00:00For the high point.
00:06Oh, não é tão bom para Deegan, esse time.
00:10E é Tom Vial, off to the early lead.
00:12Another great start for Nate Thrasher, and Hamacres.
00:16Oh, wait a minute, where did Deegan come from?
00:18He got to the inside, around Heimas, Hamacre, and to the lead.
00:22That was a nice save by Tom Vial.
00:25He was losing the front end.
00:26Looked like Chance Heimas got a better start.
00:27It was Michael Moseman that went down off the start.
00:30So, tough break for him.
00:31He's got a long ways to go, but look at that.
00:33As quickly as Hayden Deegan wasn't there, he was there,
00:35and now he's out front, where these guys are going to have to chase him down again.
00:38But Chance Heimas has moved up into that third position.
00:41Good start.
00:42Heimas' chance to show what he's got.
00:44Also, look at Kinshin making moves on the green Kawasaki back there.
00:48Said he needed to work on the early race intensity.
00:50He's passing riders in bunches.
00:53Heimas going after Vial.
00:54Yeah, Chance knows.
00:55He's got to take a chance to get around Tom Vial at this moment
00:59because you don't want the Hayden Deegan to try to run away.
01:01And Hayden looks really comfortable in this racetrack.
01:03So does Chance.
01:04But Hayden's got that confidence.
01:06His second moto, this is where he shines.
01:08Let's see what Chance has got today to bring the heat.
01:11And for Vial has been subpar off the podium the last couple of motos.
01:15It's his chance to make up for it with a good start.
01:19Yeah, as you mentioned earlier, we kind of looked at him as a title threat.
01:22So we're starting to overlook him.
01:24And that's right.
01:25No disrespect to Tom Vial, but it's not been the year he won it.
01:28So let's see if he can rebound.
01:30A start is going to help him.
01:31This is close.
01:32He's been to Hayden for a while.
01:34But he's got his hands full with the number 10.
01:36Look at that move right there, baby.
01:38That was a nice pass.
01:39Roll speed all day long.
01:40Chance Heimas.
01:41Keys to the moto there.
01:43Haymes up to second.
01:44It's the battle we anticipated at the beginning of the day.
01:47Deegan versus Haymes.
01:48They're 1-2 on lap one.
01:50Yeah, let's see how this thing plays out.
01:52You know, and I think now Hayden, look back, see the motivation from Chance Haymes.
01:56And I think you're going to see the best of Hayden Deegan.
01:59Chance Haymes is going to have to be the best version of himself to keep him in there.
02:02I think we've got to raise folks if they can keep it going.
02:07Ooh, they threw a little bit of water on that.
02:09Chance slid out.
02:11Casey Cochran making moves here.
02:13The rock star, Gas Gas.
02:15He is now up to fourth ahead of Shimoda.
02:18And I'm not sure what happened.
02:20Kitchen was the rider on the move at first.
02:22No longer in this group.
02:24Yeah, something must have happened.
02:26I don't know if he had a little bit of help by somebody.
02:28But, yeah, nice to see Casey.
02:29He's been riding good all year long.
02:31We've been mentioning his name pretty much every moto.
02:33So good to see him back up front.
02:35Joe Shimoda had those four second place, four motos in a row.
02:39So let's see if he can get back up.
02:41as well to get back on that podium.
02:42Oh, Julian Bomair.
02:45That is a couple of motos in a row now that we've seen him hit the ground.
02:50Yeah, when you saw Chance Hyman come around that corner and lose it, as I said, that was
02:54a nice save by him.
02:56I believe Julian probably did the same thing.
02:58And we have the crash.
03:02Whoa.
03:03Yeah, we caught the end of it, JT.
03:06Yeah, it's exactly the same thing, Chance Hyman.
03:08Levi Kitchen almost did the same thing, and Bomair was the one that actually went down.
03:12They watered the face of that jump, and you could see that scoop tire, the rear tire, step out.
03:16There's just literally no traction.
03:18That tire does not have much edge grip.
03:20He spun out, and he just high-sided right over the top.
03:23And then in the replay, you saw what happened to Kitchen.
03:26Ran into the rear wheel of Cochran, so that's why he lost so much ground.
03:30Cochran looking to do damage of a different kind right now as he's battling Shimoda.
03:34Yeah, well, Joe's been riding really good, so not surprising him able to get around Casey
03:38as Joe now sets his sight on Tom Biao for third place.
03:42But Casey's still doing good.
03:43He needs to just catch that toe, find that flow out there, see if Joe can move his way up,
03:48because clearly he has the speed to build a realm with these guys.
03:52And Thrasher will come through next.
03:53There's Swole, Hamaker, Harrop, Marchbanks in 10th.
03:57There's more on Shimoda.
03:58Katie?
03:59Well, the team was telling me that a second and a second was pretty good,
04:01but a sixth there in Thunder Valley was obviously not what they were hoping for.
04:05It turned out that Joe Shimoda had the speed, and they knew it,
04:08and they knew that they had that confidence.
04:10It was a start that we needed to see out of him.
04:13And, in fact, we saw that in the first moto, Joe making his way back through the pack.
04:18And, right now, Joe being up and forth, the team is saying,
04:20watch out, he's been dangerous right now with that speed level.
04:24Yeah, and Katie, to that end, another bad start of the first moto.
04:27But, boy, did he come through even with a crash?
04:30And a little bit closer to the front early in this one on the Honda HRC progressive machine.
04:35Yeah, now if we drop back in the pack, now we're getting back towards Khalilas'
04:39staffed Hamaker, which was able to get third in the first moto.
