Hello there. It certainly has been a very cold start to the weekend. In fact, we've
00:05
reported our coldest morning in four years, with close to minus 19 degrees Celsius reported
00:12
in the north of Scotland. It's been a very frosty start to the day across England and
00:16
Wales as well, but actually for Northern Ireland, the coldest temperature this morning was a
00:21
very balmy 1.1 degrees Celsius at Armagh. Here we're starting to see milder air push
00:28
its way in from the west in association with an occluded front. It is making very slow
00:33
progress so the cold air is going to remain across many other areas underneath this area
00:37
of high pressure. But this occluded front in the west is starting to bring more in the
00:41
way of cloud for south-west England and Wales into north-west as well. We will see some
00:46
patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle. It might also produce some hill snow in places.
00:50
Further towards the east, a much sunnier day here, but some of us could see freezing fog
00:54
patches lingering throughout the day. If you do see that fog persist, temperatures
00:59
will struggle to climb much above freezing. The fog will also reform and become quite
01:04
dense in places this evening and overnight, particularly through the Vale of York down
01:08
towards East Anglia, but also Northern Ireland has the potential to see some quite widespread
01:12
fog overnight. The cloud in the middle will produce some patchy drizzle in places. That
01:17
could lead to some frosty and icy conditions, particularly where that's falling on frozen
01:23
surfaces. In the east, it is going to be another very cold night, a widespread frost
01:27
developing, not as cold as the one we've just seen, but certainly still sub-freezing for
01:32
many. A contrast though in the west, once again, that milder air that's slowly moving
01:36
its way in will help to keep temperatures on the positive side of the temperature scale
01:41
first thing on Sunday. If you are stepping out in the morning, it is again worth remembering
01:45
that those fog patches will be in place, so some tricky travelling conditions are possible
01:50
around. The fog patches will slowly lift throughout the day, quickest in the northwest
01:55
where we start to see the winds pick up, particularly into the afternoon and the evening. We could
01:59
start to see some gales across the Outer Hebrides as some outbreaks of rain arrive here. Generally
02:04
a calmer day for England and Wales, some sunshine around at times once that fog does eventually
02:08
clear its way off. The temperatures in the south and east are still struggling, 3-4 degrees
02:14
Celsius as your top temperatures here, but that milder air in the northwest allowing
02:19
for 8 degrees Celsius. This milder air will continue to push its way in as we head into
02:25
the new working week and very slowly push its way further towards the south, east and
02:30
well. So as we do head towards Monday and particularly into the middle part of the week,
02:35
temperatures will be rebounding closer towards average for the time of year. We will be losing
02:39
many of those frosty nights, but particularly in the north, temperatures are going to be
02:43
well above average for the time of year with double digit figures across Scotland and Northern
02:48
Ireland. We'll have plenty more updates on what you can expect for the new week of course,
02:52
so do stay up to date on the YouTube channel and across our social media sites. We'll see
02:56
you again here very soon. Bye bye.
