00:00As Lucas Coonan runs in and he gets around the outside, Panza with him though, fantastic start for Jan Panza, putting the factory boys to shame as he crosses the Foxhole shot line just behind Lucas Coonan who leads the way, Fevre in fourth heading up the first hill, but where will he emerge as we hit the line at the end of this lap, Isaac Gifting, not an easy rider to pass either on that JK Yamaha, so Fevre has got his work cut out on this opening lap.
00:26Speaking to Lucas Coonan earlier, he was so focused on the start, he knew if he could get the start and just manage the race, whether he could be Fevre would be decided, would be decided later, but he knew the race would be so much easier and he's executed part A so far.
00:39So Lucas Coonan leads it as we head uphill for the first time, Panza in second, Gifting third, Fevre, Fernandes in fifth place on that prototype Honda, Tom Kock in sixth, Zewa seven, Maxim Renault in eighth place, Koldanov in ninth, Guadagnini in tenth, we've got Steri, Prunier, Prunier on a 450 for the first time this weekend of course on the Honda SR Motor Blues motor machine, because no Kevin Haugmo, no Albie Ferrato, so really being thrown in the deep end, he's already up into 11th place, he's the young Frenchman.
01:07We were wondering if anybody from that outside would pull it off, Tom Kock was out there with Guadagnini, he came out sixth, so that line's still effective, it's not ideal, but it does work, you say you qualify 20th, you can still get a good start.
01:17Watch this here, that was into turn two, Gifting just, getting up the inside of Roman Fevre and then closing him down here at the end of the next straight, Fevre still trying to find his way past the Swede, who knows he's got somebody there.
01:33Kept him guessing, didn't he, on the way into that corner, he wasn't sure whether to go inside or outside, last minute, Gifting committed, and that sort of prevented the move from the number three.
01:44Look at Lukas Kunin doing what he did in Finland, he's already two seconds clear, it might be more than that when he hits the line, a handful of corners from now.
01:51Yeah, and Fevre needs to make quick passes here, he simply cannot afford to sit behind the likes of Gifting and Panzer, because Kunin, he's going to look back here and see that it's Panzer, he's going to try to put in some hot laps here to try to build that gap.
02:03This is exactly what the situation you'd want, is riders that aren't in the championship fight, in between you and Roman Fevre.
02:10And also, like, first lap, going past pit lane, did he already get a board signal to say that Fevre fourth or whatever, but you don't even need to look back, do you?
02:17Even if he gets a board signal to say, yep, Panzer, second, bit of a moment there for Fevre, in that right hand up, 148 to two.
02:26Ooh, Gifting had a big moment there, coming down the hill as well.
02:28Yeah, that is a gnarly hill there, it used to be a big step down at this point here, just below the hill.
02:33Well, where the banners are on the left-hand side, it's about 30 meters point to point.
02:37And it was a very steep landing as well at that, because there used to be a road crossing at that point.
02:44Anyway, Fevre tries to duck to the inside, Fernandez keeping him on his C, where Renault, Koldov, Tangachini, Kopp, down to 10th place from 6th.
02:53So a mistake for the beta rider.
02:56That was a nice line from Fevre, if he's close enough next lap, he could make a move on Gifting there.
03:03Tough part here is to sit in the roost zone as well, it's really challenging, it's really rocky and chilly here, so it's going to be painful.
03:14Yeah, you can't afford to sit behind it, but early on, everyone's fired up, adrenaline pumping through the veins, everybody's fresh as a daisy.
03:20Then you've got the result, watch this here.
03:23Oh, yeah.
03:23That was that moment I was talking about, it was a little more than I even thought.
03:26Yeah, it wasn't just a braking bump, it was almost like he'd dirt jammed the front brake when he landed somehow.
03:30He lost the front coming down a hill, which is a little bit abnormal.
03:34But Jan Panza, what a great start for the 253, the privateer, which has featured him in our team report a moment ago.
03:42But Jan Panza, who rocks up in a camper and a trailer, mum and dad, just driven 26 hours to get here this weekend.
03:48Pretty much a man in charge of his own destiny, there's the three of them, turn up to the races, they mix it with the factory guys.
03:57Of course, to see two privateer teams in there with Isaac Gifton behind them as well, and the JK Yamaha, neither of these two riders are factory teams.
04:05Kunin on a factory Red Bull KTM, Febber on a factory Kawasaki, they are first and fourth, and they are first and second in the championship, not in that order.
04:13So really, giving the factory boys a run for their money here this weekend in Lockett.
04:16The behind-the-gate segment producers are loving this, it's great timing.
04:22Especially when the new episode comes out on Monday, tomorrow night or Tuesday morning, for those who are on the platform.
04:30But great to see as well.
04:32But look at gifting, outside, inside, closing down Febber again, who goes to the inside once again.
04:36This is that line, watch and see if he can cut under him at the top of this berm.
04:40Yeah, choose not to jump.
04:41There it goes.
04:42Oh, he all pulled it off.
04:43Elbows weren't big enough.
04:44Close, that was the line he set up last lap.
04:47I wanted to see if he could pull it off.
04:48But gifting is also not shy.
04:50He takes a lot to move him as well.
04:52He's a stocky lad and doesn't take any kind of hassle from anybody, whether you're a factory rider leading the championship or not.
04:58But here, had Febber not just lost back-end traction there, would have been a clean pass.
05:03And he comes in hot, ruffling the feathers of the championship leader.
05:07Febber won't like that.
05:08But gifting is in the race for himself as well.
05:10But gifting not taking anything there.
05:12A really aggressive pushback.
05:14I mean, you're going up against former world champion, red plate holder, and giving no quarter whatsoever.
05:19So, the back end had already lit up at this point.
05:21So, Febber lost the crucial drive to make a clean pass.
05:24Gifting not wanting to yield anything.
05:26Could have broke a couple of spokes in the front wheel there in the exchange.
05:29But, Febber makes it happen.
05:32And now he's got clear track to go after Jan Panza and second.
