Hello there, very good morning to you. This week is all about topsy-turvy temperatures.
00:06
I'm very used to talking about how it's colder in the north and warmer in the south, but
00:10
that is certainly not the case today. We're starting off Monday with widely mild conditions
00:15
for Northern Ireland and Scotland, already double digits in places. Meanwhile, for England
00:19
and Wales, it is much chillier, some patchy frost across some districts. We've currently
00:24
got cold air trapped underneath an area of high pressure in the southeast with light
00:28
winds here as well, but strong and mild southwesterly winds are pushing their way in across parts
00:33
of Northern Ireland and Scotland. This is accompanied by a cold front that's bringing
00:37
outbreaks of rain during today, so it will be turning fairly damp and wet for these north-western
00:42
districts around all those gusts as well. The rain will slowly push its way into parts
00:47
of Cumbria and north-west England, also around Anglesey into north-west Wales later on this
00:51
afternoon. The rest of England and Wales will manage to stay dry, but it is going to be
00:54
a relatively cloudy day, brightness certainly in short supply, but a few clearer spells
00:59
maybe for the far north of Scotland later on this afternoon. This band of rain though
01:03
is going to act as a boundary line for our temperatures. You'll see again it is noticeably
01:07
mild for Scotland and Northern Ireland, but cooler still across England and Wales, 5-7
01:12
degrees Celsius here. This band of rain will slowly ease as we head into the evening and
01:18
overnight period, but it is also going to stall a bit across more central areas of the
01:22
UK, so still some outbreaks of lighter rain and drizzle possible here throughout the night.
01:27
Drier towards the north and the south, a few clear spells around there once again, but
01:31
this frontal system is still going to act as that boundary line in our temperatures.
01:35
Once again for Scotland and Northern Ireland it is going to be a very mild night. Temperatures
01:40
again in places may hold up in double digit figures. Further towards the south there is
01:44
once again the chance that we see some patchy frost around first thing on Tuesday morning.
01:49
There will be also some isolated fog patches here that will just take a little bit of time
01:53
in the morning to clear their way off. The rain now has ease for many of us, but it will
01:57
still be drizzly across more higher ground sites, so for Eyrire, the Bannau Blythyniog
02:02
across the Pennines and the Lake District as well. Perhaps a few just skirting into
02:08
the far north of the Highlands as well. The best of the sunshine on Tuesday is probably
02:12
going to be for some southern coastal districts of England, but also eastern areas of Scotland
02:16
should see some brightness poking its way through at times, generally though cloudy
02:20
for the vast majority. Those temperatures on Tuesday range in between 8 in the south
02:25
and 11 to 12 degrees Celsius in the north. As we move into the forthcoming week it is
02:30
generally going to be more northern and western areas that see the greatest chance of a bit
02:35
more in the way of rain and drizzle around at times, but many of us should see a relatively
02:39
settled week to come. There is the ongoing chance of mist and fog lingering in places
02:44
across more southern districts though, and those topsy-turvy temperatures are going to
02:48
continue right throughout the week, double digits still persisting in the north, a little
02:52
bit cooler in the south. We'll have plenty more updates on all of that on our YouTube
02:57
channel with a full week ahead forecast posted late on, so make sure you are subscribed for
03:02
that so you get the notification of when it's uploaded, and we'll see you again here very
03:06
soon. Bye bye.
