00:59Justin Cooper, por segundo.
01:01É o primeiro time Eli's been
01:03em frente de Jett Lawrence.
01:04É uma vez que ele tem um so...
01:06É uma posição diferente, e nós sabemos
01:07que ele é o número 3.
01:08Ele cresce a confiança, e ele é capaz
01:10de ir ao seu time, e talvez
01:12ir ao Aaron antes de Jett.
01:15Vamos ter uma corrida, folks.
01:17Vamos lá, Lawrence vs. Lawrence
01:18aqui. É tão estranho
01:20para pensar sobre isso. Os começos
01:21são tão consistentes com o Jett
01:24durante o ano passado.
01:26Isso é o que eu considero
01:27a bad start for them, and it's
01:294th and 5th.
01:30É, absolutamente.
01:47muito bem.
01:50Eu acho que Jett, Lawrence
01:50foi capaz de ir ao seu irmão,
01:52o Hunter.
01:53Sim, eu estou lá,
01:54antes da área,
01:55o mecânica, ele está batando.
01:55Ele está batando.
01:57Ele está batando.
01:58ele está batando,
01:59ele está com a aí,
02:01vc Cooper.

02:06E você sabe
02:07eles estão atos
02:08ukan pela 3ª.
02:10Só não tem se
02:11enko?
02:12Mas, Eli parece bom no início da parte da corrida.
02:14Vamos ver se você se torna para o Justin.
02:15Ele vai ter uma linha, mas...
02:18Ele vai ter uma nova linha.
02:19Sim, mas você vê como hard-packed que é.
02:21Você pode começar a ver ele slide out.
02:23Se eles tem aquele pedal tire,
02:24que é a parte da parte que não vai funcionar
02:26quando ele está leitando.
02:31Back up hill.
03:20batalham a check-out Yamaha Beyond the Gate.
03:22É o inside look at Yamaha's factory-supported-race teams.
03:26Go to the Yamaha Motor USA YouTube channel
03:29each week
03:31para ver como esse race-team operas.
03:35E você vê que Eli Tomeca, como ele operas agora,
03:38o lado de João.
03:39Olha o chão, a man em casa.
03:40Olha, olha, eu vejo o chão.
03:41E olha, eu vejo que ele tem que o chão.
03:43Ele tem que pegar ele, e quando ele é em essa zona,
03:46o man é aqui para jogar.
03:50Mas shout-out para o Cowboy, Plessinger, 2.8 secondas.
03:53É um maior lead agora
03:55do que o primeiro jogo foi lá.
03:57Na verdade, ele está jogando.
03:59Sim, a trinta não é um stranger
04:01de número 7 para a frente.
04:03OK.
04:04E aí, o que foi lá no dia,
04:06A. P. was able to stick with Hunter Lawrence and get that third place, so
04:09Cowboy is looking good, now Jett Lawrence has that sense of urgency, sees Eloc going up,
04:14and he's the one guy he's never had to race on these outdoors, and especially being behind him,
04:19he doesn't know his tendencies, so we're going to find out how this plays out.
04:23Now, I erred at the start of the race, I said this is the one track Jett Lawrence hasn't won on a 450,
04:27he did win it in 2023, it's the only track where he's lost a race, he did not win it last year after a big crash,
04:34and that's it, he's won every other 450 overall in every race he's ever been in.
04:40That's a crazy stat, 16 out of 17.
04:43Yeah, you're talking about what race that I lost, no, look, it's the only race that I ever lost, period.
04:48Period, yes.
04:50But right now in fourth, closing on his old rival from the 250 class, Justin Cooper.
04:59They stretched the gap over Hunter Lawrence, which is surprising.
05:03Yeah, true.
05:03Oh, Jett looking for an opening now on a 32.
05:10Does he have a line here?
05:14Yeah, what's crazy, these two kind of ride similar, you know, Jett jumps around, both of them are very light on the bike,
05:20so they'll probably have some of the same line, but Justin Cooper, that mistake came from looking back,
05:26wasn't really paying attention, overjumped, and he might end up getting passed up the inside here.
05:30There it is, Jett to the inside.
05:32Man, yeah, he almost had the handlebars come loose in his hands.
05:36Yeah, that was a close call for Justin, but...
05:39So now Jett Lawrence up to third with Tomek second, Plessinger leading.
05:45Well, Jett makes the move there, you know, it's such an interesting dynamic here, because I think if it was just AP out front,
05:51you'd see a very patient, very reserved Jett, because he knows he has 24 minutes plus two laps to get to the front,
05:58but you simply cannot do that with Tomek, and that's the question.
06:01He doesn't have the experience, like James was saying.
