00:00It's time to go. Rebs are up. Gates down.
00:08A long uphill climb begins and it is Hymus.
00:11Now the fast qualifier and the early race leader.
00:14Well, we've seen him being out front the first couple motos and had some issues.
00:18So let's see if he can clean that up.
00:20After the last week and having food poisoning, hopefully he's 100% healed
00:23because he's going to have to beat at number three Hayden Deacon's in third place already.
00:26And the multi-time Supercross and World Motocross champion from France, Tom Bial, on the 16 is second.
00:33So two of Deacon's primary rivals in front of him.
00:36Yeah, and if you go back to last year, Tom had one of his best routes here at this racetrack.
00:40So this track being the way it is with all these ruts, if he can hold Hayden Deacon off, which is saying a lot,
00:46I think he might have a chance to do this because this track is going to set up well for him.
00:49And Deacon also getting some pressure from a Thrasher-Time Masterpool and the 107,
00:56the Danish rider, Mikkel Harrop.
00:58And Harrop's moving up.
01:00Same with the yellow fenders, challenging Deacon on the outside.
01:03Yeah, when they saw what happened in that 450 class, everybody wants an action of the champ.
01:07And Hayden Deacon's in a tough spot because he's got Tom Bial with him,
01:11and he's got this guy trying to get around him.
01:12and they know they've got to make Haywater sunshine early in this race.
01:17Now headed to the other side of Thunder Valley,
01:20and it's usually where the fans come to life on the hillsides.
01:27And a little bit of home cooking for Hymas, the race leader, at least in the feel of it.
01:32Honda actually sent a bike, and he got to go back home to Idaho, where he is from,
01:36to ride familiar terrain, a little bit of elevation there.
01:39Normally he rides in Florida, so he's prepared today.
01:42And looking good as he pulls away, Deacon now challenging the 16 of Bial.
01:47Well, whatever home cooking chance is getting, he needs to eat it all the time
01:50because the boys out here riding, looking good early part in this moto.
01:54And how about Harrop back there at fourth on the Triumph, the English motorcycle,
01:59only the second year that brand has raced in this championship,
02:03and he's running up front.
02:04Now Deacon, power run around the outside for second place.
02:07Yeah, that was a nice line by Hayden.
02:09He actually started losing the front end, but was able to make it work.
02:12They cleaned up the track a little bit, so he was able to stay on the back of the bike,
02:16get that power down on that Yamaha.
02:17We know how soft fast that bike is.
02:22There you see the gap between Hymas and Deacon, and these two are rivals in every sense of the word,
02:27not just on the track, but wars of words off the track.
02:32And they might hook it up here today.
02:34Yeah, as quickly as Chance was able to get away, Hayden reeled that gap in really quick,
02:40so was that about Chance relaxing, or Hayden Deacon just really started pushing the gap,
02:45pushing that pace early in this race?
02:46So Hymas, who has been fast all year, second time in three races, he's had the fast qualifier award.
02:57The problem is, he's not been able to be strong all the way to the end of the motos,
03:02had food poisoning last week, couldn't even compete in the second race of the afternoon in the heat of California.
03:07I checked him with the team, he's feeling much better this time.
03:11Will, what are you hearing?
03:12I was talking to his dad, Chris Hymas, a very important part of his program there for Chance,
03:17asking about last weekend, what the reset's like, and he said,
03:20look, I just pulled him aside and said, let's focus weekend to weekend.
03:24What happened, happened, you can't help it, you got sick,
03:27let's presume that kind of DNF of the season is out of the way, you just got to get the win.
03:32He won his first career moto win here this weekend, so he said, you got that to lean on,
03:37you got good vibes here, just go and get it done.
03:41Well, Will, if it is going to truly be a week-to-week thing,
03:44you could not ask for a better race for Chance, Hymas, to get back to form.
03:48And rounds where you've done well in the past, you know, he got that moto win here last year,
03:52you get off the plane, the air smells a little better, the sun's a little brighter,
03:55a little pep in your step, and that's what we've seen from him so far today.
03:59He's the fastest qualifier, he gets the whole shot, he's leading laps,
04:03and now he just has to finish and reproduce what he did a year ago,
04:07and he looks fantastic so far doing exactly that.
