00:02 All right, let's get to the very latest.
00:04 Again, 6 o'clock Eastern, trade deadline coming today.
00:07 We did have a flurry of moves late yesterday.
00:10 That would include the Tampa Bay Rays getting the ball rolling in their
00:15 attempt to get back to the World Series.
00:17 Aaron Savali goes to the Rays.
00:20 In return, the Guardians get one of the top 40 prospects in baseball,
00:24 Kyle Manzardo.
00:25 This is a first baseman with a bunch of power.
00:28 The Rays looking for some more pitching at the deadline.
00:31 The Guardians clearly looking to get a little bit younger.
00:34 They're saying that they're still in this thing and
00:35 they're not handing the division to the twins.
00:39 But certainly Savali, a capable pitcher at the very least,
00:41 they're gonna have to replace him somehow in the rotation.
00:44 Seattle Mariners sending some very mixed messages, I would say.
00:47 Winning games but still trading some players, reconfiguring, who knows.
00:51 The San Francisco Giants make a trade yesterday.
00:54 They get AJ Pollock to help out in their outfield.
00:57 They do a lot of platooning there.
00:59 Also, Mark Mathias goes there as well.
01:01 Pollock is having a miserable season, but the Giants will take him on and
01:05 take on that salary for the remainder.
01:07 Also, Seattle gets a player to be named later.
01:09 So naturally, you can tell this is sort of a money dump there.
01:13 Okay, now the Arizona Diamondbacks,
01:15 remember they were winning the National League West for a long period of time.
01:18 April and May into June, and then the Dodgers caught them.
01:21 And I guess their fans are probably wondering,
01:22 hey, are we gonna make a move of any kind?
01:24 Well, they did yesterday, finally, pulling the trigger to get a closer,
01:28 again, from Seattle.
01:29 This is Paul Seawald.
01:31 Seawald has been Seattle's closer the last couple of years.
01:34 And Seattle, in return, primarily gets a player who can play this year in Josh Rojas.
01:38 They also get a couple of prospects, Dominic Canzone and Ryan Bliss.
01:42 So add Rojas to the Mariners lineup and put Seawald in the ninth inning for
01:48 the Diamondbacks as they chase the postseason.
01:50 Their odds to make the postseason on fan graphs right around the 50% mark, so
01:54 it will be a close one there.
01:56 Milwaukee Brewers, they added Carlos Santana.
01:59 Now they have added Mark Kanha from the New York Mets.
02:02 Again, the Mets just trying to get whatever they can back in return for
02:05 this lost season.
02:07 Justin Jarvis is the prospect that goes over to the Mets for
02:12 Kanha, who can play outfield, he can play first base.
02:15 And Milwaukee just trying to influx a little bit more offense into that team as
02:19 well, so that's what happened there.
02:21 All right, Cincinnati Reds and Oakland A's make somewhat of a minor move.
02:24 Sam Mole goes to the Cincinnati Reds, Oakland A's get Josh Boyle,
02:28 kind of like a prospect low end type swap here.
02:31 But right now the Reds probably gonna be on the active side as far as getting
02:35 starting pitching.
02:36 They've done very little, they're winning the division right now, but
02:38 no trades of any significance coming there.
02:41 Biggest bat potentially off the market in the trade deadline, and
02:44 Heimer Candelario was going back to the Chicago Cubs.
02:48 Candelario, who was rumored to be going in a number of different spots,
02:52 ends up going there.
02:53 Kevin May, DJ Hertz, two of the Cubs' top 20 prospects going in return for
02:58 Candelario.
02:59 Washington simply is playing for 2024 and beyond.
03:03 And Arizona late yesterday made what was probably the final move of the day as it
03:08 appears, as Jace Peterson, who was signed by Oakland in the offseason,
03:12 he goes to the Diamondbacks.
03:14 And what does he do?
03:14 Essentially replaces Josh Rojas on the team.
03:17 The A's get a prospect by the name of Chad Patrick.
03:20 And that's where we stand as far as the trade deadline today.
03:22 I have not seen a single trade today or heard of one as we stand here at 11.06
03:27 here on the East Coast in the morning.
