00:00Deegan e seu timeate Nate Thrasher batalhando for the hole shot.
00:10Thrasher no 41.
00:11Has it, look at the 16 of the inside.
00:14Tom VL and the Australian Kayden Manier.
00:17Second Pro Race going forward as well.
00:19I've been waiting for this to happen.
00:21Good to see Nate out front and quickly as that.
00:24Hey, Deegan moves his way up to the second position.
00:26Então, a great start for the star NG, uh, pros, excuse me, Yamaha, these guys are out front, so many, so many things going on.
00:33Yeah, well, one, two, three, hard to call them all, yes, it's now Thrasher, Deegan, and Minear, we mentioned Bial, a good start by Drew Adams, good to see the rookie right there, and I think he just made some more passes.
00:45Yeah, Drew made his way around, Caden Minear actually looked like Tom Bial, excuse me, and good start for him, both these rookies up here trying to do some thing, Caden Minear, which is a young one,
00:55and last weekend was his first race, so got his teammates, which he rides with every single, every day during the week, let's see what he can do with it.
01:03So watch Deegan, who is right there battling, trying to find where the pressure was, those lines JT was talking about, that outside, inside, so wide, this racetrack,
01:15and there it is.
01:16They worked on some of this, it looks like Hayden's going to try to go around the outside, it's going to funnel back down, let's see if Nate can close that off, a lot of ruts down here, which you can't see,
01:24but number one, it's up the inside already, and into the lead, already, so Deegan to the number one spot, back section of the track, about to emerge at the top of the hill.
01:36Yeah, it looks like we lost Caden Minear, it looks like he goes down, and that moves Drew Adams up to third place, so good to see the rookie up here.
01:43Yeah, there you see the green machine, the monster, pro circuit Kawasaki in third, what's the goal for Deegan now, get away?
01:51Yeah, I mean, I think after last weekend, going 2-2, which is a great day for most, but not good enough for Hayden Deegan, this is exactly where he wants to be,
01:59and when you go back to last year, he got bad starts, so this is new to him, normally this is after 15 minutes, but I suspect Hayden Deegan is going to throw down the gauntlet right here,
02:07try to get a little gap and manage it from that point. Well, here's this interesting, it's the first time Deegan has led the first lap of a race this year, he's been awfully patient early in these races,
02:18and then works his way forward today, out front early. Katie?
02:21Well, the team was telling me that Hayden Deegan had that kind of pressure off of his back, guys, it was like that winning streak was gone,
02:28and so he didn't have to worry about having that perfect season, but in fact, that's something that I think is really interesting, Stu,
02:34from a writer's perspective, the fact that that streak is over for him, doesn't he maybe want to start that streak again and see when he can, you know,
02:41kind of come alive with it? Yeah, he almost came off the track with it right there, but yeah, I think for Hayden,
02:46it's one thing losing a winning streak, you know, on your own mistake, but it's another one getting beat,
02:51and I think with him, you know, it's pretty easy for him to refocus because, oh, the way it happened last week,
02:56he was trying to chase down chances, we were watching Levi try to get around his teammate right here for a third place,
03:02but back to Hayden, he takes a look back, I think he's just easy to just go back out there and win,
03:07because that's where he belongs at, and it's a great way to start another streak up by being out front.
03:11He saw Kitchin make the move on Adams, you mentioned, James, this is at least better,
03:17this pro circuit team, they have been fast, but they have not been able to get good starts together.
03:22Oh, that's actually Hamaker up there, so we've lost both Minear and Drew Adams,
03:27the two rookies who started well, first lap not kind to them, but anyway,
03:32this is at least some progress off the gate to see Kitchin and Hamaker third and fourth early.
03:37Yeah, I mean, this would be a great start, I mean, we saw Levi finish the motos last weekend,
03:42he was really confident, one, how he finished that moto, but his fitness, everything was coming good,
03:47and the weekend before he was able to get third, so I like when I see Levi Kitchen opening up the kitchen
03:52for business for free, only problem is he's got to chase down at number one,
03:55which is looking back already trying to get away from him.
03:58And then there's Nate Thrasher in second, a bad weekend last weekend, a crash the weekend before that
04:04at Hangtown, it has been a very rough start to pro motocross, he's running well,
04:08and now it looks like 16 of the owls starting to come back to life at Orange on the Red Bull KTM.
04:14Yeah, we heard Seth talk before the moto, he has a shoulder injury, so with this racetrack,
04:19these downhills are probably going to be really tough for him, so if you see him starting to struggle,
04:23these guys have been able to catch up on him as he's moving downhill,
04:26you've got to believe that's probably of that shoulder, so it's going to be a tough day for Nate,
04:29and if he can just survive these opening laps, that shoulder will loosen up,
04:32and then he'll be able to maybe catch a toe with these guys.
04:36Now, meanwhile, Muneer, who was up there early, is 15th, and Drew Adams is 23rd.
04:43Muneer, you mentioned that he turned pro last week, he still had his amateur suspension,
04:47because he had not ridden the pro bike, it was such a late call-up,
04:50and then they had a lot of rain at home, so this is actually his debut racing
04:54with the real pro-level stiffer suspension, would have been interesting to see what he could do.
04:59But then the crash after running second early, he followed Villal here in fifth.
05:04Yeah, well, just, you know, speaking on that, I know that's a big change for, you know,
05:07anyone to make that change, because it is a lot different amateur bumps compared to the pro bump.
05:12If you're watching some passes being made right here, I think that's Casey Cochran, I believe.
05:16And Jalik Smoll, yeah, 22, yep, Smoll, welcome back.
05:21Yeah, when I see that 22, I think I'm aboard Chad Reed, so, you know, good to see Jalik out here.
05:26You know, a lot of things are probably going to happen for him fast, because he's been out.
05:30But, yeah, just that suspension change, as Katie Veneer has to deal with,
05:34it's going to be a big change, because the amateur bumps are a lot smaller.
05:36So, making that change here, not having a lot of time,
05:39I'm sure it's going to be a lot to get used to it for the rookie.
