00:00Attention now to our second fight of the evening.
00:0324-year-old Roski Cristobal took this fight on just three days' notice
00:07when the original opponent fell out.
00:09Cristobal started boxing at age seven.
00:11He had a 40-fight amateur career and turned pro seven years ago.
00:15He's fought all but three of his professional fights in the Philippines.
00:19He has fought a couple of times in Mexico.
00:21And in his most recent fight in December,
00:23he traveled all the way to the Ukraine,
00:25where he was stopped in the seventh round.
00:27By 2012, Ukrainian Olympian, Denis Varencik.
00:31His two other losses were both by disqualification for low blows and headbutts.
00:37Cristobal's tall, left-hander, who's at his best from the outside.
00:41He came here to the U.S. in January,
00:43and he did so to train Freddie Roach's wild-card gym,
00:46where he sparred with world titleist Ivan Varencik
00:48in the hopes of being noticed.
00:50Tonight, unexpected opportunity presents itself.
00:54Steve, let's go behind numbers with Roski Cristobal.
00:59We begin with road game, Barry.
01:00Cristobal is trained here, but he's never fought in the U.S.A.
01:03He's been inactive only one fight in 2018.
01:06And he took this fight on three days' notice.
01:09He's 15-0 home, 0-3 on the road.
01:12Rule breaker.
01:12Cristobal's nickname translates to gentle giant,
01:15but he's apparently not so gentle.
01:17In 2016, as Barry mentioned,
01:19he was disqualified in back-to-back fights
01:21for blatantly butting and punching long.
01:24So, referee beware.
01:25And finally, easy KOs.
01:26Cristobal has 11 KOs and 15 wins,
01:29which suggests he can bang a bit.
01:31But only one of the KOs has come against an opponent
01:34with a winning record.
01:36Well, referee beware and Dutch over beware.
01:40Yes.
01:41He's going to have to be very much aware of what goes on in the ring,
01:44particularly in close quarters.
01:45Talking about Michael, West Texas warrior, Dutch over.
01:49He's a two-year pro.
01:51He's 12-0 over that time with nine knockouts,
01:53and he comes in here on a four-fight knockout streak.
01:57He had a productive amateur career.
01:58That included 150 fights.
02:00He won 130 of them.
02:01He says the only ones he remembers, though, are the losses.
02:05He's a native of Midland, Texas,
02:07but he relocated to Santa Fe Springs here in California back in January
02:10to elevate his training.
02:12He's been getting good sparring with the likes of Oscar Valdez,
02:16Jesse McDonnell, and Peter Petrov.
02:18He refers to himself as a boxer puncher,
02:21but he's quick to add he used to go in there
02:23and just try to knock guys out.
02:25He says, now I don't get hit nearly as much.
02:30So Dutch over coming by way of Midland, Texas, oil country,
02:35but he couldn't find much sparring there,
02:36and that's the reason he came west to California.
02:39He says he could see the improvement in himself.
02:42So, Steve, let's go behind the numbers with Michael Dutcher.
02:46A familiar name, Barry.
02:47Dutcher was faced only one opponent hardcore fans might know,
02:51the veteran southpaw Ruben Tamayo.
02:53But Tamayo was on the downside.
02:54He had lost seven of his previous eight.
02:57Cameo, for instance.
02:58Dutcher was four-fight KO streak is a good thing,
03:00but the quick work has limited his rounds.
03:03He's never been past the sixth,
03:05but Cristobal's been 10th.
03:06And looking left, Cristobal's a southpaw,
03:09and Dutcher was preparing, of course, for a right-hander.
03:12But it might help that his two most recent fights were against lefties.
03:15All right, so we are ready for our second fight of this tripleheader
03:18from the Omega Products Events Center here in Corona, California.
03:22Michael Dutcher versus Roski Cristobal.
03:26Eight rounds in the lightweight division.
03:29Let's get you back to the center of the ring.
03:31Fighter introductions for this second fight.
03:33Here once more, our ring announcer, Thomas Trott.
03:36Thomas?
03:39Ladies and gentlemen, Showbox, the new generation continues
03:42with eight rounds scheduled in the super lightweight division.
03:47And it is being brought to you by Arthur Palullo's Banner Promotions
03:51and Thompson Boxing Promotions in association with Showtime.
03:56Along with their great sponsor, Makita Power Tools.
04:00Remember to rule the outdoors with Makita's outdoor power equipment.
04:06The three judges assigned, scoring on a 10-point must system,
04:11will be Carla Calliz, Max DeLuca, and Dr. Lou Moret.
