00:29I just talked about, I got the speed, he should have the inside here,
00:33if he's able to get the bike on the ground, now Jett Lawrence got back through him, still.
00:38And the 18 controlling it from the front, as he so often does.
00:44Let's think of the third.
00:45Yeah, good to see Aaron up there, he's been fast all year long,
00:49actually one guy who's been able to pass Jett Lawrence as he comes up a little short on his triple,
00:52which makes Justin Cooper comes up short, he's got to gauge in each other,
00:56but if I'm Jett Lawrence, he talked about how he said that this track is familiar to him
01:01and kind of a European-style track.
01:03If he ever built a racetrack, I believe it would be set up just like this.
01:06Very technical, but fast, looks pretty good,
01:09and that's where they don't want to see the 18 out front getting away already.
01:13No, and Tomac had a good start, but has been shuffled back, not sure what happened.
01:18It's about third coming through the all-shot line,
01:20and you don't see him in this battle.
01:21The other Yamaha is actually the two of Webb.
01:24There's Hunter Lawrence right in front of him in that yellow gear.
01:27Yeah, and then he got the defending Supergirl champion Cooper Webb behind him,
01:30which has been good.
01:31Now, Jorge, he was up there, almost had the whole shot, got passed.
01:35Now, I think this is where that confidence comes in.
01:37If he can just get back around Cooper Webb, which he should be pretty familiar with,
01:41seemed like they're racing all year long, which is nice, scrub.
01:43Turn down for what?
01:44There it is.
01:45Send it to him, Jorge, let him know with the silent J.
01:47There it is, just looking for some signs from the 70.
01:52That was something.
01:53That was something.
01:54That was a beautiful thing to watch now.
01:56Uh-oh.
01:57Webb coming right back, though.
01:58Yeah, he's going to learn about everybody else, how dangerous Cooper Webb is.
02:01Can't leave that door open on him.
02:03So, still a good pass for him, and like J.T. mentioned, anything, just confidence.
02:08Got to have some confidence with that Calisaki like he did.
02:13And you mentioned it.
02:14These two have battled at almost every moto this year.
02:17for Webb and Prado.
02:18Katie.
02:19Yeah, it's like we've just seen this all before.
02:21But in talking with the team, the Monster Energy Kawasaki team for the number 70 of Jorge Prado,
02:26they said the challenge right now is they're using these race weekends as basically testing
02:30and getting their best judgment for race setup.
02:33Tuesday, Wednesday, they work on the flaws.
02:35And it's not really any time to really get out and race and confidently knowing with what
02:39the bike is underneath him and what he needs.
02:42And so it's a little bit of getting the song and dance right.
02:45Stu, can you speak to that?
02:46Just like how difficult it is when you're in a new team, new bike, new country, if you
02:50will, trying to make sure your song and dance is right with the team.
02:53Yeah.
02:53I mean, I don't even have any experience with that.
02:56But I know I have one or two of those experiences and just a new team, new bike, how difficult
03:00that is.
03:00So Jorge is doing a good job.
03:02But just continue to be out here.
03:04And as JT mentioned, look, man, you have to go through those pains.
03:08You have to strike out.
03:09You have to keep lining up and going out there trying to take a shot at it.
03:12Because eventually, as you mentioned, you will hit one.
03:15It's just whether you have the endurance mentally to keep sitting up there fighting.
03:19And I do believe Jorge does because he wouldn't be a champion if he didn't.
03:22Just a long road to get there.
03:26Long road even for Jett Lawrence, the leader, because once again, as usual, has not opened
03:32up a big gap.
03:33Still has Cooper, Plessinger, and his brother Hunter right there.
03:38Yeah, it's a weird scenario to be in because Jett Lawrence, how dominant in all these races
03:43he's won, you would just think he could just somehow almost pull his Hayden Deegan hat
03:47off and say, you know what, once I get out front, I'm just going to pull three, four
03:51seconds pretty quickly.
03:52I think it would change the whole landscape of these races.
03:55I think these guys would start battling for second place rather than looking at the 18.
03:59But because he's so smooth and he's just methodically, he'll eventually pull away and
04:03he keeps these guys there, they'll continue racing him thinking that they've got to
04:08a chance until he crosses the checkered flag first, which he does many times.
04:12But I think for us, him being there keeps these guys engaged, and I love what I see
04:17with all of them.
04:18They believe.
04:19Yeah, you said last week the fact that Tomac kept the heat on, it's not just
04:23confidence for Tomac, it's confidence for the other riders as well.
04:26Oh, absolutely.
04:27When Eli Tomac was able to beat Jett Lawrence, which was a shock to a world, at Hangtown,
04:32that first moto, it gave everyone confidence, and I think that's what you're seeing
04:36with Aaron Plessinger.
04:37He's racing, believing that he's going to win, and if you're Aaron, I caught him
04:42last weekend, and I passed him.
04:44Yeah, he got me back, but I feel like I'm here.
04:46If I can get around Justin Cooper, you know I love the ruts, and I might try to do it
04:50right here.
04:50Jett Lawrence ain't going any farther.