04:42So not the best of the stars.
04:43But the only problem for Joe is that I would say the two fastest guys,
04:47maybe or at least same pace, is ahead of him at about four or five seconds.
04:51So he's got a lot of work to do to be able to close that gap.
04:54And as I mentioned earlier, when you look at the lap times in between Hayden Deegan and Chance Hymas,
04:58I felt like Hayden, once he looked back and saw Chance,
05:01he was really going to bring the best version of himself.
05:03And these two are really starting to go at it.
05:05It'll be a great race.
05:06Yeah, we saw them pull huge leads last week.
05:09This battle you're watching is Thrasher up at the top, then Swole, then Hamaker,
05:16and then Harrop there on that 107 as well.
05:19Yeah, if I'm the guys down in Jalik's team, you know, at the Triumph,
05:24I'm pretty happy with him because just him coming back up and him knowing him being hurt,
05:28still a great ride for number 22 Chad Reade.
05:31I mean, Jalik Swole here.
05:34Jalik coming back from an Achilles injury first race this season.
05:37While this battle rages, let's get an update from Katie on Beaumere.
05:41Yeah, the number 23 of Julian Beaumere.
05:43This is one of those tracks he said he really liked,
05:45and so what happened just in that moto,
05:47he crashed over here actually by the spotters in the pits,
05:51and it turns out something hit his face.
05:53He had blood coming out of his mouth, out of his nose,
05:55and is going to go get himself checked out.
05:57Oh, man, it has come undone for Beaumere.
05:59was very good at the first two rounds of the series.
06:02A little out of laps even at the opener.
06:04Fox Raceway.
06:06Hammaker making moves here.
06:09Yeah, I like to see Seth move up.
06:12He's got a charge on his heel and having a hurt shoulder.
06:14That's pretty impressive to be able to do that.
06:16And, yeah, it's easy for these guys to make those mistakes early in the race,
06:19and you will wonder, like, well, they just had a parade lap.
06:21But the thing is, once that gate drops, you forget about all that.
06:25And JT's, you know, halftime report talking about roots.
06:28These guys, again, roosted.
06:29They started turning to hit, and it's easy how shiny that part is
06:32where actually Julian crashed.
06:34It's easy for that to happen, and it's a high-speed section,
06:37so bummer for him, but nice to see him ride off the track.
06:40This is March Banks and Kitchen, 9th and 10th.
06:43So, unfortunately, it ends up being the same story.
06:45These two have speed, but they had to do it from the back of the top 10.
06:49Kitchen got around fourth or fifth there in the first lap
06:53until he bumped Cochran, so it looked like he had a bad start.
06:57The start wasn't actually as bad as it appears.
07:00It's a good fight between the teammates, though.
07:02Yeah, they're all there.
07:03They're teammate on teammate crime right here,
07:05and I love Garrett Marshbanks' riding style.
07:08We talked about this in Race Day Live, just the way he rides a motorcycle.
07:11He looks like a hula-hoo dancer.
07:12A hula-dancer, the way his body moves, his head stays straight,
07:15so if he can continue this thing going, just got to get better starts
07:19as Levi makes the pass on Nate Thrasher.
07:23Yeah, same story for Thrasher in both motos.
07:26Good start and then starting to drift back, but he's in rebuild mode.
07:3018th was his season-best moto finish before today for Thrasher.
07:37Now it's Swole, under pressure from Kitchen.
07:41Yeah, it was two laps in a row.
07:42It looked like Jalik was overjumping that big Moss Energy triple jump,
07:46but what he's doing, he's actually landing at the bottom of that,
07:49so it's a lot smoother because his bike is rebounding one time
07:52instead of coming up a little bit short,
07:54so it looks like he's overjumping that, but it's working out.
07:58Katie?
07:59Yeah, it's working out for him, and of course, as we've talked all day,
08:01his Achilles injury that he had and how he's back on the bike a bit earlier.
08:05Well, he told me that he texted Eli Tomac after his injury
08:08to kind of get some insights from him about the injury itself,
08:12the do's, the don'ts, what to do,
08:13and he said he was so surprised that he texted him back.
08:17And I asked, what were some of the specifics?
08:19And he said, really, it was just more encouragement at that point in time
08:22to get back on the bike as you see him go off a little bit there.
08:24Get back on the bike, be positive,
08:27and know that it will come to an end at some point in time.
08:30That's cool.
08:31Yeah, no, that's really cool,
08:32and it just shows you what kind of person Eli is.
08:34I mean, I think being a father kind of helping, helping, you know,
08:38these young kids up, and Jalik's a good guy.
08:40I mean, a lot of guys like him in the pit.
08:42He's hardworking, and any time, any one of these riders,
08:45we all are brotherhood out here,
08:47so we want to look out for each other, so really cool about him.
08:49He needs some advice to be able to keep these teammates behind him as well.
08:52Garrett Marchbank's going out there,
08:54but still, Jalik can come out of here just finishing his race.
08:57It's a good day.
08:58It's a win-win for him.
08:59Yeah, and then he gets to build the weekend off before the next race at Southwick.
09:04Marchbank's looking to march by, but the outside line didn't work.
09:09He's going to try this one.
09:11Running that crowd molding around the outside.
09:14Yeah, that tunnel jump, we've got to pay attention to that,
09:17especially as this race goes on in that 450.
09:19It's getting a gnarly run up in there,
09:20and when these guys using that paddle tire, as JT was mentioning,
09:23you've got to start worrying about some of these guys spinning out,
09:26tough section moving forward as this race goes on.