05:42Let's see if he can move forward.
05:43As you're watching the Honda teammates here, Shimoda and Hymas.
05:47Hymas has had great starts this year, three hole shocks and six motos,
05:50but, sorry, didn't get the jump in this one, JT.
05:54Yeah, speaking of that, Luigi, you know, talking about the jump,
05:57it seems like so many of these guys have been so start dependent,
06:01and most of the time it's been for the net positive.
06:03Shimoda had such a strong start to the series with reasonably good starts.
06:07Hymas, we saw how powerful that could be last weekend,
06:10but the one rider who really hasn't been subject to any of that has been Hayden Deegan.
06:14Then you glance up at the points, and you start to understand why he has a 25-point lead.
06:18And also, James, I just wanted to throw out there the phrase,
06:21my boy Chad Reed is something I never, ever thought you would say in this lifetime,
06:25so well done on that one.
06:27Everybody's changed. It's Father's Day weekend, Chad. What up?
06:30Everybody's got to change, but, you know, nonetheless,
06:32I think this is what we talked about in Race Day a lot when you talk about Chance Hymas,
06:35to be a title threat, I think it's important for him to move his way up through these guys
06:40because the only way you're going to be a title threat for Hayden,
06:43you might not be able to beat him this first moto because Hayden's out front,
06:46but you've got to finish behind him,
06:48and the only way you can be able to do that is to be able to pass these group of riders,
06:51and as JT said, a lot of these guys are star dependent,
06:54so let's see if Chance that 1-1 gave him that confidence
06:56as his teammates trying to get around Casey Cochran right in front of him.
07:01Cochran on that Rockstar Gas Gas, he is not making it easy on Shimoda.
07:05No, Casey's been riding really good.
07:06I ran into him at the airport, and he said just being up front,
07:10he's starting to learn that pace, and coming off the injury, it's tough for you
07:13if you're not out here racing all year long, which he hasn't,
07:17he's going to get confidence, and he's going to be hard to pace to beat,
07:20and Joe Shimoda's finding that right now.
07:23Bottom box is the leader, Deegan, who's opened it up to 5.5 seconds over Thrasher,
07:28Kitchen in third.
07:30A little bit further back is this battle, Hymas on the 10,
07:33and Marchbank, so yeah, yeah, unfortunately for Garrett,
07:38this has been a similar story all year long,
07:40and he's been riding really good to be able to make his way up,
07:43at least a lot of times in the top five,
07:44finishing third overall last weekend,
07:46great second moto getting eighth after going down in the first corner,
07:49but can't start in the back if you're trying to get up
07:52and win these races,
07:53and maybe some of the results doesn't show how good
07:55Garrett's been riding all year long.
07:57A little bit in defense of that Pro Circuit team
07:59with the bad starts, Adams, Kitchen,
08:01and Marchbanks,
08:04they might be the three heaviest guys in this field,
08:06Kitchen really tall,
08:08the other two are pretty stout,
08:09as Shimoda and Cochran continue to battle,
08:12nice line by the 30 of Shimoda.
08:14Yeah, that was beautiful,
08:15and that's the one thing that I love about here at Mount Morris
08:18is that it opens up a lot of corners,
08:20especially if it's not rutted,
08:22these guys can move around.
08:24And Shimoda makes a pass,
08:25has for Hymas right behind them,
08:27give you a replay,
08:28oh, Shimoda down to the bottom of the hill.
08:30Yeah, easily can happen,
08:32but you can't tell on TV how steep that corner is,
08:34and Joe was just trying to get down to that inside rut
08:36because there's a really good inside rut
08:38that these guys can bank off.
08:40It's going to be costly for Joe.
08:42Now, as a Folland and Masterpool battle pass,
08:45Shimoda will show you Hymas' start here in the box.
08:49Yeah, we were watching for the overhead shot,
08:51and you can tell off the gate he didn't get the jump,
08:53and when he didn't get the jump,
08:54he got closed off,
08:55and that's all she rode.
08:57So now he's going to be a salmon swimming upstream
08:59at this point trying to move around.
09:01And here's Shimoda's crash.
09:03Yeah, Joe's right here.
09:04He's trying to get,
09:04it looks like he's trying to move over to the inside.
09:07You can see his front tire just pops over that rut.
09:10There's one where a chance,
09:11there was an inside rut that Joe was trying to get to.
09:14Didn't happen.
09:15Easy way to lose the front end there,
09:16and that's going to be costly for him.
09:17JT.
09:20Yeah, just watching that Joe's a motor crash.
09:22We saw a similar type of crash from Cooper Webb
09:24in multi-practice.
09:26Same corner, different line,
09:28but it's coming down that hill.
09:29It's so steep there,
09:30and they're putting so much pressure on the front end there.
09:33If you lose traction even for a split second
09:35with that front tire, you end up on your head.
09:37So those guys have to be really mindful in those sections
09:39to really practice their technique,
09:42get their body English,
09:43and really weight that front tire
09:45to make sure that they don't slip at all.
09:46Yeah, absolutely, and what makes it even more difficult,
09:48a lot of these corners are off-camber,
09:50and what that means is, like,
09:51if you're walking,
09:52all of us have walked up the side of a hill.
09:54Well, if you just try to walk up a hill
09:55and then try to walk sideways,
09:57that's what off-camber it is.
09:58So your feet are always slipping away.
10:00That's what happens to Joe.
10:01Losing that front end goes down.
10:04Easy to happen.
10:05A couple of battles to watch here.
10:06You've got the teammates,
10:08Kitchen and Hammaker in the bottom box,
10:09battling for third,
10:11trying to close on Thrasher,
10:13and in this top box,
10:15that's Bolin versus Masterpol,
10:17who's last year's winner of this race,
10:20and then Shimoda.
10:21Yeah, and earlier,
10:22I was talking about Ty,
10:23if he can,
10:24excuse it, not Ty,
10:25but Seth,
10:25if he can just hold on
10:26and get that shoulder warmed up,
10:28maybe he'll be able to catch a toe,
10:29and it looks like that's what he's doing,
10:31because behind him,
10:31he's got Tom Biao right behind him,
10:34so they're kind of pushing the pace.