04:17Our referee in charge, third man in the ring, will be Zachary Young.
04:23Introducing to you first, fighting tonight out of the blue corner,
04:30he's wearing pink with white and black,
04:33and weighed in at 137 and three-quarter pounds.
04:37Coming to us from President Rojas North, Cotabato, Philippines,
04:42he brings a professional record consisting of 15 wins,
04:46three defeats, with 11 of his 15 wins,
04:50coming by way of knockout.
04:53Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome
04:55Roski, Little Giant, Cristobal.
05:02And his opponent across the ring,
05:05fighting tonight out of the red corner,
05:07he's wearing camouflage with gold,
05:09and weighed in at 138 pounds.
05:12Fighting out of Santa Fe Springs, California,
05:16by way of Midland, Texas.
05:20He is undefeated with 12 wins.
05:23Nine of his 12 wins come by way of knockout.
05:28Ladies and gentlemen,
05:29here is Michael, West Texas Warrior, Dutch Over!
05:34Boxer Chief second.
05:40Boxer Chief, you're going to get your mouthpiece in there, Roski.
05:43Okay, Roski, Michael,
05:44we already talked about the instructions,
05:45your shorts are good,
05:46so there's nothing left to say to both people,
05:47but good luck.
05:53You ready, Mark?
05:55Yeah.
05:55Okay, okay.
05:58Tale of the tape for these two.
06:00Cristobal, the tall and rangy type.
06:02He has a three-inch reach advantage,
06:03but he doesn't often keep his opponents at a distance,
06:06so that reach advantage is no advantage at all.
06:09And the rules here are the California state rules.
06:11A couple of differences here.
06:13The fighter cannot be saved by the bell
06:15except for the last round,
06:16and the fight becomes official
06:18after the start of round four,
06:20not the end of round four.
06:22Ready, Roski?
06:23Ready, Michael?
06:25So here we go, round one of a scheduled eight rounder,
06:28and Dutchover just goes for the leaping right hand,
06:31which missed by about a foot and a half.
06:36Rather, it was,
06:36I bet your partner was Cristobal,
06:38who went for that.
06:40See, amateur experience.
06:41Dutchover, had a good amateur career,
06:44silver medal in the 2016 National Golden Gloves.
06:48Cristobal, 49 fights, all domestic,
06:50in the Philippines.
06:51Stop punching my break.
06:52Let's go.
06:53And pro experience,
06:54you see that Cristobal has been a pro much longer.
06:56Hasn't, doesn't have that many more fights,
06:58but he does have 73 rounds
07:00compared to 39 for Dutch over.
07:04Cristobal just kind of pawing with that jab.
07:07He has tendency to carry that hand a little bit low.
07:09He leaps in.
07:11You can see where headbutts would be
07:13a concern,
07:14because he does,
07:15he just jumps in.
07:16Well, not only that,
07:17he does it on purpose, too.
07:19If you saw the fight with Neri Sagiland,
07:21he was repeated headbutts
07:24in the third round,
07:24and he got disqualified,
07:25so he's a dirty fighter.
07:28He's got a shot in the right hand.
07:30Tell him, Raoul.
07:31Yeah, tell him.
07:31He is.
07:33You know, Dutchover really has to watch his head.
07:36He's got to keep him on the outside.
07:39Well, if you're Dutchover,
07:40maybe the best way to approach this fight
07:41is get rid of him as fast as you can.
07:43Yes.
07:44If you need, you can.
07:44Yeah.
07:46Then you don't have to worry about
07:47butts and low blows.
07:48And it appears that's what he's trying to do.
07:49And just to put a quick
07:52ribbon on the last fight,
07:56Sanchez was ahead on all three cards,
07:58comfortably ahead at the time of the stoppage.
08:00And he goes down,
08:02and it was a body shot.
08:03I think they dropped him.
08:04Four, five, six, seven.
08:07That might be it.
08:08Eight, nine, ten.
08:09That might be it.
08:09It was a body shot with a left hand,
08:11and that's it.
08:12He hurt you, Steve.
08:13He hurt you.
08:15He got rid of him as fast as he could, yeah?
08:16I think it was a left hand to the body,
08:20and then he came upstairs with a left hand,
08:22but it was the body shot that did it.
08:28Not a low blow or a butt to be found, Ben.
08:30I'm a little disappointed.
08:32Didn't happen, did it?
08:34He is still down on all four,
08:36so it was a big-time shot.
08:38You okay, Dr. Robertson?
08:39Well, he looked every bit at three-day sub,
08:43as it turned out.