04:52I feel like I have a chance, and that's all set up because of what Eli was able to do
04:56a couple weeks ago.
04:57These guys believe.
04:59Yep, and Plessinger was able to beat him in that moto also, and now he might beat
05:02Justin Cooper to the inside, and he does.
05:04Yeah, that's all confidence, and again, he's back in the same spot.
05:07Now, if you're Aaron Plessinger, you're thinking in your head, like, dude, he's
05:10right here.
05:11I've been stuck behind Justin Cooper, and Jett Lawrence is still right in front of
05:15me, so let me see what I can do.
05:17I think this crowd and all of it's going to come to life is somehow number seven
05:20gets around that 18 just to put another battle on our hands.
05:24You heard the air horns for the cowboy when he made that move for second place.
05:31Bottom box, nice cut across line there, although he did flirt with those track
05:37markers.
05:38The UFO suggesting markers over there.
05:43That was Jason Anderson, that is.
05:45Came out that corner, lost that rear end, so no harm, no foul on that one, but yeah,
05:49that's battling with Tomac Anderson and Tomac eighth and ninth, so not sure what
05:53happened to Tomac after the first turn, but he was 10th after that.
05:58Now they're moving forward.
06:01Now, when I just mentioned because Jett Lawrence wasn't able to pull away, is he
06:05listening to the broadcast right now because he just threw in a hot half a lap.
06:09Now he's starting to get away from him, and I think he knew Aaron Plessinger got up,
06:13which was the guy who was able to get around him last weekend, got into that
06:17second place, so now he's trying to break that confidence and have Aaron start
06:20rotting behind him.
06:21It'd be hard to do because Aaron's going to do it, and I want to say it, J, but I see
06:26some weather moving in.
06:27You know that rain comes out.
06:29Cowboy's got his dancing shoes on for that.
06:31And he does like the mud.
06:32Won that mud race, Monster Energy Supercross at Foxborough.
06:36Well, look, he can't sneak attack Jett Lawrence because the crowd will alert you.
06:41Maybe quiet it down, everybody.
06:42Help your guy out and just keep it quiet because Jett probably figured out, oh, I think I know
06:47he might have gone to second place.
06:48Yeah, and he can hear it from the crowd, as you mentioned, because the other guy that
06:51he'd be worried about would be Eli Tomac, and he can hear that motorcycle, so he can
06:56hear Aaron can't sneak because of the crowd, but nonetheless, still a good job.
07:00Jett's starting to loosen up.
07:01Aaron's going to have to do a good job as we're watching Eli Tomac try to close in on
07:05RJ, and he's got Jorge Prado right in front of him, so Eli's got some work to do to get
07:10up in the podium in his moto.
07:12So he made the move on Anderson that you saw in the bottom box.
07:14That's Tomac there in blue.
07:16Now working on Hampshire, and Plessinger working on closing the gap.
07:22Oh, that's your brother.
07:23That's Malcolm Stewart over there.
07:25Yeah, it looks like they're checking.
07:27He must have hit his neck or something because they didn't pull his helmet off, so Malcolm's
07:32a tough boy.
07:32He's standing up.
07:33He'll be all right, but tough break for Husqvarna rider right there.
07:38And I think we have a replay here of Malcolm.
07:41He's right behind Eli here.
07:43He's going to come in and try to get to that inside.
07:48Oh, yeah, let's see.
07:50That's what I thought.
07:51Something when they were looking under his chin, and oh, man, those are the worst ones
07:55because the helmet, it likes to hook on that and front brake, all that stuff.
08:00Clutch area caught him.
08:01Uppercut from the handlebars.
08:03Got hit by Tyson right there.
08:07Aaron Plessinger still digging, and he needs to because he's got both Lawrences to contend
08:11with.
08:12Trying to catch Jett, and Hunter is on the hunt.
08:15Yeah, Hunter will be there.
08:17And again, like I mentioned, Jett's about three seconds up front, just slowly pulling away.
08:21And it's frustrating because Aaron's right there, and he just got around Justin Cooper,
08:25and he's thinking about last weekend.
08:27I was able to run the guy down, and he's just standing up, just pulling away from me.
08:31And then I got another Lawrence behind me.
08:34It'd be a tough motor to keep moving forward, but anybody can do it.
08:37This crowd will keep the number seven moving forward if you can.
08:40You hear him everywhere he goes, as he gets to the top of this hill.
08:49A few little mistakes in that corner easily happened.
08:52Actually, that was a nice save by Aaron right there.
08:54He started losing the front end, but he was able to catch a rut, which kept him moving forward
08:59and actually gained some time on Hunter, but that was quickly almost went down.
09:03More battling here with Prado under fire from Hampshire, who's got to go because Eli Tomac is lurking.
09:10Yeah, still, I would say somewhat of a good ride by Jorge.
09:16Can he cover the line?
09:18But Hampshire, he does.
09:19Yeah, he's one of those tracks as a rider, you know.
09:22Like, if I just beat him to the inside, I'm going to just go really slow through this section
09:25because he won't be able to get around me, and it's going to frustrate RJ.