05:35But the problem is, Lucas Kunin, already 8.7 seconds clear, is gaining five points on Febber at the top of the championship at a moment.
05:42So, we're down to 11, or should be.
05:44And then, gifting coming under attack from Fernandez, who moves into that fourth place towards the end of the lap.
05:51Good aggressive riding that from the 17, but look at gifting coming back as well.
05:55Well, we talked at the top of the show, track position, track position.
05:58You wonder, why is it so important?
06:00Gifting making the move back.
06:02Come on, Isaac.
06:05Just gets hung up on the exit of the turn.
06:08Fernandez is probably going to run it in hot here.
06:11Gifting will try and slice his way up the inside, but just losing traction on the exit.
06:15Great battle, that, between fourth and fifth.
06:18Fernandez on a 2027 generation Honda out there.
06:22And to be honest, for Fernandez, he doesn't always know how that bike's going to respond.
06:25He doesn't have much time on it.
06:27So, when he starts pushing this hard, he may not know exactly what it's going to do.
06:30I think, though, from a Honda's point of view, it's been ridden quite a lot.
06:36I don't think they're just going to bring it out, like, straight out of the wrapper.
06:40No, no.
06:40And things like that.
06:41So, yeah, there are a lot of unknowns, though, because you can ride it on certain tracks,
06:45but then you come here, different elements again, different challenges again.
06:48Maybe the hills are steeper, longer, the bumps are more fierce.
06:51And in a race situation, you can never replicate what you get on the test track.
06:55Yeah, and it's one of those things where I think, you know, the Honda engineers are confident,
06:59but Ruben's like, I don't necessarily know when I hit this bump at this angle,
07:02at this speed, at this trajectory, what exactly is going to happen,
07:04which is where, you know, confidence comes in for riders.
07:07But is the chassis very similar to what they're running, or is that, again, been a modified chassis?
07:12Because if it's similar, then you do get a bit of a, you know, a familiar understanding with it.
07:16Yeah, I think similar, but I think they're trying to get some of the weight off of the front end,
07:21bring it back to the rear end a little bit, just so it's a little bit,
07:23you hear this twitchy word used with the Honda a lot, I think they're trying to slowly remove that.
07:29Fevre normally drifts beautifully through that first turn.
07:33He's putting Pantzer under pressure.
07:35Pantzer, tell you what, is Pantzer on fire there as he got towards the end of the straight there,
07:38because he was back left and right all over the place,
07:40looked like he was going to overshoot into that second turn.
07:43Manages to keep it on two wheels, crucially, keeps ahead of Fevre.
07:46He's still trying to figure out a way to find his way past the Slovenian.
07:51Again, he goes to the inside here, going to get hung up on the exit,
07:54but he will try to go outside, cut back through the bottom of the hill here,
07:58just to try and make the pass stick.
08:00Didn't work last time.
08:01Not going to work this time around either.
08:03Pantzer, who we know can put in a good turn of speed from his time practice sessions.
08:07It's only been like three or four times outside of the top ten
08:09in the 14 rounds that we've had time practice so far this year.
08:16So we've got Koonin leading the way, 11 seconds clear,
08:19Pantzer second, Fevre third, Fernandes four,
08:21Isaac Gifting here, JK racing Yamaha.
08:24Fantastic start to the race for him inside the top five.
08:27Lisa Leyland getting ready to talk to Giuliano Boschki,
08:30the team manager down there for JK.
08:33Let's go down to Lisa and Giuliano.
08:38Giuliano, we see Isaac Gifting, currently P5.
08:41He's definitely got some fire in his belly.
08:43He's fighting back.
08:44And it's his first race back,
08:45so he's kind of like riding himself back to fitness.
08:47Yeah, let's say we had a little setback,
08:49so we had to skip P5.
08:51But now we feel like he's back on his full form.
08:54Or at least now he's showing that he has the speed to be up there.
08:57Now let's see during the race if he can keep with his fitness.
09:01But yeah, it's important to keep the focus
09:04because the track is very sketchy.
09:07But yeah, for the moment, everything good.
09:09Best of luck to the team. Thank you.
09:12Great to see privateers mixing it though, isn't it?
09:14Who is the sort of highest-placed privateer in the U.S.
09:18when you kind of throw them in the mix at factory level?
09:21Well, I mean, it's a great question.
09:24Just trying to think about it.
09:25Really, nobody's really stood out.
09:27There hasn't been, you know,
09:28but if you look over the last few years,
09:29the Freddie Norens and Mitchell Harrison's and those guys,
09:31oh, for Fevra, a big moment.
09:33I'm glad you said, oh, for Fevra,
09:35because I thought you were going to say, oh, for something else there.
09:37No, that was what Fevra's thinking though, I promise you.
09:40Absolutely.
09:41Different F-word in his head.
09:42Whoa, look at that.
09:43Oh, for Fevra.
09:45sake.
09:45Fevra's sake, exactly.
09:47Very lucky to get away with that one.
09:50All of a sudden, Twitter just blowing up.
09:52Well, those are not very much fun
09:53because they break their concentration
09:54and he's already frustrated being stuck behind pants.
09:58Make no mistake, he is frustrated right now
09:59because he sees Lucas Coonan riding off into the sunset.
10:02You see, look at the body language of Lucas.
10:04He's cruising right now.
10:06You know, his pace is good,
10:07but he's under no duress, no stress, no urgency
10:10compared to Fevra,
10:12who they're both probably the same speed
10:13and just was completely different because of the situation.
10:16Well, there's a difference, isn't it?
10:17You know, you come in 16 points down
10:18and all of a sudden you're going to gain five with your first place
10:21and Fevra in that third position.
10:23Jan Pantzer, every right to be there fighting for his own privateer life.
10:27Who knows?
10:27He might be riding for a deal next year, somewhere, anywhere,
10:30or it's the prospect of going racing again with your own privateer setup,
10:35which is a money pit, let's face it.
10:37At the end of the day, fuel, diesel, you know, spares budgets, everything else.
10:42Maximum Renault trying to get the better of his former teammate, Jeremy Siwa.