04:11Look at this, thanks JT. James, he's pulling away from Deegan.
04:14Yeah, and that was all set up, that big old sweeper section,
04:17because he was able to hit that tabletop as we were watching the 450 class with Jet Lawrence,
04:22and man, you have to commit, and he committed, and he had so much momentum going around that whole corner,
04:27I think he probably pulled a second on those guys right there.
04:30And back to this battle for fourth, so Harrop on that triumph, running well,
04:34but under pressure now from Ty Masterpool, brought her out of Texas in green,
04:39and he's been fast on this track in the past as well.
04:41Yeah, I was going to say that, you know, Ty Masterpool on the Mitch Payton Kawasaki,
04:45the green bike, number 26, when you think about him,
04:48he feels the same way as Chance when he comes at his racetrack.
04:51He's had some great rides, some great finishes, so just this JT said,
04:54the air smells better, the eggs this morning was great, I'm going to go out here and race,
04:58but he's got to get around the number 107 in front of him on the triumph.
05:04Masterpool was also sick last week, and he said he's not quite 100%,
05:08but he doesn't think it's going to affect him in the races,
05:10because to your point, he feels so good on this track.
05:13He knows this is an opportunity for a great result, and Masterpool needs it.
05:18He had been a privateer racer for years, finally got the call from this high-budget team last year,
05:23and he is trying to show, with the good equipment, what he can do to ride around the 26.
05:28Yeah, it's amazing what a win or good finish is when you show up at the track.
05:32That's an instant antibiotic at that point, so these guys are definitely getting that nice little line right there by Ty Masterpool.
05:41As for Harrop riding well, the Danish rider racing in America for the first time, Will.
05:46That's right, doing all of this for the first time, Jason.
05:48So I was having a chat with him earlier before qualifying today.
05:51He said, what's the big difference here for you riding in the U.S.?
05:54He said, well, first of all, the intensity up front in the early laps.
05:58Well, he's getting that done.
05:59He said, the second thing is, we don't get any time on these tracks.
06:02He's like, this is my first visit to all of these venues, all of these tracks.
06:06He said, in MXGP back home in Europe, he's like, we have an hour just on a Saturday to try and figure it out, work out the lines.
06:13He's like, here, not so much.
06:14So he is learning every single one of these tracks as he goes through the motocross season this year in 2025 on that feeling right there for Jelly Swole on the triumph, guys.
06:24Thanks, Will.
06:24Was that Deegan as we go back to second place?
06:26Yeah, he was off track, wasn't he?
06:27Yeah, that line, that inside line, the corner before, it looks like he's starting to get a hook on it.
06:32I'm assuming that Hayden probably hooked it and went off.
06:34No harm, no foul.
06:35But, yeah, you know, for these guys that's coming over to Europe, it's hard to learn a track when you got these young kids out here just going wide open, just letting it happen.
06:45So here's where Hayden, starting to close in on Chance Hymus.
06:49This goes in here.
06:50Let's see what happens here.
06:52Oh, nice save.
06:53Front end goes over that berm.
06:55You can see the berm kind of collapsed on him and his front wheel popped out, loses the front wheel.
06:59But nice save by the number one and he's still right there.
07:01Yeah, explain that when you say that berm collapses.
07:04Yeah, so basically the top of the berm, these guys, as you can see these ruts, as these 40 riders come by, it starts falling apart.
07:11So it's like having an ice cream cone and the thing, the head of it falls off.
07:15And that's what happens off the top of these bumps.
07:18His ice cream cone, the ice cream fell off the cone for him.
07:20Yeah, going off the track when you're trying to catch a leader, probably about as big a bummer as losing the top scoop on the ice cream.
07:27So he has to reset and go back after Hymus, who is now two and a half seconds up.
07:31Oh, Tom Vial, the Frenchman from third, a mistake.
07:34And Harrop's going to get him.
07:36Yeah, man, that's not what Tom wanted.
07:37He was just sitting behind Hayden a couple seconds behind him.
07:40So definitely a tough break.
07:42And so far this year has been really tough on the 16.
