00:00Here we go from Hangtown!
00:07Jairus!
00:08Passed the whole shot, 2nd time this year, he's done that!
00:12Julian Beaumet right there as well, no, that's Villal!
00:16Great start by Chance, he had the perfect angle, he was in there leading that bike over and it was good.
00:21Now looks like Julian trying to get up around Casey Cochran.
00:25Yeah, Cochran and his teammate Ryder DeFrancisco, the Rockstar Gas Gas Riders.
00:31Cochran is on the 40 to 25 as DeFrancisco, that's my bad.
00:35I thought that was Beaumet, it's actually Villal on the 16, Beaumet right behind him, the pair of KTMs.
00:41Yeah, good start by all these guys, Hayden Deegan's running around in 6th place, so he's got a good start.
00:46They worked on this part of the track, they smoothed it up, so it's going to be an opportunity with that, some good lines and not too much water down.
00:53This is big for these kids bouncing back from injury, Cochran and DeFrancisco.
00:58Cochran missed all of Monster Energy Supercross, Ryder DeFrancisco missed most of it, a leg injury for Cochran, internal injuries for Ryder D, but they're strong right now.
01:07Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how these guys play, because normally these 250 guys, they're feet off, letting it hang out.
01:12I'm wondering, will they just kind of take like the 450 guys, ease into it, because it's going to be a hot day, and 30 plus 2, it's a long time for these guys to be on the racetrack with this heat.
01:21Ooh, a little Supercross rematch up ahead of Deegan, Seth Hamaker makes the move on Tom Villal, so he is up to 4th on the Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki in green. Good battle.
01:32Yeah, and we heard Tom said he needed to work on the beginning part of his day, the opening laps, and it seems like he's starting to have that same issue.
01:40Well, it comes right back at Hamaker, a bad line on the outside.
01:44Looks like we lost our leader, went off the racetrack.
01:46Uh-oh, so is that going to put Cochran into the lead? I believe it will.
01:52Second time in two weeks, that time has grabbed a hole shot that made a mistake while leading.
01:59We have what happened to the number 10, we'll give you the replay.
02:05Yeah, he's heading up towards his step up, and you can see they put a little bit of water down, assuming he gets a little wide.
02:11Okay, so he just jumps off the racetrack. That corner starts going back towards the left right there, and he just went a little wide.
02:17No harm, no foul, but definitely costly. Lose that lead. JT.
02:21Well, Casey Cochran there, remember, he was the fastest qualifier at his first ever visit to this racetrack in 2024.
02:28And when asked last weekend, like, hey, what are the goals? What are you thinking about for 2025?
02:32It was very simple. He said, I just want to remind people what I'm about and who I am.
02:37I think this is a pretty good start to reminding everybody of exactly that.
02:41Yeah, thanks, JTA. The broken femur in the offseason. Last year was his rookie campaign.
02:46Did have a podium at Millville, Minnesota, but was really a learning year.
02:49This was expected to be a year to move forward. The injury has certainly slowed that, but he is showing what he is capable of right now.
02:56But Chance Hymas, quick recovery and putting pressure on.
02:59Let's see if Chance get up the inside. Nice move by Casey closing it off.
03:03And that was all set up by Chance just staying lower through those rollers, so he had that momentum.
03:08But look at Seth Hamaker that made his way up the third place. He's ultra-aggressive. Good to see him.
03:14Yeah, Hamaker said he made some bike changes. The bottom box is Bial and Deegan battling for fifth, just behind this lead group.
03:23With DeFrancisco fourth, and then that trio of Cochran, Hymas, Hamaker. Oh, Deegan looking to make the move.
03:29Yeah, let's see if he can get it. Tom let him have it. Hayden was over there. Tom was hoping that Hayden would come up a little short so he could close that door.
03:36But nonetheless, we saw Hayden do this last weekend. He just slowly made his way up in the beginning.
03:41Actually looks more aggressive today than he did last weekend, so see how quickly he can make his way up towards the front.
03:48That was a critical juncture in the top box. Hymas not able to make that move on Cochran, has to go back to work, but also deal with the pressure from Hamaker.
03:56And what's funny is these two, the 10 and the 56, ride together during the week.
04:01They train together at the Lawrence's Dog Pound compound in Florida, so they're very familiar with each other.
04:07Yeah, but I feel like the heat's going to test their friendship on this.
04:10This race goes on. We saw him battle on last weekend. But yeah, just to see Hayden, you know, make his way up kind of aggressive compared to what he was.
04:18I think a lot of that came down to who's in front of you. Now you got Seth. He saw Seth pass him and then move his way up.
04:24So you might want to try to catch that toe as he's trying to get around.