09:28As you can see, Jorge pulls a tear off because he knew RJ wouldn't be able to get around him.
09:35Shot to the inside now.
09:39Lost traction.
09:41Prado holds him at bay.
09:42Yeah, but Jorge right here, RJ can sling a shot around the outside if Jorge doesn't do anything,
09:47and it'd be up the inside here, so...
09:50RJ was kind of nice.
09:52He kind of gave a little rep.
09:53Jorge looked like he was going to back it out, but RJ didn't push it in.
09:56Another section opens up, puts RJ in a whole different line.
10:00He'll be out on the outside of here, but then he goes back and...
10:03Hey, look, that's Cooper Webb.
10:05Is that Cooper Webb up ahead?
10:07That is Cooper Webb, yeah.
10:09Prado might make a pass instead of getting past.
10:14See what he does right here.
10:16Cooper's going to have the inside spot racer.
10:19Well, you're talking two of the smartest right here, multi-time champions with Webb and Prado.
10:27Now, when you watch these guys, when you talk about that rabbit in front of you,
10:31just look at their body language and how they attack it.
10:34Jorge would somewhat, say, you know, a carrot dangling on the stick.
10:38He had RJ behind him, and then all of a sudden, Cooper Webb was right in front of him.
10:40And then he starts, you know, whipping the bike, moving forward.
10:43So he has a...
10:45Oh! Jet stalled!
10:47How does that affect it?
10:49There goes Hunter, and I'm going to assume Plessinger further up the road.
10:53That was a weird, weird incident.
10:55They stalled the motorcycle, but easy to happen.
10:58So guys are sliding in the corners, and I'm assuming he probably slid in there,
11:01hit that soft stuff, but it's kind of sitting up at this point.
11:06Instead of the crowd.
11:07Okay, let's take us through it, James.
11:08So, yeah, all looks good here.
11:10He's got his own line, hits that, and comes in here and probably just stalls it.
11:15You see him hit that slick spot.
11:18That's a weird move right there.
11:19Didn't even look like he was on the brakes.
11:22Yeah, obviously, there's two ways you can stall.
11:24The rider can make the error, or the machine itself.
11:29And that doesn't seem like an area where that would happen by mistake.
11:32Yeah, well, I think it was a mistake by the rider because, yeah, back up.
11:36And if he felt like the motorcycle, if the motorcycle would quit, then he wouldn't be staying close to Hunter.
11:41We talked about this last weekend with Hayden Deegan and his motorcycle.
11:44Riders, when they feel like it's a bike problem, they'll start jumping with the front end high.
11:48So, to me, that just tells me that he didn't have his hands on his clutch.
11:51You just tap the rear brake, and with these factory brakes, it's easy to stall.
11:55It just looks like he had to put the bike in neutral, which made it look like it worse than it is.
11:59But Jet's back on the pace.
12:01Oh, yeah, he definitely is now.
12:03So, when you saw him standing up at first, that was a few corners to get it dialed in.
12:07Well, yeah, he's back big time.
12:09Yeah, well, when he was standing up, I was thinking that it was something with his motorcycle because he was being, you know, patient.
12:15But that's the way this kid rides.
12:16He probably knew at the end of the day, I'm going to just get my goggles and all that straight.
12:21I'm going to pass older brother on the inside right here.
12:24Oh, no.
12:25Hunter.
12:26A little difficult.
12:27Did you not take the trash out of what?
12:29Because Hunter ain't letting you through.
12:30You should have the pass mate right here.
12:33If you get through it, be back on the inside.
12:35Hunter's digging.
12:37Can he protect the inside?
12:42And Jet has it.
12:44Shades of a couple years ago in the 250 class where these two brothers went at it.
12:49One of the best 250 races you'll ever see between them at high point.
12:53Jet's got to go, though.
12:56Yeah, Aaron's still right.
12:57I mean, it's 17 minutes up in front.
12:58And if you notice that same section that Jet stalled the bike, there's a little bump that comes in that corner.
13:03And I bet what happened is, is the back end was off the ground and wasn't thinking about it.
13:07He hit the rear down brake, not thinking that, look, sometimes you don't have to have your hands on the clutch when you're moving so fast.
13:13And that thing just stalled on him.
13:14But look, as quickly as he was behind a lap ago, he's doubling, making his supercross section, going down the hill.
13:20And he can see that number seven in front of him.
13:23And you can also hear this crowd loving the seven leading it.
13:28So they get back in view.
13:31Oh, you hear it everywhere he goes.
13:40Now, this is a dubious stat for Plessinger.
13:44Out of all the riders that have ever won the 250 pro motocross title, he has the most career 450 starts without a moto win with 54.
13:53JT.
13:55Well, you know, AP got a little help there from Jet.
13:58But regardless, this entire 2025 pro motocross campaign, I've been so impressed by the level we have seen from Aaron Plessinger.
14:05He's really elevated his game.
14:07And I think what I may be more impressed by is his demeanor through this whole thing.
14:12When you talk to guys like Jet or Hunter or Eli Tomac, you can feel the weight of the pressure and the expectations upon them to win races and chase the championship.