10:46Siwa on the Ducati, though, up and over Monster Energy Mountain.
10:50These guys fighting over six.
10:52Siwa is up into that sixth place.
10:54Siwa, seventh now.
10:56That's all right.
10:57Renault was sixth.
10:58Siwa has found his way past the Frenchman.
11:01See the half there?
11:02We haven't seen him in the entire race.
11:03Just a little bit of fun and games here.
11:09Tried to find his way up the inside.
11:11They were pretty much side by side at that point.
11:14That's probably why Siwa was given the,
11:16well, Renault was given the nod into that sixth position there,
11:18but Siwa getting the better of the Yamaha man.
11:22Here's Jago Keerts going after Tom Conk,
11:24who had a great start on that MRT racing beta,
11:28but he has dropped down to 10th place.
11:29He lost, like, about four positions in one lap.
11:32But Jago Keerts right in the thick of things in 11th.
11:37Fevra back onto the rear wheel of Jan Panza.
11:40And he's now going to start getting desperate, isn't he?
11:42And when you do that, you run the risk of more mistakes.
11:45We've seen him make a couple of mistakes here and there,
11:47asking too much of the rear wheel where it's just lit up.
11:50He wants to get that gap deficit down to, well,
11:54he doesn't want to lose five points in the race.
11:56He'd rather lose just the three points, wouldn't he?
11:58Well, and Fevra's frustration level here is about 100 out of 10.
12:03Realistically, he's probably going to end up second in this race.
12:06So he needs to take a deep breath and understand
12:08that's already almost been decided.
12:11But, yeah, see, he probably feels like this race
12:13got away from him before it started.
12:16Obviously, Ducati's going to be arriving in the U.S. next year.
12:19We've got them first full season here in MXGP.
12:21Jeremy Siwa, Mattia Guadagnini, obviously, the rider's being chosen.
12:26There's been a couple of podiums from Siwa.
12:29And, obviously, Tony Cairoli was in the U.S. riding a couple of races.
12:32There was a lot of talk about suspension changes, chassis changes, things like that.
12:36I wonder if they've already been translated and transferred onto that Ducati
12:39and Jeremy Siwa is now the beneficiary of that.
12:43Yeah, and I don't know because, you know, the components and everything,
12:46they were using a factory connection set up in the U.S.
12:48that just a different component set up completely.
12:51So I don't know how much is transferable, but I'm sure they learned a lot.
12:54Over on the far right-hand side, look, Tom Kopp getting onto that hard, dry line
12:57and just rockets his way down the start straight into that first turn.
13:01But it was Lucas Coonan and Liam Panza who duked it out over the foxhole shot,
13:05gifting there in third, Fevra in fourth.
13:07Fevra still only made one pass.
13:09Look at Coonan's bike just pull.
13:12Jan Panza had him.
13:13He had him on the start.
13:14And Coonan just wonder why these riders want factory equipment so badly.
13:20That was a prime example.
13:21Yeah, you can have it because if you've got too much power,
13:23you can't ride it and you can't utilize it.
13:25So whatever he's got there obviously works also in a one-lap dash as well.
13:29Yeah, and then, you know, there's things that could come into play,
13:32fuel maps for the start and different ways
13:34because once you get into the race fuel map,
13:36it's going to be a lot more controllable.
13:38But in a deep start like that, factory horsepower and factory ECU is a big advantage.
13:42How impressed have you been with Lucas Coonan so far this year?
13:45Because obviously he was billed as the rookie.
13:48He'll say, I'm not a rookie.
13:49I'm just new to the class.
13:50I'm just new in MXGP.
13:52But a lot of mistakes last year trying to ride over himself
13:55and, you know, flexing his muscles against his teammate Kai DeWolf.
13:58Those two were going first and second in the championship.
14:00But do you think, and I've heard this being muted,
14:04when he had his arm injuries at the beginning of the year
14:08where he's just riding for points at the first couple of rounds,
14:11some people saying that that was probably the best thing
14:13that could have happened for him
14:14and that he had to ride his way easily into the championship chase.
14:18Whereas had he just come in and he was 100% healthy,
14:20he might have been that sort of explosion waiting to happen
14:22like he was in MX2.
14:24and those first three or four races
14:25by just, you know, being respectful of the fact
14:28he didn't want to crash
14:29and therefore was just trying to be a little bit smoother,
14:31that is now translated into the rider we're seeing now.
14:34I think there's two different ways to look at it in riders.
14:36How they adapt to the 450 can be different.
14:38You know, look at a rider like Justin Barsha.
14:40He took his 250 style and just continued on on the 450.
14:44High revving, high RPM.
14:46You look at a rider like RJ Hampshire in the U.S. this year,
14:49he's very similar to Lucas Coonan over the course of his career.
14:52Always on the edge of control.
14:53Great results, but also spectacular crashes accordingly.
14:57RJ has smoothed out in 450 Pro Motocross.
15:00I think the same thing applies for Lucas Coonan.
15:03They are riding the 450 differently.
15:05They're using the meat of the power.
15:06They're understanding how to go fast on a 450
15:08is not the same way you go fast on a 250.
15:11And I think the crashes and the erraticism
15:13have been removed from the racing accordingly.
15:17Ah, Bonacorsi.
15:18That looks like a bike issue to me.
15:20Yeah, so Bonacorsi, bottom end of the circuit.
15:21You may as well just stick it on the road there
15:23and drag it up to the outside.
15:26The three kilometers that it takes you back to the circuit.
15:29Tom Cock here under pressure in the 10th place
15:31from Iago Kirtz.
15:32Guadagnini on the Ducati just ahead of him.
15:34Just starting to break free ever so slightly.
15:36But this is great for Tom Cock on that machine
15:39because 24th in the championship.
15:42I haven't used to seeing him in around the top 10
15:44so far this year.
15:45Obviously new to the whole factory status thing
15:47in MXGP with the MRT Racing Beta team.
15:5315, 12th place a couple of rounds ago
15:55in one of the races.
15:56I think German, being German,
15:59it's a very German type track, hard pack, right?
