It’ll turn a little drier for a day or so around the middle of the week, for many that will coincide with bonfire night, but overall the showers will keep coming and it will also turn colder. Alex Deakin has the details…….

00:01Welcome to your weather for the week

00:02ahead from the Met Office.

00:03There's more rain to come this week.

00:05If you're after a drier period,

00:07well, the middle of the week offers

00:09something a little bit drier for

00:10many of us.

00:11And actually, Tuesday night for

00:12Bonfire Night looks largely

00:14dry at this stage, but it's not

00:16going to be mild, if anything,

00:18feeling a lot colder this week

00:19with further rain to come by the

00:21end of the week.

00:22The bigger picture tells the story.

00:24This is Monday's chart.

00:25Low pressure controlling our

00:27weather. Fast forward to Friday

00:29and it looks remarkably similar.

00:31That's not the same low.

00:32We will get something a bit drier

00:34in between, but it kind of tells

00:35the story that low pressure will be

00:37dominating this week.

00:38Let's rewind and run through

00:40day by day.

00:41Looking at Monday night into

00:43Tuesday, that first low starts to

00:45drift to the south and that

00:47allows colder air to start

00:49to push in across Scotland and

00:50Northern Ireland.

00:51This weather front will bring

00:53some dull and damp conditions,

00:55certainly across northeast England

00:56early on on Tuesday.

00:58And that showery rain pushing into

00:59the Midlands, parts of East Anglia

01:01and the southeast during Tuesday

01:03afternoon. A few showers will come

01:05into northern and eastern Scotland,

01:07but for many western areas,

01:08Tuesday looks quite a bit drier.

01:10We should see some sunshine at

01:12times in Northern Ireland, western

01:14parts of Scotland in particular.

01:15Temperature wise, well, that cooler

01:17air is pushing in.

01:18So single digits across Scotland,

01:2011 to 13 elsewhere,

01:22but feeling cold with that wind

01:24coming in from the North Sea and

01:25with a cloud and the showery rain

01:27across the southeastern corner

01:29during Tuesday evening.

01:30Now, it will still be here through

01:32the evening as well.

01:33So although I said many places

01:35having a fine bonfire night,

01:37there will still be some showers

01:38across eastern Scotland and

01:40particularly across East Anglia and

01:41the southeast and certainly

01:43wherever you are, even if it's dry,

01:44as in nothing falling from the sky,

01:46it will be wet underfoot.

01:48And it's only quite chilly as well.

01:50A cold night Tuesday night

01:52between weather systems, a very

01:54brief ridge tries to move

01:56in. That will allow some fog patches

01:58to form for Wednesday morning and

02:00it will allow those temperatures to

02:01drop away.

02:02So a cold, potentially frosty

02:04start on Wednesday morning.

02:05But weather fronts aren't too far

02:07away and these will be shimmying

02:09in through the day, bringing cloud

02:11and some showery rain to

02:13western areas.

02:14The odd shower close to eastern

02:16coast, but for many central and

02:17eastern parts, Wednesday is dry

02:19until this band of rain creeps its

02:21way in.

02:22That's cloud increasing coming

02:24in after a cold night on Tuesday

02:26night means temperatures could

02:27really struggle on Wednesday,

02:28single digits in many places

02:30and feeling particularly cold as

02:32that rain drifts in

02:34from this area of low pressure that

02:35then takes control of our weather

02:37through the second half of the

02:39week. Again, the isobar is quite

02:40close together.

02:41So again, there could be some

02:42stronger winds later in the week,

02:44and particularly close to this low,

02:45some heavy, maybe even thundery

02:47showers across the southwest.

02:49It's another day of bands of showers

02:51drifting across the country around

02:53that area of low pressure.

02:54Again, it won't rain all day.

02:56There will be drier and brighter

02:58spells, but temperature wise,

02:59again, many places won't

03:02get out of single figures.

03:03Seven to nine degrees typically,

03:05maybe 10 or 11 on the south coast.

03:06But again, possibly quite gusty

03:08here close to that area of low

03:10pressure that's still with us as we

03:11go into Friday, showing

03:14signs of ebbing away, perhaps

03:15through the day. There's quite a

03:16bit of uncertainty as we get

03:17towards the end of the week.

03:19But again, around that low pressure

03:20system, there will be showers

03:22through the course of Friday,

03:23especially early on on Friday

03:24morning. And then the winds start

03:26to come in again from the north

03:27across parts of Scotland.

03:28So feeling quite cold here

03:30and possibly with some frost

03:32around as we go into the weekend.

03:34Look at the maximum temperatures.

03:35Again, it's single figures for most

03:36places are quite a bit colder

03:38than it has been recently.

03:39But if that low does ever weigh,

03:41then we could start to see some

03:43drier and brighter weather returning

03:44into Friday afternoon and Friday

03:46night. A bit of uncertainty then as

03:48we go into the weekend, that low

03:50pulls away.

03:51We try and build in a brief

03:53ridge of high pressure, but there

03:54are weather fronts waiting to

03:55bring more wet weather in from the

03:57west once more.

03:58So as I said, a bit of uncertainty

04:00about the weekend, it could start

04:01dry and a little bit chilly.