08:43Yes, he did.
08:44Yes, he did.
08:46And for Dutch over, it'll be another W.
08:48It'll be another knockout.
08:49And easy money.
08:50Easy money.
08:52Easy fight, easy money.
08:53Yeah.
08:54National television debut.
08:56It seems almost silly to say
08:58we'd like to see more of Dutch over,
08:59because we didn't see very much.
09:00No, we didn't.
09:01We kind of saw Dutch under.
09:03Just give me an elbow.
09:05Nudge me when the fight begins.
09:06He did nothing wrong with what he did.
09:11Cristobal's still hurting from that shot.
09:14He wants to leave the ring.
09:18Cristobal does.
09:21Now, he's still in some pain.
09:22We're going to get a chance to see the entire fight once again.
09:25Sure we have time for that?
09:26I'm not sure.
09:28Yeah, that was quick.
09:29That was...
09:30Ready, Roski?
09:31All right, let's watch the whole thing again.
09:36And that was it.
09:38That was his...
09:39Yeah, just about...
09:39That one punch was his try to win.
09:47The truth is, Cristobal just provided zero.
09:53Well, sometimes you get that with substitutes.
09:55Every promoter, every matchmaker,
09:57every television network has been through it.
09:58Do you see my break?
09:59It happens.
09:59Do you want your head in here, Roski?
10:01Let's go.
10:03Maybe we whetted the appetites of the public
10:05for Michael Dutch over to see more of him.
10:07Yeah.
10:07A legitimate prospect.
10:08And a good prospect.
10:10Yeah, a good prospect.
10:11Taking the sport very serious now.
10:13We talked about the fact that he moved to the West Coast
10:15from Midland, Texas.
10:17He told us he had to drive four hours one way
10:19and four hours back to Dallas
10:20to get any kind of decent sparring prior to moving here.
10:24That's a lot of discipline,
10:25especially for a young guy to do something like that, Barry,
10:27and then, you know, move from Midland, Texas
10:29to California to get better sparring.
10:32I mean, that tells you that he really wants it.
10:34You can see those body shots
10:36already starting to take effect.
10:43Yeah, Dutch over had the right idea early in this fight.
10:47Bang the body.
10:52I think we're about to see the finish right here.
10:57You see, every time Dutch over punched,
11:08counterpunched, he aimed for the body.
11:09That was it.
11:10Right-left combination, the left hook to the liver.
11:13Yep.
11:13Five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, out.
11:19Well, that was that.
11:23Hello, goodbye.
11:24And Michael Dutch over is 13-0
11:26with ten knockouts along the way.
11:29Let's make it all official now.
11:30We go to the center of the ring once more.
11:32Here's Thomas Tres.
11:36Ladies and gentlemen,
11:37here is the official time.
11:39One minute, 46 seconds of round number one.
11:43Our referee in charge,
11:44Zachary Young,
11:45reaches the count of ten.
11:48Therefore, your winner by way of knockout
11:50and still undefeated,
11:54Michael West Texas Warrior,
11:57Dutch over.
11:58So there's your winner.
12:16He is now 13-0 with 10 knockouts.
12:20And I have an idea.
12:22We will see the West Texas Warrior yet another time.
12:26You almost feel bad for a fighter like this because, you know, he was all pumped up to do his thing.
12:31And, yeah, he's happy he won on national television by knockout.
12:34But he really didn't get a chance to show his stuff.
12:36No, it's really hard to tell.
12:38And against an awkward and really underqualified opponent, I think it's fair to say.
12:43Here's another look at the end of it all.
12:46Good left hand of the body there.
12:47He started to go down from that.
12:49Then it was almost just a little tap on the top of the head.
12:52And that was it.
12:53Yeah, and he made it look so easy.
12:54If you see, like, it was not even forceful, not even showing like he was forcing that power.
13:00Just let it go.
13:01But you talk about it all the time.
13:02It's where that punch lands.
13:04Yeah, and he got good leverage.
13:05He got good leverage on them shots.
13:08You know, speed is power.
13:09It's so quick.
13:10See that left hook right there?
13:12And then, well, that's what ended.
13:14But it was first the right hand, then the left hook.
13:16But it was quick.
13:17Yeah.
13:17It's out of nowhere.
13:18And what he did was he was smart because he saw the elbows of his opponent were together.
13:24And he threw that left hook around the right elbow of Cristobal, and that's why it landed.
13:33All right.
13:33Now we turn our attention to our main event of the evening.
13:36It is scheduled for 10 rounds.
13:38It's a...