04:30Ryder D. Ryder D, excuse me. Old rivals in the amateur ranks. Two Californians here, DeFrancisco and Deegan, who's around the outside.
04:38Look at that drive out of the corner. Yeah, you saw that one coming. And if Seth doesn't get over, he's going to get past again up the inside.
04:45Well, Seth made sure to get over there. Us riders, we got eyes in the back of our head. Trust me, especially with them Yamahas. They're loud.
04:53So Hamaker was pressing highness. Now he's going to have to deal with the champion, who again just shoots around the outside.
05:00Man, what a move right there. And yeah, Seth made a mistake and he got a pass. And I think for him, you know, I don't think he realized that Hayden was slingshotting around.
05:07But nonetheless, you better catch a toe with that number one.
05:12So Deegan moving up, JT.
05:14Yeah, Deegan is on a charge here. And I think one of the most impressive, trying to figure out who is down there.
05:19Looks like Ryder D and Vial. Ryder D and Vial.
05:21Oh, wow, yeah. Vial and DeFrancisco. So that's going to set them all the way to the back, JT. Go ahead.
05:26Yeah, just adding on Deegan, which we'll get back to here. I think one of the most impressive things is he's able to take whatever line on the racetrack he wants and still make passes.
05:35That is the number one sign that you have more pace to burn. You don't have to take the preferable line. You can go exactly wherever the other rider isn't and still go faster.
05:45That means he's probably going to get out front and pull away before not too long, guys.
05:50Yeah, I agree, JT. And the luxury for him is he's able to explore these lines and realize, OK, this one doesn't work.
05:57And sometimes you just change the line just to make the other guy nervous.
06:00Well, he's sure making a lot of these guys nervous and also making up time as well.
06:04But right here, he'll get back and just stay on the inside, just stay on the outside of his roots and he'll slingshot himself around.
06:14Definitely got these tracks figured out.
06:16These are the rivals.
06:17Hymas and Deegan had some words last season as they were battling.
06:22And there's been a little bit of it with the qualifying battles already this summer.
06:26But how about Casey Cochran starting to put time into them and pull away?
06:31Yeah, he was trying to remind us. I think he was reminding himself how good he is.
06:35It's good to see from that kid and saw Chance take a look back as he realized it's not his training partner behind him as that big number one.
06:43And you know where he's going.
06:46And pulled away a bit now from Handmaker. Handmaker telling me changes to the motorcycle is just too soft last week.
06:52He thought he would be better. He's running fourth right now. That is an improvement.
06:55But the focus is on Deegan versus Hymas.
06:58Uh-oh. Tom Vial is into the mechanics area.
07:01Oh, definitely.
07:02He's going. He's going to the pit. He's done.
07:05Man, that's a big hit for this championship.
07:08You know, not only today, but for the championship wise.
07:11If Hayden wins this race, that's 25 points. So wonder what happened here.
07:15Wow. Yeah, this is Vial who was on the podium last week.
07:19Certainly expected to run for the title.
07:21And now the run is toward the front. Deegan and Hymas about to hook it up.
07:26Yeah, I like this line for Hayden because then he goes back.
07:28Well, he didn't do it this time, but he was going wider.
07:30So he was able to cut this corner.
07:32And what it does, it straights up this whole section.
07:34He was able to carry that momentum up.
07:36See if he works that in there.
07:38So Deegan working on Hymas.
07:43Meanwhile, we'll try to figure out what happened to the 16 of Vial in this crash here.
07:49Left side.
07:50He loses the front and he just catches the back of Ryder D and pulls him down.
07:56That's why Ryder D was looking.
07:57But yeah, Tom just lost the front and his elbow actually got caught up in his will.
08:01I hope he's okay.
08:03It looks there.
08:04It looks like he's all right.
08:05But again, he has not finished the moto.
08:06What is going on up front?
08:08A three rider battle.
08:10Hayden's trying to get a BOGO special right now.
08:12Two for one chance.
08:13Realized the number one.
08:14So he needed to make his move on Casey and try to have a pick and roll situation going.
08:19And Hymas trying every line he can find.
08:22And also Handmaker has climbed back into this battle.
08:25So it's four riders and a fight for the lead.
08:28Yeah, you wouldn't think less than 10 minutes into a race.
08:31This is very important for all these guys outside of Hayden to try to manage this.
08:35Because if I'm these guys, this is exactly what you need.
08:37Going to offense, rough them up.
08:39Because we know if Hayden gets out front with this heat, his line selection,
08:42he's going to pull away.
08:45But Casey's holding his own.
08:48You'd love to see it.
08:50Handmaker in this fight.
08:52Also it's Shimoda now moving up to fifth.
08:57I think Hymas can get him.
08:59He's actually pulled away a little bit from Deegan.