10:37Unfortunately,
10:37everybody almost seven seconds behind the leader,
10:39Hayden Deegan,
10:39which is just trying to run away from him.
10:41Now, at the bottom,
10:42you see Kitchen has bridged the gap
10:44to second place Thrasher.
10:47That was a nice move
10:48that was just made right there.
10:52This is going to be interesting
10:54as Kitchen moves up, Katie.
10:55Yeah, it would be.
10:56He knows that he has the pace.
10:57He actually told me earlier today
10:59it was a start that he really needed to work on,
11:01but his opening lap speed,
11:03those two combined,
11:04if he could get those dialed in,
11:06he knew he had the pace
11:07to get the job done.
11:08And something to take into consideration, though,
11:10is he's had a mental coach
11:11that he said has changed the game for him.
11:13He also has put on a lot of weight,
11:15and that's actually been helpful.
11:16You guys were talking about him
11:17and Garrett earlier
11:18about the weight
11:19and the heaviness of them.
11:20He knows that's one of,
11:21actually, the things he's been working on
11:23and one of the important factors
11:24for him as well
11:25in hopes that he can get around here,
11:27Nate Thrasher.
11:29Definitely getting stronger, Katie.
11:30He just makes the move here,
11:31James, for second.
11:32Yeah, well, you can see that pass.
11:33Nate was trying to get back to the inside,
11:35but because these corners are so off camera,
11:36and Nate couldn't get back towards it
11:38to close that door off,
11:39but nice pass by Levi.
11:40And when these guys are talking about
11:41putting on weights,
11:42they're talking about putting on muscle,
11:43and we're not talking about
11:44going from 150 pounds to 170.
11:47It's just about putting on weight
11:48in the right position.
11:49So Levi Kitchen,
11:51definitely not figured out,
11:52whatever it is,
11:53the mental culture,
11:53whatever it is,
11:54he's starting to figure that part out.
11:55So maybe he can cut into
11:57Hayden Deegan's league.
11:57As for Thrasher there in third,
12:01I said it's been a slow start to the season.
12:03His best moto finish so far this year is 18th,
12:07and now he's running third.
12:09Yeah, I mean,
12:10that just showed you where to start.
12:11Things are starting to come quickly for Nate.
12:14It's weird,
12:15because if you haven't been up here,
12:16that pace really,
12:18it happens fast,
12:19and in this field,
12:21as you can see,
12:21there's a guy behind him,
12:22there's another guy behind the other guy,
12:24there's always going.
12:25So Nate,
12:26when things start coming unrattled,
12:28there's about five guys
12:29that you can instantly get past,
12:30and then it just starts to go downhill.
12:32So Nate knows how to,
12:33he's won races before,
12:34and Supercross,
12:36he just needs to get used to all these guys,
12:38because I believe he has the pace.
12:39It's really about just being comfortable up front,
12:42then being able to run that pace,
12:43and he'll figure it out.
12:45Give me a check-in with that Monster Energy.
12:47Yamaha Star Racing Team Deegan in the lead.
12:51Thrasher now third.
12:52Moseman,
12:53another quiet,
12:54but very effective ride,
12:55is sixth,
12:56and Muneer,
12:56who had that great start,
12:57now back to 18th,
12:59again in his second pro race,
13:01the young Australian.
13:03Now the career best finish outdoors for,
13:06Thrasher is a fourth,
13:07which had an Ironman a couple of years ago.
13:10So he begins to stay in that spot,
13:11he's third at the moment,
13:12but Seth Hamaker closing on the 56.
13:15Yeah,
13:16I like Seth in out here,
13:17he said he wanted to get top five,
13:18so normally when a guy like Seth is up here,
13:21obviously the crashes and stuff
13:22have been hindering him,
13:23so for him,
13:24he's riding,
13:25he's trying 100%,
13:26but at the same time,
13:27he's also trying to be cautious
13:28and make sure he doesn't go down,
13:30hurt that shoulder again,
13:31and he knows top fives,
13:32he can build that confidence,
13:34and then eventually get a win.
13:35Yeah,
13:38Seth,
13:38actually he and Thrasher crashed together at Hangtown,
13:43second turn of the race,
13:46Hamaker got up,
13:47and then immediately crashed even bigger,
13:49going downhill in the very next section of the track,
13:51and that's what led to the shoulder injury,
13:54that prevented it from racing last weekend.
13:57So a nice comeback here for Seth,
14:01and that is third and fourth.
14:04Fifth is Vial next.
14:07Send it back to JT.
14:09Well,
14:09Tom Vial,
14:09he really,
14:10you know,
14:11came into this series thinking he was going to be a championship contender,
14:14and it started pretty well.
14:15His first round at Fox Raceway,
14:17he gets on the podium.
14:18I even asked him,
14:18hey,
14:18are you content with beating a podium guy?
14:20He's like,
14:21no,
14:21absolutely not.
14:21I want to win.
14:23Well,
14:23ever since then,
14:24things have not gone very well,
14:25so he's back running around near the top five,
14:27but he has got to try to find the positive momentum and get back to the form that we know he has.
14:32Yeah,
14:33and speaking about some form,
14:34Michael Moselman,
14:35before he got out there on track,
14:36he was so chill on the start line.
14:39He was doing some yoga,
14:40actually some stretching.
14:41It was pretty cool to see him in that position.
14:43Of course,
14:44he's had three podiums,
14:45but this season,
14:46right,
14:47so far,
14:47it's only been an eighth,
14:48a tenth,
14:48and a 14th,
14:49and he's a guy that knows how to get the job done.
14:51And in fact,
14:52here at High Point,
14:52last time he was out here racing,
14:54which was,
14:55by the way,
14:55in 2022,
14:57he ran a fourth.
14:58So,
14:58it's a place he's been comfortable at,
15:00but he really needs to dial it in a little bit more.
