00:00Hello there and there, good evening to you. Some of us could be ending this warmest day of the year so far with a bang.
00:07For parts of northern England, southern Scotland, there is a yellow thunderstorm warning in play for this system that we could see developing as we head into Saturday evening and the start of the night.
00:18Potential for some quite frequent lightning, large hail, strong gusty winds of around 50 miles per hour, along with those torrential downpours of rain.
00:27I wouldn't take these graphics too literally. There is some uncertainty in regards to exact positioning of where this system could develop, but certainly across these northern areas of the UK, it is worth taking care as we head over the next few hours and staying up to date with the forecast.
00:42You'll be able to track any thunderstorms on the Met Office radar app as well.
00:46There is the potential as we head into the night that this manages to clip into other areas of eastern Scotland as it eventually moves its way off towards the North Sea.
00:53And we'll see some more isolated thunderstorms spreading across parts of Northern Ireland and into western Scotland during the second half of the night.
01:01Elsewhere, there'll be some clear spells, but certainly for the northwest, it's going to be a fresher, less muggy night overall, temperatures around 13 to 15 degrees Celsius here.
01:10But we're still holding on to some of that heat that we've seen around today across the southeast, feeling particularly muggy down here.
01:17And some areas may not see temperatures dropping much below 20 degrees Celsius.
01:23So quite a warm start in the southeast.
01:25There will be a touch of cloud just drifting its way off, but it's generally the southeastern quadrant of the UK where we'll see a quite nice bright start to the day.
01:33The cloud tending to build, though, as we see these further showers push in from the west, spreading their way into many areas during the course of Sunday.
01:41Quite a brisk breeze around as well for many of us, but some sunshine still managing to poke its way through.
01:47That heat in the southeast is still going to be lingering, certainly down from the 30 plus degrees Celsius that we've seen today.
01:54But high 20 is still possible, 27, 28 degrees in there.
01:58But towards the north and the west, though, you're certainly going to start to feel that fresher feel.
02:03Temperatures now more around the mid to high teens for parts of Northern Ireland, central areas on western parts of Scotland.
02:09Why is it turning fresher?
02:12Well, our winds are shifting to a westerly direction, all because of this area of low pressure.
02:17And that's going to become one of the more dominant driving forces of our weather over the next few days.
02:22Quite tightly spaced isobars below that area of low pressure.
02:26So that westerly wind is going to be quite brisk and blustier around into Monday.
02:30Still some further showers, generally most frequent across the northern half of the UK.
02:35The southern half should see a decent amount of sunshine in there and remain largely dry.
02:40For all of us, though, now this is when we'll really start to see those temperatures dropping their way off, generally around 17 to 23 degrees Celsius.
02:47But that's still around average for the time of year.
02:50And it will feel pleasant if you are in that sunshine and out of the breeze.
02:55We'll have plenty more updates of what you can expect during the rest of this week across social media and our YouTube channel.