09:01Yeah, I think Hayden made a little mistake.
09:03But right now it looks like he's starting to settle back in.
09:06And then he'll do another attack.
09:07So that's when you have that confidence.
09:09JT mentioned the line selection, being able to go anywhere on the lines.
09:13But also being able to take a break and then regroup and attack him.
09:16And I think that's what you're about to see from number one.
09:19And Cochran responding to that challenge, putting a few bike lengths between himself and Hymas.
09:25And now Deegan on the charge again.
09:28All right, here's that line.
09:29So he goes a little bit wider.
09:30Oh!
09:31Yeah, that's not what he wanted.
09:33What he wanted to do was cut in and get him a straight shot.
09:36So he would have been on the insider chance.
09:38But obviously overjumping that didn't help him out.
09:41Yeah, and a rough landing there for Deegan.
09:44But he's been pretty quick down here.
09:47He's got the funneling towards that inside.
09:50Now past the mechanics area.
09:52This is so good to watch.
09:57Don't count Shimoda out.
09:59He is starting to get this lead four pack in his sights.
10:03There he is.
10:04Yeah, Joe.
10:05We saw him last weekend coming up through the pack and was able to get around all these guys outside of Hayden.
10:10Oh, fantastic.
10:14Deegan on the outside.
10:16Hymas on the inside.
10:17Deegan going to make a big power run.
10:19They almost collide.
10:20Man, this kid's got these outside figured out.
10:24And it's a power move when you get a slingshot and get passed by the outside.
10:29I mean, that's just a hit.
10:30No chance.
10:31So nice move.
10:32And I'm assuming Hayden is probably going to try to do the same thing.
10:35Maybe right here to Casey Cochran if he gets a nice good run.
10:38JT.
10:39Just watching Hayden Deegan.
10:40I was expecting him to use the outside before that long run up.
10:44Big Mo over there.
10:45But he actually switched to the inside based off of where Chymas was.
10:49Next lap around, if he has not gotten around Casey Cochran yet, watch that.
10:53That long climb after the first corner section.
10:56He has so much momentum.
10:58It's a little dicey.
10:59He's on that.
11:00That scoop tire gets a little dicey at the top because he gets on the edge of the tire.
11:03But he has a great line up that hill.
11:05Happened right here.
11:06Cochran able to beat him to the inside.
11:08Yeah, I like that from Casey.
11:09He didn't roll over there.
11:10So nice move on him shutting that down.
11:13Working the edges on the inside.
11:17Yeah, Hayden's got a couple opportunities right here.
11:20As I mentioned, when he over jumped that good line, he can straighten up or try to get on the inside of Casey.
11:26But you can see all that sand, how slippery it is.
11:29And he loses the drive for this jump.
11:31So Cochran able to escape.
11:33Let's see, by the way, can Hymas and Handmaker stay in this?
11:37Try to get back to Deegan.
11:38They're going to drop back down.
11:43And these two, not strangers to each other in the amateur ranks either.
11:48Although I feel like a broken record.
11:50Every time Deegan battles someone, you say, ah, he's a rival of Deegan's.
11:53Yeah, because they're all the same age.
11:55Just one is out there and winning.
11:57But still, this is a great route from Casey because he's able to bend off Chance Hymas,
12:01which he was the fastest qualifier last week and won our title hope.
12:05So good to see him come off injury.
12:08Oh, Hayden trying to turn that outside into something as he gets to the inside here.
12:14Drag race through turn one.
12:16That's where Deegan made the move on Hymas.
12:20He's got the inside now.
12:22Yeah, he got it.
12:23And the lead.
12:24Yeah, he got it there.
12:26Is that the same line he used on Hymas for the most part?
12:29Yeah, I mean, but really, I don't know if he was expecting to go around Casey.
12:33Casey kind of laid up a little bit, allowed that pass to happen a little bit easier.
12:36Nonetheless, he was going to the front no matter what.
12:39That's Hayden Deegan, that is.
12:40Why would Cochran not be fighting him with everything he has in that situation?
12:44Well, sometimes like when you're young and not being in this situation,
12:47things start happening quick and you start to see him lose that toe.
12:50So one of the things you will try to do is breathe and relax.
12:53Maybe he has a little bit of arm pump.
12:56Anything that's not right when you've got the number one around you, he's going to get passed.
13:00So we'll see how Casey recovers after this one.
13:03Meanwhile, Haley has a report of the 16 of VL who's out of the moto.
13:06Haley?
13:07Yes, I'm back here at Red Bull Factory KTM.
13:09There you can see Tom VL's bike being worked on because the plan is he is going to race unless we hear otherwise.
13:15He actually came straight back to the pit area.
13:17As of right now, team personnel is saying he's just scratched up.