16:01And also a good start.
16:02And also like it's close to the German border.
16:05You know, you're there in 20, 30 minutes
16:06at the closest point
16:07and there's a lot of Germans come over
16:09so it's almost like him riding a Toschenthal
16:10all over again.
16:11So a mistake there from Iago Kirtz
16:13is he pushes his Yamaha 450
16:16to the extremes to find his way past Cock.
16:20Watch this, it just, yeah,
16:21trying to get out of the turn early there
16:22and just call that Ruppwool.
16:25I walk it through the field here.
16:26The pace is really similar.
16:28You know, the guys 12, 13, 14,
16:30back to Adams Derrier doing 152s
16:32all the way up to fifth,
16:33all the way up to second place
16:35are doing 151s.
16:36So you're talking about a one second
16:37differential in lap time
16:38from second to 14th.
16:41So that means for a guy like Tom Cock,
16:42he gets a great start.
16:44The pace is very similar
16:45so that track position I keep going back to
16:47it is so critically important
16:48because if you can't go faster
16:49or slower than anybody else,
16:51where you start is going to
16:52highly indicate where you finish.
16:54Three laps in a row here
16:55to try to get around the outside
16:56and cut back on Cock there,
16:57but Cock having none of it
16:58on the B-Tethered machine.
17:02Great to see Guadagnini up there
17:03as well inside the top 10
17:04on the Ducati.
17:04He, again, another rider
17:05who had a great start to the season
17:07in Argentina.
17:09Looked like he was going to be
17:10a menace on that Ducati.
17:11Fourth overall, first time out.
17:13Got a fourth again round three
17:14when they went to Sanjardangeli
17:16in Europe,
17:17but then the wheels fell off.
17:18He got a couple of injuries
17:19and has failed to make the top 10
17:21since then.
17:22Maybe just the one time
17:23in Portugal.
17:27But not an easy place
17:28when it's drying out like this
17:30because there's so many unknowns now
17:31where you run the risk
17:33of just riding on marbles,
17:35trying to turn on marbles
17:36and just having that unfamiliarity
17:37at the front end,
17:39maybe even at the back end
17:39as well.
17:41But again,
17:42it's just starting
17:44to get back
17:45to some kind of form.
17:48There's gifting now
17:48starts to apply the pressure.
17:50Sorry,
17:51Goldeneuve starts to apply
17:52the pressure to gifting.
17:53This is the fight
17:54for sixth place.
17:56See,
17:56we're up to fifth,
17:57so he's been quietly,
17:58methodically working
17:59and going about his business.
18:00That's neither Ducati.
18:01because he was with Renault
18:04a moment ago in seventh,
18:05so he's obviously
18:05picked his way through
18:07and he's only up
18:08at 1.7 seconds
18:09down on Ruben Fernandez
18:10with 12 minutes
18:11plus two laps to go.
18:12So Jeremy C,
18:12we're not done yet.
18:14Watch this here.
18:16Got up the inside of gifting.
18:17Outside, inside.
18:18Again,
18:18wasn't pretty,
18:19but it was effective.
18:20Yep.
18:20Well,
18:20knowing where that section ends,
18:22if you're on the outside,
18:23you can carry that to the inside.
18:24You set up a pass
18:25basically two corners early.
18:29Vep right here.
18:30I mean,
18:30I think at this point
18:32he understands
18:32that second is what
18:33it's going to be,
18:34but this is not a lot of fun
18:38to sit behind Pantzer
18:39for this long.
18:40Jan Pantzer
18:41will be having a nosebleed.
18:42He's never been
18:42this elevated ever
18:44in MXGP,
18:45in MX2.
18:46This is incredible for Pantzer.
18:47My comments about Febvre
18:48should not be
18:50any sort of degradation
18:52on what Pantzer's doing.
18:53I just think for Pantzer,
18:55he's not thinking
18:56how great Pantzer's riding
18:57at the moment.
18:57He's thinking
18:58I should have passed him
18:5810 minutes ago.
18:59I should have passed him
19:00on lap one
19:01when I had the opportunity
19:01is what he should be thinking
19:02and really took the challenge
19:04to Lucas Koonen,
19:05but that's not happening
19:06on a circuit
19:06where Roman Febvre
19:07has won
19:08on three occasions.
19:10The only circuit
19:10that is won
19:10on three occasions
19:11and he's going
19:13after Jan Pantzer,
19:13a privateer.
19:14Did we just say that
19:15a privateer in MXGP?
19:17Gifting makes me nervous.
19:26Almost out the front door
19:27there at the entry
19:28to pit straight.
19:28We've seen guys
19:29go down there hard
19:30as well,
19:30and it is a hard place
19:31because we are
19:33pretty much on
19:33pebble-topped asphalt
19:36when you get onto
19:37the top of that
19:38straight there.
19:39Watch this here.
19:39You know what?
19:42He needed every ounce
19:43of upper body strength
19:43there,
19:44did gifting.
19:45Being tall
19:46helps there too.
19:48Oh yeah,
19:48if he was a
19:49Sasha Koonen type figure,
19:50he would have been
19:51still rolling
19:51and bouncing down the track.
19:53That seat would have
19:53pushed him
19:54much farther forward.
19:55He didn't have
19:56that extra...
19:57But this is also...
19:58Yeah, but also
19:59we did the pit lane
19:59interview a moment ago
20:00with Giuliano,
20:02the team manager,
20:03and he was saying
20:04hopefully the fitness
20:04can weigh up,
20:05but someone like
20:05gifting who's
20:06that stubborn,
20:08he'll hang on
20:08on there
20:10like a piece
20:10of wet washing
20:11for as long
20:12as possible.
20:12And we're seeing
20:13that now,
20:13that stubborn
20:14kind of nature.
20:15I'm in this,
20:16I can give myself
20:17another lap,
20:18another two,
20:19you know,
20:20and at some point
20:21it's just going to
20:21have to sort of
20:22breathe and maybe
20:22just go,
20:23okay,
20:24there's still race too,
20:25but you try telling
20:26that to the Viking
20:26and he's not
20:29having any of it.