06:03He doesn't know exactly how to race Eli Tomek yet, so I think you're going to see him be a little bit more urgent,
06:10press a little bit harder here early in the mid part of the race than maybe he would otherwise.
06:13Well, you look at the lap times there, he's not as fast as Plessinger or Tomek, but he was battling Justin Cooper,
06:21so it's going to be a real tale of the tape this next time around.
06:24Open racetrack for the 7 to 3 in the 18.
06:27Who's quickest?
06:28Yeah, at this moment, Jett's already starting to close that gap, and he's pushing it because he wants to close that gap,
06:34because as we were mentioning it, the one thing he doesn't know, he doesn't know if Eli's going to fade at the end of the race.
06:39It's like he doesn't know how his Eli's confidence, and all that being said, Aaron's stretching that gap out.
06:47It's true, we're hyping up Tomek and Lawrence, multi-time champs, but how about Aaron Plessinger, 3 1⁄2-second lead.
06:58It's cowboy country out here.
07:00It's an old western right now in Hangtown.
07:02Every place is cowboy country.
07:04Well, true, and that's the fans.
07:05The drone giving you a good idea of the gap.
07:09This is a solid lead.
07:11It's very solid, and one thing I didn't think about was that as this track drives out, it's going to play well to the KTM.
07:17We know it's a little bit softer frame, so it gives a little bit more than the other bikes,
07:21so Aaron looks really comfortable out here, and as this day goes on, this bike's going to work even better,
07:26so might have slept on the cowboy.
07:30Yeah, we saw that real shiny rut at the top of that hill.
07:32Is that the type of section you're talking about, that hard stuff?
07:34Yeah, I mean, even right here, the chatter, the breaking bumps, so Hangtown has a hard base to it,
07:40as you can see, those sliding things, and he looks comfortable out here, so for me, Aaron looks really good.
07:46Probably the best I've seen him outdoors in a long time.
07:48What direction will it go?
07:50Plessinger over Tomek.
07:51Lawrence, Justin Cooper is fourth.
07:55Here's Tomek.
07:55We've got a battle here between Shock and Hampshire, sixth and seventh.
08:00RJ has a line to the inside, but not close enough.
08:04Yeah.
08:05RJ, we heard him in the break right there.
08:08It feels comfortable, a lot calmer.
08:09He's the thinking man now.
08:10Yeah.
08:11He's thinking of a line to make a move on Shock, and he finished the deal.
08:15Oh, he did.
08:17Yeah, that was a nice move, and just like Aaron's bike, the Husqvarna is a little bit softer, too,
08:21so it allows them, those guys, to land off that finish line because the bike flexes a little bit more.
08:26Now, hard pack, he's able to get underneath him, so a nice move by him,
08:29and he's going out there at 96, which is right in front of him.
08:33Yeah, RJ looking strong on the 450.
08:34That is what he told me yesterday.
08:36He says he now has time to think about different lines and race strategy on the 450,
08:41where on the 250, it was just wide open, don't even breathe, don't even think, go.
08:46And you were saying you think as wild as RJ's riding style is,
08:52it might actually be more tame on the 450.
08:55Yeah, and the reason I believe that is because the 450 has so much power on it.
08:59One, you can't ride it like a 250, and if RJ, by riding the 250 so hard,
09:05you're trying to find the power, especially dealing with these Yamahas,
09:07so he doesn't have to do that in the 450 class.
09:09What allowed him to slow down and be more patient, and I think that's what we're seeing
09:13because he's riding really good as he's watching his teammate behind Jorge Prado right here,
09:18my brother.
09:20Yeah, that is nine for Prado, and Malcolm Stewart there in 10th closing.
09:27And a real test for Prado.
09:29The heat probably a little higher than most of the MXGP races.
09:33They have some hot ones, and they go to Indonesia and things like that.
09:36Send it down to Haley.
09:38Thanks, Weech.
09:39When I spoke with Jorge Prado after the race last week, he was not stoked with his race finish.
09:44No, he expects to be up front.
09:46He expects to be winning, but he gave it a nod to.
09:48He is learning this season.
09:49He is learning these tracks.
09:51He's learning racing in this format and doing it with Monster Energy Kawasaki.
09:55So he just has to be a sponge, absorbing so much information at a very fast pace, Jorge Prado.
10:00Yeah, and I visited the team this morning, Haley, and they said they learned a lot.
10:05The way Oscar, the crew chief, put it, he did not ride in the race like he did during the week,
10:11but they were testing.
10:12Simply put, everybody rides just a little bit harder.
10:14They race a little bit differently, so they've had to make some bike changes,
10:18and that's probably going to be a constant.
