00:05
Will the sunny weather continue?
00:07
Well, mostly yes, but there's always one or two exceptions.
00:11
Certainly far from sunny across Spain and Portugal,
00:13
this low pressure bringing more wet and windy weather.
00:15
But we're more interested in this chunky area
00:17
of high pressure.
00:18
That's why the weather is so fine and settled.
00:20
But with the winds going clockwise
00:23
around high pressure, it is drawing down
00:25
the air from the North Sea.
00:27
So that is going to generate quite a bit of cloud,
00:29
I suspect, on Saturday morning across these eastern parts
00:32
of parts of the Midlands, certainly
00:33
much of eastern England, eastern Scotland,
00:35
likely to be pretty dull first thing on Saturday morning.
00:39
Hint of frost there across parts of Scotland, too.
00:42
So a coolish start.
00:43
But as we go through the day, that cloud
00:45
should tend to melt away.
00:46
Certainly for most inland areas, there is always
00:49
the threat that some of this low cloud
00:51
could stick to some of the coasts, some har and sea
00:54
threat at times, particularly from Yorkshire northwards
00:56
and across eastern Scotland.
00:58
So it may be a little grey on some of these North Sea coasts.
01:01
But for many, it is another day of sparkling spring sunshine.
01:06
Still a bit of a breeze blowing.
01:08
But after that chilly start, temperatures
01:10
will be on the rise, not as warm as Friday.
01:12
And the South likely to see temperatures
01:14
getting into the maybe high teens, 17, 18 degrees Celsius.
01:18
But quite a contrast.
01:20
Well, we've got the breeze coming in from the North Sea.
01:21
North Sea pretty cold at this time of year.
01:23
Temperatures may struggle to reach double figures,
01:26
and particularly if it does stay dull and misty
01:29
with that har and fret.
01:31
So quite a contrast in the temperatures.
01:33
If we compare them to the average for April,
01:36
you can see that South Wales, southern England,
01:39
quite a bit above the average for the time of year,
01:41
whereas that's east coast will be below average.
01:44
And parts of western Scotland, you
01:46
notice in these orange colours.
01:47
So quite a contrast between east and west,
01:49
where we see the sunshine, where we've got that breeze coming
01:52
in from the North Sea.
01:53
Now, speaking of the breeze, it will make a difference
01:55
in the feel of the day.
01:56
So these are the feels like temperature
01:58
when you add on that wind.
01:59
So even though we'll see temperatures in the high teens
02:02
across the South, because there'll still
02:04
be a noticeable breeze blowing, it'll
02:06
feel more like the low teens.
02:09
Now, that breeze will continue as we
02:10
go through Saturday night and into Sunday.
02:13
The high pressure is still around,
02:14
but it does start to shift a little further south.
02:17
So a subtle shift in the wind direction.
02:20
Rather than coming from the northeast,
02:22
more coming from the southeast.
02:24
And that will shift where we see the cloud coming in
02:27
through the night.
02:28
So perhaps not as dull to begin with across parts
02:31
of eastern England, but always like to feed some cloud again
02:35
into parts of eastern Scotland, maybe across the northern isles,
02:38
which will again burn back to the coast,
02:40
but still may stick on some coasts.
02:43
For many, though, it's another day
02:45
of blue sky and lots of sunshine.
02:46
The wind's a little bit lighter, but cooler air in place.
02:49
So temperatures probably not as high in the South,
02:53
15 or 16 degrees Celsius, but the wind won't be as strong.
02:56
So those two may well compensate and probably
02:59
feel pretty similar.
03:00
But you will notice, again, some of these North Sea coasts,
03:03
particularly with that breeze coming into Aberdeenshire,
03:06
struggling to reach double digits further south.
03:09
Perhaps not as cold, because the wind won't be quite so brisk.
03:12
But generally, plenty of sunshine
03:14
on offer through the course of this weekend.
03:16
UV levels are creeping up, so take note of that.
03:19
You may need the sunscreen on this weekend.
03:21
And temperatures may well creep up
03:22
as we go into next week, which for many schools
03:25
is the first week of the Easter holidays.
03:27
