00:00Today, Rupert helps the witch, who in turn tries to help him, in Rupert and the Red Map.

00:16There's a little bear that you've never seen before, who's a lot of fun.

00:23Children everywhere, so they love him more and more, he's the number one.

00:30There's a million stories to be told, of the things that he's done.

00:37And he's gonna share them all with you, so come along.

00:44Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone sing his name.

00:50Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone come and join, in all of his game.

01:05Rupert comes into the kitchen.

01:08Daddy, it's stopped raining, can I go and play? he asks.

01:13Yes, of course.

01:16But goodness, how you've grown, exclaims Mr Bear.

01:20That old Mac is much too small.

01:23You must go down to the shop and buy a new one right away.

01:26And he gives Rupert some money.

01:28All right, says Rupert. I won't be long. Bye.

01:33And off he goes down the lane.

01:36Hello, Rupert, says Podgy.

01:39Where are you going?

01:41To buy a new Mac, explains the little bear.

01:44Mine's too short.

01:45That's funny, because I'm going to buy a new one.

01:48Look, mine's too small too.

01:51I can't even button it.

01:53I've grown out of mine long ways, and you've grown out of your side ways, Podgy, chuckles Rupert.

02:03Oh, look, whispers Podgy nervously as they enter the shop.

02:07The witch is here too.

02:09And he hides behind Rupert, just to be on the safe side.

02:13Good morning, says Rupert timidly.

02:17Hello, Rupert, says the witch cheerfully.

02:21No, not that one, she continues as the shop assistant holds up a coat.

02:26I want a really thick one.

02:29The assistant sighs as he adds the coat to the large pile of coats and cloaks on the counter,

02:37and goes off to look for yet another.

02:40I didn't know witches bought things, says Rupert, surprised.

02:45Well, I could magic one, she explains.

02:49But I can never magic one the right size.

02:53Ah, that's more like it, she adds as the assistant returns with another coat.

03:00Rupert, look, hisses Podgy.

03:03Rupert turns as...

03:05The witch's broomstick sweeps a whole pile of boxes onto the floor.

03:10Madam, will you please keep your broomstick under control, cries the assistant, as...

03:16Another pile of boxes are swept off the shelves.

03:20Naughty, naughty.

03:22The witch seizes her broomstick and puts it firmly in the corner.

03:26Now stay there.

03:29What do you think of this coat? she asks Rupert.

03:34Oh, it, um, it looks very nice, he says politely.

03:38It's lovely and warm, too.

03:41The witch is pleased.

03:43Yes, I'll have this one.

03:47The assistant breathes a sigh of relief as he makes out the bill.

03:51Look out, shouts Rupert, as the broomstick sweeps the coats off the counter.

03:58It's about to sweep another pile of boxes off a shelf, but...

04:02Too late.

04:04Oh dear, sighs the witch looking round the shop.

04:08I'd better clear this up for you.

04:11No, madam, please don't bother, he cries.

04:14Here's the bill.

04:15I'll just wrap the coat for you.

04:17Oh, how kind, but I...

04:20I think I'll wear it.

04:22The assistant hands the witch her change.

04:25Thank you, good day, madam, he says hopefully.

04:28But the witch is staring helplessly at her buttons.

04:32Now, what can I do for you, young sirs?

04:35I want a red mac like that one there, says Rupert eagerly.

04:40So do I, adds Podgy.

04:42The assistant looks nervously at the witch, who is still trying to button her coat,

04:47and brings the two macs for Rupert and Podgy.

04:50I don't seem able to button these buttons.

04:54Here, let me, says Rupert helpfully.

04:57I've never buttoned buttons before, because I usually wear a cloak, she explains.

05:02There.

05:03Thank you, Rupert.

05:05Now, have you both chosen?

05:08She asks.

05:09Yes.

05:10Yes.

05:11Both Rupert and Podgy are pleased with their new red macs.

05:14In that case, I'll give you something special to go with them.

05:18In fine or foul weather, carry them hither, where'er they wish to go.

05:26The wind shrieks suddenly, the door flies open, and the witch sails off on her broomstick

05:33into the sky.

05:34Goodbye.

05:35Oh, my goodness gracious me, cries Podgy.