13:20But he may go be inspected by Alpine Stars Mole Medical for just a full clearance before going out for that second moto.
13:26I'll see what I can find out additionally.
13:28Thanks, Haley.
13:29Yeah, I would hope he could come out for moto 2 and try to salvage something.
13:33As Deegan, look at the gap he has pulled in this first lap out front.
13:38Very similar to what we saw last weekend.
13:41You know, when he's able to catch these guys, he's able to just pull a gap and almost demoralize him a little bit.
13:48We lost.
13:49Oh, Joe's got around set up or we lost that wonder.
13:52Joe is all over Hymas now for third.
13:55And yeah, where is Hamaker?
13:57And then Hamaker's teammate Kitchen Six, Bomair, Masterpool, Moseman, Marchbank.
14:03That's top ten.
14:05Battle of the Hondas.
14:07Shemote on the inside, James.
14:09Yeah, Joe said I could do it too.
14:10Hey, you ain't the only one that could pass people on the outside.
14:12So there you go.
14:14Unfortunately for Joe, he hopefully can get around Casey and maybe put in some good laps.
14:18But it kind of looks like it did last weekend.
14:20It had that pace.
14:21But once you lose the toe to number one, it's just hard to close that gap back down.
14:26Yeah, take Cochran out of the picture.
14:28And this is startlingly similar to the first moto last week.
14:33Hymas strong early, couple of mistakes, loses the lead.
14:37Shimoda and Deegan worked their way up in formation.
14:41But for Casey Cochran, who, by the way, I believe his deal is up this year.
14:45He's a bit of a free agent, really showing teams what he's capable of.
14:49Again, this is only his second professional season, so a great ride by the 40.
14:54Yeah, nice recovery by Casey.
15:01And it is Hatmaker still there in fifth.
15:04Just lost some distance but did not lose track position except for Shimoda.
15:08And Levi Kitchen, who needs a rebuild after a rough go of it last week with a bike problem in Moto 2.
15:15He's in sixth of our master pole, Bomara, Moseman, March Banks.
15:22Halfway through this moto, reminder of Monster Energy available now.
15:27Second place might be available now for Shimoda.
15:31He's starting to close.
15:32Yeah, Joe's starting to close on him.
15:34And I think it would be critical for him to, if he can get around.
15:38Hayden, he pulled that gap in that one lap.
15:40But then it kind of stays the same.
15:41So maybe Joe can get around.
15:44Casey could just stabilize that gap and maybe have a chance towards the end.
15:48But that's going to be hard work.
15:49Casey's riding really good.
15:51On the Rockstar Gascus was a Husqvarna rider.
15:54They moved him over.
15:55That's really a sister operation, Gascus and Husqvarna.
16:00And Joe's looking for room.
16:05Oh, that worked.
16:07Yeah, and even if he is not able to pass him, it just opens up.
16:10And if he hits this corner out this finish line lands right,
16:13he might not have a chance to square him up and get on the inside of Casey.
16:17Casey did the defense, but now Joe's going to switch him up again.
16:21That's a good ride by Casey.
16:23Joe has to go to the inside.
16:25Give you an update on the fly racing riders in this field.
16:28Got the good-looking gear there on Cochran in second.
16:31Hymas fourth.
16:33Then he got the Barak's Toyota of Redlands, Yamaha riders Schwartz and Ross.
16:38And they're 11th and 16th.
16:41DeFrancisco, who went down with Vial after running third early, is 20th.
16:45Trying to move back forward after the crash.
16:47I don't think that was actually DeFrancisco's fault.
16:50He got bumped when Vial went down right here.
16:54Yeah, it was after the rollers.
16:56And when Tom went down, I think his hand went into Roderdy's back wheel.
17:00And it was a slower part of the racetrack.
17:02So probably Hans was not on the clutch.
17:04Probably stalled the motorcycle and he just fell over.
17:06So definitely not his fault.
17:07Just a tough break for him.
17:09Hard hit by Joe right there.
17:11Cochran doing a great job.
17:13I mean, you had the likes of Hymas and Hammacher putting pressure on.
17:17And he has distanced himself from them.
17:20Still going to deal with it from Shimoda, though, the rider out of Japan.
17:23Yeah, what's impressive about Casey is that, yeah, he's holding Joe off,
17:27but he's not holding Joe up.
17:29Meaning like he's not allowing the guys behind him to, you know, catch him.
17:33So sometimes when you get a rider out there, they're a little bit slower,
17:36and the guys faster, they start blocking him, slowing you down.
17:38Casey's not doing that.
17:39He's just protecting his line, which is great.
17:43Bottom box battle just outside the top ten.
17:45You have Jeremy Martin and Jordan Smith.
17:48Good to see Jeremy back on that number six two-time champion in the class.
