Happy Thursday to all of us, I am Benison Estareja.
00:04
The rain is expected today and the following days in a large part of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
00:11
because of the upcoming Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, which is slowly being intensified by this storm
00:17
that is outside of our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
00:20
This storm that is outside is a severe tropical storm with an international name, Bibingka,
00:25
and is located at an altitude of more than 1,900 kilometers above the central zone,
00:29
with a strong wind of 95 kilometers per hour,
00:32
and it is expected to intensify as the northern part of the Philippine Sea plus the Pacific Ocean.
00:39
Based on the latest forecast, it is expected that the storm will continue to intensify
00:45
and possibly become a typhoon before it enters our Philippine Area of Responsibility tomorrow night.
00:51
If ever, we will call this storm Ferdie or the sixth storm for this year.
00:57
It is expected that this storm will continue to intensify until the Philippine Area of Responsibility
01:03
is released on Saturday morning.
01:06
When it is released, it will still be accompanied by Habagat or Southwest Monsoon,
01:10
so the rains will continue in many areas of our country,
01:13
up to Northern and Central Luzon as Metro Manila, until next week.
01:19
It will remain far from our land, but it is still possible for floods and landslides to occur.
01:27
For our weather forecast for Thursday,
01:30
there are areas that will be raining due to Habagat plus the tip of this storm Bibingka.
01:35
There is a high chance of rain in the Bicol region, especially in Sosogon and Masbate,
01:39
and here in Occidental Mindoro and La Lawigan of Romblon,
01:43
up to Habagat.
01:45
Sometimes, the rains will be heavy.
01:47
The weather will be gloomy, so be careful of possible floods and landslides.
01:52
There is a high chance that we will also experience advisories and heavy rainfall warnings.
01:57
In the remaining part of Luzon, including Metro Manila,
02:00
it is expected that it will be cloudy until the morning.
02:04
Then, when it reaches the afternoon and evening,
02:07
there will be frequent rains due to thunderstorms here in Northern Luzon
02:12
As the southwest monsoon or Habagat gradually intensifies,
02:15
in the remaining part of Calabar zone, Bicol region, Metro Manila, parts of Central Luzon,
02:21
there will also be severe tropical storm Bibingka
02:25
in the areas of Cagayan Valley and Aurora.
02:28
Our temperature in Metro Manila is from 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.
02:34
To our fellowmen here in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
02:38
please bring an umbrella if you are going out of your house today
02:41
because there is a high chance of heavy rains here in the western section of Palawan,
02:47
western Visayas, Zamboanga, Peninsula, and Bangsamoro
02:50
due to the southwest monsoon and the remaining part of Visayas and Mindanao
02:54
due to the trough of this tropical storm Bibingka.
02:57
Sometimes, the rains will be heavy.
02:59
Be careful of possible floods and landslides.
03:03
Make sure that we are always aware of heavy rainfall warnings and rainfall advisories.
03:09
Our temperature here in Palawan is from 24 to 31 degrees Celsius.
03:13
While a large part of Visayas and Palawan will have temperatures from 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.
03:21
As for our location of the ocean, we do not have a gale warning for today.
03:26
However, expect moderate to rough seas or up to 3 meters high waves
03:31
for our fellowmen here in Caraga and Davao region.
03:34
This will also affect the outer rain bands or outer cloud bands of this tropical storm Bibingka.
03:40
Almost 3 meters. This is dangerous for small marine vehicles.
03:44
As for the remaining part of the eastern side of our country,
03:47
here in eastern Visayas, eastern portions of Luzon,
03:50
up to the remaining town of Mindanao and Visayas,
03:53
expect moderate to rough seas or up to 3 meters high waves
03:57
while there are areas here in northern Luzon,
04:00
up to 3 meters high,
04:02
but eventually, there will be strong waves here in the West Philippine Sea until the weekend.
04:09
As for the latest regarding the tropical cyclone threat potential
04:13
that we are watching for potential storms,
04:15
If this potential storm passes early next week,
04:20
there may be a new low-pressure area in the eastern part of Luzon
04:25
over the northern portion of the Philippine Sea.
04:28
Until the next week, there is a high chance that this will be a weak storm or tropical depression.
04:34
Then, from the middle of next week until later next week on the weekend,
04:38
the potential storm we are talking about will move south
04:42
If it becomes a ferdy, we will call it a tropical storm
04:47
and it will move south,
04:49
which means there is still a low chance that it will hit our land,
04:53
but knowing that the storms here in the northern Philippine Sea
04:57
will still be affected by the southwest monsoon or tropical depression,
05:01
so it will still be rainy in many areas of our country until next week.
05:05
It is still possible for our scenarios to change,
05:07
so please stay tuned for our updates.
05:11
And for our forecast for the next two days,
05:15
it will still be rainy in many areas
05:18
because of the southwest monsoon that will still affect the tropical cyclone Binca
05:23
that is possible to become a ferdy.
05:25
As of Friday, September 13,
05:28
the strongest rains here in Occidental Mindoro,
05:31
Palawan, Antique and Negros Occidental due to heavy to intense rains
05:37
or often heavy rains
05:39
while we have occasional rains in Romblon, Masbate, Sosogon,
05:45
Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula,
05:49
Samis Occidental, Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.
05:53
As of Saturday, September 14,
05:56
we still have heavy to intense rains due to heavy rains over Occidental Mindoro,
06:01
Palawan and Lalawigan ng Antique
06:03
while we have moderate to heavy rains
06:06
or occasional heavy rains in Batangas,
06:09
remaining part of Mimaropa,
06:11
rest of Western Visayas and Negros Island Region.
06:15
The places that we did not mention are Mindanao, Metro Manila,
06:21
Central Luzon, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon and remaining part of Visayas,
06:25
Mimaropa and Bicol Region.
06:27
There will also be widespread rains and thunderstorms
06:31
starting today until the next three days or until the weekend.
06:35
There will be heavy rains so make sure to bring raincoats.
06:38
Always coordinate with your local disaster risk reduction and management offices
06:43
if there is a need to evacuate
06:45
and always stay tuned to our updates,
06:47
especially for heavy rainfall warnings.
06:49
Mostly heavy rains will be the cause of this possible thunderstorm.
06:55
Our sunrise is 5.45am and sunset is 6pm.
07:00
That's all for the latest from the Weather Forecasting Center of Pagasa.
07:03
I'm Benison Estareja. Take care.