07:45He came in this after winning the 250 Supercross title in the last race, dramatic fat, you know, dramatically.
07:54Now he comes in his championships expecting to be a championship contender and just having some DNFs and another fall.
07:59So we'll see if Ty Masterpool can try to get around him as well.
08:03And that's another thing Harrop has mentioned, just relentless how deep the field is in this 250 class.
08:08Vial and Orange learning that.
08:10A mistake, Harrop gets him, and Masterpool is right there to attack as well on the 26.
08:15Yeah, when a rider goes down, when you're in Ty Masterpool's position, you want to try to get him while he's getting back up, trying to get his goggles and get his everything back going.
08:25You want to attack him right there because Tom's not that focused on moving forward right now.
08:29He's just remembering what happened.
08:30Great opportunity to get around there as Ty Masterpool tried to get him around.
08:33And he might.
08:35Masterpool will be on the inside for the next turn and makes the pass.
08:39Yeah, that's a good move by him.
08:40He knew he needed to get around him now.
08:43And Masterpool's breakout ride came at this track two years ago.
08:46He's in the big class, the 450s.
08:49Again, was on a low budget, didn't have the private tier team, didn't have the full factory motorcycle.
08:55Went five and four in the two motos.
08:57That really re-announced that he could be a player.
09:00He'd always been fast as an amateur.
09:02Then last year got the upgrade to the factory Kawasaki team here in the 250s.
09:06And he wants that podium fourth right now with Harrop in third.
09:10Yeah, absolutely.
09:11It's good to see Ty back.
09:12And after a couple years of some injuries, you know, you go back even before that.
09:16I mean, this guy was, you know, maybe not as, you know, decorated as Hayden Deegan coming up as amateur,
09:20but he was another kid that was supposed to come up and be a threat for winning his titles.
09:24But injuries and sideline, sideline this path.
09:27And so to have another chance on this pro circuit Kawasaki, it's really cool to see him.
09:31He's making do with it.
09:32And his parents come to the world of alpine skiing and even snowboarding.
09:38His mom, a champion.
09:40His dad, a champion Olympic-level coach.
09:42And they have taught their young athlete, Ty Masterpool.
09:45And maybe no surprise, he excels here at Elevation attacking for third.
09:51Yeah, he's been trying to get around for a couple laps now.
09:55He might have the position.
09:57Almost, James.
09:59Good job by Harrop on the 107 to hold them all.
10:02Yeah, you're probably wondering why did Ty just stay on the gas, but those runs are a lot deeper.
10:06You can't see it from his camera angle, but those runs are really deep for those guys to have hesitation on there.
10:11I like Ty's line again on that inside.
10:14Suggestion lines, right?
10:15Yeah, those track markers, they're flirting with it at least.
10:20And Masterpool not quite able to make the move.
10:25Up front, no change in the gap.
10:28Two and a half second lead.
10:30High mess over Deegan.
10:33Gap just stabilizing it up front.
10:36I think Hayden Deegan, as we've been watching him, he usually gets to the 15-minute mark
10:39and then really starts to put the hammer on, see if that's the same thing that happens today.
10:45Yeah, see the countdown clock top left of the screen of the 30 minutes.
10:48And then it'll be two laps to go when that expires.
10:52But High mess.
10:53Now Deegan can't even see him in some of the longer sections of the track.
10:57Yeah, I wonder did Hayden make a mistake because they're from the lap time.
11:00He's only about two and a half seconds behind Chance High mess, but it's a lot farther now.
11:05So Chance High mess, can he be the one to break Hayden Deegan's win streak?
11:11He's 4-0 this season.
11:13High mess, looking to end that.
11:15Stay with us.
11:26Five seconds.
11:27That is the gap between Hayden and Deegan.
11:301.2ム for the 3rd part.
11:52Have a chance.
11:56Tchau, tchau.
12:26Tchau.
12:56Tchau.
13:26Tchau.
13:56Tchau.
14:26Tchau.
14:28Tchau.
14:30Tchau.
14:32Tchau.
14:34Tchau.

15:19Tchau.
15:20Tchau.
15:21Tchau.
15:22Tchau.
15:23Tchau.
15:24Tchau.