09:28Yeah, that paddle tire situation,
09:30that primarily designed for the softer terrain.
09:33So, yeah, what happens when you get out of that harder stuff?
09:35Yeah, I mean, essentially, it's like trying to ride with nobby's on a freeway.
09:39You know, the bike's just spinning up, or, you know, roller skating,
09:42and the thing just starts to spin,
09:44and if it's not straight up and down or in some loose stuff,
09:47it just spins out because it's the size difference between the two different nobby's and stuff.
09:54So for these guys, it's one of those things that you probably ride with all week long,
09:57and, like I said, at home, you're focused in it,
10:00and when you're not racing other people, you can go to those outside lines,
10:04but trying to make passes where it's difficult as Garrett makes his way around Jalik.
10:08But, again, we're all dealing with it.
10:11They'll figure it out.
10:11They just got to make sure they don't get caught out in these hard, slippery stuff.
10:14Up front, Deegan has stretched the lead to four seconds over Hymas.
10:20Still Vial in third.
10:22Hamaker and Kitchen.
10:24Hamaker bringing some heat here.
10:25Yeah, no, we saw this in the first moto.
10:27Levi was able to get the best of his teammates,
10:29so Seth is trying to return the favor.
10:32Hometown brings him back.
10:33You know, it feels good here, and I think for him,
10:35just the confidence to be able to roll with, you know, his teammate,
10:39which has got to put him.
10:40And then there's another teammate, Garrett Marshbain, is coming in here.
10:44We've got to excuse us if we're talking about we call the riders wrong names
10:47and stuff because they're all in here.
10:49Just say the whole Pro Circuit team is not here.
10:51Yeah, this is all season.
10:53We've got these two or three rider packs of Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders.
10:59It has happened again, 6th, 7th, and 8th.
11:03Quickly, as Seth was all over Levi, he's got to worry about his other teammate,
11:08Garrett Marshbain, is getting around him.
11:09So this is that section I was saying.
11:11It's starting to get difficult for these guys.
11:14I don't know if Levi was able to actually get over that jump.
11:17Oh, Joe Shimoda has caught Tom Villal for third.
11:20Villal has not had a podium in a moto since moto 2 at the opener at Pala.
11:26And he's barely hanging on to it right now at high point.
11:30Yeah, Joe was trying to get there, but that's another off-camera corner
11:33that eventually was going to run into each other.
11:35So Joe is obviously close that he's got the pace.
11:38He's got to be calm and try to not slow each other down
11:41because I do feel like now that gap in the lead is starting to open it up.
11:45Chance might start racing behind him.
11:47So if Joe can get around Tom Villal, maybe he has a chance to get on the podium
11:50or at least second place, get to his teammate if he doesn't get stalled out too much.
11:54You look at the overall points there on the bottom left.
11:57It's all up for grabs.
11:58There's that third-place spot on the podium.
12:01Villal Kitchen, maybe even Heimaker has a shot at it.
12:05And in the 250 close.
12:06Oh, Joe went down.
12:07Oh, man, that was a tough one.
12:09And that's where they were trying to get some of that mud off.
12:11And you can see those guys, they fixed that track, but his bike bottoms out
12:16because all the water goes off the racetrack right there.
12:18So it becomes a big pothole.
12:19And Joe lost that rear end, thing kicked down, and then it hooked up,
12:22and he went down.
12:23So good to see him back up, but that could have been a lot worse than what it was.
12:28Now, how hard is it to get back in that rhythm, that race pace,
12:31and all that stuff when an event like that happens?
12:34I mean, it's really hard, especially when you're Joe.
12:36You know, you're looking at, I'm on the podium,
12:38and I'm having last weekend, not the best one, trying to return back.
12:42Even the first motor, not the best one.
12:43So it's going to be harder for him because he belongs up front where he feels like it.
12:48So easy to make that mistake, and easy to make another mistake,
12:51as Seth Handmaker did that a few weeks ago.
12:54So he just needs to keep his composure, do what he did that first motor, regroup.
12:57If he makes it this lap, then I don't think he'll start charging his way back up front,
13:01but it's easy to go a little erratic afterwards.
13:04Right in front of him, Ryder DeFrancisco,
13:06who had a rough goal in the first motor,
13:10battling just to even be top 20 this time around.
13:14He is in ninth, and Shimoda, tenth.
13:17Yeah, you saw Joe duck his head right there.
13:19That's the roost is really bad in that mechanics area.
13:23It's one of the areas on the track where that clay gets packed in,
13:27and it's like getting shot with a BB gun the whole time.
13:29So I see Joe shaking his head, or ducking his head, excuse me.
13:33And then Dylan Schwartz behind them.
13:36This is right where you normally find Schwartz,
13:38right around that 9, 10, 11 spot.
13:41Further up ahead is Kitchen,
13:43who has dealt with his teammate Handmaker,
13:45who might have a Kitchen and Marchbanks battle now.
13:48Nah, Garrett got around both those guys.
13:50Oh, yeah, he's pulling away.
13:51Yeah, he's got in front of him.
13:52He's trying to go out to Casey Cochran.
13:55So nice move by Garrett getting around both his teammates who were moving four.
14:01I'll tell you what,
14:02Marchbanks only has a one-year deal with Pro Circuit.
14:06His deal's up at the end of this season,
14:08so he is showing either that team,
14:11hey, you want to bring me back,
14:11or other teams might want to add a spot
14:14because he's been riding so well to start the year.