15:02Yeah,
15:02if your chance,
15:03Hyman's right here,
15:04you've got to be somewhat bummed,
15:05because coming off last weekend,
15:06going that 1-1,
15:07being fast in practice as well,
15:09you knew you wanted to come out here
15:10and try to get another win,
15:12and it's going to be hard for you,
15:14because you don't really see the guy in front of you,
15:16so you've got to continue to race forward.
15:18Look at that pit board,
15:19that mechanics there,
15:19chase the guy in front of you,
15:20chase that pit board,
15:21try to bring those lap times down
15:23to see if you can close the gap,
15:24because right now,
15:24you're by the second off
15:26of what the pace you need to be running
15:27and catch the guys in front of you.
15:29And dealing with a little pressure
15:31from Marchbanks,
15:32who's behind him in eighth.
15:34Marchbanks,
15:35only man left out in California
15:37for that Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki team.
15:39His teammates have all headed east,
15:41but the factory 450 riders,
15:44like Jason Anderson,
15:45are still out in California,
15:47so he's been riding with Anderson now.
15:49That is,
15:49250 teammates are gone.
15:50Also gone is half the moto here.
15:54Hold up.
15:55Shout out to Monster Energy
15:56for backing us here,
15:58and a reminder that you can purchase Monster Energy.
16:00It's available at BFS Foods.
16:04What are you seeing here, James?
16:05Yeah, I was looking at
16:05Seth Handmaker got around Nate Thrasher,
16:08so he moves his way up to third
16:10and see if he can keep on with his teammate.
16:13Levi has a pretty good pace.
16:14He's losing.
16:15He was able to catch Hayden a lap before,
16:16but then Hayden dropped the hammer
16:17and went back to 209,
16:19Levi in the 211,
16:20and I think a lot of that comes from
16:22is that Levi eventually
16:23is going to start riding behind him
16:25because he can't see Hayden,
16:26and it's just hard to chase a rabbit
16:28that you can't see,
16:29and it's easy to start looking back
16:31at your teammate coming up,
16:32and you always want to beat your teammate,
16:33so this race is going to go all the way down
16:35to the finish if these two stay up.
16:36What surprised me,
16:39some of these back sections here,
16:40it looks like he is not charging at all.
16:42That must be how technical,
16:43how difficult the track is
16:45because obviously he's still going fast.
16:46Yeah, I think a lot in these back sections
16:48where we had some rain,
16:50some of it was the gnarly G outs.
16:52What you can't see is the holes
16:53at the bottom of it
16:54because the rain water
16:56had to come off somewhere,
16:57so some of these sections you can see
16:58these guys, if we come back to it,
17:01they'll slow down
17:01because actually the rain is sitting down there
17:03and it's just getting a deeper, deeper hole.
17:05So Levi, I think he's doing a good job.
17:06He's pushing it,
17:07but it's a difficult racetrack
17:09and it's hard when you're seeing this number one
17:11just pulling it away from you
17:13no matter how hard you try.
17:15JT.
17:16Well, speaking of doing a good job,
17:18Hayden Deacon certainly doing that,
17:19and I wanted to ask you guys,
17:21did you guys notice him?
17:22He was our fastest qualifier
17:23and I got a chance to speak to him right afterwards.
17:25There was not a lot of joking around.
17:27You know, typically he's got to take a jab to people,
17:29having some fun with the interview.
17:31He was all business this morning.
17:33James, I'm just wondering,
17:34do you think that is coming off of last weekend
17:37and just his overall mindset entering this round?
17:40Oh, 100%, 100%.
17:41And you would think that
17:43because of his points lead,
17:44he'd be really relaxed.
17:45And I heard him,
17:46we spoke to his dad,
17:47you know, Brian,
17:48and he said, you know,
17:49what's the message being sent?
17:51And he didn't really throw us out there.
17:53You know, he said he won.
17:54Hayden wanted to win,
17:55but he also said that
17:56as he gets close to jumping off the racetrack,
17:57he also said he Hayden woke up.
17:59He could tell by his son's attitude
18:00that it was going to be a good day.
18:02And when you were talking to him, JT,
18:03it seemed like that.
18:05No playing around.
18:06He knew he wanted to stop that number 10
18:08from getting any confidence
18:09and what better way to do it
18:10than what you're doing right now
18:11with 11-second lead.
18:12And as he pulls away,
18:14you can focus on that bottom box.
18:15Good battle now between the teammates,
18:17Moseman and Thrasher,
18:19fifth and sixth.
18:20Katie.
18:20Going back up to Hayden again,
18:22guys, there's so much
18:22you could talk about with this guy,
18:24but Brent Duffy,
18:25his mechanic was telling me
18:26after practice today,
18:27he came off the track
18:28and he said,
18:28man, I left some speed out there.
18:30So, of course,
18:31that shows the team
18:31that he is confident.
18:33And guys, confidence brings confidence, right?
18:35Stu, you know that one well.
18:36Yeah, and if you're looking at
18:38dictionary confidence,
18:41you've got to see a picture of Hayden Deegan
18:42because he has the confidence
18:44and why would you?
18:45Now, he has the luxury right now.
18:47Like, he's pulling away from these guys,
18:49but honestly,
18:49he's probably rotting in his heart,
18:51probably 80%.
18:52So, he's saving energy.
18:53He's being able to move around
18:55and on this racetrack
18:56that is easy to make mistakes,
18:58he's being able to choose his own lines
19:00and not rush certain sections.
19:01So, compared to a guy like Levi
19:03has to make up time,
19:05so he has to push it down.
19:06Hayden's in a perfect position
19:08and I'm sure he's saving energy
19:10at this point
19:10and it's going to be hard
19:11for these guys to beat him
19:12in the second moto
19:13because he's not riding that hard
19:14at the moment.
19:16We saw the work he could do
19:18without good starts
19:19and how strong he could be
19:21late in the motos a year ago.
19:22Yeah, that's making life
19:23much easier on himself.
19:26Yeah, I like this inside line.
19:27We saw the lap before Garrett Marchbank.
19:29He went on the outside
19:30then he cut all the way back
19:31to the right.