15:52porque o Herop-Mozeman-Vial
15:55não queriam ele off o hook.
16:13para tentar holde esses guys
16:14as esse race vai continuar
16:17porque eles têm o rabo em frente.
16:19E o jogador que está fazendo o chasse
16:21é Michael Mozeman.
16:23Ele foi o primeiro dia em Northern California.
16:26Ele chegou a 4º.
16:54E outro rata no move.
16:54O green é Garret Marchbanks.
16:56Man, ele não está conseguindo a start.
16:58Mas, ele não tem a start.
16:58Mas, mas, ele pode push
16:59late em cima do MOTO.
17:00Ele está desafiando o O.
17:02I feel like when you're in a position where Garrett, you're not usually getting the stars.
17:06Once you get that momentum, that ball rolling, you get passing, you start just getting that confidence.
17:11And when you catch these guys, you just wonder, you're like, why are you in my way?
17:14So Garrett might be able to get around these two and his teammates right in front of him.
17:18Still not too far ahead. Maybe he can get on that third place.
17:22March Banks veteran out of Utah. Well, look, they've closed right to Moseman.
17:27Moseman in the blue gear, three-rider fight for fourth.
17:30Yeah, Moseman comes up short. Something's going on with him.
17:36Yeah, a couple of mistakes, didn't clear the jump.
17:38Vial and March Banks and Moore are going by. Not sure what happened to Moseman.
17:43Meanwhile, March Banks not asking questions. He's just making passes. He's around Vial.
17:48He's like, thanks. I don't know what's going on, Michael, but I saw the special over there.
17:51It's the Pogo special. I'm getting two for one right here.
17:54Got both of them. He's to see his teammate a few seconds in front of him. Let's see if I can track him down.
18:00So how about this? March Banks up to fourth, Will.
18:03It's been such an impressive start to the season. His best start on a 250 so far, Jason.
18:09And talking to him earlier, I got to speak to Brock Tickle, who's a new trainer since about middle to end of February of this year as well.
18:17And the two of them just seem to be making an incredible team.
18:21I asked Garrett, you know, what was the secret sauce at the start of this season?
18:24And he just pointed it over to Brock.
18:26And then Brock said, I'm just working with him to be the best version of himself.
18:30I'm not trying to get him to be this guy. I'm not trying to get him to be that guy.
18:33I'm just looking at what he's doing.
18:34And Garrett said, yeah, it's true.
18:36All these things have kind of taken me by surprise.
18:38Things that I didn't know I had room for improvement on.
18:40I'm finding out that I am.
18:41The more we see the results coming, the more that gives me confidence.
18:44And the two are just, yeah, marching forward here.
18:47And just a great start to the Monaco season.
18:49Yeah, thanks, Will.
18:50And Brock Tickle, a former racer, used to race for this team.
18:53Won a Supercross title with him.
18:54So, obviously, his racing experience is working to help Marchbanks.
19:00And working his way forward is Deegan.
19:03Ten minutes and two laps to go.
19:06And he is catching the leader.
19:09So, the check-in with the riders.
19:10We're in the fly racing gear.
19:11And that includes the race leader, Hymas.
19:14Dylan Schwartz running well in eighth on the Toyota Redlands, the Bar X Yamaha.
19:20Ryder DeFrancisco is 16th.
19:22Casey Cochran, Parker Ross also in the field.
19:25Deegan making a charge here for the lead, Will.
19:29And, James, I'd like to know what your take on this is.
19:31During the break there, I had a quick chat with his dad, Brian Deegan.
19:34He said, look, what are you seeing about where Hayden is right now?
19:37And he said, he's just pushing too hard.
19:39So, this track doesn't really allow.
19:40He's asking too much out of the bike.
19:42Oh, as he makes a mistake there.
19:44He said, he's asking too much out of the bike.
19:45That's where these mistakes are coming from.
19:48He said, he has the fitness.
19:49So, let Hymas come back to him.
19:51And he said, basically, he's got to take it down a notch.
19:54I don't know what your thoughts are on that, James.
19:56Yeah, I mean, I agree with Brian.