10:19He said, yeah, we'll probably be learning all year.
10:21Yeah, I mean, Jorge has got to be careful, too, because he's a two-time MXGP champion,
10:26and all he knows is winning, especially when you get outdoors.
10:29So when you're not winning, I don't care where you're at.
10:31You might be at my house or grandma's house or here at Hangtown.
10:35You want to win, and when you're not, it just hurts you as a confidence.
10:38So Jorge has got to be careful, and I know the Kawasaki guys are doing the right thing
10:42about just trying to get him set up, letting him know it's okay not to fall in the zone,
10:46and you start just racing behind you and forgetting what made you who you are
10:50because, believe it or not, he's running in eighth place right now or ninth place.
10:54The guy wants to be winning, and he's not happy unless he's up front battling with those guys.
10:58No, it's probably been a long time since he's been in a fight just to stay inside the top ten.
11:03A couple other riders we're going to show you here because the gaps are not changing much up front,
11:07so update you and a couple other riders coming over from Europe.
11:10We've got Benoit Pacherelle there in 15th on the Twisted T Suzuki.
11:14The Frenchman, right in front of him, the Swiss native Valentin Quixote,
11:20and these two have sure battled many, many times throughout their lives.
11:24Two veterans, and Pacherelle actually came to California in the springtime
11:30and just started riding the local tracks out there hoping someone would notice.
11:34But he's going fast, and it worked.
11:36Ended up getting this deal with Twisted T Suzuki because Kyle Chisholm,
11:39who raced for them, and Supercross does not race full-time motocross any longer.
11:44And then Guillaude raced the first two MXGP rounds.
11:49What's up, Privateer?
11:50Wasn't making any money over there.
11:52Said in three days he got more help with Yamaha and the Rock River team over here
11:56than he did the first three rounds in Europe.
11:58So he's here for the whole summer.
12:00Yeah, it's good to see these guys out there.
12:01They've got Roman Pope behind them.
12:04and it's like the Swiss Frenchman is alive.
12:07And the Swedish rider.
12:08Yeah, he's coming up, and these guys, they battle every weekend.
12:11I feel like around this anywhere from like 12th to 18th,
12:15these guys meet up, and they decide to battle.
12:17So they're probably out here like, man, you really want to push that hard?
12:20It's hot out here today.
12:21Let's take it easy.
12:22Yeah, so that is, let's see.
12:24We've got the Swiss native, the Frenchman, the Swedish rider,
12:27another Frenchman battling right now.
12:29And also interesting, when we get back to just outside the top 20,
12:38Harry Koulos, Estonian rider, he expects to be with them,
12:41Gijode and Petrel, because he's been racing him his whole life.
12:44He knows where he normally stands.
12:46Let's send it down to Haley again.
12:47Thanks, Weege.
12:48You were talking about when Benoit Petrel came to the U.S. earlier this spring,
12:52and actually as soon as he got here, he got linked up with Marvin Muskan,
12:55and he actually stayed at Marvin Muskan's house while Marvin was away in Florida.
12:59So we know there's a relationship there.
13:01And we know from other current riders, specifically in the 250 class with Tom Vial,
13:05they've proven that when working with Marvin Muskan,
13:07things turn out pretty well for them.
13:09Yeah, Marvin, one of the all-time greats out here.
13:11We talk about how great Tomac was at Hangtown.
13:13It was often Muskan who Tomac was battling with for the win.
13:17So he has a lot of knowledge.
13:19Good to see Pat Charyal carrying the flag here for Twisted T.
13:23Suzuki up front.
13:24You can see the lap times.
13:26Tomac has inched up a little bit on Plessinger,
13:29but they have actually distanced themselves from Lawrence,
13:32who's now, well, it was seven and a half.
13:36We're going to see.
13:37It just changed.
13:38We're going to find out if that's a transponder situation
13:40or if suddenly Lawrence is closing the gap.
13:43We'll let you know in a moment
13:44as Pat Charyal, Noren,
13:47and the rest of the European contingent battle.
13:50Here's Tomac.
13:52Let's get an idea of the gap.
13:53Yeah, that gap's been stretched out a little bit.
13:56It has.
13:57Yes, that was, it's not 4.7.
13:59It's eight and a half between the leader and Lawrence.
14:01So we're not even at the halfway mark,
14:04but I'll tell you what,
14:05Jett did not make up any ground at all
14:06when he got up to third.
14:08Yeah, I was kind of cheating a little bit,
14:09wondering where they were
14:10and just looking at them make some mistakes out there.
14:13I mean, all these guys are trying,
14:14and the one guy who actually looks the most comfortable
14:16is the guy out front, Aaron Plessinger.
