00:00The Blockbuster deal went down in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 2nd.

00:07So from February 2nd on, here is the outlook for Dallas and for L.A.

00:12The Mavericks in 14 games are 6-8.

00:15Their championship price is now $650 to $1.

00:20Donnie, still with the idea that the Mavs were maybe in win-now mode, a playoff contender

00:25with the addition of Anthony Davis alongside Kyrie Irving, that price even after the deal

00:31was around $40 to $1, not $650 to $1.

00:35Is that a misprint?

00:36Is there one more zero in there than necessary?

00:38Anyway, we'll get to it in just a moment.

00:41The Lakers in 14 games, I know Joe, I'm kidding, the Lakers are 12-2 in the 14 games, winners

00:48of eight in a row, and their price to win a Larry O'Brien trophy, looking more viable,

00:53continues to shrink by the day, is now 13-1.

00:57So that is the scenario of which we set up the Buy Yourself Question.

01:01The Mavericks trading Luka Doncic is already the worst decision in NBA history.

01:08You probably got to buy it.

01:10And let's go through this too, which I always get a laugh when I hear this, like, how did

01:13the trade go down?

01:14Let's get behind the metrics here, what happened?

01:16And the Lakers are like, boy, it was really important to make sure that we kept this on

01:19the down low and nobody knew about it.

01:21Because if anybody got wind and reported that a trade was on the table for Luka and

01:24Anthony Davis, they would have got run out of town in Dallas and never even had a chance

01:28to pull the trigger.

01:29So if you're the Lakers, you love the fact that nobody was actually able to get to the

01:33bottom of it before it actually happened.

01:35And let's understand this, we don't know how the scenario would have worked out if Anthony

01:38Davis was healthy, they're a much better basketball team.

01:41And Kyrie Irving doesn't go down, but they're all factors that play into it because the

01:44optics of the whole move here, everybody in Dallas, let's just go from a Dallas fan perspective,

01:49was upset right away.

01:50He's 25.

01:51Yeah, sometimes he's out of shape, but he's still balls with the best of them.

01:55We're probably going to have him for at least 10 more years.

01:57It's at least something if I'm a season ticket holder or a Mavs fan, every night I turn the

02:00television on, I get to watch Luka.

02:02I'm good with that.

02:03You trade him away and get Anthony Davis, who shows up right away.

02:06He's like, I'm about to have a 40, 40 and 40 night here right off the bat, which the

02:10way he started his first game, then gets injured right away.

02:12Oh, we'll be back in a little bit of time.

02:14They'll still be OK.

02:15Let's see what they can do for the playoffs.

02:16And then Kyrie Irving goes down.

02:18Literally, Luka goes to the Lakers and now they're talking about them being championship

02:22contenders and the Lakers from a standpoint of we just got a 25 year old global superstar

02:27that when LeBron hangs it up, whatever he does, we hand the torch right away over to

02:31him.

02:32What a sensation move for the Lakers and a damaging one for the Mavericks.

02:35And also, if we go like back in the back in time, let's just say like, what would have

02:40been worse when Kobe Bryant was like, I'm not playing for Charlotte.

02:44Forced his way up.

02:45That's one thing.

02:46I mean, you can't call for a body, you know, of three dollars on three cents on the dollar

02:50goes out to L.A. or Shaquille O'Neal, who says, you know what, I want to go to L.A.

02:54And they're like, you can't even afford the salary cap.

02:56And Mr. Stern goes, you know what, let's change the whole salary cap just to make sure they

03:00get to L.A.