19:57And I think what Hayden's been able to do all year so far is when he gets to 15 minutes,
20:03he starts climbing his way up.
20:05So, in theory, you know Chance knows that.
20:07So, at some point, if I'm Hayden Deegan, I feel like these guys are really mental.
20:11Chance is probably going to start thinking about me when that 15-minute mark comes through.
20:16So, Brian is probably telling him, you know, thinking in his head, wants to tell his son,
20:19hey, just be patient, Hayden Deegan, that is.
20:21Be patient because this race is going to come back to you.
20:24And as many as mistakes that we saw Hayden make when we've been watching him,
20:27he's still closing that gap back on Chance Hymas.
20:29And I think that's all set up to how these previous races have been going at that 15-minute mark.
20:34Yeah, James, you mentioned the riders know each other and the confidence that that leads to.
20:39Look, Hymas is way back in the point standings already after the bad race last week when he was ill.
20:43But beyond that, what does this one individual race mean between these two and their rivalry?
20:50Oh, it would be huge for that number 10.
20:53If he's somehow able to hold Hayden Deegan off, then you start bringing Chance back into, you know,
20:58moto wins and race wins.
21:00But if Hayden Deegan is able to just get around him and be able to pull away, then, yeah, Chance rode great.
21:05He's been fast, but he didn't win.
21:07And I think that really – and Hayden knows that.
21:09So I think that's why you're probably starting to see Hayden make these mistakes
21:13because he knows how good Chance Hymas is.
21:15And the last thing you want to do is give a guy who has just as much talent as you any confidence
21:20because we know that's going to be the huge difference for that number 10 on RCH Honda.
21:25All on the line right now.
21:26Bottom box, see the 11 of Levi Kitchen.
21:29He was third in the race in California last weekend, but a bad start.
21:33He's been very fast on this track in the past, but now outside the top 10.
21:37Kitchen is trying to catch Joe Shimoda.
21:40That's Chance Hymas' Honda teammate.
21:42Shimoda has been second in every race this year, and now he's running 10.
21:47Yeah, I've been watching the lap times with Joe Shimoda, and he's been stuck behind that.
21:51A bad start, and we can see how hard it is to pass on his racetrack.
21:54So tough positions, but from Chance Hymas, this mechanic, I want to try to relay to him
22:00that Hayden's making a mistake.
22:02So what you need to do, you're obviously – he's not going to get tired, Hayden, that is.
22:05So if you can keep pushing him and keep that gap, eventually these mistakes that Hayden
22:10making might end up costing him, and Chance is putting him in a position to make those, JT.
22:15Yeah, you know, you can see Hayden's definitely riding the limit here, but for good reason.
22:19I think he knows right now if he can get to the back of Hymas, he can lean on his fitness.
22:24He is proven to be the fittest rider in this class.
22:27If he can up the pressure, you know, I think momentum and sentiment work both directions.
22:31If they can work in a positive way for Deegan to catch up, and if Hymas feels Deegan closing,
22:35they can work negatively for Hymas.
22:37So these laps right here are super critical before we get down to the last two,
22:40or Hymas can go full sprint.
22:42Oh, yeah, it's getting down to clutch time now between Hymas and his rival, Hayden Deegan.
22:47We're going to take one more break and then bring you the finish, live motocross on NBC.
22:52We're going to take one more break and then bring you the finish, live motocross on NBC.
23:17We're going to take one more break.
23:47We're going to take one more break.
24:17We're going to take one more break.
24:47We're going to take one more break.
25:17The fight for the win here, live motocross from Colorado is heating up,
25:36as is the motorcycle of second place, Hayden Deegan.
25:40You might have saw the box on the side of the screen while we're away at break.
25:43Starting to see some steam coming out of the bottom of that blue Yamaha there in second.
25:48But on the other end, Deegan is closing the gap of the leader, Chance Hymas.
25:51Yeah, that bike's overheating because they're at altitude, so the bikes are pulling a lot of horsepowers, working a lot harder than normal at sea level.
25:59And Hayden's working hard trying to get close to Chance Hyman.
26:02So you saw his mechanics, they shift on the downhills.
26:04And what he's trying to do is to get him to shift up so that bike can relax a little bit.