19:32So, being patient
19:33and Hayden has that luxury
19:34to be able to just slow down
19:36and get to that inside
19:37it sets you up better
19:38for that tunnel jump
19:39and if you just watch him
19:40all his lines
19:41he's not rushing in any corner
19:43he's going exactly
19:43where he wants to go
19:44if he wants to miss a bump
19:46he'll slow down
19:46and move his way around
19:47the racetrack
19:48and the reason he's able to do that
19:49is because he's out front
19:50nobody's pressuring him.
19:53And the Super Motocross playoffs
19:55return with racing
19:56September 6th
19:57in Charlotte, North Carolina
19:58September 13th
19:59St. Louis, Missouri
20:01and then in September
20:02join us for the
20:03SMX World Championship Final
20:04in Las Vegas, Nevada
20:06champions are crowned
20:07like Hayden Deegan
20:08has been the last two years.
20:10For tickets and information
20:11go to supermotocross.com
20:14love the hybrid tracks
20:15the two-day format
20:16and much, much more
20:17and Deegan will be aiming
20:19for the three-peat
20:20in the 250 division
20:21as will Jet Lawrence
20:23trying to do the same
20:24in the 450 class.
20:26The clutch of Jetsmen
20:28over there
20:29like this outside line
20:31slow down right here
20:34pop over to JT
20:35Yeah, just watching
20:37Deegan's line choice here
20:39James, this is the position
20:40you found yourself in
20:41I would say 12 seconds
20:42might be on the lower side
20:43of the position
20:44you found yourself in
20:45at this racetrack
20:46but you notice
20:47he's taking the smoothest lines
20:49all the way around the racetrack
20:50and I just want to follow
20:51what you were talking about
20:52this is the advantage you get
20:54when you have a lead like this
20:55it doesn't have to take
20:56necessarily the fastest line
20:58he can take the smoothest line
21:00that's going to set him up
21:01so nicely for the second moto
21:02because he's not hitting
21:03any bumps
21:04he's saving so much energy
21:05those guys in the battle
21:07they are forced to take
21:08the absolute fastest
21:09and most often roughest line
21:11around the racetrack
21:12so there's so many benefits
21:13to getting out
21:14and getting a lead like this
21:15No, absolutely
21:16you saw him jump
21:17all the way down that hill
21:18and if he had somebody
21:19behind him
21:20he would have to try
21:21to make it to that inside
21:22because he'd have to worry
21:23about somebody to come to him
21:24but because he's out front
21:25as you can see him
21:26you know, cut back
21:27across that corner
21:28it just works out
21:29beautiful for him
21:29now we're watching the battle
21:31it's master pull
21:32moving up
21:34battling Shimoda
21:35Joe got back up
21:37okay, good
21:38and here's that downhill
21:40from a different view
21:41so yeah, Shimoda's
21:42got to go inside here
21:43right?
21:44Yeah, so Hayden
21:44jumped all the way down
21:45and if somebody like Joe
21:47was behind him
21:47he would have to get back over
21:48but Joe didn't get
21:50that corner properly
21:51now he's getting past
21:52and he's going to be
21:52frustrated because again
21:53he just lost that time
21:55now he's got to go back
21:55to work and try to get
21:56back through him
21:57Katie?
21:58One thing to note
21:59about Ty Masterpool
22:00is he went back to Texas
22:01this week
22:02and why is that important?
22:03Well, last year
22:04at a high point
22:05when he got the 300th win
22:06for Pro Circuit
22:07and he won this race
22:08he also went back to Texas
22:10saying it was a bit of a reset
22:12that's exactly what he needed
22:13after the last few rounds
22:14where he's felt sick
22:15he's had issues
22:16even throwing up
22:17and different things
22:18he's hoping that Texas
22:19homage would have paid
22:21a little bit of
22:22just relaxation
22:23and rest for him
22:24another thing to note
22:25about Ty
22:25is he changed
22:26to a nutritionist
22:27recently
22:27and he's hoping
22:28that also helps
22:29his health
22:29both on and off track
22:31Yeah, thanks Kate
22:32he said he actually
22:32hooked up with a nutritionist
22:34through Levi Kitchen
22:35because Ty has had
22:36some problems
22:37Kitchen said
22:38when he was battling
22:39him last weekend
22:39in that second moto
22:40he's like
22:40well I knew the guy
22:41was going to fade
22:41I literally saw him
22:42throwing up
22:43before the second moto
22:45and we've been talking
22:46about that all year
22:46as you're saying
22:47the teammates
22:47can't quite hide
22:48the ailments
22:50from each other
22:50No, they can't
22:52and especially
22:52like you know
22:53in Ty's situation
22:54and Levi
22:55he's like
22:55look, you know
22:56I fed him
22:56he's working
22:57with my nutrition
22:57I know he's throwing
22:58up over there
22:59so come to my kitchen
23:01I'll help you out
23:01but yeah
23:02when your teammate
23:03you're battling
23:03for your teammate
23:04for a championship
23:05you know all the secrets
23:06and you've got to
23:07think about it
23:07in the 450 class
23:08the Lawrence brothers
23:09you know
23:10Jeff Lawrence
23:10he knows everything
23:11about his brothers
23:12so there's no secrets
23:14just got to go out there
23:14and see if Joe
23:16can go back
23:16to work on Ty
23:17there'll be some
23:18opportunities
23:18to make some passes
23:19and here might be
23:20one of them right here
23:21Joe's getting close
23:22but Ty's going to be
23:23back alongside of him
23:24got this gnarly
23:25breaking bump
23:26let's see if Ty
23:26can get close to him
23:27on the inside
23:28or Joe's going to
23:28cut him off
23:29there you go
