Hello. Welcome to your latest
00:02
weekend updates from the Met
00:03
office. It won't rain all
00:05
weekend. It won't be a washout.
00:06
There will be dry and bright
00:07
spells.
00:08
However, there will be further
00:10
showers never too far away,
00:11
blown along by a fairly brisk
00:14
but not particularly strong
00:15
wind, although it could get quite
00:16
gusty on Sunday.
00:18
And also on Sunday, we're keeping
00:19
our eyes peeled on the potential
00:21
for some places seeing some
00:23
heavier rain.
00:25
Now, as you might imagine, when
00:26
we're talking about showers and
00:27
brisk breezes, low pressure
00:29
is the main dominant feature
00:30
through this weekend. In fact,
00:31
we've got a couple of systems
00:33
moving in, this one arriving on
00:34
Friday night, a brief
00:36
gap before that next weather
00:38
system arrives later on Saturday
00:40
and into Sunday.
00:41
This first weather system will
00:43
make for a fairly damp start
00:45
on Saturday.
00:46
Early in the day, a lot of cloud
00:47
rain, some snow over the Scottish
00:49
mountains and quite breezy.
00:51
But it does move away.
00:52
And for large chunks of the
00:54
country, particularly Wales,
00:56
parts of northern England,
00:57
southern England, actually much
00:59
of Saturday afternoon looks dry
01:00
and bright. But then that next
01:02
weather system arrives, the breeze
01:04
picks up and more rain comes to
01:05
Scotland and Northern Ireland
01:06
during the day and perhaps into
01:08
parts of northwest England and
01:09
north Wales, too.
01:11
So there's a brief interlude
01:13
between the wet weather and it
01:15
does sound a bit milder on Saturday
01:16
as well. It's turned a bit colder
01:18
over recent days.
01:19
Temperatures back up into the teens
01:21
in some spots if we see any
01:22
brightness on Saturday afternoon.
01:24
Big question mark about Saturday
01:25
night and Sunday.
01:26
This weather front comes in.
01:27
It could have a little wriggle or
01:29
ripple on it.
01:30
And when we see these waving
01:31
weather fronts, well, they can
01:33
cause a couple of complications
01:35
with the forecast.
01:35
They could also provide some quite
01:37
heavy bursts of rain.
01:38
So there is the potential for some
01:40
heavy rain on that weather front.
01:41
But it could be a little further
01:42
east. It could be a little further
01:43
west. But for some, it could be a
01:45
pretty soggy Sunday.
01:47
Away from that weather front,
01:48
though, parts of the east of
01:49
England, maybe largely dry and
01:51
bright and further north.
01:52
We should see some sunny spells
01:53
across parts of Scotland and
01:54
Northern Ireland.
01:55
Just a few showers here.
01:57
But also you'll notice the wind
01:58
starting to come down from the
02:00
north. So actually turning a bit
02:01
colder here, whereas of course,
02:02
England, Wales, Sunday looks
02:04
like being another mild day, but it
02:05
won't be feeling all that mild,
02:07
obviously, if you're stuck under
02:08
that waving weather front and
02:10
potentially a fair bit of rain.
02:12
However, if you're after some dry
02:14
weather, next week looks like a
02:15
decent shout.
02:17
High pressure is arriving and
02:19
overall, well, it'll be much
02:21
drier and we should see in places
02:22
some sunshine.
02:23
So a few signs of spring, perhaps
02:25
as we go into next week.
