7 July - National weather forecast presented by Jonathan Vautrey.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, a very good morning to you. Many of us can look forward to a fine and settled
00:05week to come, and even as we kick off this Monday morning, it is quite bright for many
00:10areas of Scotland. A little cool in places with a brisk northwesterly wind, but away
00:14from the cloud around coastal districts there is some sunshine breaking through as well
00:17for Northern Ireland. Do watch out for a few showers around north Wales, parts of north-west
00:22England, and there is just some heavy rain lingering around Kent and Sussex first thing
00:26this morning, but that will eventually be clearing its way off. We could see a few showers just
00:31skirting eastern coasts of England, and maybe a few just bubbling up inland as well, but
00:35for many areas it will manage to stay dry, and the sunshine should break through fairly
00:40readily, particularly across the north and the west. In that sunshine it will feel fairly
00:45pleasant, temperatures around average for this time of year, generally 18 to 23 degrees
00:50Celsius, though with that brisk northwesterly wind still in play for some of us, it could
00:55just feel a touch cooler when you do eventually step outside. Generally, though, it will be
01:00fine and dry as we head into the evening periods, though the odd sharp shower looking like it
01:05might develop across parts of north-east England, again just skirting their way down a little
01:10closer to East Anglia throughout the night. Clear spells, though, remaining for the vast majority,
01:15and underneath those clear skies, again it will turn quite chilly in locations, particularly
01:20for the time of year. Rural parts of Scotland could see as low as low single figures in places,
01:25a touch of grass frost even, but generally towns and cities will hold up just in double
01:30digits. It does though mean, despite the chilly start, that there will be plentiful amounts
01:36of sunshine to kick off on Tuesday morning. Cloud tending to build a touch more for Northern
01:40Ireland tomorrow and Western Scotland, with some outbreaks of rain arriving here later in
01:45the day, and again there is always the chance that we see a few showers skirting eastern coasts
01:48of England, where the cloud may plague us a little bit more as well. But inland, it will
01:53be another fine day, and actually with lighter winds in general, that will help make it feel
01:59a touch warmer. As well, temperatures will be climbing up a little bit more, quite widely,
02:0320, 22 degrees Celsius, likely seeing highs of 24 or 25 across areas of southern England.
02:10Those temperatures, though, are very likely to be climbing even further as we head throughout
02:14the rest of this week. Plentiful amounts of sunshine and day-on-day heating could see us
02:19reach close to 30 degrees Celsius in places. We'll have more updates on that in our full
02:25week-ahead video that will be uploaded to YouTube later on today, so do subscribe and hit the
02:30notification bell so you know when that is out. Otherwise, enjoy your day. Bye-bye.