14:18So little mistakes like that from Eli.
14:21He went off the track of that last lap,
14:22but still, as you mentioned,
14:25we're not even halfway yet.
14:27Well, it was interesting
14:28when they all had open track for the first time.
14:31The lap times were within a tenth of each other,
14:33all three.
14:35And now Tomac has pulled away from Lawrence
14:37just a little bit.
14:38Last time around, 158 from Plessinger and Tomac,
14:41159 for Jett.
14:44With these conditions, James,
14:46the 100-degree temperatures,
14:48you'd think we're seeing
14:49maybe a little bit more strategy here.
14:51We're halfway through.
14:53So a reminder,
14:54Monster Energy available now
14:56way into the second half of this race.
14:57Got to wonder how these riders
14:58are managing the temperatures.
15:00Send it down to JT.
15:02Thanks, Weech.
15:02I've just been kind of racking my brain.
15:05Ever since Jett Lawrence has moved to 450,
15:07I'm trying to think of a time
15:09where he was not able to match the pace
15:11of anyone in front of him.
15:13And I simply can't.
15:14Now, we know these are extreme conditions.
15:16It's the hottest race since 2022.
15:19We also know Jett Lawrence is coming back
15:20really early from a knee surgery,
15:22but you see a huge mistake there.
15:24And I don't know if he's struggling with the bike,
15:26but I, guys, I just,
15:28I've never seen him not be able to close a gap,
15:30and that has to be notable.
15:31Yeah, I'm with you, JT.
15:34And like those mistakes that you're seeing,
15:36I was watching him,
15:37and, you know, again,
15:38it's a unique place for him to be at
15:42because, yeah, as you mentioned,
15:43he wasn't able to close the gap.
15:44So all the things,
15:46him being able to jump around,
15:47you can't do that
15:48when you're trying to have to close a gap
15:49because it's not that fast.
15:51It's not faster.
15:52It's just overall,
15:53it's a lot more consistent.
15:54But when you're almost 10 seconds behind a guy,
15:56you're going to have to push.
15:58You're going to have to ride more like Eli,
15:59and he's never been in this position.
16:01So I don't know if this is playing the alone game.
16:04I think this is a little bit more
16:05of just different scenarios,
16:07and we're going to find out.
16:09Oh, I feel like we've seen more mistakes
16:11of this half a lap from Jett
16:13we've had the camera on
16:14than you'll see in an entire race sometimes.
16:17And now he's 10 seconds back.
16:19Yeah, and I believe a lot of that
16:21is because normally he's dictating the pace.
16:23And like I said, last weekend,
16:25he was able to almost pull Eli into trapping him
16:28almost when he's going into corners.
16:29by being so patient,
16:31Eli's slamming into it.
16:32But now he's got to do the pushing,
16:34and you're starting to see the mistakes.
16:36So race ain't being dictated by him.
16:38It's being dictated by the number seven out front.
16:40Might be the first time to JT's point
16:42that we have seen Lawrence go into points mode.
16:45I don't know if he's going to make a run at it.
16:47Look at the lap times.
16:49That lap eight,
16:50those mistakes really cost him.
16:51But those 159s aren't getting it done
16:54because for a while,
16:55Tomac and Plessiger were still doing 158s.
16:58And that's why the lead has gone back
16:59to 11.4 for Lawrence up front.
17:03We still have not given enough love
17:04to Aaron Plessiger
17:05because even beast mode Eli Tomac
17:07is not there yet.
17:08He has not been able to make a dent
17:10in Plessiger's gap.
17:11Does he have a run at him now?
17:13Yeah, Eli's been,
17:14I believe Eli's faster,
17:16but Aaron,
17:17they're pretty close in speed,
17:18but Aaron's bike just looks better.
17:20Is he able to get in these corners?
17:21And as I mentioned,
17:22just the KTM just seems a little bit softer.
17:24So when he's leaned over,
17:26his bike has more traction,
17:27which is allowing him to be more Jet Lawrence-ish,
17:30not making some mistakes,
17:31like coming out of that corner,
17:32his bike's hooking up.
17:33He's able to get there.
17:34And when you see Eli,
17:36he gets close,
17:36but then he makes a mistake.
17:37He slams it in the corner,
17:38kind of like what we saw last weekend.
17:40So we're going to be interested to see
17:41what 12 minutes left.
17:42is he able to close that gap
17:43without making the mistakes?
17:45Bottom box,
17:45Jorge Prado makes the move on Cody Schock.
17:49That'll put him up to eighth.
17:50Haven't mentioned Cooper Webb.
17:51He's running strong in seventh place.
17:54The new champion of Monster Energy,
17:56Supercross Hampshire.