14:17Marchbanks third in points coming into this race.
14:20And with that pass,
14:22Kitchen has actually been bumped back off the podium.
14:24It would still be VL third overall.
14:28Yeah, I mean, there's a lot of racing left,
14:31and for sure, that's the best way to get a ride.
14:34You know how Mitch Payton, he's all about results.
14:36You don't care about the name.
14:37If you're out here putting in effort,
14:39really his number one goal is just continue to put in effort,
14:42and Garrett's been showing that.
14:43All these guys have been for his racing team,
14:45but if you can have the best results out of all your teammates,
14:47then move on out of the way.
14:50This is my spot.
14:52I'm talking about those starts at Marchbanks.
14:54Seven out of the eight motos this season,
14:56he has started outside the top ten on lap one
15:01and working his way forward again.
15:04He's at fifth.
15:05Casey Cochran, this is not a fluke.
15:09He's still riding well in fourth.
15:10Seen this the last couple weeks.
15:12As for Marchbanks with those starts,
15:13we asked him for a progress report yesterday.
15:18We've been working on clutch stuff.
15:19Just we're trying a little bit of everything
15:21to try to help get me off the gate a little better.
15:24I can't really blame a lot on my weight.
15:26You know, there's been some heavy guys
15:27that have gotten good starts.
15:28But, yeah, I mean, a lot of people told me to lose some weight.
15:32But for me, I'm honestly not even that heavy.
15:34And also, like we've noticed through the years,
15:38like the more I've cut weight,
15:40the less I can really push through my moto.
15:42So I'm kind of in a good stage of where I want to be.
15:45So now I think for me it's just, you know,
15:48executing the starts and being more consistent
15:49so I'm not coming from the 15th, 20th every moto.
15:52Well, a little better than that this time,
15:55but still not great.
15:57This is great, though.
15:57Pass made.
15:59Marchbanks up to fourth.
16:00Yeah, you're talking about founding a rhythm.
16:02I think Garrett's got that rhythm.
16:03And, you know, tell him, Garrett, look at me, you lose weight.
16:06No, you lose weight, you know.
16:08So, you know, as riders know.
16:10And I think the biggest thing
16:11when you're a little bit bigger or taller rider like Garrett,
16:13the one thing that helps you off the star
16:15is being of having a good reaction time.
16:17I think if you're a little bit bigger,
16:19you don't have a good reaction time,
16:20you don't have that.
16:21You can't rely on the bike's power
16:23because maybe you are a little bit heavier.
16:25So I don't think he's clearly,
16:27if he got good reaction time, he can hole shot it.
16:29So I don't think it's a power thing.
16:31I think he just has to be better on that part
16:33and, you know, help him out.
16:36Halfway through this moto, a reminder,
16:38Monster Energy available at BFS Foods.
16:41Man, Joe Shimoda, he's been fighting all day long.
16:45Both motos, Crash Shimoda 1, Crash Shimoda 2,
16:48caught back up to Swole now.
16:49Yeah, if we had the RC Hard Charger Award,
16:52it might go to him or Garrett.
16:55Austin Fortner out.
16:57Yeah, so it's Swole and Handmaker just ahead of Shimoda.
17:01So the race has come back to Handmaker.
17:03Maybe that shoulder getting to him.
17:05Yeah, not surprising.
17:06And he's been off the bike.
17:07He missed last weekend.
17:08So, you know,
17:09these guys are going to have to deal with that race pace.
17:12But still, with Jalik right here,
17:14still having a good thing.
17:15I mean, even same thing with Seth Handmaker.
17:17It's been a good day.
17:18So continue that going, JT.
17:20Yeah, James, you're so right on that for Swole.
17:22You're riding, what, two and a half weeks?
17:25And to come out here and be, like,
17:26this is one of the best pro motocross rides
17:29that Triumph has had, period, in 2025.
17:32And this is right out of the gate.
17:33So if this is where he's starting from, just the base,
17:38imagine where he's going to be,
17:39getting him two weeks under his belt.
17:40So just a wildly impressive comeback here from Swole.
17:44Yeah, no, I completely agree.
17:45I mean, and he's still fighting.
17:47I mean, he sees Seth right there,
17:48who almost won our Supercross championship,
17:51you know, at the East Coast.
17:52So for him, this is a big confidence builder.
17:55And if he starts fading at this moment, it's expected.
17:58You hear all the riders talk about
18:00how difficult this racetrack is.
18:01So it's no slouch.
18:02Jalik's doing a great job out there.
18:04And I love the fight from the kid.
18:05Still out here trying to do his thing.
18:08Shimoda able to make it happen, though, against Swole.
18:10Again, coming back from the Achilles injury.
18:13So reset the order.
18:14Deegan has opened the gap to six seconds over Hymas.
18:18Villal still third.
18:19Marchbank's a long way to go.
18:20Let's see if he can run Villal down,
18:22make a bid for the podium.
18:23Cochran fifth, Kitchen sixth.
18:26Then this battle.
18:27Hamaker, Swole, Shimoda.
18:29Shimoda looking for that seventh.
18:32It's around the outside.
18:34Yeah, Joe should have to pass cover right here.
18:36He'll be on the inside.
18:37And good ride for him, man.
18:39It's going to be a frustration day,
18:41kind of like we mentioned.
18:42If Eli in that first moto, like, man,
18:44as good as you're riding,
18:45your finishes don't show that.
18:47And so for him, he's going to be frustrated.
18:49But nonetheless, he continues to fight.
18:51How about Swole? Look at this.
