00:00Hello there, a very good morning to you. If you haven't been a fan of the recent heat wave then
00:05I do have some good news for you because the heat will be subsiding over the next few days,
00:10all courtesy of this area of low pressure in the Atlantic that is seeing a shift in our winds to
00:14more of a westerly direction and starting to filter in those fresher conditions for many
00:18areas. We are though still holding on to a touch of that heat across the far southeast so it is a
00:23warm and muggy start to the day here but once any of that early cloud clears off it's also going to
00:29where we see some of the best sunshine throughout this morning, a nice bright start. The cloud
00:33though is going to be building from the west as we see showers drift their way in, moving in with
00:38that area of low pressure. Some of them have the potential to be on the heavy sharp side with the
00:43odd rumble of thunder around as well. A brisk breeze here today for many of us that will make it feel
00:49already fresher in addition to that slight drop in temperatures. So on the thermometer we're more
00:54around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius up in the northwest. Where that heat just lingers on in the southeast
01:00we could still climb to 27, 28 degrees Celsius though still down on the 30 plus that we've had
01:06around over the last few days. Those showers will continue to drift their way through into this
01:11evening and overnight so there is the chance that most areas of the UK see at least a little bit of
01:17rain during the 12 hour period or so but there'll be some clear spells in between all of that as well.
01:23The brisk breeze continues and as that fresher air transports its way across all areas of the UK
01:28tonight will be noticeably more comfortable for sleeping right across the board. In towns and cities
01:34generally those temperatures dropping back to 10, 14 degrees Celsius but for rural areas in the northwest
01:40we may even be dropping into single figures as we start off Monday morning. And then into the new
01:47working week. The first of those days is generally one of scattered showers and sunny spells.
01:52Those showers most frequent across the northern half of the UK again the odd one could be on the heavy
01:58side forming into longer spells of rain at times. The southern half generally seeing more coherent
02:02areas of sunshine throughout the day and it will feel pleasant if you are in that sunshine and away
02:08from the breeze. Temperatures more around average for the time of year between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius.
