Today, Rupert goes on holiday in Rupert and the Sandcastle.
00:16
There's a little bear that you've ever seen before, who's a lot of fun.
00:23
Children everywhere, go to love him more and more, he's the number one.
00:30
There's a million stories to be told of the things that he's done.
00:37
And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.
00:43
Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.
00:50
Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join.
00:56
It's a hot August Saturday morning.
01:09
Rupert and Mr. and Mrs. Bear are going on holiday.
01:11
Rupert, Rupert, I don't think I can get my suitcase closed, puffs Rupert.
01:19
I've got the sandwiches all packed up now, says Mrs. Bear, coming in from the kitchen.
01:23
Come along.
01:25
We must hurry or we'll miss the train, exclaims Mr. Bear.
01:28
Bill Badger and Edward Trunk are going on holiday with Mr. and Mrs. Bear and Rupert, too.
01:35
And they're already waiting at the station.
01:39
Ah, good, you're both here, says Mr. Bear.
01:42
Hope you've remembered everything.
01:43
Yes, and I've got my fishing rod, too, says Bill.
01:49
I can hear the train coming.
01:52
Now the journey is beginning and the carriage wheels are spinning.
01:57
The rails go clack and clickety-clack, hurry along the holiday track.
02:02
They've saved their money, they've lots to spend.
02:06
Oh, don't let this holiday ever end.
02:08
We'll collect small stones and shells galore and build sandcastles on the shore.
02:15
There'll be donkey rides if you like the saddle, or you can go in the sea and have a paddle.
02:21
We're nearly there now, dears, says Mrs. Bear as the train starts slowing down.
02:27
Walk, shaman sea, shouts the guard.
02:30
We're here. Come along. Don't leave anything behind.
02:33
The tide is out when Rupert and his chums get to the beach.
02:39
I'm going to collect some shells first, announces Rupert.
02:43
Yes, and I can see some nice coloured stones.
02:46
I'm going to collect those.
02:49
Don't forget we promised to get some shells for Pung Ping, reminds Edward.
02:54
Oh, yes. It was an oyster shell he really wanted.
02:58
But I don't expect we'll find one here.
02:59
I found a funny bit of seaweed. It's like a flag.
03:05
Hey, this looks like an oyster shell.
03:09
Yes, I think it is.
03:11
It's a bit worn, but a lovely colour.
03:15
That should be all right for Pung Ping.
03:17
Let's build a super sandcastle now, suggests Rupert.
03:24
Oh, you should build a sandcastle.
03:27
I'm going to sunbathe and have a nap, says Edward, yawning.
03:31
That train journey has made me tired.
03:34
Rupert and Bill build a sandcastle high,
03:49
whilst Edward Trunk sleeps on the beach nearby.
03:53
Round the sides they make the walls oh so steep,
03:57
and Rupert puts the flag on the top of the keep.
03:59
They stand back and admire the castle with pride,
04:04
knowing at last it will be washed away by the tide.
04:08
I think that's the best one we've ever made.
04:12
Listen, let's make up a story about it before the sea washes it away.
04:17
Hmm, yes, Rupert.
04:19
Tell me who lives there.
04:20
Well, there's a queen, so she must be a sand queen.
04:27
And she's got lots of knights in shining armour.
04:30
Bill's now getting the idea of the story,
04:32
and can't wait to join in.
04:35
Yes, Rupert.
04:36
And there has to be a beautiful princess.
04:39
What's her name?
04:41
I know.
04:42
Her name must be Amanda.
04:44
And somebody has got to do some fine deed.
04:46
Rupert doesn't finish his sentence.
04:51
As he and Bill are looking at their sandcastle,
04:55
it begins to grow larger and larger,
04:59
until it's big enough for them to walk over the drawbridge.
05:05
Gosh, Bill, says Rupert in amazement.
05:09
What's happened?
05:11
They see a knight in armour beckoning them to enter.
05:13
Er, did you want to speak to us?
05:17
Asks Rupert.
05:19
The sand queen wishes you to visit her.
05:23
Please get on to the sand sledge,
05:25
and I will take you both to her,
05:27
urges the knight.
05:29
Do you always travel on sand sledges?
05:31
Asks Rupert as they clamber on.
05:34
We have many long corridors,
05:36
and find that this is the only way to travel.
05:39
Don't ask him any more questions, Rupert.
05:43
I'm a little bit frightened,
05:45
whispers Bill.
05:46
We are here,
05:48
says the knight,
05:49
as he gets off
05:49
and goes towards a large wooden door
05:52
made from an old shipwreck.
05:54
Come along, Bill.
05:55
We must follow him.
05:57
The knight knocks on the door.
06:01
Enter,
06:02
says a voice.
