22 June - National weather forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, a very good afternoon to you. Did you hear any thunder to kick off this morning?
00:06Had some quite intense storms push across parts of eastern England and northern Scotland to kick off Sunday morning.
00:13Some intense downpours in association with these.
00:16Those are now clearing off, but you'll see we've had further showers pushing their way into western regions as well.
00:22These again have the potential to be heavy and thundery as we head throughout the rest of the day,
00:27particularly across northern and western areas of the UK.
00:31Parts of the southeast have got off to a reasonably bright start,
00:34but the sunshine will be turning hazier here as the cloud tends to build into the afternoon.
00:39Temperatures down for all of us compared to the peaks we've seen over recent days,
00:43but still high 20s is possible 27, 28 degrees Celsius in the south and east.
00:49Feeling notably fresher though up towards the northwest around the mid to high teens here,
00:54and some quite blustery winds around for all of us.
00:57They could be close to gale strength for a time across the northern hours in particular,
01:01where we see some longer spells of rain.
01:03Those winds will continue to push those showers through in an easterly direction
01:08as we head throughout the rest of this evening and overnight.
01:11There's potential for many areas to potentially see a few showers around at times tonight.
01:17Those winds though are also heralding in a change to fresher conditions,
01:21and so we're losing all of that humidity we've seen recently,
01:23and tonight should be more comfortable for sleeping for many of us.
01:27Temperatures in towns and cities generally between 10 and 16 degrees Celsius,
01:31though a touch lower than that in rural areas.
01:35Tomorrow is also another day of sunshine and showers.
01:39Generally they will be more frequent up towards north and west,
01:42a touch lighter though compared to the heavy downbursts that we've seen around today.
01:47Some longer spells of rain possible for the northern hours,
01:49but for many areas, particularly the southern half of the UK,
01:51some quite prolonged periods of sunshine are possible.
01:54So it will be pleasant in that sunshine, but we're still holding on to that blustery wind,
01:58and that will be a notable feature if you do step outside.
02:02Temperatures roughly around average for the time of year,
02:04between 16 and 24 degrees Celsius.
02:08Into Monday evening, we will start to see the cloud building in more widely in the west,
02:13though with some longer spells of rain potentially arriving from northern Ireland
02:17a touch later on in the day.
02:19This is all associated with a weather front,
02:22and it's going to start encroaching on the UK as we head more towards Tuesday.
02:26We'll have plenty more updates on that, though, in our evening video a little later on today,
02:31so subscribe to the YouTube channel so you know when that is out,
02:34and I'll see you again later on.
02:36Bye-bye.
