6 July - National weather forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, very good afternoon. If you are heading to Wimbledon during today, there could
00:06be some thunderstorms around. In addition to some heavy rain across Kent first thing this
00:10morning, we've also seen this feature pushing across parts of the Midlands, providing some
00:14quite intense downpours and also some rumbles of thunder in the mixture. As we head throughout
00:19this afternoon, we are expecting that to continue its journey south eastwards and as such there
00:23is a yellow thunderstorm warning enforced across these areas of England with some hail, lightning
00:29and strong gusty winds possible in addition to those intense downpours of rain. It should
00:35hopefully have cleared its way through for parts of Silverstone for the British Grand Prix,
00:40but as mentioned, there is potential that some of that rain does affect the likes of Wimbledon
00:44into the start of this afternoon. There'll be some lighter showers skirting through elsewhere,
00:48a reasonable amount of cloud around for many of us, though some sunshine should break through
00:52from northern Scotland into the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to be around average
00:57for this time of the year, sort of around 17, 18 degrees Celsius for Northern Ireland and Scotland,
01:03closer towards 22, 24 degrees Celsius further towards the south. There is though a brisk breeze
01:09around in many places, so that will make it feel a touch cooler when you are stepping outside.
01:14That breeze will turn a bit stronger through the North Channel during this forthcoming evening,
01:19so some coast of Northern Ireland, parts of Dumfries and Galloway, as well across the Isle of Man,
01:23could turn quite gusty for a time. The breeze though is pushing a lot of this cloud and rain further
01:29southwards, so further spells of some locally heavy rain for England and Wales, but clearer spells
01:34will tend to develop for areas further towards the north, that leading to a relatively fresh night
01:39in places. Temperatures in towns and cities dropping around to 11, 14 degrees Celsius, but we could see
01:45single figures across some rural parts of Scotland as we kick off Monday morning.
01:49Do take note of some of that heavy rain that could be around first thing across parts of Northern
01:55Wales, Moseside, Cheshire, but also across the southeast of England as well. It will eventually
02:00clear its way off and we should see the sunshine breaking through a touch more readily compared to
02:05what we have seen over the weekend. Still a few showers to watch out for, particularly around some
02:09coastal districts, but there will be a lot of fine dry weather around for many of us as well.
02:14Again, temperatures relatively similar to today, mid to high teens across the north pushing towards
02:1923 degrees Celsius in parts of Wales and southern England. The breeze though still in place, so that
02:25again will make it feel a touch cooler when you do step outside. And aside from the odd heavy shower
02:31that we could see developing across northeastern coasts of the UK during Monday evening, there will
02:37be a fair amount of dry weather as we end off the day as well. It's all because high pressure is
02:42beginning to build in from the Atlantic and particularly from midweek onwards, it's looking like it's going to
02:48develop across many areas of the UK, bringing us plenty of settled conditions, a decent amount
02:53of sunshine as well, and that sunshine will start heating things up and we are expecting
02:57temperatures to rise later on in the week and towards next weekend, potentially back up
03:02towards 30 degrees Celsius in places. So do stay up to date with all the latest details as we head
03:09over this forthcoming week. You can of course do that by subscribing to the YouTube channel
03:13and we'll see you again very soon. Bye-bye.
