Good morning, this is the latest weather update this Monday, December 9, 2024.
00:07
At present, we are not being monitored by LPA or typhoons inside and outside of our Philippine Area of Responsibility,
00:15
although we can still expect that a large part of our country will experience rainy season,
00:21
along with the weather systems that are affecting our region.
00:25
So, let's look at the weather systems that are affecting our country one by one.
00:30
First is the Northeast Monsoon or Hanging Amihan, which is affecting the northern Luzon area.
00:37
It will be accompanied by cloudy skies, along with rains in Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.
00:47
In our latest satellite image, we can see the line of clouds affecting the southern Luzon area.
00:54
It will be accompanied by cold and hot winds.
00:58
That is the shear line.
01:00
We can see that it will bring heavy clouds to a large part of the southern Luzon area.
01:07
So, we can expect heavy rains to a large part of the southern Luzon area.
01:13
Meanwhile, here in Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao,
01:18
we can also see heavy clouds that will bring heavy rains to a large part of the southern Luzon area.
01:24
That is the Intertropical Convergence Zone or ITCC.
01:28
We can expect that it will bring dark clouds to a large part of the southern Philippine area.
01:36
Because of the three weather systems that are affecting our country,
01:41
it will bring heavy rains to a large part of our region.
01:44
In the next few days, this shear line will still bring heavy rains.
01:49
Tomorrow, there will be more areas that will experience heavy rains due to the effect of the shear line.
02:00
Meanwhile, tomorrow, the effect of the Intertropical Convergence Zone
02:05
in Visayas and Mindanao will still continue.
02:07
However, the areas that will experience heavy rains will be reduced.
02:13
Now, we know what the weather conditions will be like here in the southern Luzon area.
02:19
We saw earlier that the Northeast Monsoon and the shear line are affecting some parts of the Luzon area.
02:26
Particularly, here in Cagayan Valley and in the Cordillera Administrative Region,
02:32
the sky will be cloudy and there will be light to moderate the effects of heavy rains.
02:40
Meanwhile, in Quezon and in some parts of the Bicol Region or in the Bicol Region area
02:46
as well as in the provinces of Rizal, Laguna, Batangas, Marinduque, Romblon, and Oriental Mindoro,
02:55
the weather will be cloudy today,
02:58
except for the areas that will experience heavy rains due to the effect of the shear line.
03:07
In the large part of Luzon, particularly in the Ilocos Region,
03:12
in the large part of Central Luzon, here in Metro Manila,
03:14
in Cavite, as well as in Occidental Mindoro,
03:18
although it will be partly cloudy,
03:21
the chances of sudden or quick rains will be high,
03:27
due to isolated thunderstorms, especially when it comes to the afternoon or evening.
03:32
To our fellowmen who are leaving their homes,
03:35
we will just put up an umbrella or any kind of shelter from the rain
03:39
and we will monitor the thunderstorm advisory issued by our ASA Regional Service.
03:44
For the temperature forecast for the surrounding cities here in Luzon,
03:50
the maximum temperatures will be slightly lower
03:53
because we expect that the weather will be cloudy in the large part of the Luzon area.
03:58
Here in Tuguegarao, we expect maximum temperatures at 27°C
04:03
and maximum temperatures at 30°C for Lawag.
04:07
The maximum temperature for Baguio will be 16°C to 23°C
04:14
Here in Metro Manila, it will be 24°C to 31°C,
04:19
25°C to 30°C for Legazpi City,
04:22
and for Tagaytay, it will be 21°C to 29°C.
04:28
As for the weather forecast for the large part of our country,
04:33
here in Hepalawan, Visayas and Mindanao,
04:35
as we mentioned earlier,
04:37
due to the effect of the Intertropical Convergence Zone,
04:39
we expect that the weather will be cloudy for the whole day
04:44
and it will be accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms.
04:48
As for the temperature forecast for the surrounding cities here in Hepalawan, Visayas and Mindanao,
04:54
the maximum temperatures will be slightly lower.
04:57
It will reach 29°C here in Kalayaan Islands,
05:01
30°C for Puerto Princesa,
05:04
31°C maximum temperatures for Iloilo,
05:07
Cebu, and Tacloban.
05:10
Meanwhile, in Cagayan de Oro, it will reach 31°C and 32°C
05:15
maximum temperatures for Zamboanga and Metro Davao.
05:21
This is our latest weather advisory as of 5am.
05:26
This indicates the possibility of heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours.
05:32
The areas or provinces highlighted in yellow
05:36
are the areas where it is possible to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
05:41
This is a 24-hour accumulated rainfall.
05:44
Rainfall could reach up to 100 mm
05:48
for the next 24 hours.
05:51
Particularly in the provinces of Aurora,
05:53
Quezon, Camarines Provinces, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon,
05:58
Northern Summer and Eastern Summer,
06:01
Dinagat Islands, Marinduque and Oriental Mindoro,
06:05
as well as here in Palawan.
06:07
The areas we mentioned for the next 24 hours
06:11
could experience heavy rainfall.
06:15
Highly susceptible are the areas in low-lying areas
06:19
or near rivers,
06:22
possibly flooding as well as landslides,
06:25
especially in highly susceptible areas.
06:28
So, double caution to our countrymen
06:31
in the areas mentioned today.
06:35
As for the sea,
06:38
we have high waves
06:41
in the provinces of Northern Luzon and Eastern Seaboard of Central Luzon.
06:46
Particularly in Batanes,
06:48
along with Baboyan Islands,
06:50
in the provinces of Isabela,
06:52
Northern Aurora,
06:54
as well as Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur,
06:57
in the northern portion of La Union
06:59
and in Western Pangasinan.
07:01
High waves could reach up to 5 meters.
07:04
So, it is dangerous to go there,
07:06
especially for our countrymen
07:08
who have small sea vehicles
07:10
and our fishermen.
07:12
So, we are cautioning the areas mentioned
07:15
or our countrymen
07:17
not to go there first.
07:20
This morning, the sun rises at 6.10 a.m.
07:24
and will set later at 5.27 p.m.