26:09So Hayden's got a good pace.
26:11If he cleans it up, he'll be all right.
26:12But at the same time, Chance has some great lines around this side of the racetrack as well.
26:16And you see, it was that last time around, lap 11, where Deegan took 1.8 seconds out of the gap that Hymas has.
26:23Now, I mentioned at the beginning of this race, the war of words these two have had off the track.
26:29Deegan is not afraid to talk some trash.
26:32He had an Instagram post last year.
26:34He was at a party.
26:35They brought a cake over that said Hymas is cooked.
26:37And then Hymas the next week was the fast qualifier and said, I'm here to cook.
26:42Then he crashed.
26:43And then Deegan won.
26:45He said, I'm just here looking to cook.
26:48These two do not like each other off the track.
26:50Let's make that perfectly clear.
26:51Oh, the mechanic, Brent Duffy, said stay off the clutch, save the bike.
26:55Yeah, no, again, Deegan.
26:57It's for Deegan.
26:58Yeah, you can hear his bike.
26:59It sounds, something's up.
27:02And then Hayden's starting to lay up.
27:07Yeah.
27:10Like losing power or something.
27:12Some double downshift at the top of that hill.
27:16So, James, explain how they use the clutch here.
27:18This is not just like a manual transmission car.
27:19They're using the clutch all the way around the track and why they're going to tell them to not do that as much now.
27:24Yeah, well, his bike was smoking.
27:26And he used the clutch.
27:27I mean, just like anything else, I mean, you can wear a clutch out.
27:30And, you know, if you ever had a stick shift in a car, the thing starts slipping.
27:35You hear the bike, and it really starts putting a lot of torque on the bike, which just has a lot of drag.
27:41And being at altitude with all this dirt, having Deegan wide open, it just makes the bike really hot.
27:47And as these things continue to heat up, things start happening.
27:50And I think that's what you're starting to see with Hayden's bike.
27:52The mechanic saying, get off the clutch.
27:54Let this bike relieve.
27:55She needs a little break, honey.
27:57She needs a little break.
27:59So is Deegan in conservation mode here.
28:01It sure looks that way.
28:02Yeah, absolutely.
28:03I mean, his bike sounds like it's lost some power at this point.
28:07So I don't think he's trying to, at this point, he is trying to save it.
28:11But it doesn't sound right as well.
28:13And the clock there, about two minutes and then two more laps left.
28:17So we're looking at two, three, maybe four laps left.
28:20JT.
28:21Well, just thinking about, you know, what the elevation does to these motorcycles.
28:25They're trying to find every ounce of power these teams are.
28:27And you see him not even jumping the jumps now.
28:29Either he's losing power, he's trying to save it, or both.
28:32But these teams, they'll throw everything at it.
28:35They'll change the fuel maps.
28:36They'll add compression to the engine if they have anything left available.
28:40But a standard engine set of thousands of hours of endurance to know exactly where the pressure points are.
28:45What they don't have is the same amount of research done at elevation with the most extreme engine setup possible.
28:52So that's where a guy like Hayden Deegan, a high-rever who's asking the most possible out of the engine,
28:57that's where you start to run into trouble.
28:59You start to ask questions that they don't have every answer to.
29:02So for Hayden, I think it's just bring it home.
29:04He still has a 45-second gap to Garrett Marchbank.
29:07Look to see another day.
29:09Yeah, that's a great point, JT.
29:11And for the fans out there, I mean, it's kind of like you drive your car and you start shifting.
29:16And if you run that thing at a low gear, eventually you start smelling the engine.
29:21And that's exactly what these bikes are doing.
29:22And Hayden Deegan's really revving this bike up.
29:25And you start smelling that engine.
29:26And that's what he's trying to do to keep this thing alive.
29:29The good news is he's got a giant lead over the third-place rider who's now Garrett Marchbank.
29:34He has climbed from 13th to 3rd.
29:36As for Deegan and this team, you get an inside look behind the scenes at that squad.
29:41Go to the at Yamaha Motor USA YouTube channel beyond the gate.
29:45A really cool story where they even talk to the riders and show you what they do during the week between races.
29:50As for Deegan, look, the wind streak is going to be over here.
