Hello there and a good evening to you. After a cold week of weather there is
00:05
signs of a change in fortune during the next few days. The cold air has still
00:10
been in play today underneath this area of high pressure but increasingly we're
00:13
going to see a shift to this much milder stream of air moving in from the
00:18
southwest. It's mainly going to push into northwestern areas of the UK, Scotland
00:22
and Northern Ireland but all of us will eventually see that shift to something a
00:26
touch milder. If we take a look at temperatures compared to average for the
00:30
time of year you can see that Saturday's values have been notably below where
00:35
we'd expect them to be for January. But fast forward to Monday and there will be
00:39
a rebound right across the country but particularly in Scotland and Northern
00:44
Ireland. Quite a dramatic increase in temperatures and now well above average
00:49
for the time of year. For now though the cold air is still in play and it is
00:54
going to be a chilly evening for eastern Scotland and eastern England. There'll be
00:58
some freezing fog patches around through the Vale of York down towards East
01:01
Anglia, quite dense in places. Also some widespread fog possible through Northern
01:05
Ireland kick off Sunday morning. Some patches of drizzle possible underneath
01:09
this cloud in more central areas might cause some icy stretches where it's
01:13
falling on frozen surfaces because certainly underneath the clearest of
01:16
the skies we are going to see a frost once again across that eastern half.
01:20
Towards the west though you can see where that milder air is just
01:23
beginning to creep its way in allowing those temperatures to hold up on the
01:27
positive side of the temperature scale. Do bear in mind that the fog will take a
01:32
little bit of time throughout Sunday morning to clear so there could be some
01:35
localized travel issues where it is quite misty and murky during the day.
01:39
Eventually it will clear probably quickest in the northwest where we see
01:43
the winds picking up in strength here and cloud pushing in. Some outbreaks of
01:47
rain for Northern Ireland through the Outer Hebrides and into the Highlands
01:50
also. Generally a calmer day for England and Wales there will be some sunshine
01:53
around to enjoy once the fog eventually clears its way off but temperatures
01:57
still struggling a touch here 3-4 degrees Celsius as the top temperatures
02:02
here closer towards 8 or 9 further towards the west. Into Monday low
02:08
pressure in the northwest and high pressure in the southeast are going to
02:11
push towards each other and really provide quite a squeeze in the ice of
02:15
ours during the day. So it is going to be a much noticeably blustery day
02:19
particularly for Northern Ireland and Scotland will have gales around at times
02:22
as these pulses of rain swing their way through heavy at times. England and Wales
02:27
should stay mostly dry but the cloud will be building so sunshine will be
02:31
much hazier on Monday compared to what we will see on Sunday. Temperatures
02:36
though in that southwesterly wind are going to be ticking their way up so
02:40
England and Wales rebounding towards average for the time of year 6-7
02:44
degrees Celsius but just see how high those temperatures are climbing now for
02:48
Scotland and Northern Ireland into double digits 12-13 degrees Celsius. It
02:53
is worth noting though with this quite dramatic increase in temperatures we are
02:56
going to see a very rapid fall of the snow that's been falling over the last
03:01
week so there might be some localized issues where we see some surface water
03:05
developing on roads as that snow does begin to melt so it is worth taking care
03:09
over the next few days as that does occur. We'll have plenty more updates of
03:13
what you can expect during the forthcoming week so subscribe to the
03:16
YouTube channel for all of those and we'll see you again here very soon bye
03:20
bye