17:57We saw him earlier in sixth.
17:59Hunter Lawrence, fifth.
18:00Justin Cooper, fourth.
18:02All right, James,
18:03what I was getting at a couple of minutes ago,
18:05is there a little bit more management
18:06of energy reserves and things like that
18:09because of the temperatures in this moto?
18:10Yeah, absolutely.
18:13As you can see,
18:13Aaron's hand kind of blew off at that point
18:15as that bike is getting to the point.
18:18But yeah, it is.
18:19But you can see the mistakes
18:20that all these guys are making.
18:22I mean, Aaron was making the least out of all those.
18:24But, you know,
18:24Eli's making mistakes.
18:25We saw Jet making mistakes.
18:26So it's not like they're in cruise mode.
18:30Even Jet running to 159s,
18:31it seems tough for him to do that.
18:33So imagine him trying to pick up the pace
18:35and go to 157s to be able to catch these guys.
18:38He might not have been able to do it.
18:38So I don't think they are in that mode yet.
18:41Okay.
18:41Meanwhile,
18:44Plessinger has stretched it to 4.3,
18:46a bad lap for Tomac.
18:48A two-minute flat for Plessinger,
18:50a 2.01 for Tomac and Jet Lawrence.
18:53Chase Sexton,
18:54the defending champion,
18:55not here,
18:56banged up,
18:56not 100%.
18:57But Red Bull KTM's got a runner anyway.
19:00How about Plessinger,
19:01if he can put both Tomac and Jet Lawrence away straight up?
19:05Yeah.
19:05And I think a lot of that comes down.
19:07These next three laps
19:08are going to be very important for AP
19:11if he's able to win this race.
19:12JT.
19:13Yeah, I echo that sentiment, James.
19:15You remember last year
19:16when Chase Sexton came from last to first?
19:19Well, guess who was winning that race the entire way?
19:21That was AP.
19:22And you know he hated giving up the lead
19:24on the very last lap,
19:26even though it was to his teammate.
19:27That has to be fresh in his memory.
19:29He's like,
19:29I'm not going to relent again.
19:32Somewhere in his psyche,
19:33last year's second place is lingering.
19:37And Plessinger's still looking
19:38for his first career 450 moto win.
19:44Still 10 minutes center,
19:46two laps to go.
19:47And we'll give you an idea of the gap.
19:52Yeah, that's not much.
19:53No, it's not much.
19:55And when you're watching AP,
19:56I actually think he's now starting
19:58to get in that vanishment mode,
19:59as you were talking about.
20:00Okay.
20:00Really just consistent.
20:01Just try not to overwhelm yourself.
20:04You still got 10 minutes left in here.
20:06So what you might see is
20:07Eli might be able to close that gap
20:09pretty easily.
20:10But if AP's just trying to manage his thing
20:12and not trying to make the mistakes,
20:14he might be able to hold on to it
20:16because Eli's definitely pushing still.
20:18Give you the check-in
20:19for the Monster Energy Yamaha star racing team.
20:21Tomac second,
20:22Cooper fourth,
20:24and Cooper Webb
20:25is seventh.
20:29Now we'll give you the gap
20:30between Tomac and Lawrence.
20:33And that is sizable.
20:35Let's send it down to Haley.
20:37Thanks, Weege.
20:38You and I were catching up
20:39with Darren Lawrence,
20:40the father of Jet
20:40and Hunter Lawrence this morning.
20:42And he was saying that
20:43the issues they're sensing
20:44with that bike
20:45is not when they're simply on pace.
20:47that's when for Jet specifically
20:49that when he's pushing
20:50north of 100%,
20:51102, 103%,
20:53is where he really has to assert
20:55more effort to control that bike.
20:57He hasn't had the comfortability
20:58when he's pushing north of 100%.
21:00So, guys,
21:01I'm just curious to see
21:02what's your read
21:03on his body English now?
21:05Does he look like
21:05he is pushing more than 100%
21:07or is that even necessary
21:08here in Moto 1?
21:10No, I think that's what
21:12we were seeing earlier
21:13when he was making those mistakes
21:14is that now, you know,
21:15being out front,
21:16he's able to dictate the pace.
21:17but he lost that time.
21:19So now he's going to have
21:19to push himself
21:20and he's starting to make
21:21a lot of mistakes.
21:22So I think Darren is right.
21:24Doesn't look that good
21:25when you're trying to push,
21:26but nope, still third place.
21:29Well, for 32 of Justin Cooper,
21:31which we're going to get to
21:32here in a second,
21:33I actually really like
21:34the way he looks.
21:35You know, he got the start
21:36that he was looking for
21:37and I think it's just
21:39really important for Justin Cooper
21:40to stay here in this top five.