14:21Not so much with AP.
14:22Like, he feels like he got, like, a golden ticket from Willy Wonka to be here.
14:26Like, he is so excited all the time with a smile on his face.
14:29It is completely different than everybody else around him.
14:32So just, you know, different personalities, different contrasts, but a completely different character than the rest of these guys.
14:37That's an excellent point.
14:38And, yeah, you're right, JT.
14:39And I think that's the way, usually, if you get beat so many times, it eventually gets to you.
14:44But I think with Aaron, he is that way.
14:47It is the Willy Wonka, you know, factory ticket.
14:49And I think that's just the confidence.
14:50And I'm with you, JT.
14:51The way he's showed up in his outdoors kind of somewhat surprised me how good he is.
14:56Only problem for him is that the 18 is closing really quickly at this point.
15:01But I also believe Aaron is probably a little bit more comfortable being the chaser because if you're not used to being out front, it's just a whole different position to be in.
15:10So we've got a race on our hand, and it looks like some grain is starting to come down as well.
15:15Oh.
15:18Halfway through this race, Monster Energy available now at BFS Foods.
15:23Lawrence is trying to gang up on Aaron Plessinger.
15:26Man, I can't believe Jett was able to gain when we saw Plessinger on that lap.
15:30He looked unbelievable.
15:33Yeah, I like Jett's lines, though, because he's actually making the track shorter.
15:36Like right here, he'll just go.
15:38He's a little bit farther out, but he was a little bit farther on the inside that next lap.
15:42And again, the way these off-camera corners, if you just start to shorten up this racetrack, it helps.
15:47And that's where Jett's making the time.
15:48All of his passes, all of his lines are really tight, really short, keeping that momentum up, Katie.
15:54Yes, Stu, and you know, we were all talking about this earlier in the week is how and who could rattle Jett Lawrence?
16:00And I asked him that.
16:01I said, how do you get rattled?
16:02He said, well, I'm overall pretty easygoing, but the best way I can compare it is to golf.
16:07You might like that one, Stu.
16:08You can't control where the ball went or where it's going to go, but you can control your swing.
16:13And that's how I think about this in racing.
16:15And in fact, like you're saying right now, Stu, his lines look good.
16:18He looks good on the bike.
16:19He can't control what happened before, but he can control moving forward just what he can control.
16:24Yeah, and he's figured it out.
16:26And, you know, as bad as golfers I am, it's the only thing in the world that the worse you are, the more chances you get to do it.
16:33So I get a lot of time to play a lot of golf.
16:35The game ain't that good.
16:36But, yeah, if you look at Jet Lawrence and his lines, as I mentioned, he's shortened the whole racetrack up, even just hopping down that hill.
16:43Because he hops another foot, he misses all those braking bumps.
16:45He just stays the course.
16:47He's on a little bit farther on the inside.
16:48He's able to miss the bumps going up.
16:50And, look, he's already over to number seven that quickly.
16:55I notice when you talk to Jet face-to-face, you really talk about how good you are at golf.
16:59But when he's busy racing, suddenly you admit maybe you're not as good as you've been telling him.
17:03Hey, look, man, he's beating everybody else out here.
17:05I can't let him know he can get me at golf, too.
17:07So I've got to show my confidence.
17:09I'm the golfer that shows up at the new clubs and all that.
17:12I want to make you think I'm that good.
17:13And he's making Plessinger think he's good because Plessinger's riding well, but Lawrence has caught him.
17:19Yeah, made a mistake, hand came off.
17:21But, man, the way this racetrack is, if I said an opening lap, if Jet can build a racetrack that was set up, a practice track, it would be this one.
17:29Because there's so many opportunities, and this rider is so talented.
17:33He's in a line that he doesn't want to be in, but what you notice with him, there's no rush.
17:38There's no rush.
17:39He's not going to try to make any mistakes.
17:41If he's off, just look, I'm going to just take my time because I believe I'm going to catch this guy if I just put a clean lap together.
17:47It was not clean through there.
17:51And Plessinger able to stretch it back out.
17:54Now, meanwhile, this is Prado battling with Hampshire.
17:58He's like, welcome to America over here.
18:04But, yeah, he's got on that, and R.J.'s just lean because we saw a few laps ago they got that close, and R.J. wasn't able to get the pass.
18:10But Aaron's got to keep doing exactly what he's doing.
18:14And, I mean, if anything, just put Jett, maybe make him start missing his marks because as clearly as he does that, look how much there's a gap.
18:22And that's when you start breaking down the race among these guys.
18:25When I'm getting beat, and sometimes Jett just has better lines because you just mentioned earlier he missed his mark, right?
18:32Now look at the gap that Aaron has.
18:34Now Jett was able to hit his mark.
18:36He was able to close that gap.
18:37So it really just comes down to the line selection, and Jett figures that part out, I think, better than anyone around this racetrack.
18:42And that's why he's always so strong during the motos.
18:46Man, look at that gap.
18:47Now, by the way, Eli Tomac, out of nowhere, has just been in the fastest lap of the race.
18:51He went 2.05.
