00:00De'Aaron Fox, Dylan Harper, Stephon Castle, in this moment, would you expect San Antonio to start all three of those guys next season, or a combination of the two, and then if so, which two?
00:15I think it's a combination. I would be going with Fox and Castle, bring Harper off the bench, and then I would look at possibly, you're also forgetting with Devin Vassell.
00:23So there's another piece there that you have to consider. It's going to end up being, and I'll just address it right now, if Ace Bailey is 6'10", I think he's going to.
00:40I think it fits more to what San Antonio needed, because you don't draft Castle, trade for Fox, and then bring in Harper all within a year.
00:58I'm having a hard time with San Antonio. I feel like they were forced in that box of two.
01:02That's why we thought it was intriguing about, would they have traded the pick and moved down and got an additional asset, because they could have gotten something more they needed, and they didn't address it by going with another guard.
01:14Even though I don't like how things have been done, the defense of San Antonio is just, they draft the Castle, by the way, love that pick, right?
01:22Agreed.
01:22And then they get the Rook of the Year. Fox was like, I want to be a Spur, and the Kings were like, whatever, fine.
01:28And the Spurs were like, we get the Aaron Fox for mostly nothing? Yeah, we have to do that.
01:34And then they ended up with a second pick, and they weren't supposed to have the second pick, and they were like, well, he's by far the second best guy on the board.
01:40Even if I don't agree with that, right? I don't know if Coach fully agreed with that, right?
01:44But the perception around the league is Harper was the second best guy, and San Antonio was, we're not going to take a lesser player,
01:54just because we happen to have these other situations play out.
01:59I just think, Tom, it's difficult to get a read on how this team is going to move forward,
02:06because Wemby's the most important guy on the team.
02:11Who's the second most important guy on the San Antonio? Not best!
02:15Who's the second most important team on their vision board? Who's that guy?
02:20I think it might be Harper.
02:22I agree.
02:22I think it might be Harper, and to the initial question of, like, what's the starting,
02:26it's obviously going to be Fox there. We know that Fox is going to be starting.
02:29And then it comes down to, is it going to be Harper or Castle?
02:33My honest thing is, like, try both. Like, there's no harm in trying both.
02:37They are, I would say, we expect them to do what this year? Push for a play-in seed?
02:42Right? Like, that's what their kind of, like, aspirations are this season. Push for a play-in.
02:46Their odds, I believe, are currently seventh of Western Conference teams, maybe, I want to say.
02:52So, that makes, yeah, roughly seventh or eighth, wherever it might be.
02:56Yeah.
02:57But, like, push for a play-in. So, like, that is encouraging to me that they can experiment.
03:03It's not like, oh, we are up against them. We got to figure it out because we're the fourth seed.
03:06We got to figure out what's going on. We have to have our starting lineup set.
03:09I think the experimentation will lead you in that direction.
03:12Like, listen, if Castle doesn't start some games and they want to put Harper in there,
03:16I'm like, listen, Castle comes off the bench and he can be that guy when he comes off the bench.
03:21That's the role he has to play. And if it's the opposite with Harper, it's like, listen,
03:24when you come on the court, there's going to be no Fox and Wemby.
03:27We want you to take control of the offense because we have to see what we have with you.
03:31Because if that's what they see with him, then he is the second most important player behind Wemby.
03:35So, I just think it's almost freeing in an aspect of, like, some games we're going to start Fox and Castle.
03:41Some games it's going to be Fox and Harper.
03:42And you can experiment because they are a young team growing.
03:45And this is the most important time to figure this stuff out.
03:47So, for me, a couple things.
03:50One, I actually would anticipate Fox and Harper start.
03:53Castle only started 47 of the games last year.
03:55Yeah, I was at the...
03:57He was so good once he got the mix.
04:00Because that was when he had the ability for the usage.
04:03So, almost bringing him off the bench will free him to do that.
04:06My thing is, the way you're talking about the Spurs lines up with how some of the odds are and, like, a 34-win team.
04:18Victor Webinyama, if they do not make the playoffs, playoffs, there's going to be some panic in the streets.
04:27That's the reality of it.
04:29LeBron was in the finals year four.
04:31If we go three straight, no playoffs, three straight seasons under .500, now, that won't be the...
04:38But what do you think their win total is going to be right now?
04:40Ballpark, 45-and-a-half?
04:42Does that sound high or low?
04:43That sounds high.
04:44Okay, well, I'll tell you this.
04:45They win 43 games.
04:46People are going to be pretty upset.
04:48Again, play-in team.
04:49They're in a weird spot.
04:51Play-in team.
04:52Play-in last year, by the way, was 48 wins and, you know, all this other stuff.
04:56So, again, the Spurs situation is interesting.
05:00We'll see you next time.
