Transcript
00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman Golf Correspondent here, coming to you from the
00:07Renaissance Club in East Lothian on the eve of the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open. The players have
00:18put all their practice in now, they've been in the media centre to let us know what they've got
00:23to say about the week and from 7 a.m. on Thursday the action gets underway in this $9 million
00:34Rolex series event. Defending champion of course is the man behind me, Scotland's Bob McIntyre,
00:42he holed a 23 foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole last year to land the title, the first
00:50Scott to do so since Cole Montgomery in 1999 and McIntyre's victory came a year after he
00:58was pipped by a brilliant birdie birdie finish from Rory McIlroy. McIlroy, he's back in the
01:04field again this year, that's his world number one Scottish Heffler, third ranked Xander Shoffley,
01:12recent US Open champion, JJ Spahn and the current Open champion, the aforementioned Shoffley.
01:20It really is a terrific field here again, Scottish fans are set for an absolute treat over the
01:27four days where the sun's set to shine, temperature's set to rise. It was announced today that Genesis,
01:36the title sponsor of this event since 2022, they've extended their backing through to 2030 which is a
01:45really huge boost for the tournament before tomorrow's first round. To keep up to date with