06:03
Your majesty,
06:07
I have brought Rupert
06:08
and his friend Bill,
06:09
announces the knight.
06:13
You may leave us,
06:15
orders the sand queen.
06:18
I am sorry I have brought you here
06:20
at short notice,
06:21
but it is most urgent,
06:23
she says to Rupert and Bill.
06:25
It's my small daughter,
06:27
the sand princess Amanda.
06:28
She has a strange illness
06:31
that can only be cured
06:32
by the oyster shell
06:33
which you have in your pocket.
06:36
But I can't give it to you,
06:38
your majesty.
06:39
That is a great pity,
06:42
because I cannot allow you
06:43
to leave the castle.
06:45
Why don't you give it
06:46
to the queen, Rupert?
06:47
You don't want the silly old shell.
06:49
Well, that's just it.
06:51
I don't want it.
06:52
But Pong Ping has wanted one
06:54
like this for ages,
06:55
explains Rupert.
06:56
Oh, please give it to her.
07:00
Perhaps if I take you
07:01
to see the princess,
07:03
you might change your mind,
07:05
says the queen.
07:06
I'm scared.
07:08
The queen might never
07:09
let us out of here.
07:11
This way.
07:13
Come on, we'd better go.
07:15
Rupert and Bill follow the queen
07:17
into the princess's bedroom.
07:19
She's lying on a bed of sea moss.
07:21
Amanda,
07:23
I've brought Rupert
07:25
and his friend Bill
07:26
to see you.
07:28
The princess
07:29
turns her head slowly
07:30
to look at them.
07:32
We're sorry that you're ill.
07:35
Is it true that you need
07:36
the oyster shell
07:36
to make you better?
07:38
Asks Rupert.
07:39
But the only answer
07:40
she gives to Rupert
07:41
is a nod of her head.
07:43
All right.
07:44
I'll give you the shell,
07:45
your majesty.
07:46
But I should like to wait
07:47
and see if it works.
07:51
Oh, Rupert,
07:52
must we stay?
07:54
Yes.
07:56
Yes, she is,
07:57
says Bill.
07:59
The queen carries a bowl
08:01
very carefully.
08:03
I've ground your shell
08:05
to a powder
08:05
to make the medicine,
08:07
she says.
08:08
The queen bends down
08:10
towards the princess.
08:12
Her mother holds it
08:13
to her lips
08:13
as from the bowl
08:15
the princess sips.
08:16
Gosh, look, Bill.
08:18
The princess is sitting up.
08:21
She must be getting better.
08:23
Oh, thank goodness.
08:25
Perhaps we can go now.
08:27
Bill sounds very relieved.
08:29
Amanda is well again,
08:31
says the queen
08:32
as the princess
08:32
rises from her bed.
08:35
Princess Amanda,
08:37
I am pleased
08:38
that you are better,
08:39
says Rupert,
08:40
and that the oyster shell
08:41
was successful.
08:43
Without your help,
08:45
I would still be ill.
08:47
I'd like to thank you
08:48
very much for bringing it,
08:50
explains the princess.
08:52
Come now.
08:54
Let us see what I can give Rupert
08:56
for his kindness.
08:57
I should like to give you
08:59
one of our special shells
09:00
for your friend,
09:02
says the queen,
09:03
handing Rupert
09:03
a large and beautiful one.
09:05
And here's something from me,
09:08
Rupert,
09:09
a pearl necklace
09:10
from the deep sea.
09:14
Oh, Rupert,
09:15
look,
09:16
we're with our own
09:18
sandcastle again.
09:21
Mr. and Mrs. Bear
09:22
walk towards them.
09:24
Oh, what a lovely castle
09:26
you've built,
09:27
exclaims Mrs. Bear.
09:28
They both take
09:29
another look at it.
09:31
That isn't just
09:32
any old sandcastle mummy,
09:34
says Rupert seriously.
09:36
No, dear,
09:37
why is that?
09:39
Rupert tells her
09:41
where he and Bill
09:41
have been
09:42
and how they made
09:43
the princess well again.
09:45
I think you've both
09:46
been dreaming.
09:48
Mrs. Bear turns around.
09:51
Just look at Edward.
09:52
He's still in the land
09:54
of adventure.
10:08
But we have seen
10:09
the sand queen.
10:11
Look at this.
10:13
And Rupert shows her
10:14
the pearl necklace.
10:24
Rupert,
10:33
Rupert the Bell,
10:35
everyone's in his name.
10:39
Rupert,
10:40
Rupert the Bell,
10:42
everyone come and join
10:45
in all of his name.
10:50
Rupert,
10:51
Rupert the Bell,
10:52
everyone come and join
10:55
in all of his name.
11:03
Rupert.