20:29I do like the way
20:30he races.
20:31He doesn't care
20:31who he's racing against.
20:33He races everybody
20:34the same.
20:35There's no give
20:35just because you're
20:36the points leader
20:37or whoever.
20:40Kunin,
20:41you know what,
20:41he had to wrestle
20:42with this bank
20:42in MX2 last year.
20:44That's another one there,
20:46but the other one
20:46in MX2
20:47came off worse.
20:49The bank won.
20:52About 700 RPM
20:54through that corner.
20:57At most.
20:59Yep.
21:00Yeah,
21:00you can barely hear it.
21:01It's almost very
21:02Tim Geiser-esque,
21:02isn't it?
21:03You know,
21:03the Honda that Tim
21:04was racing on
21:05early this year
21:06when he was,
21:07you know,
21:07sort of dominating
21:08the championship podium
21:09in the first five rounds.
21:11Well,
21:11think about the contrast
21:12of the way
21:12Lucas wrote a 250.
21:13See you as down,
21:14bottom of the hill,
21:15there's pit lane
21:15off to the right.
21:16so Jeremy C.
21:18So Jeremy C.
21:18out of fifth place.
21:21Calvin Valandrin here
21:23trying to get his way
21:24around Quentin Prunier,
21:26the newcomer,
21:27and he does.
21:29He's down there
21:29in 17th place,
21:31Calvin Valandrin.
21:31He was on the podium
21:32in Finland,
21:33third overall
21:33two weekends ago.
21:34Yeah,
21:35well,
21:36when you're trying
21:37to change
21:39the fact that people
21:40think you're great
21:40in the sand,
21:41you have to ride well
21:42at tracks like this
21:43and we'll see him
21:45back in the front
21:45next weekend,
21:46I'm sure.
21:47He's capable,
21:48but there's only one way
21:49to change a stigma
21:50about being good
21:51at one particular thing
21:52and that's to do well
21:52when the conditions
21:53are different from that.
21:55Robert Favre having
21:56another look
21:57at Jan Panza.
22:02Ruben Fernandes
22:03getting closer
22:04and Favre can't afford
22:05to sit there
22:07behind the Slovenian
22:09on that KTM
22:09for another moment
22:11because the 17th
22:12will be closing in on them.
22:14That's the first time
22:15Panza has looked
22:15over his shoulder
22:16and saw the threat
22:17there from the Kawasaki man.
22:22Inside move coming here,
22:24double his way into the turn.
22:25There you go.
22:25comes up short
22:26and makes a mistake
22:28and Fernandes
22:28all of a sudden
22:29on the back
22:29of the Frenchman.
22:35Yeah, Fernandes
22:35is basically thinking,
22:37listen,
22:37if you're not going
22:38to pass him,
22:39I'm going to pass him
22:39and you at the same time
22:41because you can see
22:43that it's starting
22:43to stack up
22:44behind this group.
22:47But second place,
22:48third place,
22:48fourth place,
22:49Vian Panza.
22:50He was fifth overall
22:50in China last year
22:52at the penultimate round
22:53as his best ever
22:55grand prix finish
22:56in MXGP.
23:00And that was a fifth
23:00in the second race
23:02there as well.
23:03So that's been his highest
23:04race finish individually.
23:05Watch this here.
23:07Triples his way in,
23:08Fevra,
23:08but there is a little hook
23:09where you can just double
23:10just pass that tear-off
23:11but look,
23:12he comes up short there.
23:14And I wonder
23:14if that was just
23:15half commitment
23:15because he was expecting
23:16Panza to swing across.
23:19Yeah.
23:19So he just backed out
23:20of that at the last minute
23:21and almost lost the position
23:24but he could have almost
23:25taken them both down
23:26as well in that instance.
23:27So it could have been
23:27a lot worse.
23:29Panza takes this inside.
23:31Panza's using the same
23:32though.
23:32This is where he was
23:33trying to get gifting.
23:33Back to the drawing board.
23:39Maxime Renault.
23:41Monster Energy Yamaha
23:42Factory MXGP
23:43back from injury as well
23:44and just recovering
23:45from injuries
23:45pretty much the whole season
23:47since round two.
23:48Koza
23:48before that
23:49when he broke his hand
23:50had surgery two days
23:51before the GP
23:52got second in the qualifying race
23:53and was doing his best
23:54to keep this championship
23:55aspirations on track
23:57but then that big hit
23:58in Switzerland
23:59him and Guilla
24:00remember fell on the same jump
24:01different laps
24:01that messed his hip up
24:03and it's just been trying
24:05to get stubborn nature
24:06gifting and Renault
24:08they're two peas
24:08out of the same pod
24:09you know they like to race
24:10they race hard
24:11don't care about the number
24:12on the show in front of them
24:13and they don't know
24:15when to stop
24:15that's the problem
24:16and good to see Renault
24:18there and even though
24:19it's seventh place for him
24:21that is not a bad place
24:22to start back.
24:23See that tire
24:24breaking loose
24:24up the hill.
24:27He won on a scoop
24:28here a couple of years ago
24:28didn't he?
24:29Roma Favre.