18:52Yeah, Jaleek, I'm going to swell up on you over here.
18:54So, yeah.
18:56That's what I love about him.
18:58And as JT mentioned,
18:59to come back, even with the fitness,
19:01you know, into the second moto, tough.
19:05You know, doing really good.
19:07Oh, yeah.
19:08This guy doing really well.
19:10That's Hayden Deegan.
19:11A reminder, you can get a behind-the-scenes look
19:13at this Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing squad each week.
19:18Check out Beyond the Gate.
19:19Go to at Yamaha Motor USA.
19:23And they cover the team both at the races
19:24and at the facility in Florida during the week.
19:28Of course, the Deegans have a pretty successful YouTube channel
19:31and show of their own that you may have heard of.
19:34So, check out the Deegans as well
19:36for their recap every week.
19:37But Hayden, the reset he needed.
19:39Looking for the 1-1 today
19:41as this battle continues to rage in the bottom box.
19:44I think that's Cochran against Kitchen for fifth.
19:49Yeah, I mean, again, good route by Casey.
19:51And Levi's coming up after that first lap mistake on there.
19:55Nice pass, Levi.
19:57Get him up there, shut the door,
19:58make Casey have to make a decision
19:59on whether he wanted to go for it or not, and he didn't.
20:02But, yeah, back to Hayden, as you were talking about,
20:05you know, that YouTube channel.
20:06I'm sure he's going to let you know.
20:07This was a flex move today.
20:10I mean, one of those moves,
20:11especially the second moto, how good Chance has been.
20:13Chance is still there,
20:15but you know Hayden came out this second moto.
20:17Once he saw Chance in second, he wanted to flex on him.
20:21And so far, he's done that.
20:22And if he's able to, he'll back up
20:24what Chance did last weekend.
20:26We're having a perfect day.
20:27Fastest qualifier, Moto 1 winner,
20:29if he can cap off this with Moto 2,
20:32he'll go 1-1 all through today.
20:35Yeah, 1-1 responding with a 1-1.
20:38Now, that bottom box, that pass by Kitchen,
20:41I think it's going to put him back on the overall podium.
20:44It's just like last week.
20:47At one point, Vial had it last week.
20:49Shimoda, Kitchen was able to rally late
20:51and get that third overall.
20:52He might have just done the same thing again.
20:55You look at the overall points.
20:56Yes, he has vaulted to third.
20:57And the reason that matters so much,
21:00250 class, those podium bonuses,
21:01I'm going to say it's 10 to 20 grand for a third,
21:03usually from a factory team.
21:06But they usually don't pay for a fourth.
21:08So it's like going out and buying,
21:10well, I would like to say a new car.
21:12He's got a little more expensive,
21:13maybe a nice used one just for a third place today.
21:16That's why they fight so hard for those podium spots.
21:18Yeah, these days, it's expensive a car.
21:20You're talking about buying some just tires,
21:22some tires for the car,
21:23maybe get some window tint,
21:25maybe a little extra for a foot rug or something.
21:29Well, if you're digging, though,
21:30and you're winning races, not just podiums and titles,
21:33he's gone out and buying the fancy stuff.
21:35But the Audi last year
21:36went straight to the Lambo dealership in Supercross.
21:39Yeah, we remember him buying that.
21:41The mama took his keys after that one moto,
21:43and he came back and dominated to get those keys back.
21:46So, yeah, no stranger to, you know, to find things in life.
21:50And, I mean, why wouldn't you?
21:51These kids, can you say about it?
21:53We talk about Jet Lawrence a lot in the 450 class,
21:56but you're watching another superstar, you know, in the making.
22:00And, you know, if he moves up next year,
22:02I feel like he does have the right attitude
22:04to really compete in that 450 class.
22:06And, you know, somebody who was also talking about his size,
22:09because, you know, these kids grow.
22:11You adapt to whatever situation you put in.
22:13And if Hayden Deacon's put on a 450,
22:15he's going to adapt to it.
22:17Can't wait to watch it.
22:19I can think of some shorter guys who did all right on 450s.
22:23I don't know who you're talking about.
22:24Yeah.
22:24I don't know who you're talking about.
22:25One guy named Ricky.
22:26There was another guy named Ryan Filippoto.
22:27He was pretty darn sporty.
22:29Yeah, Ricky Johnson, he was good.
22:30Yeah, he was, you know, all the time.
22:32He was tall.
22:33He was tall.
22:33Dang it.
22:35But, you know, you do start rubbing the hands together
22:37thinking about this record
22:39as Deacon continues to win.
22:41Jet Lawrence is the first Moto today.
22:42We'll see how he does later.
22:44But the plot thickens when you think of those two
22:47potentially on the gate together
22:48with the rest of that 450 field next year.
22:51And Joe Shimoda just continuing to make passes.
22:54He's right there with Cochran now.
22:55Yeah, if he can get around Casey.
22:57And if you look up,
22:58that's Levi Kitchen right in front of him.
22:59And I do believe he makes that pass.
23:01It changes the podium again.
23:03Maybe throws Tom Bial back on there.
23:04Or brings Joe Shimoda up on the podium.
23:08So who knows?
23:09These passes, they mean something.
23:10And the way Joe is rolling,
23:12he probably wants to return the favor
23:13because last week in the second moto,
23:15Levi was able to get him at the end
23:17and, you know, switch that up.
23:19So look at these lap times last time around, James.
23:22Shimoda, three seconds quicker than Kitchen.
23:24He might just pass him straight out.
23:26No, I think so.
23:27And Levi probably doesn't even know he's there.