17:52We thought he was going to retire.
17:54Instead, he's back for at least the first two races this summer
17:57with his old championship squad star racing top box.
18:00Shimoda dances his way down to the inside and takes second away.
18:04Yeah, I think Casey was probably thinking Joe wasn't going to be able to pass him
18:08since he had the inside.
18:09Joe had some other plans and got him before the section.
18:12So nice, strong move by him.
18:16Let's see what he can do.
18:17Now it's 5.7 seconds.
18:19See if he can at least stabilize that gap or close it.
18:23Joe's going to be labeled Mr. Second Place here,
18:26looking to start the year with three straight seconds to Deegan.
18:29That bottom box, meanwhile, as for Martin that we were talking about,
18:35that's an improvement over last week.
18:36He's hovering out in the top 20, now near the top ten.
18:39Let's get more of the 30 from JT.
18:42Yeah, just thinking about Joe Shimoda, he and Hayden Deegan,
18:45obviously they've gone one-two so far throughout this series,
18:48but the impressive thing about that is they've been the only two that can
18:51systematically move forward.
18:53If you look throughout the pack, Handmaker, Primus,
18:56everybody else has kind of been stuck where they start.
18:59These two, regardless of where they start, have been able to get to the front.
19:03That bodes really well for them moving forward because they seem to have the pace advantage
19:07and they can also pass where nobody else can.
19:11Yeah, that's a great point.
19:12And it's really big for Joe because that was one of his, you know, downfalls.
19:17I said trying to pass people is very, I wouldn't say nice,
19:20but sometimes you just got to be aggressive.
19:22We know Hayden's really aggressive.
19:24So to be able to see Joe in three motos now and make his way up through the pack
19:27just shows that he has to speed, but he also has the right mindset that he wants to move forward
19:32and try to attack for some of these wins.
19:35He checked in with Shimoda this morning, said they threw a lot of different things
19:39at the bike in qualifying last week, but he's pretty happy with the motos.
19:42Didn't need to make huge changes for round two.
19:44Trio of teammates battling here.
19:47Handmaker, Masterpool, and Kitchen on the Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki's fifth, sixth, seventh.
19:52Yeah, and I believe Ty was actually able to get around Levi
19:55because Levi was ahead of and behind his teammate in Handmaker.
20:00So kind of surprising to see Seth go back like that after that start.
20:04Making his way up because he was able to pass Hayden and a few other guys.
20:08Now he's starting to go backwards.
20:10And I'm equally surprised to see Masterpool moving up because he is ill today.
20:13And we're talking about probably around 100 degrees to temperature outside.
20:17I talked to his dad this morning, said he was not 100% last week, really bad this week.
20:23And he said full salvage mode for points, and instead he's charging on the 26th.
20:29Yeah, but you know what happens sometimes, especially when it's hot out there,
20:33it's almost like everybody's going to rot like they're sick, meaning these guys aren't going to go wide open.
20:37So unlike other weekends where it's not hot, I believe these guys are out there, everyone else,
20:42because they're rotting like they're sick because they're trying to save energy.
20:45And that's going to allow Ty to be able to somewhat stabilize this thing.
20:49And now he's starting to move forward.
20:51Yeah.
20:52Oh, he's riding really well here.
20:53He's on the inside of this right-hander, and he takes the measure of his teammates.
20:57So Masterpool up to fifth.
21:01That was a beautiful line by Ty, nice smooth line.
21:04I always felt like either when you're injured or you're sick, you find those good lines like that.
21:08I don't know if you just slow down, the mind slows down, but you find some good lines around the racetrack.
21:12And he's making his way up.
21:13He's right on the back of Chance Hines already.
21:16And then Kitchen now leaning on Hamaker, and Kitchen needs this.
21:19He's got to get some momentum going, James.
21:21Yeah, absolutely.
21:22Tough break last weekend.
21:24Not the good first motor you want, but then the second motor, having the DNF,
21:28not the way he wanted to start his year off.
21:31And then he came out with the haircut, the fire hairstyle.
21:34So you better bring the heat out here even more than what it already is.
21:38At the back of this battle, Michael Moseman.
21:40Oh, that is Hymas off the track.
21:42Hymas off the track.
21:43So Masterpool around him, and here comes Hamaker.
21:47Yeah, Chance has been having struggles with the racetrack.
21:49I guess it's not wide enough.
21:51He's probably thinking it's hit.
21:52Is this regulation size out here?
21:53I keep going off the track.
21:55Oh, man.
21:56Hymas has come undone.
21:58So that Kawasaki trio goes by.
22:00Look at Levi Kitchen on the 47.
22:02Fighting and makes the move on Hamaker.
22:06Yeah, Levi saw his teammate go.