21:42The more he can do that,
21:43he's become more
21:44and more comfortable.
21:45There he is coming down
21:46the hill towards
21:47the mechanics area,
21:49but he looks the part
21:49and that's what he wants to do.
21:50He wants to establish himself
21:52as a podium weekend,
21:54week out guy
21:54and a true championship contender.
21:57And I'll be honest with you guys,
21:58if he hangs in there
21:59could drop some really fast laps.
22:01I don't think Jet Lawrence
22:02is out of the question.
22:03Jet's wavering pretty bad
22:04when he can't pass here.
22:11Let's go back to fifth here.
22:13It's going to be Hunter Lawrence.
22:15Yeah, Hunter Lawrence,
22:16probably not the ride
22:17that you want,
22:17but when you're looking
22:18at Jet Lawrence
22:19and your brother's struggling,
22:20I'm assuming that
22:21they're probably having
22:21some of the same issues as well.
22:23And if you've got to remember,
22:24as dominant as they were last weekend,
22:26these guys are coming off the couch
22:28and maybe that fitness
22:30and with his heat
22:30is probably getting to him.
22:31As you can see,
22:32made a mistake.
22:33He's not the same Hunter Lawrence
22:35as he was last weekend.
22:36And when these races
22:37get long like this
22:38and that heat gets up,
22:39it is hard being out here
22:40by yourself in no man's land.
22:42And I would say
22:43that's where Hunter Lawrence is.
22:44No one in front of him,
22:45no one right behind him,
22:47hard to keep charging.
22:50Well, you don't have to worry
22:51about the charging
22:52from the sixth place rider,
22:54RJ Hampshire.
22:55He'll always give you
22:56everything he has.
22:57and because of that,
22:58he has started to close
22:59and now has Hunter Lawrence
23:01in his sights.
23:03This is quite the 450 debut
23:05for RJ,
23:06especially considering
23:07wrist surgery Monday
23:08after the Salt Lake City
23:10Supercross finale.
23:11That's only two weeks ago.
23:13They took a bone
23:14out of his wrist
23:14and he's riding this well,
23:17sixth and could be fifth
23:19before it's over.
23:23Hold on to that, RJ.
23:27and still digging.
23:32There we see on our screen
23:33Cooper Webb.
23:34In my interactions
23:35with him this outdoor season,
23:36I like the mood
23:37from this guy.
23:38I like how he's approaching things,
23:40just his personality
23:41this weekend.
23:43You know,
23:43last week when I spoke to him,
23:45he was pairing himself
23:46and keeping tabs
23:47on Jorge Prado
23:48and he was really stoked
23:49to be ahead of pace
23:50with Jorge
23:51or just on pace with him.
23:52Well, he's doing it right now.
23:53Haley, he is seventh.
23:55Prado is eighth.
23:56Webb did say he made
23:57some changes this week
23:58to the motorcycle.
23:59Things are better.
24:00Things are better
24:01for his teammate,
24:02Eli Tomek, as well
24:03because he has cut the cap
24:04in half to Plessinger.
24:06Yeah, you're talking about
24:07on pace.
24:08I mean, Eli's been looking
24:09the same way
24:09this whole race
24:10and as I mentioned,
24:11AP started to look like
24:12he was starting
24:13and trying to save his energy
24:14and make his way
24:15around the racetrack,
24:16be real consistent about it.
24:17So I felt like Eli,
24:18if he just got a clean lap,
24:19you better close that gap
24:20and that's exactly what happened.
24:22So if I'm Eli,
24:23I'm going to try
24:23to make the pass now
24:25because it feels like for me,
24:26I'm taking some chances
24:27to get to AP.
24:29Might be easier for him
24:30to do it.
24:30I got to get him now.
24:33Oh, it's on right now
24:34and still plenty of time
24:36for Tomek to make the move,
24:38slicing through some lap traffic.
24:40And these fans
24:44who braved the 100 degree
24:45temperatures on their own
24:46to come out here
24:46and watch this.
24:47It's what they wanted to see,
24:48the return of ET3 to Hangtown.
24:51Yeah, I love that inside
24:52going down that hill
24:53by Aaron, man.
24:54He cuts off half the track
24:56and it looks a lot smoother.
24:57I don't know if Eli
24:58just can't get there or what,
25:00but definitely losing some time
25:02for sure right there.
25:04Yeah, last two laps,
25:05you see that lap time comparison
25:06there, Tomek has put a bunch
25:08into Plessinger.
25:09so the key is that 2.04,
25:11that lap time drop-off,
25:13was that just one bad one
25:14for AP or is he starting
25:16to labor?