29:53But, James, I've got to imagine he's just trying to minimize the damage.
29:56If this bike doesn't get to the finish line, this entire championship will change.
30:00Yeah, I mean, I think he's trying to conserve it.
30:03But, again, it doesn't sound right.
30:05The way he's jumping, you know, as a rider, if you're just trying to conserve it,
30:09he would just put it in taller gear, continue to ride.
30:11But he's riding almost in fear that it's not going to make it.
30:15So this is a little bit different than just conserving it.
30:17As you can see him going up the hill, the bike has no power.
30:20At this point.
30:21These riders he's getting around are lap riders.
30:23He's still firmly in the number two spot.
30:25And when you see Deegan not clearing the big jumps,
30:28every motocross rider's biggest fear is that the engine is going to give out as he's taking off.
30:32So is that Deegan getting worried about that?
30:35Is that a sign that he's afraid that thing could let go?
30:37Oh, absolutely.
30:38A hundred percent.
30:39You'll see these guys, when they start worrying about the bike,
30:41though even if they jump the jump, they'll jump front end high in case the thing does shut off.
30:46At least you want that front end up.
30:48And you can see Hayden Deegan on these bigger jumps.
30:50He's not jumping him.
30:51So to me, that's more of a sign that he's not conservative.
30:54He's more worried about the thing shutting off on him.
30:56And, you know, look, you've got three laps, two laps after this.
30:59Yes, not clearing the jump.
31:02Even the lap riders here are able to make up a little bit of ground.
31:05So he is afraid.
31:06Yeah, if the engine locks up on the takeoff, going over the handlebars,
31:11Harrop, check back in with him.
31:13Great.
31:13At the beginning of the race, he is in sixth.
31:15Drew Adams, a rookie, right behind him in seventh.
31:21Then Tom Vial up ahead in fifth.
31:23Been a great ride, though, for the rider on the triumph, but he's not done.
31:27Yeah, this is a great ride for him.
31:29He's been battling this whole race.
31:30And it's crazy to watch how big a gap these guys get between, you know,
31:35where Hayden Deegan, I mean, they're almost a minute ahead.
31:37Chance Heimus is 52 seconds ahead of third place.
31:40You know, when you look at the lap times, yeah, they're going pretty quickly.
31:43But I just think that track position off the beginning part of the race,
31:47that start is super important as we're watching Levi Kitchen and Joe Shimoda
31:51making his way up for eighth and ninth.
31:56Yeah, these are two of the frontrunners on the podium last week.
31:59Kitchen on the green, 47 to 30 of Shimoda, a Honda racer out of Japan.
32:04Top three last week.
32:05That starts this week.
32:07They're eighth and ninth.
32:08Shimoda on the 30.
32:10Can he make up ground?
32:12With two laps to go.
32:15Yeah, maybe he's able to get around Levi.
32:18It's going to be pretty hard to catch about 10 seconds down on Drew Adams.
32:23Great ride for the rookie as well, seventh place.
32:25Yeah, Adams is seventh, a youngster out of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
32:31Meanwhile, these two teammates, Masterpole and Marchbanks,
32:34have been battling the entire race.
32:36Marchbanks was able to get him for third,
32:38but Masterpole not giving up.
32:40He wants that podium.
32:42Yeah, there's something about when your teammate comes around.
32:45You always find some energy to fight him.
32:47I always felt like my old teammate, Tim Ferry,
32:49he raced me harder than anybody else in the racetrack.
32:52Hold up, red dog.
32:54So, you know, Tom Masterpole definitely wants to go back out there.
32:57Garrett over here, be the top pro circuit.
33:01And the key to motocross is everyone races twice in a day.
33:03These 250 riders will return in an hour for their second race,
33:07and you combine the two results together.
33:09So they all know to finish third in the first moto
33:11and then win the second one.
33:13You might have a chance to be the day's overall winner.
33:15So this is critical right now.
33:17And then we are going to show you the second 450 class race
33:21in a moment when this concludes.
33:23So stay with us for the second 450 race of the day.
33:25They already raced earlier.
33:27It's nonstop action at one of these pro motocross races.
