00:00All right, let's touch quickly on the Miami Marlins.
00:02Max Meyer has season-ending left hip surgery.
00:05Bad news for the Marlins, but we still know how to bet on them.
00:09We understand who they are.
00:10I mean, they're bad, but they're better than the Nationals,
00:13if you look at it statistically.
00:14Sorry, but I feel like I'm more inclined to bet against the Marlins
00:18than I am on the Nats because the Nats seem a bit more spunky.
00:21All right, let's stay in the National League East and talk about the match.
00:24Sean Minaya completely shut down from throwing for a little while
00:27because of the dreaded oblique.
00:29What does this mean to Met fans, Joe Pizzapia?
00:33Well, he's on the I.L. with the oblique,
00:35but he was shut down because of the loose bodies, I guess, in the arm.
00:39And this is something that a lot of pitchers deal with.
00:41They typically end up having those arthroscopic procedures.
00:44They clean it up and everyone's fine.
00:46I remember Cole Hamill's done this a couple times.
00:48Ron Darling's broadcast was really interesting.
00:50Darling was a really good pitcher for a long time in the major leagues.
00:54Knows a lot about pitching.
00:55And he said he's had the same thing twice.
00:57It's a pain tolerance thing.
00:58You know, they give you the cortisone shot, which is what they've done here for Minaya.
01:01So the oblique issue is fine.
01:03It's the loose bodies right now on the elbow that are kind of bothering him a little bit.
01:06But they're going to shut him down from throwing cortisone shot and then get right back after it.
01:10And they need him in the worst way because now Griffin Canning,
01:13he's out for the year with the torn Achilles.
01:15And Canning had pitched really well.
01:17And, you know, Tyler McGill had pitched really well before his injury.
01:20And Kodai Senga was terrific.
01:22The best of the bunch before his injury.
01:24Now, the good news is Senga comes back.
01:26My guess is when McGill comes back, he goes to the bullpen.
01:29If his arm is healthy, he can do that.
01:31But it's been tough for the Mets.
01:32And I think the Mets have to understand that, you know, it's been real cute what they've been able to do.
01:36But if you're going to really compete with the big boys,
01:38you got to go out there and get a big time starter.
01:40And I hope, I hope that they do that in July.
01:42We'll see.
