Hello there, very good afternoon to you. After being in control of our weather for the past
00:05
few days, high pressure is now losing its grip across the UK. It's slowly going to be
00:10
drifting off towards the south east, whereas in the north west we've got low pressure starting
00:14
to bring in some frontal systems. This will allow for some patchy outbreaks of rain across
00:18
western Scotland today. Some drizzle is certainly also possible for areas of Northern Ireland
00:23
underneath the widely cloudy skies here. For parts of England and Wales there will be some
00:27
sunny spells around at times to enjoy, but some of us here will also see freezing fog
00:32
patches lingering well into the afternoon. And if that fog does persist, it will be feeling
00:36
quite cool. Temperatures will struggle much above low single figures. Something a touch
00:41
milder in the west though, eight or nine degrees Celsius here. So we start to see winds coming
00:46
in from a southerly direction. Those winds though really will start to strengthen across
00:51
northwestern areas during this evening and overnight. Gales developing quite widely around
00:56
coastal areas, locally turning severe for the Outer Hebrides into the Highlands as well
01:01
as we move towards the early hours of Monday morning. Some heavier pulses of rain also
01:05
arriving here closer towards dawn. There's going to be a drier and calmer night for England
01:10
and Wales with some clear spells around, but underneath those clear skies temperatures
01:14
will drop off more. So some patchy frost is possible for eastern Wales, more widely down
01:18
into southeastern areas of England as well. But just notice how much milder it's going
01:22
to be across the far northwest of Scotland to start off Sunday morning, a 10 degree temperature
01:27
difference between what we'll be experiencing in the southeast. And that is because there's
01:32
winds now really coming in from a southwesterly direction. If we trace the isobars back, we
01:37
can see that the source of that air is coming all the way down from the Atlantic, a very
01:42
mild source being in some very mild conditions for the time of year. Whilst mild, there are
01:49
quite a few isobars on the chart here, so it is going to be quite gusty for Northern
01:54
Ireland and Scotland right throughout Monday. Heavy pulses of rain around at times, quite
01:59
a damp, wet day. The rain will eventually push into parts of Cumbria, the far northwest
02:03
of Wales around Anglesey as well. The rest of England and Wales managing to stay dry,
02:08
but it is going to be noticeably cloudier on Monday compared to those sunny spells we
02:11
do have around today. Still temperatures struggling a touch, but around 5-7 degrees Celsius is
02:18
closer towards average for the time of year here, but widely double figures across Scotland
02:23
and Northern Ireland. And this north-south contrast is going to continue throughout a
02:28
good portion of the forthcoming week. Northern areas will generally be milder, but also windier
02:33
with a greater chance of seeing some rain around at times. In the south you will manage
02:37
to stay dry, but there will be some fog lingering in places and it will also be cooler as well,
02:42
some locally frosty nights still to come as well. We'll have plenty more updates across
02:47
the YouTube channel on what you can expect during the next week, so do subscribe for
02:50
those and we'll see you again here very soon. Bye bye.