22:08So, you know, sometimes you can tell.
22:10And Seth is definitely not as aggressively what he was earlier.
22:13So now they, with Chance going out, now these guys snipped the podium.
22:17It's right here.
22:18Moose tie up into third place, or fourth place.
22:21And you got Casey Cochran riding third.
22:23So might have a chance for seven minutes to go.
22:25Yeah, let's look at the gaps here.
22:27It's only about a second now between Masterpool and Cochran.
22:33This was not what I thought we were going to get from Masterpool today.
22:36Meanwhile, Hymas has now been passed by Moseman as well.
22:40Moseman, a local, grew up riding this track.
22:43So good to see him back after several years out with injury.
22:46And Hymas all the way back to eighth place.
22:49Yeah, and that's going to be a tough break.
22:51Because we've seen this happen in the past.
22:53And that's why I was really impressed with Chance last weekend.
22:55He went off, when he went down, he was able to get back up.
22:58And he was still battling for that, you know, the podium.
23:00So to see this happen, I'm sure it's tough for him.
23:03Because he was at one point leading.
23:05Now he's out and he's riding around in eighth place, Haley.
23:08And for Casey Cochran, exactly.
23:10He is looking forward to this season,
23:12riding these tracks for the second time.
23:14Last year, he was learning so much.
23:16And when I asked him, did you get everything you wanted out of 2024?
23:19He said, yes.
23:20But most specifically, I know what it takes to lead laps and be out front.
23:24And the fact that he's maintained this position here,
23:26this has been great for Casey Cochran.
23:28Yeah, thanks, Haley.
23:29He has ridden like it's not one of the first times he's done this.
23:33No, I mean, I'm really impressed.
23:35And you got to have, this is the first time he had the fastest qualifying last year here.
23:39He really broke out with that speed.
23:41So again, when you're watching it.
23:44Oh, is that Jeremy Martin in that bottom box?
23:46Oh, you hate to see that.
23:47Yes, it is the sixth of Martin.
23:49As in the big box, that is Masterpool battling Cochran.
23:53But Jeremy and what he's calling the cherry on top of the sundae.
23:57He's just trying to have fun out here.
23:58And now out.
23:59Hope he's okay.
24:00Yeah, I can tell where he's at.
24:02You can look at his shoulder.
24:03That's a tough place to go down.
24:05It's right in front of us.
24:06So.
24:09And look at Masterpool looking for running room.
24:13This is for a podium in the moto.
24:18Yeah, Casey knows.
24:20If you just get to that inside and block him,
24:22then those guys won't be able to get around you.
24:23But Ty started getting impatient because now you can see Levi coming up.
24:28Levi just want to try to get both of them.
24:30They keep playing around.
24:31Oh, Masterpool puts himself on the outside to inside.
24:36It makes the move.
24:37Yeah, Casey's starting to labor a little bit.
24:39It's hot out here.
24:40So being out all year, it's to be expected.
24:43It's still a great route for him.
24:44But if he doesn't watch out, the number 47 is going to get him as well.
24:47It reminds me of Julian Beaumere last week who led for a bit.
24:51Thought for sure he'd podium.
24:52But this 250 class is relentless.
24:55And now it is Kitchin looking to take fourth away.
24:58Yeah, Levi should have it inside down here.
25:01But Casey closing them off.
25:04There you go.
25:05Now he's going to have to get out of his burn.
25:07But still fighting.
25:10Now Kitchin couldn't get that triple.
25:12Look at this, Cochran.
25:13He might get Masterpool back.
25:15Yeah, Masterpool didn't get that triple either.
25:17So Casey almost got him.
25:18Oh, Kitchin.
25:20Oh, that was beautiful.
25:21That was a new line.
25:22I haven't seen anybody take that.
25:24Got to keep that one for the back pocket.
25:27Power move out of the corner for the 47.
25:29Takes fourth away.
25:33This is the Levi Kitchin we expected to see last weekend at Fox Raceway round one.
25:38And he still has a shot at his teammate for third.
25:41Yeah, and if you know you got a little inside scoop, you know he's not feeling well.
25:45So maybe put a little bit of pressure on him.
25:47I'm sure he'd be happy for just the top five.
25:49Right now he's in that third spot.
25:52Yeah, I forgot.
25:53These guys are trying to keep the elements under wraps.
25:55But you're not going to do that when the guy's got a bunk right next to him in the truck.
25:58Yeah, when he's coughing all over you in between motos.
26:00So you kind of know his secrets.
26:02Handmaker now pressing Cochran as well.
26:14Still three and a half minutes and two laps to go.
26:16Deegan and Shimoda are gone as Handmaker makes a move on Cochran.
26:21Yeah, that's three passes in the last lap.