24:29Panzer deserves a lot
24:35of credit here
24:35oh massive amount of credit
24:37because even if Favre goes by
24:38and Fernandes goes by
24:40he's still going to finish
24:41fourth
24:41which is an all-time best
24:43for him
24:43well this has been two laps
24:44now
24:45that Favre hasn't been able
24:46to close
24:47he can't even get back
24:48to his rear wheel
24:49which is really just a
24:50testament to how well
24:51the Panzer's riding
24:52nothing else
24:53two Belgians about to go
24:54at it here
24:54as they chase down
24:56Mattia Guadagnini
24:58so we got
24:58easy move
25:00around the outside there
25:01Brent Vandonek
25:02on Iago Kiercz
25:03Kiercz was leading
25:04going into the first turn
25:05so a good drive
25:07through the waves
25:07and a good pass
25:08through turn two
25:09watch this here
25:09from Vandonek
25:10gets around the outside
25:11shouldn't happen there
25:13you got to protect
25:14there
25:14so Vandonek
25:17just getting his head
25:17down
25:17he's gone up to
25:1811th lap ago
25:19and on the same lap
25:20towards the end
25:21of that lap
25:22up to 10th
25:23with this move
25:24there on Kiercz
25:25Belgian Grand Prix
25:33Lommel
25:34different contrast
25:35completely in terms
25:36of track nature
25:38Lommel flat
25:40on a Friday
25:41when you turn up
25:41but sand
25:44not hard slick
25:45and hilly like this
25:46you've been there
25:49before Lommel
25:49oh yeah
25:50couple times now
25:51and you'll be there
25:52next week as well
25:53yeah if hell
25:55had a sand track
25:56it would be Lommel
25:57it's a test
25:59it really is a test
26:00so the two Brits
26:03battling down here
26:0413th and 14th
26:05Adam Steric
26:06on the Chambers KTM
26:08and Ben Watson
26:09but Steric
26:10who's coming into
26:12a bit of form
26:12at the moment
26:13actually
26:13because he was
26:14fifth or sixth
26:15in the qualifying race
26:16in Finland
26:17and he had a decent
26:18qualifying yesterday
26:20or good times yesterday
26:21throughout the day
26:23gaining in confidence
26:25towards the end
26:26of this
26:262025 campaign
26:28where Chambers
26:29have just pretty much
26:30let him say
26:30you know what
26:31you want to go
26:31full season GPs
26:32yeah we'll do that
26:33we'll support you
26:33whatever
26:34but it's not easy
26:36being another
26:38privateer rider
26:39privateer team
26:39yes he's got MX2
26:40pedigree
26:41and European
26:41championship pedigree
26:42but when you're not
26:43in it for a couple
26:44of years on and off
26:44you soon lose that
26:46pace
26:46so picking that up
26:47and getting back
26:48up to speed
26:48and getting back
26:49into the swing of
26:50things
26:50really sort of
26:51rolling his sleeves
26:51at 13th
26:52there's not a
26:53disgrace for Adam
26:53Steric
26:54and it's really
26:55sort of
26:56warming to
26:57how this
26:58championship campaign
26:59is starting down
26:59he had his best
27:00Grand Prix finish
27:01overall 16th in
27:02Finland
27:02two weeks ago
27:03and he's looking
27:06to improve on that
27:07here in Lockett
27:07Czech Republic
27:08doing a good job
27:09at the moment
27:1013th
27:10in the latter
27:11stage of this race
27:12hey Ben
27:14fellow countryman
27:15there
27:15Watson
27:19was pushing the
27:20front on the
27:21downhill there
27:21and he's now
27:22going for the
27:23jugular
27:23nips up the
27:24inside
27:24kept it clean
27:25those two are
27:26good mates
27:26actually
27:26but even still
27:27they race hard
27:28on the track
27:28Watson
27:30fires by
27:30moves into
27:31that 13th
27:32place
27:32but Watson
27:32on the
27:33downhill
27:33towards
27:34air
27:34he was
27:35fighting
27:35that
27:35front
27:35end
27:36and he
27:36was gaining
27:36momentum
27:37as
27:38Steric was
27:38breaking
27:39it was a
27:40nice move
27:41by Watson
27:41up that
27:41hill
27:42so difficult
27:45on the edge
27:45of the tire
27:46there to find
27:46traction
27:47Jeremy
27:54Siwa
27:54an expensive
27:56mistake
27:57from him
27:57from 5th
27:58down to
27:588th
27:58three laps
27:59to go
28:00but the
28:02Aruba
28:03dot
28:03IT
28:03Ducati
28:04rider
28:04just keeps
28:06plugging
28:06away
28:07four seconds
28:07down
28:07on
28:08Maxime
28:08Renault
28:08it's getting
28:11serious
28:11for
28:12Fevra
28:12now
28:12he's
28:12got to
28:13get
28:13to
28:13the
28:13rear
28:14wheel
28:14panther
28:14has
28:15to
28:15yeah
28:16I mean
28:17you've
28:17got
28:17contrasting
28:18days
28:19as well
28:19haven't
28:19you
28:19with
28:20Mattis
28:20Valan
28:21winning
28:21the MX2
28:21qualifying
28:22race
28:22on
28:22Saturday
28:23Fevra
28:23winning
28:23the MXGP
28:24qualifying
28:25race
28:25Antti
28:26Piranun
28:26and everybody
28:26in that
28:27Kawasaki team
28:27couldn't be
28:28more joyous
28:29but all of
28:29a sudden
28:29you've got
28:30a situation
28:30where
28:31yeah you
28:32gained a
28:32point yesterday
28:33but you're
28:33going to lose
28:33five today
28:34as things
28:35stay now
28:36with Kunan
28:36leading
28:37and Fevra
28:37there in
28:38third
28:38and struggling
28:38to find
28:39his way
28:39past
28:39the privateer
28:40Jan Panther
28:41and the
28:42tough
28:42part
28:42is
28:43you
28:43start
28:43to run
28:43out
28:43of
28:43ideas
28:44of
28:44where
28:44to
28:44make
28:44a
28:44move
28:45because
28:45this
28:45was
28:46the
28:46place
28:46where
28:46he passed