18:542.07s for the majority of the group up ahead.
18:57Tomac is in fifth.
18:59Now you see the gap is nearly 10 seconds, but this track is changing in a hurry.
19:03And just as quickly as we thought we saw rain coming down, now it's bright sunshine.
19:07Let's watch this with the 18.
19:09Whoa!
19:10Yeah, and that's what you got to do.
19:12That's easy.
19:13But those guys are getting, because they're jumping up on that step up, that corner's getting wider and wider.
19:17And what Jett ended up doing, he got up on that ledge.
19:21That back tire slid out.
19:23That was a close one.
19:23But again, he's going to calm down.
19:25The number seven, when all that stuff is going on, number seven's right in front of him.
19:29And Eli Tomac, James.
19:30The 2.05 was the fastest.
19:33Now this lap, he's gone 2.04.
19:35The fastest lap anyone has turned in in this race is by the number three.
19:39He is on fire now.
19:40Yeah, and man, this is going to...
19:42Eli Tomac's a guy who rides with confidence.
19:44And yeah, he could see, I'm sure his mechanics are telling him,
19:47look, they were right in front of you.
19:49And back in the day, this race would be far from over with the beast mode.
19:53If there was anybody else outside of Jett Lawrence in this field, I'd be like, Eli's going to win this race.
19:57So let's see if he comes to life, and if he's able to get around his teammate, man,
20:01that number three is coming straight up to the podium.
20:05Give you a check-in with our Oakley-backed riders, and that includes the leader, Plessinger,
20:10then these two, Cooper and Tomac, and then Hefshire in sixth.
20:14Can Tomac keep this pace going?
20:16Something has happened in the second half of the race for the three.
20:19Yeah, and as you mentioned, I mean, he was almost three seconds faster than our leader.
20:23That was Aaron Plessinger.
20:24Eli Tomac is rolling at this point.
20:28Oh, yeah, I love that.
20:30Just rev it up to him.
20:31Justin probably can't hear it because this bike's just like, yeah, you see that?
20:34You hear that?
20:34Oh, Jett has caught Aaron now in a battle for the lead.
20:39That's where Jett made the mistake a lap ago.
20:41This time he's clean.
20:42Oh, he's on the inside, James.
20:44Not enough.
20:44Yeah, but you can see how much shorter that track was, and he's going to get Aaron here.
20:49Aaron may be going.
20:51Nice move by Jett.
20:52Just jump on the outside.
20:53He was being nice.
20:54Aaron could have really, he could have closed Aaron off, but.
20:57Oh, can the seven send it down the hill?
21:01Not enough.
21:02Jett Lawrence locks down the lead.
21:04Yeah, nice move.
21:05But a lap ago, he was, Aaron had about a three-second lead on you, and on Jett.
21:09Clearly the line.
21:11Oh, he just dialed in a 2.05.
21:13Did Lawrence, as we go back to this, Tomac in lap traffic trying to get Justin Cooper still.
21:21Oh, no, that's going to be frustrating.
21:22I don't know what happened.
21:23He lost a little bit of time, but Eli signifying to his teammate, move out of my way, just shows me that he has the pace.
21:31And the only thing you worry about, Eli, somebody stops him.
21:34It used to be back in the day when he got in that mode.
21:37The only thing that you have to do, if Eli passed you, you have to pass him back instantly
21:40because you have to slow that momentum down.
21:43And if you could, now you're starting to see the mistakes, and then he's starting to get frustrated.
21:46Same thing that happened the first motor last weekend.
21:50We've got to hopefully get back up there, JT.
21:52Oh, yeah, and Justin Cooper, he's a New Yorker.
21:54He's from Long Island.
21:55So I'm going to imagine Eli Tomac revving.
21:58It's like honking your horn.
21:59You ever been to New York?
22:00Everybody just lays on the horn.
22:01That's exactly what Eli Tomac was doing.
22:03And realistically, he's trying to break his concentration.
22:06He's trying to say, hey, man, I got to go, and hopefully you make a mistake along the way.
22:10But I think it almost kind of worked backwards.
22:12Like it almost maybe fired Justin Cooper up here because Eli Tomac lost his toe here.
22:18Well, guys, while we were all eating our lunch, Justin Cooper was actually standing by a fence by our TV compound of all things,
22:24just checking out the track, doing the little extra homework to understand what the track was doing.
22:29He was telling me, of course, I had to go over there and ask him, how's this going?
22:32And he said, this track is so racy.
22:34I just want to understand it more.
22:36And that is something that we have to make sure these guys know, obviously, is how the track is going to come together.
22:42And he's holding tough.
22:44Katie in that fourth-place spot under fire from Tomac.
22:47That Hunter Lawrence there in the bottom box.
22:51Yeah, as I mentioned, Hunter, he's only had one motor podium.
22:54But this race last year, he went on podium both motors.
22:58So something about the home cooking.
22:59And I feel like with Hunter Lawrence, he's a start dependent.
23:03I wouldn't say start dependent, but if he's out front close to the lead, he's fast enough clearly to be on the podium.
23:08And then his bike seems to be working a lot better this weekend.
