00:00
Good morning from the Weather Forecasting Center, this is our update on the Ferdy Tornado.
00:08
Earlier this morning, the Philippine Area of Responsibility released the Ferdy Tornado.
00:15
This is an international name, Nabe Vingkas.
00:18
This is still a tropical storm and our latest location earlier this morning at 4am
00:23
is at a distance of 1,210 kilometers east-northeast of the extreme northern Luzon.
00:30
This is a strong wind that is close to the middle, reaching up to 85 kilometers per hour
00:35
when it reaches 105 kilometers per hour.
00:38
At the moment, it is moving west-northwestward at a speed of 20 kilometers per hour.
00:44
So even though this is outside our PAR, we can see here in our latest satellite images
00:51
that these thick clouds that are moving to a large part of our country
00:56
are the continuous effect of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat that is caused by the so-called typhoon.
01:02
And this is our current location in our country.
01:07
Here in the area of Luzon, due to the effect of Habagat, a large part of southern Luzon,
01:12
including Metro Manila, as well as areas of Zambales and Mataan,
01:16
there is a higher chance of heavy rains accompanied by landslides and landslides.
01:21
The most affected by monsoon rains or the direct rains brought by Habagat
01:26
are the areas of Mimaropa and occasional rains here in the area of Cabiculan.
01:32
It is clearer in the time that we expect in the rest of Central Luzon
01:36
as well as in the entire northern Luzon.
01:38
Even now, the chance of sudden and sudden rains is still possible
01:43
due to the trough or extension of the tropical storm outside our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
01:49
Maximum temperature forecast for today is possible to reach 32 degrees Celsius.
01:55
32 degrees here in the area of Tagagarao and 23 degrees Celsius in Baguio City.
02:00
Maximum temperature forecast today in Metro Manila is possible to reach 30 degrees Celsius.
02:06
And 29 degrees here in the areas of Legazpi and Tagaytay.
02:11
In the area of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao,
02:14
a large part of Visayas, actually the entire Visayas, is also in the area of Palawan.
02:19
And most of Mindanao will experience a high chance of rain.
02:24
Meanwhile, a part of Maulab up to Maulab Tapawiri is accompanied by isolated rain showers
02:29
or thunderstorms as we expect in the area of Davao Region.
02:33
We also expect monsoons here in the area of Palawan and here in the western section of Visayas.
02:40
Meanwhile, cloudy skies and high chances of widespread thunderstorms as we expect
02:46
in the central and eastern Visayas and most of Mindanao.
02:50
Maximum temperature forecast for Kalayaan Islands today is possible to reach 31 degrees Celsius.
02:56
30 degrees here in the area of Puerto Princesa.
02:59
29 degrees Celsius in Iloilo and 31 degrees Celsius in the areas of Cebu and Tacloban.
03:05
Maximum temperature forecast for Cagayan de Oro today is possible to reach 30 degrees Celsius.
03:11
32 degrees in the area of Davao and 31 degrees Celsius in the area of Zamboanga.
03:16
And this is our latest track and intensity forecast for Tropical Storm Ferdi.
03:23
The international name of this storm is Bibingka.
03:26
It is outside of our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
03:30
It came out earlier this morning.
03:32
It will continue to move north-westward towards Okinawa, Japan.
03:38
And it will generally move west-northwestward while it is in the area of the East China Sea.
03:45
So within this forecast period, it is possible for this storm to move into a severe tropical storm category
03:50
while it is outside of our Philippine Area of Responsibility.
03:54
And possibly into a typhoon category while it is in the East China Sea.
03:58
So this storm Ferdi will still remain far away from our land.
04:01
And it will no longer have a direct effect on any part of our country.
04:08
Even now, due to the effect of the typhoon and the so-called typhoon that is still pulling the storm out of our park,
04:14
we will still experience gusts of wind in some parts of our country.
04:19
So starting today until tomorrow, we expect gusts of wind in the areas of Batangas,
04:25
Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Buong Visayas, Sakaraga Region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula,
04:32
Barm and Davao Region.
04:34
The gusts of wind in the areas of Batangas and Barm will decrease by Monday.
04:42
In terms of rainfall, we still expect significant amounts of rainfall in the next three days
04:52
brought by the southwest monsoon that is being described as a typhoon.
04:56
So 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall, this is the heavy to intense rainfall that we expect
05:01
in the areas of Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Negros Occidental.
05:06
In terms of rainfall, we will experience heavy to intense rainfall in Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas,
05:13
Southern portion of Quezon, here in Cabiculan, many parts of Visayas, Misamis Occidental,
05:19
Zamboanga del Norte, Lanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur,
05:26
Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Basilan, Sulu, and Satawitawi.
05:32
The rainfall brought by the typhoon will gradually decrease, especially in the areas of Mindanao
05:38
and the central and eastern sections of Visayas, starting tomorrow morning to Monday morning.
05:43
However, heavy to intense rainfall will continue in the areas of Occidental Mindoro,
05:49
Northern portion of Palawan, Aklan, and Antique.
05:52
Meanwhile, we expect moderate to heavy rains in the southern portion of Quezon,
05:57
whole of Cabiculan, many parts of Mimaropa, Negros Island Region, and many parts of Western Visayas.
06:06
The rainfall brought by the typhoon will decrease until Monday morning to Tuesday morning,
06:11
especially in the areas of Quezon and Negros Oriental.
06:17
However, heavy to intense rains will continue in the areas of Occidental Mindoro and Northern portion of Palawan.
06:24
Moderate to heavy rains will continue in the areas of Mimaropa, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Alabay,
06:30
Sorsogon, Masbate, Negros Occidental, and Western Visayas.
06:35
Compared to the mentioned areas, for the next three days,
06:37
it is still possible for us to increase our participation in the regional centers.
06:42
It is still possible to issue heavy rainfall warnings or rainfall advisories.
06:47
Compared to the mentioned areas, let us continue to be ready and alert to the dangers of flooding and landslides
06:53
because we expect that the rains that we will experience in the next three days
06:59
will continue to fall heavily, especially in the areas of Southern Luzon and Visayas.
07:05
As of 5 a.m. today, we do not have any high-level gale warnings,
07:11
but we still have to be careful with our fellow fishermen,
07:16
especially in the seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
07:20
Due to the continued effects of the floods,
07:22
it is still possible for us to experience moderate to rough sea conditions
07:26
up to high altitudes.
07:30
That is all for the latest from the Pag-asa Weather Forecasting Center.
07:35
Good morning to all of us. I am Dano Villamil.