05:40What's she done?

05:42Rupert looks anxiously down at his mac.

05:46Well, it looks the same.

05:49There's nothing wrong with those macs, declares the assistant firmly.

05:53Best quality.

05:54Keep out everything, they will.

05:56And he rings up the till in a determined manner.

05:59Come on, says Rupert eagerly.

06:02Let's try out our new macs in the puddles.

06:05Oh, I wish, I wish we were on the common right now, cries impatiently.

06:11And they're both bowling along, bouncing up and down like two rubber balls, with their

06:17macs billowing out before them.

06:20Oh, oh, oh, oh!

06:23Rupert and Podgy are absolutely astonished as they reach the common and stop as suddenly

06:28as they'd started.

06:30Oh, I'll have to sit down, mutters Podgy, feeling rather shaken.

06:34Rupert looked round, puzzled.

06:37How ever did we get here so fast?

06:40Oh, well, let's find a puddle to splash about in now we're here.

06:45But the puddles have all dried up.

06:48Oh, I wish, I wish I was at the seaside.

06:56Then I could really try out my new mac.

06:59Pudgy, he gasps.

07:00I can't stop.

07:01Pull me back.

07:02I've got you, says Podgy, pulling with all his strength.

07:04But I can't hold you.

07:05It's not me, protests the little bear.

07:06I'm trying to stop, but I can't.

07:07Oh, and I can't hang on any longer, puffs Podgy, letting go.

07:08And Rupert bounces over the common.

07:10He sees Edward.

07:11Edward, he shouts.

07:12Edward, help.

07:13What's the matter?

07:14Asks Edward, running up.

07:15I can't stop.

07:16Can you give me a pull?

07:18Edward catches hold of Rupert's mac and pulls.

07:20But he, too, is pulled along until he trips over a bramble.

07:24Over the common goes Rupert bear.

07:25Although he doesn't want to be there.

07:26I wish I were home, safe and sound.

07:27With mummy and my friends all around.

07:28I can't stop.

07:29He sees Edward.

07:31Edward, he shouts.

07:32Edward, help.

07:58And Rupert finds, much to his relief,

08:01that it's no longer pulling him away from home.

08:04He turns.

08:06And the mac starts to pull once again.

08:09But this time in the direction of his cottage.

08:12Rupert gasps with astonishment.

08:15Why?

08:16It's a magic mac.

08:17Of course the witch put a spell on it.

08:20He experiments.

08:22I wish, I wish I were at school.

08:26The mac promptly billows out towards the school.

08:29I wish, I wish I was at Pong Ping's house.

08:32And the mac billows out in that direction.

08:35Rupert gets carried away and makes so many wishes

08:38that he spins round like a top.

08:40Edward and Poggy catch up.

08:42Both huffing and panting for all they're worth.

08:46Rupert, what are you doing?

08:49Puffs Poggy.

08:50These macs are magic, Poggy.

08:52Oh do, let's go back in the ordinary way.

08:56Edward begs.

08:58Mrs. Bear admires the macs.

09:01But she doesn't approve of the witch's spell at all.

09:05It could be dangerous, she warns Poggy and Rupert.

09:09Supposing you made a wish and the mac made you step out into the road.

09:14You must go and see the witch and ask her to remove the spell at once.

09:19There's a knock at the door.

09:22I'll go mummy, says Rupert.

09:25He opens the door to the witch and her broomstick.

09:28I've forgotten the spell for undoing my coat buttons, she sighs.

09:34Oh, I'll teach you to button and unbutton in no time, cries Mrs. Bear.

09:40But first, you must remove the spell that you put on Rupert and Poggy's macs.

09:45Well, that's simple. My broomstick can brush it away, says the witch.

09:50Oh, that tickles, giggles Poggy, as the broomstick gets to work

09:55and sweeps away the magic on Poggy and Rupert's macs.

09:59The witch is a good pupil and learns to button and unbutton her coat in no time.

10:05There, you've got it, says Mrs. Bear,

10:08after the witch has successfully buttoned her coat for the seventh time.

10:12You see, you can't rely on magic all the time.

10:16And Rupert and Poggy agree.

10:29Rupert, Rupert the Bell, everyone's in his name.