23:11So I like what I see from both HRC and Honda's JT.
23:14Yeah, I mean, they both look great.
23:16But I'm more worried about what's going on with AP here, James.
23:19His lap times have dropped off significantly.
23:22He's down to a 209.
23:24That's two 209s in a row where everybody else around him is 207, 208, or better.
23:30You know, Jett threw in a 205 that lap to get the lead.
23:33So I don't know if he sprinted and now he's trying to recover, just maybe kind of overdid it there, right?
23:39But he certainly lost the pace he had early on.
23:41Yeah, I think a little bit ahead.
23:43It doesn't look like he's tired.
23:44But sometimes, like, when you're in Aaron's position, like, all right, look, you got in that second place.
23:49Jett was starting to get away from you.
23:50Then you got handed the lead.
23:52And then you were watching behind you.
23:54You would pull away.
23:55You didn't know what was going on when that Jett was making mistakes.
23:57It's easy to think that now that Jett got past you that now you got to pick up the pace because he's just going faster rather than understanding where Jett's making his time up.
24:07It's not going faster.
24:08It's really his line selection.
24:09So I think at the end of the day, Aaron's probably starting to override the racetrack, which he's starting to lose even more time because he's thinking he needs to just charge harder.
24:18So he needs to just calm back down.
24:19And, you know, look, the 18's still in front of him, Katie.
24:22Yeah, Stu, it's interesting.
24:23His team down here in the pits are saying, hey, learn.
24:27AP, the pit board says, learn.
24:28The team is saying a couple of lines that he was running have been going away as the track is changing.
24:32So now as he's sitting behind Jett, the team is encouraging him to learn something, take it all in.
24:37And, of course, if it's not this moto, take it into the next moto.
24:40Thanks, Katie.
24:41I just got an update to Brad West at the number 334.
24:45Cut the first turn and penalizing him 10 positions.
24:48So they're taking that one seriously, that infraction.
24:52Everyone's trying to figure their way out around this racetrack.
24:55My choice of a different kind there.
24:57Yeah, that was a good one.
24:58And what Katie was talking about was kind of the same thing I'm saying.
25:02His team's telling them to learn, like, basically, pick up Jett's lines because his lines are better.
25:07So learn from him.
25:08And if you can, then look, he's not pulling away from you as quickly as he was passing and got that gap.
25:13He's still right there.
25:14So it's like AP is starting to do that.
25:16But at the same time, Hunter is learning off of him.
25:19And he wants to get some action as well.
25:22What a Father's Day present.
25:24Both those boys can bring to Darren if they're able to go 1-2 in his moto.
25:27So it's going to be a fight to the end.
25:31And Plessica responded.
25:32Got it back into the 207s here.
25:34JT mentioned he had run 209s.
25:37And then that big charge from Tomac had a 205, a 204.
25:41Now he's back to running 209.
25:43So not sure what got going for the three.
25:45And it's drifted back away from him as he's stuck in fifth.
25:49Yeah, and when you look at Aaron, this last lap was a lot smoother.
25:53The last three quarters of that lap was smoother.
25:55So, again, the situation is not – sometimes you go fast around the racetrack.
26:00It isn't about charging going down the hill.
26:01It's about picking better lines, shortening up the racetrack.
26:05And one of the guys who do it well, we always talk about in Supergraphs, is Cooper Webbs.
26:08When that track gets beat up, he just shortens it.
26:10Finds the smoothest parts of the racetrack.
26:12And we saw Jett on the screen doing the same thing.
26:15When he was trying to run down Aaron Blesinger, he was making mistakes.
26:19When he got in his lines and just did his own deal, he was able to close that gap.
26:22And that's what's happening right now.
26:26Man, it's almost cruel sometimes the way Jett does this.
26:29Just keeps that carrot right there.
26:32But when we saw what he had to go, what he could do.
26:36But once he gets the lead, then it's just stabilizing.
26:39And Blesinger can still see him in some of the longer sections of the track.
26:42Yeah, and I think that's the difficult part when we watch with Jett.
26:47It looks like he's like, all right, man, when he wanted to make that ground up, he was able to make it.
26:51But then at the same time, when you watch Jett ride, he was making mistakes behind Aaron.
26:56And it wasn't until he calmed down that he made up a lot of times.
27:00And sometimes this kid is so good.
27:03What makes him great is not being the fastest everywhere, but being the smartest and choosing lines.
27:08As Hunter goes up the inside, Aaron better turn down.
27:11From what?
27:11He wants to get it.
27:12Nice move.
27:13I believe Aaron should go around the single.
27:15There you go.
27:16Block that line.
27:17Makes you stay on the inside down here.
27:19But Hunter's going to try to charge what you do, what you want to do with Hunter, get beside him, make him get nervous, make him drop the throttle, make him stay getting out of his corner, which he does.
27:28And he's a nice line.
27:29He should have the inside to pass here.
27:31Long run to three, four turns to set it off.
27:34But the 96, Hunter Lawrence locks down second.
27:38Yeah, and the good thing with Hunter, he's been watching AP this whole time.