25:17Yeah, we don't know.
25:18Maybe Aaron got caught up
25:19with some lap riders
25:20because, I mean,
25:21as quickly as Eli's got there,
25:22that gap's kind of stabilized.
25:24so, well, last year when Sexton
25:28caught him on the final lap
25:30in that amazing last
25:32to first charge,
25:34Plessinger said he was cramping up.
25:35He had nothing left to fight with.
25:37It's hot today.
25:38This is only the first moto,
25:40but he is proving strong right now.
25:41Yes, not letting Tomek
25:44get any closer.
25:44Yeah, you can see that gap go again.
25:48And as I mentioned,
25:49when you watch AP,
25:51it just looks like he's able
25:52to do it easier.
25:53And even though Eli's there,
25:54the bike's bouncing around,
25:55it's just a little bit harder
25:56for him.
25:57So, unless both these guys
25:59are riding really good,
26:00anytime you can put that much time
26:02on jet launch,
26:03it's a win.
26:04Yeah, as JT said,
26:06anytime,
26:07it's almost been never time
26:09that we have seen that
26:10or jet cannot get there.
26:12So, it is going to be,
26:13it looks to be,
26:14down to these two.
26:16And Plessinger,
26:17well done.
26:18He stretched it.
26:21Yeah, I felt like Eli,
26:23the only chance he really had
26:24was once he got close to him
26:25because, you know,
26:26as quickly as he got there,
26:27you could just tell,
26:28like, it was hard for him
26:29to do it,
26:30really to be consistent with him.
26:32And that one quarter previous to this,
26:33his hand came off.
26:35So, he's definitely charging.
26:38See if he has one more
26:39good run with him.
26:41And remember,
26:42it's a two-moto format,
26:43so the overall still up for grabs
26:44later today in moto two.
26:46And as they say in motocross,
26:48a second is as good as a first
26:51if you win moto two.
26:53A two-one gets you the overall.
26:54So, how will these two play it?
26:59Yeah, if you're Eli,
27:00you don't want this to happen.
27:01I mean, it'll be two weeks in a row
27:02that you can somewhat say
27:04you're able to close in on a leader,
27:05but be that close
27:07and not be able to get him.
27:08But Aaron Plessinger,
27:10I don't think we picked this one coming in.
27:12Kids run great.
27:15Yeah, so much talk about
27:16Lawrence versus Tomek
27:18after last week,
27:19after their history is
27:20so many race wins and titles
27:22between the two of them.
27:23And Plessinger might
27:24get his first ever
27:25450 moto win
27:27against them both right here.
27:28two and a half minutes
27:34and two laps left.
27:36Three seconds, the gap.
27:39Yeah, they both done
27:40the breaking point.
27:41If Eli can close the gap,
27:43it'll give him some motivation
27:44to maybe push towards the end.
27:46If I'm Aaron, man,
27:47if I don't make a mistake
27:48and this gap stays the same,
27:50once that two lap board comes out,
27:51he's going to have
27:52close to three laps,
27:54maybe four laps
27:55depending on
27:55how fast they hit
27:57this next lap.
27:59What's that two lap board
28:00come out?
28:00I'm going to hold
28:00this thing off to the finish.
28:05And you hear the fans
28:06still powering Tomek forward.
28:08He's got it back down.
28:10It was almost three seconds.
28:11Now it's 1.6.
28:14Oh, Plessinger
28:15almost went for a ride.
28:16Big mistake.
28:17Yeah, now Eli senses
28:19that he needs to go out
28:20and hit this berm.
28:21There you go.
28:22Not try to make that inside
28:23because if he has that paddle tire,
28:24it's not going to work
28:25on that hardback
28:26and so he's got to be patient.
28:28So a nice adjustment
28:29from the three.
28:31Oh, another mistake
28:33from seven.
28:34Yeah, Eli knows it.
28:38Plessinger lost traction
28:39at the beginning
28:40of the uphill.
28:41Now Tomek has him.
28:44Let's see how much
28:45this line works out
28:46for Aaron.
28:46It's inside.
28:51Tomek send it.
28:53Sends it down that hill
28:54and loses time.
28:57Yeah, just
28:57my inside lines.
28:59Aaron's crushing that.
29:01He's able to get that bike
29:01leaned over
29:02and that's so frustrating
29:04if I'm Eli
29:05because I'm like right there
29:06but look how quickly
29:06he's able to catch
29:07back up.
29:09Yeah, there are
29:10a couple of insides.
29:11Plessinger looks very smooth.
29:14It's a good line
29:15by Aaron.
29:15He just went in the middle
29:16and missed all those bumps.
29:17and he's able to get it.
