Hello. Welcome to your weekend
00:02
forecast from the Met Office,
00:04
a weekend that will see
00:05
a big change in the weather.
00:07
It's going to start hot,
00:08
but by the end of the weekend,
00:09
temperatures will be back
00:11
closer to where they have been
00:13
for much of June so far.
00:15
There will be plenty of sunshine
00:16
around this weekend, but also
00:18
a few showers here and there too.
00:20
Now, the heat, as you may well
00:22
already know, is coming up from
00:23
Spain, France and even North
00:26
Africa because high pressure is
00:27
dominating across the UK,
00:29
but low pressure isn't too far
00:30
away. And it's a combination
00:32
that's allowing the winds to
00:33
draw up the hot air
00:35
from France and Spain.
00:36
Now, we're not going to see the
00:37
temperatures that we're going to
00:38
see across France, but those
00:40
temperatures will be rising
00:41
through Friday and especially
00:43
into Saturday.
00:44
And then it's this weather front
00:46
which will eventually introduce
00:47
the cooler conditions for all.
00:49
Now, that process will start on
00:51
Saturday and as well as
00:52
introducing cooler air, it will
00:53
bring more cloud on Saturday
00:55
across Northern Ireland, Western
00:56
Scotland, Western fringes of
00:58
England and Wales.
00:59
And there could just be one or two
01:00
showers dotted about, particularly
01:01
across Scotland.
01:02
But they will be dotted about.
01:04
Most places won't see them and
01:06
stay dry.
01:06
But as I say, more cloud in the
01:08
west on Saturday compared to
01:10
Friday.
01:10
And as a result, it won't be as
01:12
hot. Whereas in the east,
01:14
well, we've seen the winds coming
01:15
in from a chilly North Sea.
01:16
A switch in wind directions means
01:18
here temperatures will really
01:20
jump up. How much hotter day
01:21
across much of eastern England.
01:23
How hot could we get?
01:24
Well, we are expecting over 30
01:26
degrees and the possibility up to
01:29
34 degrees Celsius
01:30
across some areas through eastern
01:32
England. Notice in the west
01:34
temperatures, nothing like that
01:35
high. So a drop in temperatures
01:37
here between Friday and Saturday,
01:39
whereas in the east, temperatures
01:40
are going up.
01:42
And for many, it'll be a fine
01:44
warm balmy summer's evening
01:46
on Saturday evening before this
01:48
cold front does switch
01:50
things around. Just look at it.
01:50
Brush away all that hot air
01:53
spreading it back into the near
01:55
continent since the UK changing
01:57
colour from red back to
01:59
yellow as temperatures revert
02:01
back closer to average for Sunday.
02:03
There'll still be plenty of fine
02:04
weather around on Sunday, but a
02:05
fresher feel.
02:06
And there will be showers in
02:08
western Scotland, one or two
02:10
for Northern Ireland, northwest
02:11
England, maybe into Wales.
02:12
But again, they'll be well
02:13
scattered. For many, it will be
02:15
dry, certainly across many central
02:16
and eastern parts, and there'll
02:17
still be some sunshine.
02:19
But it's that switch in wind
02:20
direction not coming up from the
02:21
south anymore, but coming in from
02:23
the west, bringing that fresher
02:25
feel and bringing temperatures
02:26
back closer to average.
02:27
Still a bit warmer than it has
02:29
been. We could still get up to the
02:30
mid 20s, possibly in the sunshine
02:32
across the southeast corner.
02:34
But for many, it'll be low 20s
02:36
at best.
02:36
And for quite a few of us, we'll be
02:38
sticking back into the teens by
02:40
Sunday afternoon, a much fresher
02:42
end to the weekend, as I said.
02:44
But still plenty of fine weather to
02:45
be had this weekend.
02:47
Don't forget, UV levels are likely
02:49
to be high, along with
02:50
pollen levels at times, too.
02:52
For more advice on that and
02:54
to keep track on the temperatures,
02:56
see just how high we get on
02:58
Saturday on our followers on
02:59
social media.