27:41That's why I do feel like Jet is great at Hunter.
27:44Anybody that can pass, sometimes you drift back a little bit and you study the guy's weakness in front of him.
27:50And when you get to him, you've got to attack him instantly because if he missed that pass, then you have Aaron Placitor blocking in the next lap.
27:57So nice move by Hunter.
27:58He saw the opportunity.
27:59He made it happen.
28:00Now he's got a gap.
28:01And he doesn't have to worry about their favor being returned by him, by Aaron.
28:05Look at this battle here.
28:06Jorge Prado has drifted back to 10th.
28:08And Benoit Patrelle, the veteran out of France, these two have raced each other plenty of times through the years, is in 11th of the Twisted T, Suzuki.
28:16We talked to him yesterday about these tracks here in America.
28:21Yeah, it's a big difference.
28:23You don't have time to learn.
28:24And it's really quick.
28:25You need to be fast and quick because it's only 15 minutes.
28:30So it goes like five, six laps.
28:32But I enjoy a lot and the tracks are amazing because it's so big, so wide.
28:39So you need to learn to explore every line and go outside, inside.
28:45So you have many choices to pass and many lines, so this you need to learn.
28:52That's cool.
28:53And he's probably going to pass Jorge.
28:54Like, man, you learned this track yet?
28:56You know, we're always trying to figure this thing out together because it's Jorge right in front of him.
28:59But, you know, still.
29:01It's a world championship.
29:02You have so many different countries.
29:04It's good to see all these guys out here.
29:05But, I mean, there's a list of them right there.
29:08Actually, this section of the track they're about to hit.
29:10They're going to go up this hill and then go back down those famous downhill rollers.
29:13They actually have flags from every country that's represented in the field today.
29:19I don't know if you'll be able to see that.
29:20It'll be just off the rider's right.
29:24There they are.
29:25Yeah.
29:26Thanks, guys.
29:27Appreciate the shot.
29:28Yep.
29:28And there's Prado out of Spain and the Frenchman, Patrerell, right behind him.
29:32So, some signs of life from Prado.
29:36But, in the end, back to 10.
29:38And back to the leader, Jet Lawrence, JT.
29:41Guys, I want you to watch Jet right here.
29:43He's going to pass the mechanics here.
29:45And this is the corner that he made that mistake and installed it.
29:47Watch.
29:48There's a bump here.
29:49And he's jumping right there.
29:50Jumps across that hole into that line.
29:53Now, that's not the reason he's winning the race.
29:55But those subtleties where he was jumping into those bumps after the downhill rollers.
30:00It's little things like that.
30:01He's avoiding having to hit bumps that other guys are.
30:04Just little bursts of energy that he can save.
30:07And it's more of like being super creative and keeping his eyes open all the way around
30:11the racetrack to find out how to be just a little bit quicker.
30:14Yeah.
30:14No.
30:14And JT, that's another one.
30:16He jumps in.
30:16And I do believe that is one of the main reasons he is winning the races.
30:20And that's what we mentioned earlier, Jason, that, you know, it must be frustrating to
30:24be Aaron Fletcher.
30:25And he's hanging that carrot right in front of him.
30:27But what he's doing is, again, his line selection.
30:31I was saying it earlier.
30:32I didn't finish him.
30:33His line selection is better than anybody else, you know, around this racetrack.
30:37And because he's just so patient and so calm at doing what he's doing, as we were watching
30:42Eli trying to get back to his teammate, it's like he's not pulling away from you instantly
30:46because of speed.
30:47He just wears you down.
30:49And it makes you feel like you have a choice.
30:51But eventually he keeps jumping these bumps and it's smoother.
30:55You're attacking.
30:55And eventually you start wearing out.
30:57And then that gap stretches.
30:58So I do believe that's why these guys are able to stay so close because he's not attacking
31:03at with speed.
31:04He's attacking this track with tactical moves instead of speed.
31:08And it eventually pays off in the long run.
31:10And he ends up winning.
31:11And back to this battle again.
31:13It's Justin Cooper and Eli Tomac.
31:15But one more thing on the jet thing, when he saves that much energy, when the rider does
31:21get to him, doesn't that just make him that much fresher to withstand that attack?
31:27Yeah, I mean, yes.
31:28Yes and no.
31:29I think what it does is that when the rider gets to him, unless you ride like that, again,
31:34you're going to try to do your Eli Tomac.
31:36You're going to blitz down the hill.
31:38You're going to try to go around him.
31:40And I think once you get close to jet, you get so excited, you try to go faster and then
31:44you slam in the rut.
31:45And then he just rides past you.
31:47Eventually, that just mentally wears these guys out.
31:50So I don't know if it's jet saving the energy or these guys mentally get worn out that I
31:54had my chance.
31:55I did get it.
31:56And it's one of these scenarios that keeps continuously happening.
31:59It doesn't matter who's behind him.
32:01We end up in the same spot.
32:02And that's frustrating as a rider.
32:04And you can see the same thing happening with Eli Tomac.
32:06He's faster than Justin Cooper.
32:08But we saw him.
32:10He didn't get his lines.