28:46gifting
28:47he's not
28:48going to that
28:49far right side
28:50like he was
28:50before but I
28:51think he just
28:51realized it's not
28:52quick enough
28:52so now he's
28:53he really has to
28:54find a game plan
28:55in the last three
28:56laps here so
28:56where can I make
28:57a pass because
28:58Panthers
28:58seen where
29:00Fevra wants to
29:01make a move and
29:01he's been able to
29:02counter it every
29:02time
29:02and every time you
29:05speak to him he
29:05still has that
29:06belief
29:09if he makes
29:10good starts
29:10well here he is
29:11making a good
29:11start and he's
29:12doing exactly that
29:13he's even better
29:13than that he's in
29:14second place
29:14but for how much
29:15longer because
29:16as he hits a big
29:18square edge on the
29:19uphill there
29:19Fevra getting a
29:20little bit closer
29:20he's going to try
29:21and chuck it in
29:23around the outside
29:24Panthers knows it
29:24is there but can
29:25he keep him back
29:26yes he can
29:26he's got to make
29:29it happen here
29:29this is the closest
29:30he's been in ten
29:31minutes
29:31there it is
29:34finally
29:35Fevra up the
29:36inside of the
29:36Slovenian
29:37who now gets
29:38pushed back to
29:39third
29:39clear track for
29:40Fevra but the
29:41bad news is
29:42we're two laps
29:43to go just over
29:44two laps to go
29:44at this stage
29:45where he is on
29:46the racetrack
29:47and he's 18
29:50seconds down
29:50on Kunin
29:51you can tell
29:53that off
29:54effort has
29:54taken its toll
29:55because
29:55Fernandez
29:56quickly ran
29:57the outside
29:57as well
29:57Panthers now
29:58down to
29:59fourth
29:59look at the
30:00body language
30:00there from
30:01Panthers
30:01this is
30:02incredible
30:02effort
30:03he's given
30:03everything
30:04to hold
30:05Fevra back
30:05for 30
30:06minutes
30:06it's like
30:07a 5,000
30:08meter runner
30:08going for
30:09record pace
30:10and then
30:10everything good
30:11until the
30:11final 200
30:12meters
30:12and then
30:12finally
30:13the legs
30:13give up
30:14well
30:16three laps
30:17I want to see
30:17how much time
30:19we had on the
30:20clock
30:20because Kunin
30:22went through
30:23very very tight
30:24on the clock
30:25because we're still
30:25three laps to go
30:26here
30:26because he was
30:2918 seconds
30:30ahead of
30:31the guys
30:32behind him
30:32so he was
30:33making his
30:33way towards
30:34the finish
30:35line
30:36when
30:36Fevra was
30:38making his
30:39move
30:39in and around
30:40that area
30:41just made
30:41his move
30:42certainly
30:42when they
30:43got into
30:43that first
30:43turn
30:44don't want
30:46any of
30:46those
30:47this is
30:48also good
30:48for River
30:48Fernandez
30:49don't forget
30:49good showing
30:51for that
30:5127th generation
30:52watch this
30:54oh yeah
30:55six seconds
30:55on the clock
30:56seven seconds
30:56on the clock
30:57so plenty
30:57of time
30:58plenty of time
30:59he's just
31:02trying to
31:02turn the
31:03screw
31:03isn't he
31:03trying to
31:04give
31:04Fernandez
31:05an extra
31:05lap
31:05to close
31:07down
31:07on Fevra
31:07well
31:07these are
31:08fun moments
31:09when you're
31:10when you have
31:10a you know
31:1118 second
31:12lead
31:12you're kind
31:13of riding
31:14around
31:14you know
31:15it seems
31:15like oh man
31:16that would
31:16have been
31:16nice
31:17that one
31:17last lap
31:17he's enjoying
31:18this in
31:19the moment
31:19this is
31:19low pressure
31:20winning a
31:21GP
31:22this is
31:22these are
31:23moments
31:23he'll remember
31:24for a long
31:24time
31:25they don't
31:25come this
31:25easy
31:26very often
31:26Isaac
31:28gifting
31:28enjoying
31:28this moment
31:29but not
31:29thinking
31:30that it's
31:30easy at
31:31all
31:31because
31:32Jeremy
31:32Seawer
31:32has caught
31:33back to
31:33him
31:33and
31:33this is
31:34going to
31:34be a
31:34fight
31:35for
31:35seventh
31:35place
31:35once
31:36again
31:36separated
31:37by
31:37nothing
31:38just
31:38ahead
31:39of their
31:39Maxime
31:39Renault
31:39in sixth
31:40so
31:43Jeremy
31:43Seawer
31:43definitely
31:44got that
31:44Ducati
31:45working
31:46very very
31:46well
31:46this
31:46weekend
31:47in these
31:48kind
31:48of
31:48conditions
31:48yep
31:49and
31:49just
31:50look at
31:50you know
31:51you contrast
31:51all these
31:52other guys
31:52all the
31:52urgency
31:53and aggression
31:53you see
31:54Lucas here
31:55lower RPM
31:56taking his
31:57own time
31:57but he's
31:58turning the
31:59same lap
31:59times
31:59is the
32:00thing
32:00you know
32:00it's
32:01just
32:01it's so
32:02important
32:02to
32:03where you
32:04are in
32:05the racetrack
32:05you know
32:05these guys
32:06are going
32:06the same
32:06pace
32:06but they
32:07look
32:07completely
32:07different
32:07body
32:08language
32:08their
32:09heart
32:09rate
32:09is
32:09probably
32:1030
32:10beats
32:10higher
32:11you
32:11know
32:11it's
32:11just
32:11a
32:12completely
32:12different
32:12race
32:13for
32:13them
32:13Fernandez
32:14going
32:18I think
32:21it is
32:22isn't it
32:22just around
32:23the corner
32:24there's
32:24Panza
32:25and
32:26Koldenhoff
32:27so Koldenhoff
32:27looking to
32:28make moves
32:29with two
32:30to go
32:30there's
32:32Fernandez
32:32the next
32:33couple of
32:33riders
32:33after the
32:33back
32:34markers
32:34there you
32:34go
32:34the
32:34orange
32:35of
32:35Panza