33:30But right now, Garrett Marchbanks out at Utah on the 36th.
33:36Trying to bring it home.
33:37Yeah, and it looks like Drew Adams was able to get around Tom Vial
33:40for fifth place.
33:40So you've got three pro circuit,
33:42Monster Indy pro circuit bikes in the top five right there.
33:45Really good.
33:47Yeah, that is third, fourth, fifth for the teammates.
33:50Obviously got those machines running well at altitude.
33:52Deegan has lost.
33:54It's now a 34-second gap between he and Hymas.
33:58Marchbanks and Masterpool are still pushing.
34:00We know that Deegan is not with the bike problems.
34:03They took a gap that was about 50 seconds down to about 16 now.
34:08Yeah, they're coming.
34:11I mean, they're getting chunks of time out of them.
34:13It's almost 15 seconds they gained on the last lap.
34:15So do the math, which I'm not that good at it.
34:19They're going to get a little closer to what they are right now.
34:22Let's just say that.
34:23How about Chance Hymas?
34:25A week ago, food poisoning.
34:27He threw up after the first moto where he was leading and then finished 13th.
34:32Didn't even race moto two.
34:33What a recovery as he's into the last lap to try to win here in Colorado.
34:39Yeah, I mean, I'm really impressed with Chance because this race could have got away from him.
34:43And, yeah, you could sit here and say, Hayden Deegan has some bike problems.
34:46But if I'm Chance Hymas, I'm like, I'll put him in that position to heat that bike up.
34:50Try to run with old Chance.
34:51This is a chance we're going to take.
34:53Bike might not make it.
34:54So hopefully this is just a start of many more wins.
34:58The championship is going to be a long shot unless we get some help.
35:02But, man, love this kid and what he's doing.
35:05And he had to watch his teammate, Jett Lawrence, go out.
35:07Showed him in a wave.
35:09Yep, his teammate Jett Lawrence will be back in a moment for a 450 moto two,
35:12which will come up right after this.
35:14But it's looking good for the Honda team right now.
35:16Two races in the books today, and it looks like they might have two wins.
35:19Young rider out of Idaho, 20 years old.
35:23And, again, they let him go back to his home in Idaho this week to ride dirt and elevation a little more like this.
35:29Actually gave his dad the bike last week in California at the race.
35:33He drove it back home.
35:35Chance met him there.
35:36And a good chance to reconnect with the roots.
35:38And clearly that has paid off.
35:40Yeah, something about them Idaho potatoes.
35:42Maybe make them home fed.
35:45Can I say he's cooking?
35:46He's cooking.
35:47He's cooking right now.
35:48Cooking.
35:49So the win streak for Hayden Deegan will end.
35:51And the gap is down to just a few seconds between Deegan and the charging Kawasaki duo of March Banks
35:59and Masterpool, and he might not be able to fend them off with an ill motorcycle.
36:04And that could leave the door open for the days overall for Hayden.
36:09Because they will be back in an hour for Moto2.
36:12Hayden won his first career Moto at this track a year ago.
36:16He's going to win again.
36:18Chance Hayden takes the first Moto.
36:21And here is that battle.
36:22Deegan.
36:24Does he have enough left?
36:27Yeah, he's right there, Garrett.
36:30It's going to be close.
36:33Hayden obviously picked up the pace because they've been by three seconds.
36:36You've got to wonder.
36:38Yeah, Deegan in the mint green jersey.
36:40March Banks on the green motorcycle.
36:42Yeah, March 36.
36:44Garrett might not even believe that does Hayden.
36:46He's probably thinking, well, no, that can't be him.
36:48Yeah, how do I think of 45 seconds in two laps?
36:55He's trying to listen.
36:57Can he nurse at home?
37:00Last turn.
37:02Salvage job.
37:04Hayden Deegan second.
37:06March Banks third.
37:07Yeah, good route by Hayden.
37:08You can see Garrett came across.
37:10He was upset.
37:10I don't think he believed what he was believing.
37:16And Heimats already in rest mode and recovery for his second race coming up later.
37:21You can watch that live on Peacock.
37:24It's crazy what a week does in professional sports and motocross.
37:29I mean, this guy was.