32:11He wasn't able to get around him.
32:12He stalled his pace out.
32:13Then he went from a 204 to a 209 in the same lap.
32:17And that part is the same thing that happens with Jet Lawrence once he's up front.
32:20Just butt-straight these guys.
32:22And it's a skill that he's able to execute the best out of anybody, clearly.
32:27A reminder that every round of this Super Motocross World Championship, all 31, you can listen
32:34to it on Sirius XM Radio, the NBC Sports Audio Channel, which is Channel 85.
32:40So if you can't watch, certainly listen if you're on the road during the summer months
32:45here during Pro Motocross.
32:47Lap Rider falls down in front of Cooper and Tomac in this battle for fourth.
32:53Two to go.
32:53Yeah, I do believe, you know, when you're Justin Cooper, you're like, man, possibly Eli might
33:03be on a different team.
33:04So I don't know if you even look at him as a teammate anymore, you know, if he switches
33:08team.
33:08Who knows?
33:09For next year?
33:10Yeah, for next year, possibly.
33:11So I think if it was Cooper Webb, Justin might have moved out of the way.
33:16But because all that scenario, and he wants to get his first ever win himself, it's not
33:21going to make it hard, easy for him.
33:22And I'm sure that's frustrating for Eli, as you heard him a few laps ago, about 10 minutes
33:27ago, revving his bike up.
33:29Yeah, the off-season rumor is really heating up.
33:31Yamaha, who had expected Tomac, by his own admission, to retire at some point.
33:36He set it at 22, 23, 24, 25.
33:39He wants to keep racing.
33:40They really don't have room anymore.
33:42They still have Cooper Webb.
33:43They still have Justin Cooper.
33:44Hayden Deegan will be moving up.
33:46We think he'll be at a 450 in this Pro Motocross Championship next year.
33:51So it was a happy marriage between Tomac and Yamaha, but it might be coming to an end.
33:55There are rumors he might end up at KTM next year.
33:59Now, the riders are going to tell you until the off-season officially.
34:02Speaking of KTMs, they caught one.
34:05Yeah, they caught one, and I'm sure it's going to motivate Eli.
34:07So now he'll realize that Aaron Pleasant is right here.
34:11If he can get in that third place, that changes the whole overall.
34:14So somewhat, as you were just mentioned, as Justin Cooper goes flying past Aaron Pleasant.
34:19Woo!
34:20Podium position now for the 32.
34:22Now, again, as I said earlier, you see how these guys' body language, when they get that
34:26rabbit in front of him, that toe.
34:28Eli was all over Justin.
34:30It looked like he was eventually going to get past him.
34:31Justin sees Aaron.
34:33He goes flying past him.
34:34Oh, Aaron fights right back.
34:36There's some body language.
34:37Yeah.
34:37I mean, and look, and they were able to pull that gap from Eli Tomac.
34:41So I know you might get tired of me talking about that toe, but that's the toe that I'm
34:45talking about.
34:45These guys see somebody.
34:47They want to attack and got to race for the podium at the end.
34:50Look at both those legs come out.
34:53Legs off.
34:55Worries off.
34:55Doesn't care.
34:57Fighting it out.
34:57Justin Cooper going to run the outside to inside here.
35:02Now, if I'm Eli Tomac, I'm going to try to close back in on this guy because Aaron's
35:06going to be trying to block Cooper.
35:08Oh, there it goes.
35:09Sneak in and try to get Justin.
35:11I might be able to get me both through those guys.
35:14Not quite enough.
35:16Here's the return fire from Plessinger a moment ago.
35:19Yeah, Justin loses the front end.
35:20He's not able to get over this tunnel jump.
35:22Aaron does, and then he gets on the outside.
35:24Pretty easy pass.
35:25That was all caused by Justin's mistake.
35:27Might be costly for the podium.
35:29It's the last lap.
35:30These three fighting for third.
35:34In the back section for the final time.
35:37Man, that's a pothole right there.
35:38I feel like if Eli can get close to him, we saw some passes being made.
35:42I like this inside line, this middle line that Eli has.
35:46Didn't like it right there.
35:50Meanwhile, Chet Lawrence should have the checkers inside.
35:54He's at the bottom of the hill.
35:55Got to get to the top turn left.
35:58He's never lost a 450 moto here at high point.
36:03Keeps it alive.
36:05Chet Lawrence wins the first moto.
36:08At high point, 2025, this battle is going to the line.
36:11Plessinger, Cooper, Tomac.
36:16Third, fourth, fifth.
36:19Good ride by Aaron.
36:20They're going to hold on.
36:20Good ride by both brothers to get it done.
36:23That was a good race.
36:24Tough conditions.
36:25I'm sure Eli might be a little frustrated at fifth pace.
36:29Definitely had the pace to win this one.
36:30Did have the fastest lap of the moto, Eli Tomac.
36:33Hunter Lawrence, by the way, best result of the year for him with that runner-up.
36:39And Lawrence is our one-two on the Honda's.
36:46Well, second time in two weeks we've seen Plessinger get around.
36:49We've seen Plessinger get around.