26:24So Casey has to hold on because he's got another one of Michael Mosman coming behind him.
26:30As you mentioned, that's what's hard about this class because it's so deep.
26:34Yeah, and all these guys are running the same pace.
26:36So when you start when you losing it, man, they come in train packs.
26:41Yeah, I mean, 25 great minutes for Cochran and look who it's going to result in.
26:45He's about to get past for six. There's Mosman.
26:53Mosman can't quite get it done, JT.
26:55Well, you see Cochran just starting to lose the sharp end of that pace.
26:59And I would say the same thing has happened to Chance Hymas who's dropped back tonight
27:03and is under a ton of pressure from Julian Beaumere.
27:06If we are looking for what does the heat do to you, will we be able to visibly see it?
27:10This is what it looks like.
27:12You just can't hold that lap time and you start dropping back through the field when you get hot.
27:17Yeah.
27:18Yeah, and to your point, JT, looks like Mosman's about to finish the pass.
27:23He does on Cochran.
27:25So now Cochran all the way back to seventh after running up front earlier.
27:29Yeah, that's tough.
27:30But in case you still look at the positive, I mean, it's still hot, still a good ride.
27:34I mean, he had the pace and, yeah, just tough.
27:38And what's the old saying that the team managers go with?
27:40We can work with speed.
27:42Cochran showed he has speed.
27:43Yep.
27:44Qualifying and by leading early.
27:46This, meanwhile, is what the total package looks like.
27:49You were pretty intrigued when you looked at the lap charts even last week.
27:52It's not just speed for Deegan.
27:54No, actually, the first moto, Deegan, was Hayden was like the fourth fastest.
27:59You know, and I think that's what the cool part about him is that he's not beating those guys off his speed.
28:04I mean, even this Moto Joe is actually closing the gap down.
28:08But it's this.
28:09He's taking the chances out and he's able to attack when he needs to and he's out front again.
28:15And making it look easy for the now two-time SMX world champion.
28:20And those SMX playoffs will return starting September 6th.
28:24Get your tickets to history.
28:25Go to SuperMotocross.com.
28:28Kicks off at Z-Max Dragway, part of the Charlotte Motor Speedway complex.
28:35Big gap between Deegan and Shimoda, but an even larger one.
28:39Back to, it should be Masterpool in third, although he is dealing with his teammate, Kitchin.
28:45And it changed.
28:46Yeah, Levi got around him.
28:47As I mentioned, he knows the secrets.
28:49He knows Ty's not feeling good.
28:50And Joe must have had a bad lap that last one because I looked earlier in the lap,
28:54and he actually got the gap down to five seconds.
28:56So he must have made a big mistake and he lost that time.
28:59But nonetheless, good to see these guys up here.
29:01Even a good ride by Tom Masterpool and Levi.
29:04Not the best start, but to keep making his way up.
29:06And when you start looking at Chance Hymas, you know, a title favorite, you know,
29:10at least to go up against Hayden to be one of the threats.
29:13Good to see Levi, you know, rebound out for what we saw last weekend.
29:19Send it down to Haley with more on the rider up to third.
29:22It's the chef.
29:23And the difference between working really hard and going all-in is so good.
29:25But it's everything.
29:26We know him to be a frontrunner, but this year he's made big changes.
29:30He's put on a weight to be stronger.
29:32He's hired a nutritionist, got his overall health figured out,
29:35specifically his allergies.
29:36And not just that, but he's hired a mental coach.
29:39So Levi Kitchen, good to see him really coming alive in this moto.
29:42Well, Haley, when I hear that, I just think about the investment.
29:45That is money out of his own pocket that these riders are spending to try to get to that next level.
29:51Because that's really the 250 class.
29:53It's both now, but also establishing yourself for the future.
29:57He's taking no chances, Kitchen, to try to get to that next level.
30:01Yeah, I mean, ultimately the goal is to be racing up against Jet Lawrence.
30:05Right.
30:06And for all these guys, if you go back just three years ago,
30:08we saw Levi be able to beat Jet Lawrence in this class just straight up.
30:12You know?
30:13So now you look at Jet Lawrence's powerhouse winning everything.
30:16These guys have a goal in front of them, and they see the guy that they're going to be chasing.
30:20A couple years ago, he was racing with them.
30:22So whatever it's going to take, they're going to have to figure it out and see Levi investing in himself.
30:27How about Michael Moseman here, the Monster Yamaha Star Racing Machine?
30:31It was a huge crash at this track, his home track.
30:35I thought that might have been the end.
30:37We did not see him for a long time.
30:38Multiple concussions, and then a crash, I believe, while practicing with this team.
30:43Came back for Supercross last year.
30:45He's getting ready for outdoors.
30:47Broken neck.
