00:00let's squeeze in some other hot topics here Shohei Ohtani by the way Tom you know he's back
00:03on the mound and you know he's throwing 101.7 miles per hour yesterday two full innings here
00:10on the horizon and if we take a look at his odds to win the MVP at least this one on FanDuel
00:15minus 1450 Tom we've been telling the people out here it's only going to get uglier and you might
00:20say like I'm not taking minus 1450 now yeah good luck in two weeks that's minus 3000 what is your
00:27price point here Tom Ohtani is running away with this thing because he's back on the mound yeah
00:32he's back on the mound and we have been alluding to this really since the start of the season I don't
00:37remember what Ohtani's odds were preseason if we have those or whatever might be but we said listen
00:43he's a favorite if he plays he's going to be in a spot to win the award and then once he gets on the
00:48mound the odds are going to change dramatically and yeah I alluded to like yeah betting plus 100 on
00:53Ohtani to win the the NL MVP is not something that I would ever do nor would I ever recommend and
00:58yeah the odds are obviously suggesting that he's almost a lock to win the award at this point
01:03we I I forget your take on his innings or what he's going to come down to pitching because I know you
01:08and Kevin were talking about it but yeah he's a non-factor essentially when it comes to pitching at
01:12this point do you think what he does on the mound matters to him winning the award or if he goes out
01:18there and he's just okay-ish on the mound to bad but he's still pitching does that matter you know
01:23it's a great question because let's just say Ohtani gets back to his starting form in Los Angeles
01:27right like he used to pitch for the Angels and let's just say he goes to five to six innings and
01:30gives up two or three runs every start but it's still Ohtani at the plate there are going to be
01:35people that say like oh well he had a bad start last night let's knock him down to the MVP are you
01:38kidding me like put Aaron Judge out there to throw six innings and see what he does put Pete Crowe
01:44Armstrong on the mound to see what he does like Ohtani just by himself at the plate is the best
01:49hitter in Major League Baseball let's just say keep it in the National League at this point he's the
01:53MVP so I can't wait till he pitches six innings he gives up five earned runs Tom they go like I don't
01:58know if he could be the MVP now oh no he's still hitting 300 with 45 jacks and just pitched six
02:03innings in a Major League Baseball game and people are going to hold that against like that's what I'm
02:06waiting for like whatever he does I don't even care Tom if he goes five innings and five earned
02:11runs every time out him on the mound is still should be a plus towards his MVP race it's ludicrous
02:17to think anything different yeah that's what it comes down to for me is like at a certain point
02:21I you pitch two innings give up two runs five innings no one runs six innings if he gets there in
02:26September whatever might be and he gives up four home runs and he has you know one strikeout I don't
02:31think that really matters at a certain point the fact that he's doing it people will are people are
02:35drawn to that and they will vote for him