23:29That's the cool part.
23:30Once you're in a role like this,
23:32he can probably get him and surprise him.
23:34Levi will wake up.
23:36What do they say down there in the pits, Katie?
23:39Stu, you're saying he may not know,
23:40but he will very soon as he passes his team here.
23:43The pit board says you need to go.
23:45Number 30 is coming.
23:46So he's getting the warning.
23:48Oh, man, I can tell you as a rider,
23:49that is the worst thing you could put on a pit board.
23:52Somebody's coming.
23:53You're like, I know he's coming.
23:55I can't do anything about it.
23:56I used to get RC's coming.
23:58I wanted to kick the pit board out of the hand.
23:59Like, don't tell me something I don't know.
24:02Yeah.
24:03And I told you that Ricky guy was good.
24:04Here comes Shmoda up the inside.
24:07Makes the pass.
24:08Nice move by Joe.
24:10You saw how he launched out on that jump
24:11to just get on the inside of him.
24:13Once you get beside Levi,
24:14Levi was obviously going to try to cut it down,
24:16but Joe played that smart.
24:19He's not coming.
24:20He's gone at this point.
24:22Nice ride by Joe.
24:23And through that, believe it or not,
24:25the beneficiary is the owl,
24:28who is back to the overall podium.
24:30Now that Kitchen lost a point.
24:3630 is rolling, though, right now, JT.
24:38It is definitely rolling, Legion.
24:40That's exactly where I wanted to go.
24:41He's turning the fastest lap times on the racetrack.
24:44He was a 2-10-1.
24:45He's faster than even Hayden Deegan out front at a 2-10-8.
24:48So you could question how high Hayden Deegan's effort level is,
24:52but more to the point,
24:53Joe Shmoda's on a leading this race pace.
24:55He just starts, guys.
24:57Whether it's Chance Himes, whether it's Joe Shmoda, Levi Kitchen,
24:59the list goes on.
25:00That first lap positioning is everything for these guys right now.
25:05Yeah, and today, Deegan didn't have to dig too deep
25:08to make some passes like he has had to do
25:11in other motos this year or this race last year.
25:13He had the track position both times.
25:15Yeah, and it really wouldn't even necessarily start for Joe.
25:18He went down early in the race, so big high side.
25:21But, yeah, it ain't your average Joe today.
25:23It's Joe time.
25:24He's moving up and might be the farthest he can get.
25:26March Baines is about eight seconds in front of him,
25:28but the way Joe is rolling, he might have a shot at him.
25:32Time clicking away for Deegan.
25:34Four and a half minutes and two laps left,
25:37and he's deep into lap traffic.
25:39They're going to say five laps.
25:41That's the side from the mechanic, Brett Duffy.
25:44Okay.
25:45I think this answer is probably pretty obvious,
25:47but what does this mean for Deegan to go and hang a 1-1 on Hymas?
25:51It means, I mean, for Hayden in the championship, not much.
25:54I mean, because Chance was a little far back,
25:56but, you know, just confidence-wise,
25:58you start to wonder when we heard Chance come on the show
26:02in the first moto before we got started talking about confidence
26:04and trying to find it, well, this answers that for him as far as, like,
26:10hey, Deegan shuts that part down.
26:11You know, hey, kid, you were good last weekend,
26:13but that was last weekend on the track where I had bike problems
26:16and I went down to second moto.
26:17We come back to the real outdoor on the east coast.
26:20You start a second.
26:21You were fast.
26:22And I pulled the gap and kind of made it look pretty easy.
26:25So, you know, championship-wise, it ain't doing much,
26:28but just mentally stopping that belief that Chance might have had was gaining.
26:33Definitely closed that door for at least this weekend.
26:35Gap up to nearly 9 seconds between Deegan and Hymas right now.
26:40Hymas will be second overall today if it ends like this.
26:44and we'll send it back to JT.
26:46Well, with Hayden Deegan, I'm really curious to see what his demeanor
26:50and what his comments are on the podium.
26:51Remember last year at this race, he even said something like,
26:55you know, I had to show Chance, but he doesn't have a chance.
26:57And he was all business this morning.
26:59There was no nonsense after time qualifying.
27:02Seemed a little bit looser after moto.
27:04One, I just want to see if we're back to the Hayden Deegan
27:07that is not scared to talk smack
27:09because he doesn't feel like anybody can do anything about it.
27:12Yeah, and I think maybe one of the reasons
27:14why he doesn't say it because he understands it.
27:17And again, I don't think Hayden disrespecting any of these riders.
27:21You know, his comments not meant as a disrespect.
27:24It's more meant as, you know, hey, his confidence.
27:27And maybe he doesn't say that much about Chance
27:28because he knows how good Chance is.
27:30And so back it up.
27:31But I'm sure a cooking comment might come in there as well too.
27:34Oh, yeah, they'll exchange that one.
27:36Don't miss that.
27:37Also, don't miss your chance to win exclusive
27:39Super Motocross World Championship merchandise.
27:42Scan the QR code on the screen right now
27:46to become an SMX Insider today.
27:48And then you can enter for a chance to win exclusive
27:51SMX World Championship gear signed by the top riders.
27:55Battle's still going.
28:00This is Thrasher and Handmaker.
28:02So these are two riders who have a little momentum today.
28:05Okay, the finish here outside the top 10, not what they wanted,
28:08but it's been an awful start to the year for Thrasher.
28:10We mentioned 18th, his best so far.
28:13Handmaker coming back, missing a race last weekend with injury.