32:36Koldenhoff
32:37using that
32:37line
32:37and the
32:38Hoth
32:38going to
32:39the
32:39outside
32:40again
32:42the factory
32:43riders have
32:43come through
32:44Kunin was
32:44already there
32:44leading the
32:45way
32:45but
32:45Fevra
32:46Kawasaki
32:46Hondas
32:47Fernandez
32:47Koldenhoff
32:48knocking on
32:49the door
32:49on that
32:49factory
32:49Fantic
32:50but still
32:54a great
32:54effort
32:55from
32:57Panza
32:57the good
33:00news is
33:01he's going
33:02to finish
33:02in the
33:03top five
33:05the bad
33:06news is
33:06he's got
33:06another race
33:07to go
33:07and how
33:08much
33:08has he
33:08extended
33:09himself
33:09you know
33:10expended
33:11that energy
33:11ahead of
33:12that race
33:12but when
33:13you're in
33:13there like
33:14that
33:14fighting
33:14for that
33:15second
33:15position
33:15potentially
33:16you give
33:16absolutely
33:17everything
33:17brent
33:18van
33:18donek
33:18in
33:18ninth
33:19place
33:19it's
33:19just
33:19come
33:19up
33:20that
33:20he
33:20did
33:21not
33:21come
33:21to
33:22a
33:22full
33:22stop
33:22in
33:23pit
33:23lane
33:23and
33:24he's
33:24been
33:24disqualified
33:25for that
33:25so if
33:26you come
33:26into pit
33:26lane for
33:27anything
33:27you can't
33:27just ride
33:28through
33:28so I don't
33:31know why
33:31he's gone
33:31off there
33:32or
33:32you know
33:33what I mean
33:33so he's
33:34obviously
33:34gone off track
33:34maybe
33:35but it's
33:36very difficult
33:37to sort
33:37of do
33:39that
33:39so unless
33:39he came
33:39in for a pit
33:40stop
33:40the team
33:40weren't
33:40ready
33:41and then
33:41he just
33:41carried
33:41on
33:42going
33:42through
33:42or
33:42I don't
33:44know
33:44but that's
33:45a shame
33:46because he
33:46was working
33:47hard there
33:47so here
33:47is going
33:48to pick
33:48up
33:48ninth
33:48and
33:50van
33:50donek
33:50is
33:50going
33:50to get
33:50disqualified
33:51there
33:51for failing
33:53to come
33:54to a pit
33:54stop
33:54an actual
33:55stop
33:55in pit
33:56lane
33:56a lap
33:58to go
33:58Koonen
34:00now 15
34:00seconds
34:00clear
34:01he's just
34:01starting to
34:01back it
34:02off
34:02look
34:0252's
34:03for him
34:03forever
34:03in the
34:0349's
34:04damage
34:05was already
34:05done
34:05in the
34:06first
34:0616
34:07laps
34:07where he
34:08failed
34:08to get
34:08past
34:09Jan
34:11Fernandez
34:13third
34:13pants
34:14a fourth
34:14cold
34:14and off
34:15still
34:15there
34:15in fifth
34:15not much
34:16in it
34:16between
34:16those
34:16two
34:16but
34:17gifting
34:17and
34:17Siwa
34:18fighting
34:19over
34:19that
34:19seventh
34:20place
34:20to say
34:22that
34:22he's
34:22been
34:23off
34:23on the
34:24sidelines
34:25Isaac
34:25gifting
34:26for what
34:29yeah
34:29three races
34:30that he
34:30missed
34:30he didn't
34:31go to
34:31Finland
34:31as well
34:32after
34:33coming back
34:34for two
34:34or three
34:34races
34:35and then
34:35it's
34:36not easy
34:36when you
34:37that's
34:37sporadic
34:37in
34:38your race
34:38program
34:39to come
34:40back
34:40here
34:40just
34:41get
34:41stuck
34:41in
34:42finish
34:43top
34:43ten
34:44yeah
34:44he just
34:45races
34:45headstrong
34:46though
34:46you know
34:47that's
34:47he doesn't
34:48seem to
34:49care about
34:49the situation
34:50or who he's
34:50racing against
34:51or if he's
34:52been out
34:52I think
34:54it's just
34:55in his
34:55personality
34:55to push
34:56regardless of
34:57the situation
34:57you can kind
34:58of see that
34:58in his
34:59racecraft
34:59too
35:00talk about
35:01championship
35:01positions
35:02third in the
35:02championship
35:02glenn colden
35:03off
35:03at 41
35:04oh
35:05fevers dropped
35:06down to
35:06fifth place
35:07that is a
35:08costly mistake
35:09that is an
35:09expensive error
35:10so Pence
35:11is going to
35:11finish third
35:12colden
35:12off fourth
35:12ever fifth
35:13that's going to be
35:14a gift as well
35:15for a colden
35:16off of another
35:16couple of points
35:17because fernandez
35:18who's his closest
35:19rival in the
35:19championship
35:20he's second
35:20colden off is
35:21now fourth
35:22rather than
35:22fifth
35:22lukas kunin
35:24up hill
35:25he wins
35:26race
35:27one
35:27wins
35:28comfortably
35:28as well
35:29and he
35:30will look forward
35:32to race
35:32two
35:3311 race
35:34wins
35:35now
35:35in his
35:36rookie season
35:36celebrating
35:39no
35:39or
35:39farming
35:39all
35:41business
35:41we're all
35:42over it
35:42all
35:42business
35:43all
35:43I'm just
35:44over it
35:45or farming
35:45second for
35:46Fernandez
35:47Pantzer
35:48what a great
35:49finish for him
35:50in third
35:50colden off
35:51fourth
35:51but an
35:53expensive race
35:54for Roma
35:55Fevra
35:55who moves
35:56from second
35:57to fifth
35:58on the
35:59final lap
35:59congrats
36:01you on
36:02Pantzer
36:02that's amazing
36:03that is
36:03huge
36:03for Pantzer
36:04so the
36:10final lap
36:11then
36:11Roma
36:11Fevra
36:12where was
36:12that
36:13mistake
36:13and kunin
36:21will
36:21absolutely
36:22welcome
36:22that
36:22look
36:23we're
36:26down
36:26to
36:26seven
36:26points
36:27as we
36:27go
36:28into
36:28race
36:28two
36:28between
36:29Fevra
36:29and
36:29Kunin
36:30someone's
36:33puckering
36:34up
36:34yeah
36:34that
36:36is so
36:37unfebrile
36:38like also
36:38lap to go
36:40to make
36:40that mistake
36:40how much