23:29he did
23:30that's a great battle
23:31they passed each other
23:32a couple of times
23:33and look
23:33Masterpool
23:34fighting back again
23:35yeah but Ty's going
23:36to try to set him up
23:37and see if he can
23:38square him up
23:38but Joe did a pretty
23:39good line right there
23:40being defensive
23:41but there you go
23:42a lot of opportunities
23:44I expect Joe's going
23:45to go around the outside
23:46good job Ty
23:48wow
23:48and they've
23:49caught Thrasher now
23:51who's right in front
23:52of them
23:52top box is Hymus
23:54who is catching
23:55Moseman for fifth
23:56three rider fight
23:58now
23:58Thrasher
23:59Masterpool Shimoda
24:01yeah that's one thing
24:03here at Mount Moore
24:04is all these different
24:05lines once you get
24:06into it
24:07some of these corners
24:07you got to stay
24:08in that rut
24:08but it gives you
24:09an opportunity
24:10to make some passes
24:11if you're Joe Shimoda
24:12and this will be
24:13another opportunity
24:13see what Ty does
24:15now he's going to
24:16run it up the inside
24:16Ty probably hit the brakes
24:17try to square
24:18underneath them
24:19like that
24:19it's unbelievable
24:21it's good
24:23and all that being
24:23said they're closing
24:24in on Nate Thrasher
24:26right in front of him
24:27so great stuff
24:29and then
24:30Hymus continuing
24:31to close
24:32Moseman for fifth
24:33they all up to fourth
24:34Masterpool Shimoda
24:37more passes
24:38in route
24:39yeah
24:40one of them's trying
24:41to get a twofer
24:42Bogo special
24:44and ties in a difficult
24:45spot
24:45because he wants
24:46to try to pass
24:47Michael
24:48but then he's got
24:48Joe
24:49and sometimes
24:49you've got to leave
24:50that door open
24:50now Michael's starting
24:51to slow him down
24:53and Joe's going to go
24:54around the outside
24:55of both of them
24:55here's the Bogo
24:57yeah Bogo special
24:58got it
24:59got the lightning deal
25:00right there
25:01oh I like it man
25:03for those labels
25:04on the clearance rack
25:05you know
25:06you see the bright colors
25:07it's a good deal
25:08and Masterpool
25:09able to pass
25:10Moseman
25:11Thrasher
25:12as well
25:13they're going
25:13yeah we were looking
25:14at Michael
25:14but yeah
25:15that is Nate Thrasher
25:16right there
25:16so
25:16yep
25:17yeah Moseman
25:18is battling
25:18with the other Honda
25:19yeah
25:19Hymas in the other box
25:20he was in that
25:21battle box earlier
25:22though
25:22hey lots of teammates
25:24out here
25:25okay so now
25:26will Shimoda
25:27be able to end this
25:28with Masterpool
25:30or will Ty
25:30come back
25:32on him
25:32yeah normally
25:33most riders
25:34that Joe
25:35if he has somebody
25:35to chase
25:36then I think
25:36he'll be able
25:37to end it
25:37because clearly
25:38I think he's
25:38faster to
25:39you know
25:41Ty at this point
25:42but if he doesn't
25:43have a rabbit
25:44to chase
25:44as I mentioned
25:45with Levi
25:46it's easy
25:46to start
25:46riding behind you
25:47so we'll see
25:48what happens
25:48but somewhat
25:49a good ride
25:50by chance
25:51this is what
25:51I wanted to see
25:52could he be able
25:53to come up
25:53through the pack
25:53he's got to
25:54spread it out
25:55for him
25:55so now he's
25:56got to close
25:57the gap
25:57but still
25:58if he can get
25:58within the top
25:59five
25:59maybe even
26:00you know
26:00close to Tom Bial
26:02it'd be somewhat
26:02of a good ride
26:03for him
26:03mentally
26:04that is
26:05compared to
26:05what we saw
26:06a couple weeks
26:06ago
26:07with him
26:07having food
26:08poison
26:08pulling off
26:09the racetrack
26:09and stuff
26:10you've got
26:12the top five
26:12because that's
26:13the best
26:13you can do
26:14today
26:14yeah just looking
26:16for fifth
26:16with Moseman
26:17here on the
26:1793 right
26:18in front of him
26:19told you Moseman's
26:20story several
26:21times
26:21broken neck
26:22and several
26:23concussions
26:24led him to think
26:25that his racing
26:26days were over
26:27neck healed up
26:28the doctor said
26:29you're not any
26:29more likely
26:30to have a problem
26:30than anyone
26:31who had not
26:31broken their neck
26:32no long-term
26:33complications
26:33so he decided
26:34to give this
26:34one more shot
26:35and because
26:37he's always
26:37been fast
26:38he got a shot
26:39with this
26:40Yamaha team
26:41so he's got
26:42the good
26:42equipment
26:43the good
26:43squad
26:43trying to
26:44make the
26:44most of it
26:45yeah and you
26:46saw that line
26:47where we got
26:48the sky shot
26:49the double
26:50let's see if
26:50Chance can bully
26:52himself up the
26:52inside
26:53there you go
26:54move out my
26:54way move
26:55or be hit
26:56love it
26:57so fifth
26:59for Jaimez
26:59despite the
27:00bad start
27:01send it to
27:03Katie
27:04see what the
27:04strategy is
27:05for the Honda
27:05crew
27:06it's one of
27:07those strategies
27:08that is pretty
27:09funny
27:09it's a stay
27:10loose
27:11and dig
27:12and that is
27:12all the pit
27:13boards are saying
27:13right now
27:14for Chance
27:14high misses
27:15stay loose
27:15and dig
27:16well Katie
27:16I'll tell you
27:17who's staying
27:17loose
27:17maybe a little
27:18too much
27:18we saw
27:19Michael Moseman
27:19I don't know
27:20if he saved
27:20that or not
27:21that bike
27:22was full swap
27:23left to right
27:23he's still there
27:24he's still there
27:25man that was
27:26a close one
27:27so that's
27:27definitely
27:28a loosey goosey
27:28at that point
27:29and yeah
27:30but I can tell
27:31you one thing
27:31like he won't
27:32remember that
27:32happened until
27:33somebody brings