28:16So they're just bringing it to the line now.
28:18Yeah, good ride.
28:21I mean, Seth coming out with a shoulder injury, it's not surprising.
28:24And then, you know, Nate, same thing.
28:27So these guys are out here.
28:28And again, how deep this field is, you know, I know, Seth,
28:32both of these riders want more, but it's still the top 15.
28:35It's clearly we've seen, if you get a start,
28:38this could be a battle for a top five.
28:39So for these guys, just got to continue to fight.
28:42And I do believe they'll just continue to get building better and better, Katie.
28:46Yeah, I remember number 41, the team was saying that the two goals for Nate Thrasher
28:51out there is that he needs to stay consistent with the whole race.
28:54And he needs to get a blazing lap out of him.
28:57And then they need to string those laps together.
28:59And, of course, they know they can get that fast lap out of him.
29:02They just want to see more and more of it.
29:03So it's kind of like putting the whole puzzle together.
29:06Does that make sense, too?
29:07No, absolutely.
29:08And it's kind of to my point, what I was saying,
29:10just, you know, logging these laps and being up front.
29:13I mean, this guy hasn't been on the podium on the outdoors.
29:16So, you know, when you start looking at over time injuries and all these things,
29:20Nate does have the speed.
29:22Clearly, he knows how to win races.
29:24He's done that in Supercross.
29:25So the only thing he needs to do is just get out here,
29:28just like we're watching Jaleek Swole,
29:29just like we hear Chance Hymas talk about just need that confidence.
29:33Eventually, his riding will be able to do it.
29:35And he'll be able to move forward.
29:36It's like Swole has made the move on Cochran.
29:41I did not have Swole making late race passes at Moto2 on the bingo car.
29:46This guy is coming back from a devastating injury.
29:48He told me yesterday that the speed during the week is there.
29:52Maybe not quite the endurance yet, but he's looking strong right now.
29:55Yeah, no, it's very impressive with Jaleek.
29:58And the way this track is, you know,
29:59I think it would allow him maybe to ride around some of his deficiencies as far as his injuries.
30:04You know, if you're very patient, you can rest on this racetrack like here.
30:08You know, I know it's a super tough section, but he's able to relax by being patient.
30:13He's able to get to that inside.
30:14Nobody's going to pass him.
30:15He's going around the shortest part around the racetrack.
30:18He's sitting down, going up the hill.
30:19So he's doing smart as a racer.
30:21If you're lacking a little bit, just rest up and this track is allowed.
30:25But nonetheless, you know, he's running seventh place.
30:29Solid, solid day outside of Hayden Deegan.
30:31This is a very impressive route for Jaleek to come back from this injury.
30:34And he'd be the top rider on the Triumph team in this moto if it ends like this.
30:40They believe top overall as well.
30:42He'd be looking at a ninth overall.
30:43So welcome back.
30:45And by the way, High Point Swole won this race at this track a couple years ago in its Rockstar Husky days.
30:52That was 2021.
30:54So maybe there's a little thing special for him at this track.
30:58But overall, man, coming back from a torn Achilles, this good, this early.
31:03Yeah, no, for sure.
31:04I mean, nonetheless, no matter where it's at, it's still impressive for him to come out here.
31:08These guys get out here and Jaleek can finish this thing off.
31:11Now there is one of his teammates, the 107, Mikko Harrop, battling it out with Ryder DeFrancisco.
31:18Pass made on the downhill.
31:20Yeah, that was a pretty easy pass by Mikko.
31:23Like, you see Ryder De didn't get that rhythm.
31:26And the way he was in those rollers, he was in that soft spot.
31:29So every time he would gas it, he would just be in the softer part because all the roots he's getting thrown up.
31:33So good pass by him.
31:35These guys are just trying to finish this off.
31:37This track is super difficult for him.
31:39And not just physically, but really just mentally because there's a lot of slippery parts in here.
31:44And it's like, man, you got this deep stuff.
31:46Then you got a hard pack and easy to make mistakes if you're not watching out.
31:50Good to see Harrop, the very friendly Danish rider, spending a summer in the United States.
31:57He'll go back and race MXGP in Europe and around the world next year in their 450 class, what they call MX1.
32:06But Triumph doesn't have a 450 at their racing yet.
32:10The bike is available for sale, but they want one more year of development before they go racing.
32:14We'll see him in the 450 class in Monster Energy.
32:17Supercross on the whole SMX World Championship next year.
32:21Mikkel will go back to Europe, back home, and race it over there.
32:25But in the meantime, he said, hey, why don't you come to America and have fun on the 250 for the summer.
32:30And he's doing quite well.
32:31No, he's doing great.
32:32He's a young rider.
32:33He's only 23 years old.
32:34So, you know, good for him.
32:35And Casey Cochran, if you don't watch out, he's right in front of him.
32:38So he can see him.
32:40And Casey might not even know he's that close as almost loses front end.
32:44Going down the racetrack is difficult.
32:46And when you're in a situation where you're Casey, you start, like, just trying to finish this thing off.
32:50You're where Mikkel is, is, look, I'm moving forward.
32:52And we've seen a lot of opportunities to pass around this racetrack.
32:55So he'd just be there.
32:58And this could be one of those passes right here.
33:01Not close enough.
33:02It's Harrop.
33:04Yeah, thank you.
33:06Casey went in that corner a little bit slower than he was preparing.
33:09It kind of messed him up.
33:10So close that gap back up.
33:14He caught him pretty fast.
33:15So let's see if he can just, you know, find his lines again.
