00:00Hello there, good afternoon. Although it might be Sunday, the sun is certainly

00:05going to be lacking for many of us. Instead we're left with anticyclonic

00:09gloom. An anticyclone is another term we use to refer to high pressure and whilst

00:14we're used to it bringing fairly fine and settled conditions, often during

00:17autumn and winter we can find that it traps a moist layer of air at the

00:22surface and this results in widespread cloud across much of the UK. Because high

00:26pressure is a blocking pattern, it can linger for quite a while and so we are

00:30going to see the cloud with us for a good few days still to come. So for much

00:34of England, Wales and Northern Ireland it is a grey day, once again the odd spot of

00:38drizzle to watch out for in places. The best of the sunshine today is going to

00:42be reserved for parts of Northern Scotland. Temperatures around 12-14

00:46degrees Celsius, roughly where we would expect them to be for the time of year

00:50but obviously where you are lacking the sunshine it is going to feel quite cool

00:53in places. As we head into the evening if you do have any firework celebrations

00:58most of us should stay dry but do just take care for the odd spot of drizzle

01:02that could still linger around, particularly Irish Sea coastal districts.

01:05Underneath the cloud though it is going to hold temperatures up a bit so most of

01:10us will be remaining on the positive side of the temperature scale but things

01:14will turn a little bit cooler again once across Northern Scotland. Apache frost is

01:18possible for like to the Northern Highlands where we see those temperatures

01:22dropping off a bit more. On to the new working week then and for many of us it

01:26is a very similar situation, a repeated scenario where that cloud is really

01:30going to be lingering and staying with us. But there is a chance as we head

01:34throughout the day that we start to see a few more breaks developing in that

01:36cloud, particularly for Northwestern Scotland, Western Northern Ireland, Western

01:40Wales, parts of Cornwall and also the far southeast of England seeing an influence

01:43from those clearing skies across parts of France. Temperatures down by a degree

01:47or so in places, many of us around 11 to 13 degrees Celsius and again feeling

01:53quite cool if you don't see that sun managing to break through the drizzle

01:56again is still possible across quite widespread areas. And as we end Monday

02:01pretty much the same way that we started it, a lot of cloud right across the board

02:05where we do start to see some of those clearer breaks developing into the

02:09evening and overnight period though that does allow us the risk of some fog to

02:13develop. So as you start off on Tuesday morning do be prepared for some quite

02:16misty and murky scenes to be developing. Those fog patches could linger quite

02:20well into the morning to provide a little bit of disturbance in places. But
