise in the corner of Jorge Prado looking to show everyone
36:05that he could be a contender as he was expected to be all year long.