33:17He might have an opportunity to get around Casey.
33:21Two laps to go.
33:22Deegan right now, if it ends this way, would have his largest victory margin of the year.
33:26But see if he cruises through these final laps.
33:30Harrop's not cruising.
33:32Going to try the outside.
33:34Yeah, nice move.
33:36I think he knew he had to pass by Casey's body language going down the hill.
33:41He's like, look, if I just get beside him, I don't think he's going to fight me too hard.
33:44But Casey ain't going to give up either.
33:46He has another opportunity if he can just stay with him.
33:49Only a lap and a half to go.
33:50Cochran missed all of Supercross with a femur injury, broken femur.
33:56That's the thigh bone.
33:57That's a big one.
33:58So that's why maybe the fitness not quite there so far this summer.
34:02But he has had good starts and he has shown speed.
34:06But Harrop able to get the better of him.
34:09That might be the last battle out here.
34:11You can see the overall.
34:12Looks like it's going to shape up Deegan, Hymus, and Vial.
34:16So not an outstanding day for Vial.
34:19But as we mentioned, it hasn't been on the Modo podium since round one.
34:23Same thing with the overall.
34:24So a little bit of a rebuild for Vial.
34:28Yeah, I mean, I think overall just for KTM, I think there's more benefits, you know,
34:31the team, all the hard work it shows them get on the podium.
34:34You know, Tom Vial, the way his season has been going, maybe for him as well,
34:38like he's, you know, happy to be back on there.
34:40But, again, he wants to be closer to Hayden Deegan.
34:42And, you know, as you were talking about these guys in fitness,
34:45the one thing we kind of overlook, especially for guys that's coming off injuries,
34:48that these four weeks have been so difficult for these guys.
34:52You have Paula, which is just a gnarly racetrack in general.
34:54Then you go to one of the hottest races ever in Hangtown.
34:58Then you go to the altitude.
34:59And then you come here, which is another tricky place.
35:01So it's not surprising that maybe their fitness is not all the way there
35:06over the four-week stretch that they've been really working,
35:09putting their bodies through all this.
35:10And if you came off an injury, came off the couch for Paula,
35:13it's not surprising that you might be feeling it a little bit.
35:16These guys are looking forward to the weekend off.
35:19Yes, that's right.
35:20And they better rest up because Southwick looms after that break.
35:24And that's a physically demanding soundtrack as well.
35:27And, you know, Deegan probably be pretty tough there.
35:32Looking to go three out of four and overalls to start 20-25.
35:39Yeah, I like Peyton because even when he on that podium, you know,
35:43you heard him, he was like,
35:45well, if people don't think I can win again, you know,
35:47it was like one loss.
35:48And I remember being young at his age too.
35:50And it's not that he actually believed that people actually thought he can win,
35:54but one person might have said it.
35:56It's just the point that he'll talk himself into it.
35:59I know I talked myself into believing that, that that's a fact,
36:03that, look, I'm motivating myself.
36:05And it just shows you when a guy at this level is as much as Hayden's won
36:09and all the success that his father's had, his sister had,
36:12to have that attitude to keep just grinding,
36:15it really comes from the comments and him really making stories up in his mind
36:20whether he really believes it or not.
36:21He'll make himself believe it.
36:22He comes out and lays the wood to these guys this week.
36:25Yeah, whatever he needed to do, he did it and it worked
36:29because Deegan is looking for the perfect day.
36:32Monster Energy fast qualifier and headed to a 1-1.
36:36Hayden Deegan sweeps high point 20-25.
36:40The Owl, can he bring it home for the podium in the moto and overall?
36:49That's a lap rider that he's dealing with there.
36:51Hymas dug deep in moto one.
36:55No, but Chance went down.
36:56I was looking at the lap times.
36:57Oh, there it is.
36:57I assumed Chance was ahead.
36:59Where is Chance?
36:59Yeah, no, Chance must have went down because I'm looking at lap times.
37:02I'm like, Hayden had 17 seconds, so, oh, bummer.
37:05He came across in third and it's going to cost him the podium.
37:08I believe Kitchen is going to steal the podium
37:12because remember, Hymas' first moto was not great.
37:15What is he doing there?
37:15He's pointing at his knee, man.
37:17Uh-oh.
37:18He heard something.
37:19It looks like he's running straight back to the pit, so,
37:23oh, that's a bummer for Chance.
37:25Oh, no.
37:26First of all, you hope he's okay.
37:28Man, that cost him the podium overall.
37:32It's going to bump Kitchen back up.
37:34He's probably not even aware of that.
37:35That all happened in the last lap, didn't it?
37:38Yeah, yeah.
37:40Man.
37:42Yeah, at a way, he's pointing maybe he caught a run.
37:44I don't want to speculate, but he was sure, uh, man, that sucks for him for sure.
37:50Yeah.
37:52So, Viala inherits second.
37:53That's actually season best in Emoto.
37:56He had a one position, went from dropped him to fourth place on the podium.
38:11Tim Goddard proposed.
38:12He got it back rolling his way.
38:21The alpha of the 250 class once again.
38:25Danger boy.
38:26And Perry, his kitchen, is going to end up on the podium after all.
38:30Uh, what a difference track position makes.
38:38Deegan's all cleaned up.
38:39Kitchen's covered in roost.
38:41Deegan, not even a great jump.
38:43Just a couple of quick passes.
38:45Got out front.
38:46Took care of it from there.
38:47Did it be Alligant second or third?
38:49Second.
38:50Second.
38:52Great.
38:54And now we're getting ready.