27:34it up
27:34oh yeah
27:34almost died
27:35out there
27:36but he's going
27:37to continue
27:37racing forward
27:38that's what I
27:38love about
27:38all these
27:39athletes
27:39man
27:39things
27:40they almost
27:40just died
27:41a corner
27:41before
27:41but they
27:42forget about
27:43it a corner
27:44later
27:44until somebody
27:44brings it up
27:45yeah
27:47let's see
27:48this again
27:49oh
27:50Julian
27:50Bomer
27:50having his
27:51problems
27:51in this
27:52moto
27:52we caught
27:52it
27:53giving the
27:54replay
27:54the top
27:55screen
27:55Julian
27:56going
27:57down
27:58he starts
27:58so there's
27:58ruts right
27:59there
27:59and he starts
28:00losing
28:00the front
28:00end
28:00going off
28:01that little
28:01hump
28:01and
28:02yeah
28:02just lost
28:03it
28:03and just
28:04slid
28:04all the way
28:04down the
28:04hill
28:05and that's
28:05what I'm
28:05saying
28:05on camera
28:08but once
28:08you start
28:08losing
28:09the front
28:09end
28:09it's
28:09easy
28:10to just
28:10fall
28:10over
28:10as we
28:11watch
28:11Joe
28:11do the
28:11same
28:12thing
28:12early
28:12in the
28:12day
28:13so
28:13yeah
28:15Shimoda
28:15fell
28:15the bottom
28:16of that
28:16hill
28:17where you
28:17just saw
28:18Hymus
28:18in
28:19qualifying
28:20so Hymus
28:20fifth
28:22three second
28:24gap to be
28:24out
28:25let's see
28:25if he can
28:25make one
28:25more run
28:26yeah
28:28I think
28:28he's a little
28:28closer to
28:29Tom
28:29than that
28:31let's see
28:31if he can
28:32get around
28:32these
28:32laughers
28:33as you saw
28:33Tom
28:33just popped
28:34out of
28:34that screen
28:34so
28:35chance
28:35to have
28:38in the
28:38lap
28:38before
28:39I was
28:39saying
28:39with
28:39Michael
28:40how he
28:41was so
28:41far
28:41on the
28:42outside
28:42and he
28:42had to
28:43cut
28:43back
28:43where I
28:43like
28:44the
28:44line
28:44that
28:44chance
28:44is
28:45doing
28:45he's
28:45just
28:45taking
28:45his
28:46time
28:46being
28:46slow
28:46but
28:47it
28:47sets
28:47him up
28:48better
28:48for
28:48this
28:48next
28:48corner
28:49which
28:49sets
28:49him
28:49up
28:49better
28:50for
28:50this
28:50whole
28:50out
28:50this
28:51whole
28:51section
28:51so
28:52he's
28:53got
28:53a toe
28:53in
28:53on
28:55Tom
28:56that's
28:56pretty
28:57close
28:57now
28:57yeah
28:57man
29:00you talk
29:00so much
29:01especially
29:01this
29:01year
29:02about
29:02the
29:02difference
29:02having
29:02that
29:03toe
29:03seeing
29:03the
29:03guy
29:04and
29:04what a
29:04difference
29:05that
29:05makes
29:05no
29:05I mean
29:06it
29:06really
29:06is
29:07it's
29:07like
29:07a
29:07person
29:07training
29:08if you
29:08you know
29:09your goal
29:10I want to
29:10lose weight
29:11well you got to have
29:11some kind of goal
29:12to do it or any
29:13kind of goal in life
29:14and I think with
29:14these riders
29:15you know of course
29:15they're all fast
29:16but you got to have
29:17a toe
29:18especially when you get
29:19close to somebody
29:20you know when they're
29:20braking
29:21so you can just stay
29:22on that
29:22little bit
29:22you know
29:23stay on the throttle
29:24a little bit harder
29:24that's why it's a lot
29:25easier to catch a guy
29:26compared to passing him
29:28I think if he stays
29:29a little bit closer
29:30he might have a shot
29:30again Tom
29:31and that could put
29:33him in
29:34perhaps overall
29:36territory
29:37depending on how
29:37the second moto
29:38breaks
29:39a five
29:39would make it
29:40tough
29:41this would be
29:42huge potentially
29:43by the end of the day
29:44the difference between
29:45this fourth and fifth
29:46who's going to get it
29:46Villal versus
29:47Jaimis
29:48yeah I mean I think
29:49for overall
29:50it's you know
29:51Hayden away
29:52how strong he's been
29:53all year long
29:53you're probably going
29:55to have to be closer
29:55to Levi
29:56that's second
29:56third place
29:57fourth is
29:58in case something
29:59happens
29:59yeah it'll put you
30:00in an overall
30:00situation
30:00but I think what it
30:01does is
30:02just lets everybody
30:04know Chance is here
30:05like his fitness
30:06is there
30:07he's able to not
30:08get the best start
30:09he's going to climb
30:10his way back up
30:11to you know
30:12the top five
30:13and I think that
30:13just more sends
30:14a message to him
30:15but also even
30:16Hayden Deegan
30:17you know you're not
30:17going to have the
30:18situation where Chance
30:19doesn't get a start
30:20okay he doesn't get a
30:20start he's out
30:21no big deal
30:22the kid's starting to
30:23find his confidence
30:24and the only way
30:25he does that
30:25by that 1-1 last week
30:26and allows him to
30:27be able to move
30:28his way up front
30:29I think this is going
30:30to continue to help
30:30him throughout the
30:31rest of this year
30:31yeah no doubt
30:33I didn't want to say
30:34but yes to turn a
30:35fourth or fifth
30:36in the overall
30:36with Deegan
30:37they're going to need
30:37some help
30:38some luck
30:38in the second
30:40moto
30:40oh Seth Hamaker
30:42hang on to that
30:43thing
30:43this would be big
30:44if he can
30:44he almost crashed
30:45there
30:46if he can keep it
30:46on two wheels
30:47and bring it to the
30:47end
30:47this will actually
30:49be the first
30:49ever moto podium
30:51for Seth Hamaker
30:52in pro motocross
30:53his career best
30:54is a fourth
30:55right here
30:56at high point
30:57about two years ago
30:58yeah that's
30:59that's crazy
31:00to think how good
31:01Seth has been
31:02but that's really
31:03what injuries are
31:04and you know
31:04if his shoulders
31:05starting to bottom
31:06I can tell you
