Ingredients for marinating

6 soya chaap (soya sticks)
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper power
2 tablespoon lemon juice
Ingredients For The Soya Chaap masala Gravy:
1 bay leaf (tej patta)
1 cinnamon
2 cardamom
2-3 cloves
1 Cup onion paste and some chopped onion
1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
10-12 Cashew nuts ( soaked in water ) and make a paste
1 Cup tomato paste (grind 2 small-size tomato)
Salt to taste
1 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
4 tablespoon oil

Instructions

Step 1: Ingredients

Step 2: Remove soya chaap from the sticks.
Cut them into big chunks. Make sure not to cut small pieces of the soya chaap.
Marinate soya chaap pieces in ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, black pepper and salt. Mix it well.

Step 3: Heat refined oil in a pan. Sauté soya chaap pieces till they are nicely roasted or light brown in colour. Drain off and keep aside.

How To Make Soya Chaap Masala Gravy:

Step 4: Heat oil in a pan or you can use the same pan which is used for fry.
Add bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom and cloves Fry till the aroma is released approximately for 2 - 3 seconds.
Next, add onion paste and some chopped onion. Fry it over low flame light golden in colour. keep stirring at regular intervals while frying onion.
Once the onion is done add the ginger-garlic paste and fry it for 2 - 3 minutes and then add cashew nut paste fry it till golden brown.
Add the tomato paste, add masala and stir to combine. Fry the masala over low heat till it starts leaving the sides of the pan. Stirring at regular intervals.

Step 5: Now, add the roasted soya chaap pieces. Mix it well and cook them covered over low heat for 10 minutes.
Open the lid, add approximately 1 Cup of water. Mix and allow the gravy to simmer for next 10 minutes over low heat.

Step 6: Serve Soya Chaap Masala with chapati, rice or paratha.

Recipe Notes:

If you are using frozen soya chaap defrost them as per packet instructions before marinating in the spices.
To reduce the thickness of gravy add approximately 2 cups of water instead of 1 Cup.
