00:00Hello, it's Martin Dempster, the Scotsman golf correspondent here, coming to you from Royal Portrush at the end of the second day in the 153rd Open Championship.
00:14Sitting at the top of the leaderboard at the halfway stage is world number one Scotty Scheffler,
00:22bidding to become just the second player after Tiger Woods to land this title as the reigning number one in the standings.
00:33The American followed an opening 3-under par 68 with a 7-under 64, the best score of the day to set on 10-under par at the halfway stage.
00:47He leads by a shot from Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick who was all over the shotways game earlier in the year
00:56but has hit a bit of forum recently including last week's Genesis Scottish Open.
01:03He's a shot behind with Brian Harman, the winner of this event two years ago at Royal Liverpool on 8-under along with China's Houtong Lai.
01:16Bob McIntyre is five shots behind Scheffler, the open man who finished runner-up in the US Open at Oakmont last month is in the major mix again.
01:29He produced a really impressive round of golf today, shooting a 5-under 66 and he's really looking forward to seeing if he can go one better from that US Open performance.
01:43Some drama late in the day, Shane Lowry, the winner here six years ago, he suffered a two-shot penalty after it emerged that his ball had moved as he prepared to take a shot at the par 5 12th.
02:01He was alerted to the situation during the round, they looked at it when he came in and signed for his card and that penalty has dropped him ten shots behind Scheffler who given the way he's played over the last three years is going to be a difficult man to beat here over the weekend.