30:48Dwight wears the neck brace, which is pretty rare to see on the track these days.
30:51And the doctor said that was very close to being a catastrophic neck injury,
30:57but he didn't want to give up on it.
30:59He wanted to have a new approach to racing and see how it would go.
31:02He's really focusing on the consistency, and he's been quiet the last couple of weeks,
31:07but the results have been good.
31:08Eight last week, I believe it was top five at the Salt Lake finale for Supercross,
31:13and look at him go right now.
31:14Yeah, and he looks good.
31:16I mean, he was the fastest rider on the racetrack, you know,
31:18about a couple of tenths, the last lap, and by his body language.
31:21I mean, he's not laboring, and he has a chance that he should be able to get Ty
31:25Masterpool right in front of him, so that would be a good result for him.
31:28And a lot of these guys, I mean, again, it really comes down to a start,
31:32and it's good to see Michael and these dudes up here.
31:34And I believe with the heat, the start's not as important because the guys will start fading towards the end,
31:39so you might be able to make some passes up, and you're starting to see that with Michael.
31:43And remember, with the two-moto format, this pass could be critical.
31:46Imagine Mo's been making the podium at his home race here at Hangtown, fifth right now.
31:52Put the two motos together.
31:53He's certainly a player for it.
31:55A lot of fans to cheer if that happens.
31:57Yeah, I'd like to see that happen, especially when you see these guys that return off injuries.
32:02Like, you know, look, we all look up the Jet Lawrence's heroes to a lot of these kids,
32:06but I look at guys like Austin Fortner, guys that never quit.
32:09You know, Michael Mosman, you know, even Ty Masterpool, Seth Handmaker.
32:14These guys are my heroes because they have that attitude of where most mortals would give up.
32:19They never do, and they continue to come out here and fight, and that shows a lot of grit.
32:24Those are the guys you want to see have that success.
32:27Masterpool fighting off the pressure from Mosman.
32:31No pressure at all with a nearly 10-second lead for Hayden Deegan.
32:38I don't even know if we can say this is a danger zone right now.
32:41He's just in his own zone.
32:42Yeah, he's in his own zone, yeah.
32:45White flags out, James.
32:47Jersey untucked.
32:48Get a little more ventilation on a 100-degree day.
32:51Whatever it takes.
32:52You know, he's just going so fast.
32:53Jersey can't even stay in, so whatever it is.
32:56But, you know, again, what happened when those guys, if they don't,
33:00that was weird, it was like sitting down right there.
33:03But if those guys don't attack him, if they allow him out front,
33:07we've seen him be able to pull gaps, like chunks of time within one lap,
33:11and that's gnarly.
33:13When you look at the lap times, I mean, he's about less than a second faster than Joe,
33:18so it's not like he's going two, three seconds faster.
33:20But when he makes those passes and he's out front, it might as well be,
33:24and he cruises from that point.
33:29It might not be the danger zone.
33:30Might be his own zone.
33:31But it is certainly dangerous to see this type of dominance early.
33:35Not good starts.
33:37Sixth, seventh early in these first three motos of the year.
33:40And by the end of the moto, look at this.
33:42Cruise mode.
33:43Yeah, and when you want to try to, you know, out condition him,
33:47or you think maybe the heat to get to him, he's in recovery mode
33:50as he's pulling his best chance hymas impression right now.
33:53We might need to check the, I don't know if this track is regulation.
33:57He's got to going all off the racetrack, but out of bounds.
34:00Yeah, but that's just him cruising.
34:02Probably got a little laxed over there, but take a look back.
34:05He's still eight and a half seconds behind you.
34:08Ah, Shimoda and the rest of the field covered.
34:11And is it too early to start already teasing that we believe a year from now?
34:16Hayden Deegan's probably going to be in the 450 class,
34:19and what a showdown looms there as he keeps putting resume bullets up in the 250s
34:25with dominant rides like this.
34:27Nah, I mean, if he keeps doing this, then, yeah, he's going to be up in that.
34:30And you're talking about a contrast in style.
34:33Foul, boy, that'd be the heavyweight title fight that one.
34:36Yeah.
34:37Versus Jett Lawrence.
34:38Yep.
34:39Mr. Smooth against a kid who is so aggressive.
34:42Checkered flag now in sight.
34:44Three motos down.
34:46Three motos win.
34:50Four.
34:51Danger Boy Hayden Deegan taking the victory.
34:53There's Shimoda.
34:54Three motos down, three seconds for the Honda HRC Progressive Rider.
34:59Masterpool digging deep.
35:01He's sick.
35:02It's 100 degrees.
35:03He gets fourth at Kitchen.
35:05He needed to rebuild it after a tough start to the summer.
35:08And he does with a solid.