29:19He's able to get it.
29:19He's able to get it.
29:20Oh, Tomek's got it
29:21in his sights.
29:22Time running out
29:23100 degree temperatures.
29:25Who's going to dig
29:26deepest here?
29:28That corner right there.
29:29Plessinger greases it.
29:30At the top of the hill
29:35he's been good too.
29:37Oh, not that time.
29:40Yeah, that's the hard part.
29:41I think Eli made a mistake
29:42too from seeing him
29:43but as a rider
29:44being 30 minutes into
29:45when that bike slides out there
29:46you're just like
29:47oh my gosh
29:48this thing's 500 pounds
29:50but still
29:50you're so close
29:51and I think Jason
29:52there might be
29:53three laps left
29:54to get to that pinnacle line.
29:56Oh, it's going to be
29:56so tight James
29:57it's clock
29:58watch closely
29:59it's the last turn
30:00will it be two to go
30:01or not?
30:03It is two to go
30:04that is going to help
30:06Plessinger big time
30:07it could have been three
30:08the clock just expired
30:10Aaron couldn't even
30:11get the bike turned
30:12over
30:13beast mode now
30:16Tomek with two to go
30:18finding strength
30:19Eli, you got to funnel
30:22back into this outside
30:24good move right there
30:24you know that bike
30:25ain't going to work
30:26we saw Aaron make it
30:27maybe charge down
30:28this inside
30:28because you know
30:29Aaron ain't going to
30:30hit it
30:30he tried
30:32Plessinger is going
30:33to block the inside
30:34can Tomek get a run
30:36here he comes
30:38there he goes
30:39Eli Tomek to the lead
30:41big power move
30:45by the three
30:46and the old
30:48hangtown spirit
30:49for Tomek is back
30:51man what these
30:53athletes
30:53nice line by Eli
30:54he saw it
30:55go to the inside
30:56where he was losing
30:57all that
30:57and that might be
30:59all she rode
30:59look at him
31:02go
31:02and pulling away
31:04Tomek
31:06saved it to the end
31:08and this is beast mode
31:09at his finest
31:10baby getting a new crib
31:13if I hold this off
31:15and here's what's crazy
31:17Plessinger has led the
31:19last 32 laps
31:20of this track
31:20he led every lap
31:22except the checkered flag
31:2429 of the last 32
31:26last time
31:27and now down to the
31:29two laps to go
31:30in the first moto
31:31this time
31:32but he is still
31:36it looks to be denied
31:38as far as that first
31:40career moto
31:40win at a 450
31:41wow man
31:44what a ride by Eli
31:45and man he is exhausted
31:46you can tell by him
31:47going up that hill
31:48he has to just sit down
31:50going up that step up
31:51because those guys
31:51are so tired
31:52but I mean look at the gap
31:54already
31:54he was able to pull on Aaron
31:55about five seconds
31:56in that one lap
31:57but still great ride
31:58by the number seven
31:59want to get the idea
32:02of the gap between
32:03Plessinger to Lawrence
32:04everyone laboring
32:06now in these conditions
32:07but Tomac is so strong
32:09one to go
32:11it's been about a thousand days
32:16since Eli Tomac
32:17has won a moto
32:18in the pro motocross championship
32:21and you want to talk all-timer
32:23he gets this one
32:24he's going to break
32:25a multi-way tie
32:27and become the second

32:51over Aaron
32:52in this last lap
32:53that's why we call him

32:55when everybody else
32:56is feeling it
32:57this dude comes out
32:58and you're witnessing
32:59Bigfoot right here

33:05that has led to
33:07four championships
33:08in this series
33:09and we might add
33:10that the last time
33:10he did win
33:11that thousand days ago

33:18hanging in the balance
33:19between he and Chase
33:20Sexton
33:20and he got it done
33:21yeah when Eli
33:23prior to Jet Lawrence
33:25this was almost
33:26a foregone conclusion
33:27that he was going to win
33:28on these hot days
33:29Jet Lawrence just been
33:30so dominant
33:30he had to question him
33:31but there ain't no question
33:33whether this guy came here
33:34to
33:34and he's serious
33:35about winning his championship
33:36oh yeah
33:37and at this age 32
33:39when most riders are
33:40well even he
33:41had been considering
33:42retirement
33:42at one point
33:43he says he wants back
33:44next year
33:44and it's because of
33:45rides like this
33:46why step away
33:47when you still might be
33:49the best in the business
33:50he weighed a little bit
33:56was there some patience
33:57he took it down to two laps
33:58no I think Aaron
33:59was just running really good
34:00really I see
34:01yeah but Eli's definitely
34:02the strongest one so far today