31:06one thing
31:07those rollers
31:07that he came down
31:08hitting at
31:09that is going to
31:09bother him
31:10quite a bit
31:11not only with that
31:12with these downhills
31:13a lot of these
31:13corners
31:14there's like
31:14you're slamming
31:15down and then
31:16you have an instant
31:17stop
31:17so Seth is doing
31:19a good job
31:19if he can finish
31:20with his podium
31:21with his teammate
31:22it'd be a great ride
31:23and the work he has
31:25put in
31:26with the lawrences
31:27there at their
31:28compound
31:28the dog pound
31:29has really paid off
31:31a lot of work
31:32on riding technique
31:33and they tell me
31:34that Seth will
31:35land on Sundays
31:36after supercross
31:37from the airport
31:38go to the track
31:39get on a pit bike
31:40not a full practice
31:41day on the real bike
31:42but just work on drills
31:43work on figure eights
31:44work on turns
31:45to really get that
31:46riding technique
31:47to set in on a Sunday
31:48before going back
31:49to the regular
31:50Monday through Thursday
31:51schedule
31:52so he's doing
31:52everything he can
31:53to accelerate
31:54the learning curve
31:55but we've seen
31:56big advancements
31:57this year
31:58yeah I know
31:58I agree
31:59and Seth looks like
32:00that type of guy
32:01like when you see
32:02certain riders
32:02you just know
32:04they have that work
32:05effort
32:05and then I think
32:06the way he rides
32:07he looks like a goddess
32:08he's never going to
32:09give up
32:09kind of like Tom
32:10Masterpool
32:11I like to say
32:11certain guys
32:12are just dogs
32:13out there
32:13when you look at
32:14Seth
32:14all the injuries
32:15to bounce back
32:16he's got the heart
32:17she's got to find
32:18that health
32:19and that belief
32:20and he'll be fine
32:20but the one guy
32:21who doesn't have
32:22any problems
32:22with any of that
32:23is Hayden Deegan
32:24man
32:25I'm telling you
32:25right now
32:26he's going to be
32:26just as fresh
32:27for that second moto
32:28as he was this first
32:29one
32:30because he's been
32:30saving some energy
32:31all race long
32:32love it
32:33check in again
32:34with the 2-2
32:35Jalik Swole
32:37coming back
32:38from the Achilles injury
32:39that's pretty darn fast
32:41I think that happened
32:43in November
32:44if I remember right
32:45so here we are
32:46just a little over
32:48six months
32:48and back on the racetrack
32:50on the Triumph
32:51and he admitted
32:53to me yesterday
32:54yeah maybe the cardio
32:55fitness not quite there
32:56it's only been about
32:56two and a half weeks
32:57on the bike
32:57but hey
32:58racing is training
33:00in its own way
33:00no absolutely
33:01I think Jalik's
33:02doing a great job
33:02out here
33:03I mean this is going
33:04to be a good job
33:06just finishing these motos
33:07and like he said
33:08he wanted
33:08maybe he shouldn't be
33:09dancing on that thing
33:10but he put his dance
33:11shoes on today
33:11so if he can finish
33:12top 15
33:13the first ride
33:14I'm sure everybody
33:15had the Triumph
33:15to be happy
33:16and his speed
33:18is there
33:18to come back
33:19he was you know
33:19top six in qualifying
33:21so he has the speed
33:22this is expected
33:23with the race fitness
33:24back to the leader
33:26Hayden Deegan
33:27final lap now
33:28and looking to make it
33:30six moto wins
33:32sorry five moto wins
33:35in uh
33:36do my math right here
33:38seven starts
33:38yes that would be correct
33:40seventh moto of the year
33:41and this one
33:42probably the easiest
33:44so far this season
33:45yeah you got my math
33:46skills going on
33:47five out of four
33:48five out of four
33:49people struggling
33:49with math
33:50at this point
33:51one of the five
33:51yeah no it's all good
33:53just bad influences
33:55off you
33:55you get
33:55contagious here
33:58well hey look
33:59math is easy
34:00just look at the gap
34:02he has
34:02he's on cruise control
34:03on this final lap
34:05no he's on cruise control
34:06and then still
34:07say a great route
34:08for him
34:08but also a great route
34:09for Levi
34:10um I think that's
34:11going to help Levi
34:11but again
34:13Hayden Deegan's
34:13resting up
34:14he'll be ready
34:15for that second moto
34:16it's been a fun moto
34:17for him
34:17I can tell you that much
34:18just able to tuck
34:20it into that run
34:20at the bottom of the hill
34:22now headed for daylight
34:23one turn remains
34:25and the fans saloon him
34:28at the top
34:28Hayden Deegan wins
34:31moto one
34:32at high point
34:33battle's still going
34:36Haley Shimoda and March
34:37Banks
34:38sixth place
34:39been seeing this all year
34:40long for Joe
34:41good job to be able to catch
34:43Garrett because he wasn't
34:43even close to him
34:44now let's see what happens
34:46Garrett's probably going to
34:47try to block this inside
34:49and Joe might have an
34:49opportunity if he gets a run
34:51on the outside
34:51he should be able to get
34:52around him
34:53here it is James
34:54yeah Joe has this
34:56because he's got to put him
34:56on the inside of the next one
34:57nice move by Joe
34:58wow what a charge
35:00and Shimoda
35:02as March Banks rushes
35:03that last corner to get him
35:04back can't do it
35:05and Shimoda is going to rip
35:07sixth place away
35:08with two turns to go
35:10Garrett's trying to rip
35:11them goggles off
35:11I don't think he was
35:12he was too happy
35:13but he was stuck in a weird
35:14spot he didn't have no choice
35:16if he went outside
35:17he was going to get past
35:17but yeah did his best
35:19and so did this guy
35:21Hayden Deegan
35:22another win
35:23re-established
